The Wallingford Tearoom in South Oxfordshire

The best afternoon tea around! I have been several times for afternoon tea and have also had the soups, Quiches and sausage roll, everything is amazing! The tearoom is such s beautiful room! It is a must if you are visiting Wallingford I feel very lucky to live around the corner from this lovely place.

Best afternoon tea ever! The team catered for our complex dietary requirements and were incredibly helpful. Plenty of tea choices and delicious coffee - both had free refills. Other soft drinks were available and these were also brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for them including splitting the payment between five of us. Thank you so much for such a wonderful celebration for my sister's hen weekend!

Another lovely visit to the Wallingford Tearoom. We took friends there for lunch after a good wander around the Wallingford Arcade. Lunch was enjoyed by all 4 of us, every plate totally cleared. Nothing is too much trouble for Philip & Laura, from the friendly welcome, great food & service to providing me with a delicious gluten free lunch. A lovely time had by all. Just had the most amazing afternoon tea at Wallingford tearooms. We were there to celebrate my mother's 91st birthday. The savoury and sweet foods were delightful. The tearoom is small and intimate and tables decorated beautifully. The staff are friendly and attentive. Overall a perfect experience. The best afternoon tea I've ever had.

What a great experience. All parts of the experience were perf3ct, from sandwiches scones and cakes. Lovely selection of a huge variety of drinks hot and cold. Really passionate chef. Very clean well maintained toilet Highly recommeded

One of the best cafes I have ever visited. Superb food, ingredients, service and a nothing is too much trouble attitude towards customers which is both welcome and refreshing. They even cooked 2 excellent sausages for our dog Zeus! Could not recommend highly enough. FYI - the dog friendly area is in the downstairs Courtyard

This is such a lovely tea room with delicious home cooked food and very friendly and helpful staff. I can't understand anyone disliking the cakes (see previous review). We had the chocolate orange cake this time which was so moist, light and very tasty!

The place is beautiful, very elegant in Wallingford lovely relaxing environment. Been here twice now for coffee and cake, the coffee is good but both times I felt the cake was lacking first time chocolate orange just didn't taste as nice as I expected, second time lemon cake and it must have just been the tiniest hint of lemon as I could barely taste it. I did want to go for a coffee and scone on a separate occasion mid morning mid week, but was amazed it wasn't open no sign with opening hours or reason for closure. I got my scone in Waitrose instead which was lovely.

The Wallingford tea rooms was recommended to us by guides in the Wallingford museum. We ordered coffee and scones. Service was excellent and the freshly baked scones were light and delicious. Definitely a cafe to return to on another occasion for more home cooked treats.

We have visited the Wallingford Tearoom on many occasions for an afternoon cup of tea and cake, which is absolutely delicious. Today we went for our first breakfast experience and was so impressed! We had the full English Breakfast which was hot and freshly cooked and very tasty! We will definitely have breakfast there again! I cannot recommend this tearoom enough, everything they serve is home cooked and delicious!

Had a very nice lunch and was impressed with the whole experience , staff very friendly My one comment would be it's obvious alot of thought and time has gone into giving a good impression and customers a good experience these they all do well but was surprised to watch the waitresses handling the cakes putting them on the plates using their hand and not using cake tongs or even gloves , slightly let it down but almost perfect .

We have just had the most delicious Christmas Afternoon Tea, 1 Savoury and 1 Sweet and both were very, very tasty. Probably too late to recommend this seasonal treat, but I can wholeheartedly recommend their standard ones too. Lovely staff plus they never rush you.

Advertised as dog friendly, walked over to find it's only dog friendly if you sit outside in the cold and rain... Not what I call dog friendly

My 92-year-old father treated my daughter and I to the most wonderful afternoon tea at the Wallingford Tearoom. It was a meal to remember. The room is ideal for afternoon tea - high ceilinged, stunning fireplaces, wooden flooring and the food itself was wonderful. The sandwiches were delicious, the scones some of the best we've ever had and a fabulous array of little cakes. All served with a smile

Lovely little quaint tearoom, first class service and menu with lots of tasty treats set amongst antiques and various characters.

I can highly recommend visiting here. The Afternoon Tea (savoury or sweet) is really good, the staff are delightful and the service is excellent. I've had a few visits here now and will definitely be here again soon.

Afternoon tea for lunch was quite good. The sandwiches were very tasty. The scones and clotted cream were delicious. The sweet treats were amazing. We did not have a reservation, but the chef had the ingredients and made a lovely tea for me.

Went twice and bought takeaway frangipane! Lovely ambience and decor, relaxing classical music hand cooked food on the premises. Staff were attentive but under trained probably due to Covid staff shortages so we forgave that! Lots of stairs to access cafe.

We had a wonderful takeaway afternoon tea. Everything was excellent. Sandwiches were fresh and tasty. Scones were good. The little cakes were amazing. Only thing would be a little more cream and jam. Would highly recommend.

Tucked away above the lamb arcade in a perfectly decorated room - this is a real delight. The breakfast is a real treat. Everything thoughtfully prepared & presented. I had only had tea and cake here before (gorgeous home baking) but the food is wonderful....

I had a fabulous birthday tea with friends in the courtyard, all socially distanced and absolutely delicious - especially the melt-in-your mouth scones...There was more than we could eat, so my husband enjoyed the doggy bag of leftovers 😂

This is a place of charm, atmosphere and delicious food. The team are truly passionate and quite rightly proud of every aspect of the experience. It’s a wonderful, independent place to visit for afternoon tea, lunch or a cuppa. You will not be disappointed.

I collected 3 Afternoon Teas, one sweet, one savoury and one vegetarian option. Beatifully packaged and absolutely delicious. There are also prepared meals available which looked equally tasty. Highly recommend and we will be back!

A group of us enjoyed a delicious lunch today at The Wallingford Tearoom. The Chef is very talented and was very accommodating of our dietary requirements. We are looking forward to returning so we can sample his cakes!
