Excellent place lovely friendly staff lovely place to take the family

Shabby place, gone really downhill since previous landlord. No atmosphere, no proper beer - staff said waiting 3 months for beer connections to be fixed!! - almost had a smile from bar staff, but not quite. Quite sad really as this was once a decent pub. Didn't eat there so can't comment on food. Sadly, won't be going there again.

Came to the pub with my family, the bar man was extremely miserable with very little hospitality skills. We were told there was no food because cooker was broken. Upon arriving my family had arrived in a separate car and waiting for us to which the landlord made sure they weren’t parking for free and going elsewhere, may I add there is literally a children’s park opposite and nothing more, again really rude! Will not be returning maybe service with a smile may help. A family pub that seems to be more of a sports bar. Shame really

This pub has changed management recently. It is the kind of pub which is full of men - across the board. If you are a woman you have had it and will be excluded from the first second. there was no food this evening. None at all. Unfortunately some of the bar staff bring their kids in for hours. Personally I witnessed ten year old and such sitting sports bar doing their homework and mum/dad not taking them home. Really bad. Don't go here.

Arrived just after 6 and got served quite quickly by a friendly chap. Unfortunately though despite being told a 45 min wait for food despite it not being overly busy we were still waiting 1hr 20 mins later for it. We did however receive a full refund being that we had to leave and huge apology. Could be a great place but if the kitchen is so small as stated please reduce your menu so that it can cope!

1st time visit. Recommended by family. We were made to feel very welcome. The food was superb. The 2 roast dinners were piled high with meat as well as the veg. 2 burgers were exceptionally tasty too. Cheesecake was yummy. Highly recommended. 5*****

Waited ages for food after the kids meals came out for it to come out cold ,had to send back and think they just heated it in the microwave,we had the chilli burger and chips all freezing,was also ment to be given 10,% off for blue light card,came to 43.77 and only gave 43p of, we was not the only ones complained with cold food and waiting times,was told the manger would come out but it didn't happen, would not come again , couldn't even eat it all

Where to start . . . Clues were there tucked away in the bizzare spelling mistakes on the menu but I persevered going for a prawn cocktail starter and the grilled salmon as a main, as those listings were free of the spelling mistakes which put me off the Balognesec Pasta Homemad Cilli. The prawn cocktail starter was ridiculously awful. Four leaves of wilted lettuce with a blob of some sort of redish sauce contained eight tiny cardboard like stale pieces of inedible material. They may well had been potential prawns at some point but these quarter inch offerings were no doubt the cheapest available to the pub but sadly unlike any food offerings I've previously encountered. I felt awkward having to complain but the delightful girl behind the bar apologised profusely, informing me that they had a new "chef" and asked if I'd like an alternative starter. I went for the breaded mushrooms, she promised a few extra to compensate for my dismay. Fair enough. She returned with seven mushrooms and a little paper pot with some not very garlicy maionaise contained. This was at least edible. Then came a plate with a two inch long serving of a leather based piece of something that may have been fish based at some point but had been dried out and shrunk by over enthusiastic grilling, ten dried and wrinkly new potatoes and a spoonful of dried out peas. No sign of the "drizzle of garlic butter" or the broccoli. For the first time in my life I sent the food back. It was an embarrassment for both myself and the innocent girl behind the bar. So come for a drink but consider your options if you need to eat as the local area is brimming with places that offer better, or at least edible food.

We were looking for a dog friendly pub whilst we stayed in the area. We passed this while driving to the beach and decided to stop on the way back. Made to feel very welcome as soon as we walked through the door by staff and the local patrons. The food was excellent , we both had rump steak. I chose the home made cheese cake for pudding, my wife had the apple crumble and custard. We would highly recommend going if you are in the area.

