Pleasant village pub...went in a bit early to comment on atmosphere but usually very atmospheric

Great beer garden proper sun trap. Beer flowing and good music. No food served here

A down to earth bar with large indoor and outdoor areas. Very reasonably priced products on offer.

No children after 7pm, clearly means loads of trouble happens at this pub then, why else would you have a stupid rule like that, 7:10 and sat in the sun after a long week, asked to leave as we had our daughter with us. Rude! Although now found a much nicer pub just down the Road who are dog and child friendly and do food so their loss really!

Was told I was too drunk to be here , I don't drink alcohol! Lady behind the bar was very rude.

They do not sell food here. Nice pub for a quick drink, they keep there beer good, have a good choice of drinks, shame they dont sell coffee/tea. Nice friendly place. The toilets are not good as they dont look as they have been cleaned and the loo brush was gross

Door staff, vile and aggressive. My husband and I were alone after our friends left. Whatever the rights and wrongs, we were accosted whilst sitting and finishing our drinks when the 2 door staff approached us. They were upset by a conversation 2 of our friends had been having at the bar.....however they waited until our friends left before they approached us to complain. We had NO idea what had happened and, quite frankly, they were and are a disgrace.

Previously visited here and thought it was great, however last visit we were ignored at the bar whilst two staff pandered to some locals sat at the bar, another local came up behind us and was served before us, we voted with our feet and left

It most be over 30 years since I last went in the Golden Lion in Worle, and there was a very pleasant ambience and sent a couple of hours chatting with friends over drinks.

Me and a few friends went their brought 1 drink each then the “owner” told us to leave for no reasoning at all other than they thought one of us were sick in the toilet which never happened then when we asked him why we are Being kicked out he told us to “shut up” and “that legally we don’t need to know”

No atmosphere no soul in this place

Was a cracking pub until new landlord took over. Been in there a few times nowhere near as clean with very poor customer service. I personally will not step foot in there until there is a new landlord which I don't think will very long

I went to the golden lion to meet up with my mate's. The first time I have been here in year's, the beer is excellent, the staff are nice and friendly. Nearly forgot to mention, the price's are fantastic. Will definitely be going back to this victuallers establishment in the future.

The best pub in Worle hands down! Never a boring evening when we go here. And the pints are about half the price of a pint in Bristol.

Pleasant enough as a local pub but in need of some tlc in certain areas. Good selection of beverages & very good for sporting fans, as we discovered having visited for a quiet drink when the football was on 🙂.

Always friendly and good value for money. Drinks really cheap compared to anywhere I've been. Great atmosphere.

Was down to visit family for a few days and came here, the staff are so nice and welcoming even remembered our drinks we had. Would definitely recommend going here and will be heading back when we next around Worle. Love it 👍

Always been OK but the new team in there have created an amazing atmosphere and seemingly made it the place to go in Worle.

Only popped in here because I was visiting Maria's fish bar across the road and didn't want to wait in the car. Ordered a half pint each for me and the wife which arrived after my meal was ready, I would have left but the overworked barmaid already had my tenner. I don't think I'll be returning, the management don't seem to care about their staff or their customers.

Fantastic. Great sports bar, Especially for football and excellent for drinking and socializing very friendly. If you haven't tried yet try it well worth a visit you will be welcomed.

Decent drinks for a decent price. Nice and clean too. Only problem is I got the overwhelming feeling everyone wanted me to leave because I wasn't a local.

I enjoyed my time there, very clear new rules, no issues relaxing and enjoying a couple of half lagers.

Well, where do I begin, firstly I suffer with bad hips and sneaked in the exit only but checked first that I was sticking to the 2 metre rule only to be rudely confronted by the bar person and saying I shouldn't come in that way, I apologised but still continued to go on about it, I work in a place where masks are worn all day. To add to this when he was discussing one of my guests who is 21 he said she couldn't even be in the pub!!!!! At to top it all while he's talking to his manager he a foot away let alone 2 metres and it gets better the manager is mingling with other customers on the bench clearly not adhering to the social distancing guidelines. Not going there again. What a bunch of idiots.

Shame when they have so many screens and a big sporting event they refuse to put the sound on & drown it out with music that no-one is listening to, even when asked. Lost it's atmosphere a bit since changing hands recently. Cheap alcohol a benefit though.

Often go to The Lion which changed hands yet again a few months back. When it first re-opened last year it was a perfect balance of sport and music with a good atmosphere & cheap drinks. Now they keep the screens on silent even when most in there to watch The Cricket World Cup Final. Loud music playing over it, so no atmosphere for punters in pub. Asked barmaid to turn it up & she said she couldn't as people were listening to music. No-one was. Despite the pub being a stone's throw for me, I won't watch sport in there again. I'll walk a few more hundred yards to a pub that actually plays the sport with sound. Poor management decision that! Disappointed. If you don't want to show sport and expect people to enjoy it, take your screens down, or let people hear it.

Cheap drinks and friendly staff.

A very clean and tidy pub. Great for people that enjoy sports. They have many screens around the pub. They also have a skittle alley, and a pool table. Also on a Tuesday evening you can play killer pool. Landlord and landlady are very friendly. And if you fancy fish and chips, there is one over the road.

Decent tidy and clean pub and cheap drinks. Atmosphere seemed fine and relaxed.

Great sense of community can be very busy but well looked after.

Only gave it one star because there was no option for no stars!

The land lady got right up in my girlfriends face and was really aggressive towards her, when she did nothing wrong. It was seriously weird and uncalled for. She was shouting in her face for no reason and she had a voice which went straight though me which was also annoying.

