I recently went to the Sterling for some after work drinks and a bite to eat. The atmosphere was lively but the bar service was still quick and easy. Was served by Selina, she was both personable and gave me a great recommendation on a new beer. We then sat down for food and I must say it was up there for the best food I’ve had in London. we were served by Lauren who took her time to explain what was on the menu and recommended me the fisherman’s basket. The fish was cooked perfectly and you could tell it was fresh. Over all a great experience and you can expect me back very soon!

I love coming to the Sterling. The atmosphere and the drinks are so fun. Selina always provides the best drinks and Justina and Sabrina made sure our group had everything we needed. I’ll always come back!

Visited Sterling this evening and asked for a table in the (almost empty) dining area to have meals from the “all day” menu and was told they cannot serve from the all day menu and only the bar tapas unless you pre-book from the day before. It’s frustrating as this guidance nowhere to be found on the website. Disappointing, save yourself the wasted journey.

Nothing special, quite small place and that is on the ground floor, which is very disappointing considering the location. Service slow.

We went there for Christmas lunch.The place was nice, and the service was good enough, but food was quite average: small portions, plates - barely warm and average presentation. Not a bad place, but nothing special.

Just wanted to say your barman, Adam can be taught a lesson in politeness. We visited the bar after work, it wasn’t even that busy on a Tuesday, probably about 5 people at the bar. My colleague asked if you had a certain Gin, Adam says no, so she looks over the bar to see what Gin’s you have. Adam goes: well hurry up because you should know what you want before coming to the bar and I have other people to help. Excuse you?!

Visited without pre-booking and they accommodated us. Excellent service and excellent quality. Good for a business meeting or a casual catch up with friends or family. £20-25 per person budget including a drink is possible. Options for vegetarians available here!

Here for a corporate event on the ground floor in that raised area, it wasn't quite big enough, but that's not the bars fault... the bar staff we brilliant bringing buckets of beer and loads of food...lots of food...too much food lol and chips in tiny little buckets

I went with my colleagues for a quick lunch, and ordered a pasta plate in the first place but this was not available anymore so I ordered a barbacue chicken sandwich (also another of my colleagues ordered the same). In reality it was no a sandwich, it was a piece of hard bread with cold chicken on top and I didnt find the barbacue, anyway, the funny thing is when we tried to cut the bread was not posible! So we had to order 2 steaks knifes, even with those it took us 2 or 3min but we managed to eat something at the end also very small portion you can imagine. Definitely I am not going back and dont recomend for food.

Went there for Christmas party,food was a bit standard,nothing amazing, staff were a bit off at first but relaxed and were more friendly and accommodating later but first impressions count,and lastly the dj,started off very well but decided to switch to grandad music,almost every chart topping song we requested after 90's he said he didn't have even though he was on Spotify,an overall mixed reactions to evening hence the 2 stars

Great cocktails!! Fantastic location - I had a tasty gin and tonic and fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce. Very tasty, friendly staff, just a bit pricey...but I guess what do you expect with the location.

I have been here many times and it is always a great place to go. I went yesterday evening for the first time in 12 months and the barman serving was rude, dismissive and really didn’t have a clue. The rest of the staff seemed friendly and knew what they were doing. What a shame.

Great bar and friendly staff. The location is good. It’s at the gherkin on the ground floor and uses a lot of the space out side so there’s always room for lots of people. Prices are what you’d expect for the city, there’s always a good atmosphere and I’ve never seen any trouble happen there

What a disappointment we had a family Sunday Lunch and compared to other premium London Restaurants this would not ever get on the score sheet, the food bland and cold with no finesse at all it has the distinct feel of a departmental store cafeteria for similar cost go to the Savoy Grill

I’ve been booking twice at The Sterling for my team to after work drinks. It’s been such an easy call to book there considering the team management, their wholesomeness and warm greetings I’ve been dealing with a lady named Selma who was a pleasure to meet and more than helpful during our party. Can’t recommend better bar. Thanks to the whole staff. Looking forward to bringing friends and my managing agents again

Stumbled on this venue after work, such a good discovery will definitely be back. The on tap Espresso Martinis and Pornstar Martinis were fantastic. Would highly recommend.

