The Warren Inn in Shepway

There were loads of choices on the boards but we decided to eat from the menu. Lasagne Verdi for me and Cod Goujons for my friend. Both were excellent, nice and hot and well presented. We were too full for any sweets (unfortunately!, maybe next time). I checked out how to get someone in a wheelchair inside and you go down the side through a high gate then into the lobby where the toilets are and through the door into the bar. The thresholds were flat so no problems wheeling someone in. The bar was large, well stocked and everything was nice and clean. One of the log burners was on but we were too slow to get that table.

Food was served soggy and undercooked, when we asked for this to be fixed they said they'd reheat it, but food was not returned to the table and they still wanted to charge us for the entire meal which wasn't eaten. Staff were rude and defensive about this.

Today we had a lovely roast, I had the roast beef and my husband had the roast without meat. The portions were generous and nicely cooked, the beef was so tender.The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Definitely be back. Compliments to Julie John and team. Regards Wayne and Ivy

What a wonderful Sunday lunch we have just had. I had the roast beef which was so tender you didn’t need a knife to cut it , roast potatoes to die for !!! Very generous amount on my plate I didn’t have room for dessert!!

Always book table when we visit Romney and never been disappointed. Great choice of home cooked tradional meals and great value, large servings. Julie and Stacey are a credit to the Warren with good choice of ales, and wines all at reasonable prices. Can't wait to visit again in the spring.

Turned up early evening with a family party of six on the off-chance that we could have dinner and the staff were so friendly and and accommodating even moving tables around so we could all sit together. The meals were outstanding and the service was impeccable, the pub was warm and comfortable with a real fire and the staff made us all feel so very welcome. Highly recommended venue and excellent value for money. We hope to have the pleasure to visit again.

We prebooked for Sunday lunch during our weekend break to Romney Sands. The pub was very busy when we arrived but we were expecting this as we had been warned of a large party when booking. This did not impact on our visit at all. We had a table in our own area of the pub which was nice. There is an extensive menu and a blackboard detailing the roasts and desserts available. We had drinks, three roasts, a bacon and onion pudding and a jacket with prawns. All the good was delicious and good portion sizes. The staff who served the food and cleared away were very friendly. We were so glad that we had booked. Good vfm. Parking available. Worth going out of your way for.

We were recommended this lovely little pub by our Airbnb hosts. A real pub with a very warm and friendly welcome, great selection of proper home cooked food which was absolutely delicious. My wife and I both had the Liver and onions with mash and peas with a lovely rich onion gravy, lovely portion size, couldn't see any of the plate! Liver was great with creamy mash! Pudding was chocolate cake with ice cream, wow, it was fantastic. really great value for money and the staff were very, friendly and attentive. Very highly recommended.

Pub was ideal for an evening meal sitting in the garden with our dog. Food was good and reasonably priced, the staff were friendly, I would recommend to anyone, a lot of local pubs have stopped serving food in the evenings, so well done to the warren staff for carrying on and working through the very hot week.

Visited for a roast dinner when staying in Romney. The roast was delicious, fresh and home cooked. Staff were friendly and really accommodating. Definitely worth a visit!

I went here on the 1st of August with my parents and two children for dinner after a day exploring Dymchurch. Decent food for the money. Good choice on menu. Recommended. It was fairly busy and there are plenty of holiday parks in the area so it is advisable to book a table.

Very poor presentation, food was poor. No heating in the pub on a freezing cold December day. Would advise to avoid . I imagine they depend on nearby caravan parks in the summer.

Visited this pub as we had not long arrived at our holiday destination. We had a lovely warm welcoming and staff cleaned a table straight away in front of the fire (perfect as it was a cold wet evening!) There is a lot of food choices but couldn’t help to go for a cheese ploughman’s (very hard to find in pubs!) There is 4 different choices of ploughman’s (Cheddar, Stilton, ham, pate) at first I thought it was strange to have them separately and asked if I could have a bit of everything. When questioned as to why it was separate, the answer made sense!….not everyone likes everything in a ploughman’s so it reduces waste and cost!…..amazing! My girlfriend had the ham and chips without the egg due to allergies so she had extra ham (you don’t normally get that unless it costs you extra!!) The portion are extremely full filling for the price you pay! The atmosphere was lovely and staff were very informative We didn’t book before hand as it was a Monday evening and due to the weather but looking at other reviews this is recommend. I am so gutted this pub is not local to us as we would visit all the time!

booked for 6pm, as the place is often fully booked, ordered food and some drinks while we waited, food was excellent, well cooked, large helpings, staff were friendly, pub had nice atmosphere unlike London pubs, 60s and 70s music in the background.Would highly recommend if you're in the area, but book in advance!