Positives was the locals were friendly and welcoming and unfortunately that's where the positives end, walked in just after 12 on a Friday afternoon and we were the only ones ordering food and after my visit I'm not surprised with the pub being so empty apart from the few locals at the bar, as I went up to the bar to place the order, stood there for ages as she seemed more interested in talking to someone on the other side, then after we placed the order we were told that there was no potatoes or broccoli so came with handful of frozen chips instead, when the food arrived many of the meals were of poor quality the salmon was way overcooked the katsu sauce was tasteless and the rice I'm sure was from the microwave and my daughter could hardly eat her meatballs because the sauce had a weird taste, and the egg on the gammon had no yoke it must have broke while cooking, overall a very poor experience, it seems like a place to go for a pint with the locals but not somewhere to eat unfortunately.

You can get in the pub with a walker/wheel chair, but not onto the beer garden. Think that's the only drawback, as I've not eaten there

We came across The Walnut Tree when we were looking for a dog friendly pub in March and we have been coming back whenever we are in the area. The food is excellent and the service is second to none. Always made to feel welcome and nothing is to much trouble for the staff. Chole is an excellent chef, the food is always delicious and served hot. Love the beer garden and play area, and the conservatory is lovely to sit in except when it's sunny or winter. It's always clean and tidy. The staff go above and beyond to help and nothing is to much trouble for them. Such a shame they are leaving in October.

Just drove past this place at lunchtime and thought why not. Man I am glad we did, locals even said hello when we walked in. Food was Really good and I mean Really good. Drinks were ok, but could do more alcohol free one for us drivers. Staff were excellent, to be fair only met 1 guy. If I lived local I would drink and eat there most nights…

Kitchen couldn’t cope with a large group order. Meals were missed, meals were served stone cold. Such a shame.

Absolutely Brilliant - one of the best places I've been to and one of the best Sunday lunches I've had out in a long time - definite value for money and with quantity and quality combined in both meal and sweet - great staff and a great welcome from Assistant Manager Oliver - if you do nothing else, visit The Walnut Tree - well recommended

First time visiting this place, we went on Sunday as looking for a place to have Sunday lunch, when approached by a member of the team who was very welcoming and said sure we have tables available, the team member showed us to our table. A class touch by the owners on the tables there was buckets of lego for the kids to play with whilst there food was being prepared, my twin boys loved it, when th food arrived and it looked great plenty of meat and all the trimmings. Tasted absolutely beautiful, complements to the chef to which I found out it was the landlords mum who does all the cooking. Couldn't fault it, they have different offers on every day also so good variety of options. Will definitely return. Thanks walnut tree for a great first visit.

Had a table booked for 3:30 today, party of 11. I love that it’s dog-friendly. Lunch menu is decent for a pub but has limited vegan options. Sadly the kitchen had issues during my visit and was only able to offer roast dinners, leaving no option for me (as I’m vegan). We decided to stay and ordered roast dinners all round (and a plate of veg for me). We saw roasts coming out to other tables, and after two hours one of our party went for more drinks. She was advised that there were no more roasts. I don’t know why were were not told earlier, and I couldn’t say how much longer we’d have been left if we hadn’t gone for that drinks order. That left no time to go elsewhere. I appreciate that problems happen, but it’s disappointing to be left for 2 hours without being told we would not be catered for after placing our order.

Terrible service, came for a meal with 16 other people, every meal served separately, took over 1hr.45min to serve all the meals. Some people had left before we had all had our meals (we didn't order starters or deserts thank god!) Burger I had was not good quality either. Sadly won't return and will advise others not to.

Great service and lovely food try it you wont be disappointed

Disappointing. We have eaten here before and really enjoyed the food. On this occasion, we waited far too long for quite mediocre meals, which were plenty expensive enough, although the staff were very pleasant.

Unless this pub is using tourist rates, for its wet sales, for anyone not known to them, its the most expensive pub in weston-super-mare. It is at least 25% more expensive than other local pubs or bars so I won't be going again.