We visited on a Thursday evening and it was buzzing! The staff were super efficient and the sharing boards were amazing, the little buffalo chicken pieces were to die for. We also enjoyed a pornstar martini from a tap. Will defo be back :)

The sterling is located on the ground floor of the Gherkin which is an amazing place to be, especially at night! The staff was lovely and friendly.On top of that, prices are fair and the vibe is great! I highly recommend :)

Bit trendy for me, but it sold Guinness so happy days

I wasn’t sure what to expect as I went here for a work Christmas dinner. On arrival we got sat at a very small table even though it wasn’t busy. We got the Christmas menu and portion size was adequate. Cant say it’s the best food I’ve had but also wasn’t the worse. I would probably come here for drinks as we saw a couple of drinks table who seemed to be having the time of their lives.

Well what can I say.. went there for our Christmas party it was all fun and games until it came to food… the Christmas menu wasn’t great so I ordered off the Menu. Ribeye and sweet potato fries my go to. My colleagues had the Christmas menu which was missing stuffing for the Christmas dinner plate and cranberry sauce. It’s not Christmas dinner without cranberry or stuff. When my ribeye finally came it was undercooked ( I always have my steak Well done) sent it back to the kitchen and it comes back 45 minutes later when we here leaving 🤦🏽‍♀️ for a city restaurant not great

Went for Christmas lunch. Staff very friendly and managed our table of 10 well. Food arrived quickly and together. Small portions for each of the 3 courses. Sadly cannot give five stars for price of xmas menu and portion size. Location is perfect and good selection of drinks.

I tried the Christmas menu which was really good. I must say the food was on point and I finished it all! It may be a little pricy but given location, I suspect it’s in line. Lacked a little salt but overall I’d go there for the meal again and friendly staff.

Very rude bar tender. Stood at the bar to get served, was blatantly ignored while nobody else was at the bar. Someone else came to the bar and got served first. We waited patiently, and then after the person was served the bar tender walked away, despite making eye contact and seeing that we were waiting, while the other bar staff also ignored us and continued cleaning glasses. We left in frustration. Very disappointing end to an excellent night had in another establishment….

Had THE BEST vegan cheeseburger here! I don’t know what the sauce was on it, it wasn’t spicy, but red, but it was so darn delicious! 3 of us had the same and, 2 had the halloumi wrap, one fish and chips and one chicken salad and everyone said how delicious their food was! And 4 of us had pudding and OMG! I had the brownie with pistachio ice cream and could have died! Love love loved the whole experience, thank you!

It was my wife's 40th birthday party and to top it off it was falling on a Saturday on her actual birthday 29.02.20. After looking at numerous venues this place fitted the bill. The main reason for the review is the professionalism of the staff and organisation from all involved. Patrycja Kopciuch (events manager) especially was very receptive to our requests and overall gave us the assurances we need. Thank you Patrycja!! I can't recommend this place enough, such an iconic, wonderful venue. Great drinks selection, great food and supplied a fantastic DJ.

Great staff in a brilliant building

We booked this place for New Year Eve in 2019. Late evening been way too crowded. Just to get couple of drinks we had to wait 30mins. Wasn't the best place to selebrate new year.

The food was quite good. The beer tasted like it had been poured from the toilet. Arrogant and rude staff who know nothing about how beer should taste and were arguing with me about it.

Had a Christmas meal here. Good festive menu. Great food. Spoilt for choice for drinks. Service was also great.

Came here for a Christmas dinner. Food was very tasty although there wasn't a great deal of it. Service was fine although it was hard to hear what the waiting staff were saying - see below. However what ruined it for me was the noise! There was music belting out at such a ridiculous volume that it impossible to hear anyone who wasn't sitting directly next to you. OK if you are in a club, but a restaurant? Maybe it is because this place can't work out whether it is a restaurant or a bar but this is literally the loudest restaurant I've ever been in. Shame that my abiding memory will be of a splitting headache rather than decent food and a nice setting.