A very welcome change to this pub has made it a great place to enjoy a few pints with good company.

Visited twice in the past 2 weeks, enjoyed both occasions. Spent a couple of hours here on Saturday night with my visiting family from North Wales, they all loved it in the Golden Lion and could not believe the prices, will visit again soon. Thanks.

I am severely disabled and I was having a pleasant drink with a lovely young couple Out of nowhere the owner was in my face and I was on my mobility scooter. A what I can only describe as a little, narrow minded rat was hiding behind the owner, and apparently he had said that I had peed in a glass in the woodspring, and threw it over the staff . The owner was basically bullying me, and embarrassing me in front of other customers. He could have rang the woodspring to verify that the whole thing was totally wrong and untrue. It is hard enough being in pain 24/7, and treated like I am inferior to others . I am only 52 and worked hard all my life up until my last 6 vertebre basically collapsed. I really struggle most days to just get out of my house. This was the first time I had been in worle high street for a few years . The owner is a bully and a coward, and he should be ashamed of his actions and behavior. I was threatened and intimated for something that I had never done. Shame on you Golden lion

The owners have done a great job with this pub, i have been in for many years, and from its past reputation, i wasnt expecting much, but this place has turned into an absolute gem! New decor, great selection of lagers and at a really cheap price, probably the best pub around here. I will definitly be visiting againg and recommending them to all. We done!

The glass was not clean which I was handed and when I went to make a complaint she denied the dirt was clearly there. Also only one bathroom has a lock on it.

I haven’t been in this pub for at least 2 years, me and my friend popped in for a quick pint after a busy day we both needed the toilet so started with the toilet on the way in to be greeted by an older lady quite short screaming at us saying we are not aloud to use the toilets how dare we think it’s okay ( we was busting been driving for hours) and then I politely told her we was buying a drink to be shored at and told we have no money for a drink and we was barred and to get the f**k out... I asked to speak to manager and she said I don’t have f**ing manager so as a licensee myself I asked who had the license to then be shooed out the door... never been treated so disgustingly in all my life will never ever return

New beginnings, new start, a locals, local. Need wifi, food will be good when ready. Come on Worle, support your locals, would hate it to close and become a Tesco express!

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere

After careful contemplation I really need to write a review on the worst meal I have ever been presented with at the Golden Lion in Worle Weston super Mare. A party of 36 ladies paid over £700 pounds for our Christmas dinner. The tables were not laid correctly,no cutlery for starters,no condiments,no table cloths no table decorations. The room was so small everything had to be passed up the long table. The veg were brought out first and. Sat for well over 30 mins before meals were served so were sent back to be warmed (you were lucky if the were returned). The meals were cold despite the potatoes being burned, you could not cut through the stuffing the meat was tepid the Sole was hard and inedible. I personally received my meal at 9.45pm after a 7.30pm start which was the lemon sole resembling the sole of a shoe. Some got no sweet at all after constantly asking. Utter shambles and a complete disaster. After talking to the manager we were offered less than £2 each compensation which added further insult to injury. I will be writing to the owner asking for a full refund. We shall see!!!!

Party of 30+ for Christmas meal, crammed into small room like sardines. Ran out of wine glasses, as all used for prawn cocktails. Very slow service, and long wait between courses. Veg brought out before plates of turkey, and was cold or Luke warm. Stuffing balls like tennis balls, roast potatoes burnt & black. Basically could cope with large party. Cost £20 a head, and to add insult to injury offered £60 refund between 30+. Definitely will not be going back!

A party of 35 of us booked the Golden Lion for our xmas meal. From beginning to end it was a disaster! Firstly, the seating did not allow for any movement around the tables, once seated, everyone else had to move off their seats if you needed to go for toilet or drinks. This meant that the two waitresses had to pass food up the length of the tables or over peoples heads. The table had no tablecloths, only a knife and fork were on the table. No condiments! The roast potatoes were black, the stuffing ball as big as a tennis ball and gravy tasted of balsamic vinegar, very unappetising. It was plain the kitchen could not cope with this amount of people. The vegetables were cold and placed on the table fifteen minutes before the main meal! There were delays between the first customers receiving their starter, mains and desserts of up to half an hour before others received theirs. I could go on but I think you will get the gist. This is not a venue for groups of people so beware if you have booked for the xmas party. Unfortunately, we will not be going back.

This is not abuse. What has happened to the Golden Lion? The food was a disgrace. Veg came out 1/2 hour before main meals and were cold. The roast potatoes were burnt and in a case charcoal. One lady complained and they came back raw. The fish was over cooked and dry. The Christmas pudding was cheap and horrible. I am not fussy with food but 28/29 people cannot be wrong. Our Christmas outing was ruined by the food as the only enjoyable thing was the mince pies and the music.

16oz tomahawk steak !! Just wow !! A must go ..... perfect cooked chips..... crispy and fluffy...... the lions house salad was amazing !!!

Where do I start? I first came here for lunch 2 weeks ago and although there was a long wait for our food it was presented beautifully, but albeit my faggots and mash were Luke warm. Today I ordered the same, with my friend ordering the beef lasagne. After a long wait the dishes arrived with the lasagne being burnt on top and the faggots medium apart from the third one which was rock hard. My friend took her Lasagne back to ask for a replacement to which the barmaid replied saying it was only burnt on top!!! Also when she asked for a glass of water for me she told my friend to bring back HER glass and she would top it up! I was initially impressed with this place 2 weeks ago as I believe in supporting local businesses but I would have to think again about recommending it to my friends and coming here again for food.