Massive shout out to Jess, Frank and their staff. Having been let down badly by another venue for my charity bash with only 4 hours to find somewhere else they stepped up and were so welcoming and accommodating - Thank you so much 😊

Called in for lunch as in area, staff very obliging and helpful, food hot and enjoyed.

Not empressed, Service was terrible, Food was cold ,I Had gammon and it was very tough, Yorkshire puds burnt. Had to keep chassing up for service . . Stayed her last night in our motorhome and were made to feel very welcome. All the staff were lovely. Had Sunday lunch and it was superb so tasty and good value for money. Also went back in the evening for drinks and again made to feel welcome.

We had such a good time when the family came for Christmas Dinner that I brought my friend back for lunch. We were not disappointed! My friend is a veggie and for once there was a good choice,not just lasagna or cheese jackets. Both meals were delicious,and the stting welcoming. Will be back,thanks Becca

Christmas meal. Expensive for what we had. Food questionable. Not a lot of it, veg was cold and overall bland. On a very cold night, they left the conservatory door open, so bloody cold. Had to eat with my coat on. Disappointing. Won't recommend or eat there again. First and last time there!

The layout on the table was really lovely. Food was excellent. Staff couldn't be more helpful and fun. It was a real party night especially as there was a disco on as well. Loved it. Thank you to you all for giving us a wonderful night.

They don't think of the elderly or disabled. Be nice if we were told whats going on. What a row and rubbish on the path behind it is disgusting. Even dirty nappies are chucked out.

Well! I went to meet a friend at the said pub at lunch time, I hadn't been there for many years. As I walked into the bar area I noticed a couple strange fellas hanging around looking a bit dodgy. My mate said don't make eye contact or speak to them, they're from the Bournville! I mean I don't like to judge anyone, but they did have their hats on the wrong way round. Now, me being an Abbots boy, there certainly is no competition between the Bournville Estate and Abbots, we'd win hands down if it came to anything, I told my mate, who was vividly bothered by these people. But, I was only there for a pint with my friend and that's why I've rated this a 3.

Have often driven past and wanted to try the food since it's revamp. Finally got to visit! Great menu, something for almost everyone. We visited on a Friday evening and ate in the lovely conservatory. Friday offer is 2 fish dishes for £12. Surprisingly, they had 2 salmon dishes in that offer. I had the salmon with new potatoes and it was beautiful; a good size salmon portion and cooked to perfection! We also had the Eton Mess and Walnut Sundae, again, absolutely perfect. Will definitely come again and looking forward to trying some of the other food on the menu although the salmon will take some beating!

First time there Friendly Food really nice, ham eggs and chips. Ham is off the bone. Grand kids loved it except for the toilets. I have to say they could be better, like a good clean would not go amiss.

Nice family pub, always has something going on for the kids, dinosaur's, princesses bouncy castles etc, as well as adult entertainment. Food is also good. Nice community focused pub which is rare these days

I ordered food on just eat from the walnut tree in Weston super mare. The food was disgusting. steak was over cooked. lasagne was dreadful. literally tasted like asda microwave lasagne, had two bites and couldn’t even eat the rest of it. the garlic bread was just wet through and soggy! absolutely disgusting. £31 odd on this rubbish. I have never been so disappointed and disgusted in my life that a so called chef can get two meals so wrong.

One of our favourite places to eat, food is cooked well and staff are friendly.

We had our mums wake there we had a buffet at 225 pounds and it was terrible they must of spent no more then 30 pounds pizza and quiche no bigger then ur finger cut up sausages and crudettes and hummus and three small trays of sandwiches... this was suppose to be £7 ahead for 25 people but it wasnt enough for no more than 10 people...I was really embarrassed in front of my guests and I would definitely not recommend them again and was definitely overcharged as the numbers didnt add up...its not about the quality of food although we've had better it was about the quantity.... Definitely not worth the money

Who ever this new manager is she needs to go. She was loud, rude and extremely unprofessional. Please get her out now. Because my family who always come in will never be back until she gone. I thought this place had taken a step forward. She makes its like a rough old bozzer again.