Very Poor service, tasteless meal and no idea about gluten and dairy free alternatives all for the princely amount of £30.00 per head.We arrived at The Sterling for a 1pm Xmas Party Booking for a party of 24. After 2pm we finally had our drinks orders taken and starters. Despite notifying the establishment of our dietary choices including allergies and intolerances, the Waiting Staff spent most of their time faffing about trying to find out who ordered what! Then had no clue about the gf and df order. After starters there was a 1.5 hour wait for mains to be served. My salmon main was dry and tasteless. I was too scared to touch the mashed potato for fear that it had been smothered in butter i left it undisturbed in my plate. Then to cap it all in the middle of the room the staff started dismantling tables for diners who had eaten and left! Some team members were so hungry they sat in silence with headaches. I ended up leaving hungry. I have never experienced such slip shod service, tasteless food and poor practices( re-arranging a room in the midst of paying guests) anywhere. The icing on the cake was the mandatory 10% service charge for the lack of service! I do not recommend a visit to The Sterling.

The deco of this bar/restaurant is lovely but one member of the staff ruined it all by his rudeness and lack of manners. If he wanted to go home early and close the place at 11 pm instead of 1 am, that's fine but there are ways to ask people to leave. I'm not the only one to have been unpleasantly surprised about the lack of manners. Shame that one person can just spoil the place and the hard work of his colleagues.

Drinks were decent, nice ambiance. Veggie food board was also quite nice!

Popped into ‘The Sterling Bar’ at the base of the Gherkin last week on my trip to London. What a lovely location, the Gherkin is just stunning. I ordered some white wine, but the service was terribly slow, and when my wine arrived it was warm. Overpriced too, so was quite disappointed.

It's a very different vibe than going to a bar but a nice place for drinks and dancing.

Liked the vibe here, it was my birthday they bought both of us a drink, lovely touch thank you.

Went after superb trip up the Gherkin. Great location in a good sun trap. Was busy and only gripe was we were charged for tap water. Didn't realise until later so too later to challenge it. Be carful.

I held a Summer party and networking event at the Sterling in June and it did not disappoint. Special mention must go to Chelsey Diamond who lived up to her name in every way - going over and above to make sure every detail was covered to the highest level, with the best customer service that I have experienced ever in my 6 years running this type of event. Well done to Chelsey and the team - we will definitely be back.

We recently ran a drinks reception at the Sterling and had a superb experience! Our main contact was a delight to work with and was very attentive and quick to action. The staff were all lovely and friendly on the day. The food is great also so overall we were very happy.

We came in after work for a few drinks. My Vodka didn't taste right and the arrogant person behind the bar argued with me telling me its "ciroc" I do know what that tastes like. He begrudgingly changed it and then we were told we had to leave our table outside in 10 minutes!!! Far better bars in the city than this place

We had our Client Summer Party here and couldn't be happier with the service! The food and drinks tasted amazing and the event staff was very accommodating. It's a perfect place for a large group party! Special thanks to Lucy and Chelsey who provided exceptional service!

Very busy but good food and not ridiculously priced

Awful service from young waitresses who refuse on multiple occasions to get bill because it is not in their section but they would not even ask a colleague who was. Terrible attitude.

The Sterling based on the ground floor of The Gherkin building is a trendy bar with two floors. The ground floor is a general public access bar which serves cocktails, beer, wine, spirits. They also serve food. Upstairs there is a much smaller space which can be used for private hire such as drinks and canapes reception. Canapes were good and staff lovely.

Nice drinkery right in the heart of the square mile. Good range of beverages. Plenty of seating downstairs and a fairly spacious area upstairs for private functions in the evening. Good waiter service. Noce location under the famous Gerkin Landmark. Burgers are good and generous portions so you'll leave filling full and content. Easy access for disabled as well.

Usually a place I avoid but was taken here by clients for lunch.