Visited last week while we were staying locally, booked a couple of hours before we wanted to eat with no problem. Really dog friendly - They bought a bowl of water straight out for the dogs without being asked.Really good food, we had 2 steak and ale pies (one with chips and the other with mash) and a veggie mrushroom and spinach with mash. Really good service and good quality food.Great selection of beers on tap.

The staff were very friendly and the food was very good value for money. The service was very good and the pub had a good selection of regular beers. We didn't book and we got a table easily but within a short while the pub filled up, so booking would be recommended. One downside was we felt the pub could do with a spruce up and freshen up. If we didn't know better it smelt as if someone had been smoking.

We spent two meal visits here this week . Firstly we had a steak meal plus steak and Stilton dinner , large hearty hot portions plus delicious puddings . We were made to feel like a local by the locals and owners so we stayed for a brilliant karaoke evening . We’ve just bern for Sunday lunch and again another superb meal , they clearly have a great chef . The music is discreet , mellow , middle of the road . Could not recommend this more highly !

Visited on a Saturday evening. You really do need to book but we were lucky. Child friendly and little play area outside for them. Car park. Hand sanitiser at entrance. Warm welcome from the landlady. Music 60s/70s and not too loud. Nice traditional pub with dart board and pool table, brass work and plenty of pictures making it cosy. Food came out in reasonable time. Cheese was mouldy but then some people pay extra for that. Excellent chips, 10/10- triple cooked? Loo's clean. No wifi. Covered area outside. Website out of date but menu still valid. Would I recommend to others? YesWould I go again? Yes

Was on holiday over the road and popped into the Warren Inn for dinner on our first night. Was not disappointed, lovely fresh home made food, served quickly and without fuss. We eat there every day of our holiday and each meal did not disappoint. The prices are sensible compared to a few other pubs in the area.We shall be back on our next trip to the area.

A wonderful warm friendly feeling pub. We booked for 4 for Sunday dinner. We took our dog too, who was made a huge fuss of! (Jack!) All the food was delicious, and the service exceptional. Thank you too to the dear waitress. We very much will be coming back, the lovely staff, lovely food (Brandy Coffee! was perfect!) and all in all, it just felt right. Amazing atmosphere. Thank You!

We visited The Warren Inn on Bank Holiday Monday for a large family meal.... there were 16 off us!What a fantastic evening we had. Firstly thanks to Judy squeezing us in- with a few people added later- at the last minute. So the food was excellent, I had a medium rare steak which was perfect, the steak pie was amazing I'm told also the lasagne! Everyone said the meals they had were lovely so we were all well fed!On to outside, there is a wonderful smokers only area which John made himself & we had a nice chat with him outside.The kids were not forgotten, thank you Judy & John.We stayed for drinks after the meal and had a great time chatting with family we haven't seen for so long.I can't recommend this country pub enough, such a big part of this was Judy and John.... I'd give more stars if I could!

Sat in the garden for lunch and we both opted for a home made pie. One steak & stilton and one steak & ale, one with chips and one with mash and veg. Both were generously sized, packed full of meat and delicious. We also had a couple of pints of Masterbrew and a well chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc which were spot on.All in all a great lunch and I'm sure that we will be going back soon.

We were staying in New Romney for a few days at the Romney Bay House hotel and wanted a place to eat on our first evening. We have to say we were very much pleasantly surprised by this lovely local pub. We got a good welcome from the lovely ladies and were shown to our table, which we had pre-booked a few days before. The pub was fairly busy, but good covid measures were in place. We both had the steaks, which were cooked spot on and extremely generous portions for an excellent price. Some lovely red wine too made this a really enjoyable start to our short break in Romney Marsh. We'd very much recommend this place to eat.

Lovely traditional pub. With the arrangement of flowering baskets outside, to me that says stop and have lunch. Warm friendly welcome, decor clean, and cosy. We decided because it was a lovely day to have lunch outside in their spacious garden area, food was of a high standard, highly recommend the ploughmans, ham and also cheese. Wine was good too. All in all a very enjoyable lunch.