Stayed in camper in carpark and had a meal in the pub, Meal was fantastic and a great price, There was a party in the conservatory but staff were very busy but still made a great effort to ensure we were catered for and were very polite, Live music was a great touch and overall we had a fantastic night, Locals were very friendly, Will definitely call again 👏👏

Our visit was not what it was previously. Which is why we chose this pub. The floor was dirty and. Full of food. Just my family in our group spent £80 + Dirty glasses, food too crusted around the edges to enjoy or eat all...

Free pool table all day Mondays, 2 x steaks for a very reasonable price on Tuesdays, keep watching the billboards for other offers. Great kiddie's playing area( and safe) ! Try it out!

We attended the princess family day today and it was amazing! So many little stalls to offer to entertain the children and of course giving us adults a bit of relax time! Really friendly team, happy to help and amazing vibes. We'll be back 🤩

We stumbled upon the restaurant on our way back from Brean last week. A family of 4 plus one dog with us, 2 of us are gluten free and one a vegetarian, so it's often tricky to find something to satisfy all our needs!! And what a find this was - excellent menu for gluten free, delicious food for vegetarians, and the dog was allowed in 😁 The staff were helpful, friendly and available. And there was lots going on whilst we were there including free bouncy castle and some small local vendors on site. A great visit, thank you.

We came for a event going on for our daughter, a Dino day, it was a very nice pub great gardens with play area and we stayed for lunch which was fresh and very nice. Only problems we had was A parking was very hard to get out or in when very busy which it was with the dino event. And it is by a very busy road nearly all day. Other then that would would come back for a meal.

Called to book a table for a family of four and to check that they are dog friendly (which they are). Was not able to book because the 'pool lads' were coming in at that time. But was told to come along, there will be plenty of room. Lovely. When we arrived, there was no staff around. We stood in the doorway for ages, unsure whether there was a specific are for dining. When we did see someone and asked where we should sit, she laughed and said 'ummm anywhere'. Not a very warm welcome. I wanted to give it a chance, so sat at a small round table by the bar while we tried to figure out if there was somewhere better to sit in another part of the building, then heard the same member of staff being rude to another customer about having to wait their turn. We decided to leave. On the way out, we saw another customer sneaking macdonalds in through the window to feed his kids who had been waiting for 2.5 hours for their food and were starving. A lucky escape for us, I think. There was plenty of opportunity for this to have been a better experience.... - when we called to enquire about a table, we could have been given more information about what having the 'pool lads' there meant.... Was this the reason for delayed service? - when we arrived, have someone available to greet and make us feel welcome and also explain that there was a long wait for meals. - have helpful staff, it costs nothing to smile, even when it is busy. My final observation was that this all happened on a Tuesday evening, there were tables vacant in the bar area, so it didn't appear to be full, so maybe some additional staff would benefit this pub? Such a shame, we are not local, but here for a holiday, we had seen this pub a few times and I really wanted to go there for a family meal out (with the dogs) to break up our week camping.

I actually really like it here, although, its only a 3 minute walk from my house and I'm to lazy to walk elsewhere. Lipstick on glasses with no apology My rare steak came out medium at the least and had quite a bit of gristle. The kids pizza however, is a must.... I will in future buy this instead of an over priced adult meal. I will continue to come here as I said above... I am to lazy to walk to another close by pub and its illegal to drink and drive. Plus I enjoy teasing the staff!

Enjoyable meal with our family.

Met at the pub with a mate - ate the wonderful Jacket Potato with Tuna for lunch. Great portion size, plenty of salad, the tuna mayo was made to perfection. Staff very attentive and offered great service. Very good standards with a fanastic drinks range....

What a nice family pub, this Saturday there was a kids entertainer with Disco and games, bouncy castle, face painting and playground with swings and a slide, good food and nice laid back atmosphere
