This place is excellent for entertainment and traditional Greek Food. John the owner always amazes us for the acts he books in this venue and then the traditional meze John serves up is unbelievable. This place is local to us and well supported on its special nights and also on its take away food evenings .

I was so keen to look inside the old Walmer Castle pub in Westgate, and see how it is now as a Greek Meze restaurant. All the reviews are great, and for very good reason. The food is really fresh, tasty and plentiful, (I hadn't eaten all day, yet I was beaten). The wine list is very good too, with some real pleasers in there (primitivo, Chateanneuf-du-Pape etc.) at truly honest prices. I love what has been created here, and wish it all the success it truly deserves. If you're within striking distance, please give it a go. You will become another regular, I'm sure.

Recently came here with my 10 year old daughter and my parents and left so well fed I thought I wouldn’t need to eat again for a week. This is traditional Greek generosity in the amount of food given but I should say every mouthful was delicious. There is no menu. The kitchen brings out the dishes they are cooking that night, starting with with dips (tyrokafteri, taramasalata, hummus, tzatziki) some dolmades, and progressing through various courses to larger, meat based dishes and ending with fruit. It’s slow, and that’s good. You’ll need that bit of time between courses. This is not the place for a quick bite - you’re in for the evening! But it’ll be a fantastic evening. The atmosphere, music and decor is traditionally Greek and the staff are friendly and helpful to a fault. Cannot praise highly enough. If you’re lucky enough to be in the area, I highly recommend.

A good dining experience. Greek food at its best but without the setting. The restaurant itself doesn't pretend it's a little part of Greece in Westgate, so the atmosphere was what we made it. But we were a large party and took up a few tables. The starter course catered very well with vegetarian options but sadly not the main course. Choices were minimal for vegetarian. I'm not sure about dessert as I don't remember anyone having any. But a nice touch was the staff brought out fruit and little pastry treats at the end of the meal. Reasonable price per head for the amount of food. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Unbelievable in every way. Great value, superb food and service with a smile. Will definitely go again probably for one of the entertainment nights. Spread the word!

We had made several attempts to dine here but they only open for a few nights, Well we have made it at last and all i can say it was a really excellent evening mezze with super food that just kept coming. Staff were pleasant and told us all about it before we started. Be prepared for a relaxing evening, absolutely no rush and probably a good idea as the food is very tasty and filling. Background music and a really nice atmosphere, a little surprising as it does not look a lot from outside. Spotlessly clean and we loved it. We will certainly be back again soon, thank you all at Walmer Castle Greek.

Ring to make sure they're open! We were staying in Birchington for a few days and decided to walk to Westgate on Sea for a drink and then on to the Walmer Castle Greek Taverna which showed online as being open between 5pm - 10 pm - so after walking 4 miles we arrived at 7pm to be told that they were only doing takeaways that day as the owner had had a surprise visit from friends and would only be cooking for them! We were tired and hungry - so I asked if we could order a takeaway and just eat it out of the packaging in their completely empty restaurant - but the answer was no! So - quite disappointed as we have eaten there before and it is good value for money - if a lttle run down. So - in future I will definately call before I go to make sure they are open for diners - and you should too -

This was our first visit and won't be out last. The food was amazing, it just seemed to keep coming. The service was first class. The price was surprisingly lower than expected. We were celebrating my son's birthday, we were with family and close friends, the restaurant is lovely and has such a wonderful atmosphere. I can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and we will definitely be returning.

THIS RESTAURANT IS SO GOOD I COULD EAT HERE EVERY NIGHT AND THE PRICE WELL IT HAS TO BE THE BEST PRICE I HAVE EVER SEEN -- WIN, WIN, WIN, GREAT VENUE. WARM AND ATTENTIVE STAFF BUT THEY ARE BETER THAN STAFF. AND THE OWNER IS A VERY GOOD FRIEND OF MINE. BUT IF I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD I WOULD SAY SO. BELIEVE ME . SO DON'T GO I WANT ALL TO MYSELF.

Having had a bad experience at another so called Greek taverna, I wasn’t expecting a great deal, boy was I wrong!!!!, firstly the staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful, then there’s the food, oh my days, I don’t think I’ve eaten so much, lovely and fresh tasting, fresh grilled pork and chicken kebabs, warm pitta with sides, definitely recommended and will definitely be going back

What a great place for food and entertainment, nothing was to much trouble for the friendly staff, the food was fresh and plentiful, the party atmosphere and entertainment (Tina Turner tribute) was fantastic! Would highly recommend for a great night out, we will definitely be returning soon!

This is a hidden gem in Westgate on Sea! Truly authentic Greek Cuisine at a crazily low price (ssshhh!) We regularly have their Mezze to takeaway. It is stunningly good value (I can't understand how they make a profit!) My wife and I are elderly and honestly we've learned to share one Mezze, because if you order one each you'll be stuffed and eating it the following day! A Mezze comprises warm pitta bread with Houmous, Tsatziki and Taramasalata, plus grilled halloumi cheese and kofta meatballs. Then the main course comprises the most delicious Moussaka, chargrilled pork and chicken bites and a Greek salad with olives and feta cheese. For dessert a selection of fresh fruit. And the price? Wait for it! £10 only!!!! If you eat in on a weekend this becomes around £16 but it's still stupendous value! I can't recommend this place highly enough. Takeaway is fabulous and for eat in its simple but pleasant and the staff are very nice. Use it or lose it folks!

Christmas meal with work colleagues. The food is all freshly cooked but it's not great quality. The fruit dessert was 2 pieces of pineapple 2 of melon and a few grapes. I think they would be better to charge abit more and up the quality. The staff are pleasant and we were not rushed. It's not somewhere I would choose to go.

Very nice, great atmosphere, had the meze so good very tasty especially the Moussaka . Wine was excellent as well. Would highly recommend a meal here.

In addition to its other food this restaurant also offers takeaway mezze . This is not just a few small dishes but a host of substantial and delicious items. Competition in Westgate for takeaways is surprisingly strong but the Walmer Castle is the best.

Amazing food, unbelievably good value, great for families, lots of dancing, lovely atmosphere. Be sure to go!

We had longed for a great Greek for years. Ever since the Margate restaurant shut. It turns out that the owner of the Margate restaurant moved here! Such a delight. The food is wonderful and the servers were great. We will all be coming back!!