Although it was a Monday, it was busy inside although plenty of tables available in the garden area.The food was all freshly prepared, which means there was a bit of a wait, but very tasty and good size portions. The pies on special all sounded great, opted for the steak, red wine and mushroom and was not disappointed. the rest of my group all had the burger which they said was very good but i think they missed out not getting the pie. Staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly, so glad we picked this pub for our meal & drinks. Oh and the local real ale was worth the visit on its own.

We are currently sitting in the Warren inn having just finished the 2 best cooked steaks we have had in ages. This is a little gem of a place. If you are anywhere near it then stop and enjoy it. You will not be sorry.

Came for a family meal quite a small pub and seemed to be alot of locals in there who knew everyone. We had 4 adult meals and a kids meal and all had an alcoholic drink and only came to £40. Food was lovely nice home cooked meals and really tasty. Would come back again

Visited late August 2020 during COVID-19 while visiting locally on holiday. Good COVID-19 precautious. Really friendly staff and Landlord, good local beer and fantastic pies! Nice atmosphere, proper pub with it’s own, unique character. Good deserts too. Made our family feel welcomed, good value, every thing you’d like from a local, as a visitor. Visited with wife and kids.

First plate of food turned up with a hair across the dinner. Sent it back, offered to cook another steak, requested medium rare. Steak was over cooked, didn’t enjoy my meal at all. Don’t bother.

The photo of the outside tells you what sort of place it will be and it doesn't disappoint. A re-visit is on the cards. One of the nicest roast dinners I have had. Two huge roast dinners, a pint and large wine £28.80. Great value.

We went down to see our parents who have recently moved down to New Romney, when my dad mentioed the great food over the road at the Warren Inn. Hungry when we left we decided to pop in and see what the fuss was about, well we are so glad we did.The place is just as an English boozer should be staff were extremely friendly and the menu including some gorgeous homemade dishes was heaven to a traditional foody like my.I had the game pie full of rabbit, pheasant and venison with smked bacon and figs was delicous and the wife had a fresh chicken kiew which was also cooked to perfection.Although not too busy it was quite full for a saturday afternoon and I know why, everyone was commenting on the food how good hot and just generally delicous.Want decent home cooked food at prices you wont believe its all here.

went to check out for christmas dinner for 30 .while food was good we had ,no atmosphere in the place ,had to get own drinks of bar dispite being the only customers in the place barmaid busy on computor and ciggy break.would not go back.

What a find? My children have a lot of allergies. This placed catered for them amazingly. Had dairy free butter and even dairy free ice cream. My kids were so happy. The meals and desserts were very generous and the staff really friendly and welcoming. Will definiately come here again. FANTASTIC

The Warren Inn is located on the main A257, Dymchurch Road into New Romney. It has good parking facilities, indoor or outdoor facilities, and excellent food service.This service is inexpensive compared to many others, even in the local vicinity. The landlord and landlady or very pleasant, as are all of the serving staff. The Inn itself boasts old world charm, with plenty of character. During the winter months, customers are welcomed by a warm log fire, which amply heats the customer area.Overall a warm and welcoming stay, with excellent food await all customers at all times. Try the Sunday afternoon roast, if you feel you can eat all that is available.

Went here for a few meals and a few drinks, very well kept pub with original Victorian interior. the staff are super friendly and cater to all of your needs. All food is homemade and delicious. chips are cooked separately and some of the puddings are gluten free. Portion sizes are very generous. Well worth a stop if in the area.

Had a couple of drinks in the garden with our dogs, nice setting. The creamy mash with my sausages wasn’t very creamy but will still go back.

Hadn't been here for a while, but went for lunch today and it was wonderful. The chicken, brie and cranberry pie was tasty and huge, and the steak was perfectly cooked and sooooo tender. Really good value for money, too.

mum had the carvery (choice of 4 meats) and was delighted with it, the roast beef was melt in the mouth. I had the seafood medley which I also enjoyed. The food was tasty, plentiful and good value. Make sure that you phone in advance to book a table as it is only a small place and very busy

My son and I were visiting the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway for the day and l was looking for somewhere to have lunch and after seeing previous reviews decided to walk here We were not disappointed the food was amazing we both had the bacon & onion pudding off the specials board with mash and three lovely vegetables. We are also real ale lovers and l allways try to find a pub with local beers so this was ideal as we had a few pints of excellent Master Brew & Spitfire
