Nice time since refurb - Tom was cracking!

Meal with friends on a Wednesday evening. Food was good, nice portion sizes, good value. Staff were amazing. Ordering, the lady behind the bar was friendly and helpful. The guy who brought our food was polite and friendly. Really impressed with our experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ will be coming back again.

Wagon and Horses has just reopened following refurbishment. It’s a pity that the food and service don’t match up with the decor. My Mum and I waited 30 minutes for our fish and chips. When it finally arrived the fish was so thin that it had curled up in the batter during the frying and the chips were greasy. It was Tuesday at about 1.45 when we ordered and there were approximately 20 people dining. The table next to us were waiting for their meals when we arrived. Eventually the man went to the bar to enquire about their food and was told the tickets hadn’t gone to the kitchen. They were given a free drink each. Their food finally arrived when we were nearly finished. To add insult to injury I then ended up with indigestion. Fur coat and no knickers or as Paul Hollywood would say “style over substance “ I won’t be going back again even though it is my local and 5 minutes walk from home. Get your priorities right! There is no point in refurbishing if the food and the service is lousy.

Ended up here after a poor visit to local carvery. Lovely welcome when we arrived. Couldn't get app to work but easily ordered at the till. Polite staff, food took a little while to come but when it did it was great! Nice atmosphere and very reasonable prices.

We had the sizzler chicken & veg , very pleased with taste and portion size . Staff were efficient and friendly .

Credit where it's due! We went on Saturday night for the singer, and a meal. Expectations were really low after our last couple of visits. But... I have to say the new management seem to have really made a difference. The food was sizzling like it used to be! And... The staff could not have been more attentive, cheerful and helpful. The singer was great as well, and we had a great night. They're closed now till September as the chairs and decor do need a bit of TLC, but we'll definitely be back when they re-open. Thanks again for a great night.

Fairly standard pub food. Nothing too wrong, but not too much to excite either. Staff were pleasant and polite. Okay, but a bit lacklustre.

Me and my friend have just ate here and the food was amazing. Our server Darius was very friendly and keen to help us with everything we needed. I would definitely recommend taking a trip to this place.

Had a lovely lunch here today. Salmon was excellent, highly recommend. Cooked perfectly, flavour was perfect. Came on a sizzling plate of lovely mixed veg. Bar lady gave excellent service, friendly and very helpful. The chef even made an appearance and what a happy young man he was too. All in all a lovely lunch experience. Thank you

Walking passed to the entrance and all the windows are perishing. Walked in and was shown our table. Seats falling apart. Table looked grubby but not sticky. Orderer food and my wife's steak was tough and my chicken burger was luke warm at best. No body checked to see how our meal was and if we were enjoying it. Will not be coming back again. This place needs a major refurbishment.

We know things can get busy, and sickness is hard to plan for, but when food is taking well over 60 minutes to come out....maybe there should be a sign out front advising how long the wait is, so people can make an informed decision!! Poor staff having to defend against so many questions about waiting times.

We visited yesterday lunchtime having visited a relative in hospital. My husband had mixed grill which he loved. The other two of us had fish and chips. The fish was barely cooked but having communicated this to the pleasant staff we were told that they couldn’t recook it (due to cross contamination… I understand that), they couldn’t cook us something else, and they couldn’t issue a refund as there was no manager there . We were left with our meals. We couldn’t eat the fish, so had a fairly pricey snack of chips and peas. Although the staff were polite and friendly, we were not satisfied at all . If there is a problem that can only be sorted by a manager, then a manager should be present or contactable.

Five of us ate here this evening. The staff were very welcoming, speedy service and fantastic food, we were not disappointed. Will definitely eat here again. Thanks guys 👍👍👍👍👍

We used to visit the Wagon and Horses every month for a ladies get together, however, it went downhill and we stopped visiting. Recently we were told that it was under new management, so we decided to give it another go and are very pleased we did. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive and the whole experience was good. We will definitely be making this our monthly meeting place once again.

Great food, friendly staff and easy to order by phone using the table QR code. Not nice to see cobwebs on the inside of the fire door near the tables though.

I highly recommend this gastropub for its good food, value for money, and quick service. It's the perfect place to enjoy a satisfying meal in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

Needs more people in the kitchen. 50 mins for food is a looong time when you're hungry. The fact that it came out warm and not hot didn't help.

Managed to get a spot on father's day at short notice. The food has massively improved since my last visit, the steak was perfect and the dessert really nice. Frd a family of 6 for £60 and another £20 on a round of drinks

The food was shocking, I'd imagine leather to be less chewy than my chicken Gyros. My brothers fish and chips, had 8 chips on the plate and the fish looked like it had hardly seen the deep fat fryer. Staff however were exceptionally friendly and offered us free desert. I can not offer any stars for food or atmosphere but I would give 4 stars for the upfront staff.

Ordered & paid for our food at 3.50pm Sat waiting 2 lads that ordered & paid for there food just before me had eaten there's & left. I then asked where our meals were the waitress asked inthe kitchen we still had to wait another 15 minutes !! Our food arrived at 4.45pm..that was 55 minutes waiting & the pub wasn't busy. We enjoyed our meals buf if was a bit of z wait.

Ordered chicken Gyros only 1 piece of chicken the size of a penny very disappointing. Mac cheese a lot better.

Place has picked up massively from where it was a couple years ago - food comes out hot and fresh, new menu is really good too. Drinks at a reasonable price and all the staff are lovely. If you’re on the fence of whether or not to come back - would highly recommend now. Well done to the team for getting it back on its feet!

Had lunch here with the family on Saturday afternoon…food was great and the staff very accommodating. There was a problem with the till and Tom and the blonde girl working were very professional and calm resolving the issues. Both friendly and great workers…enhanced our visit. Wish all pub workers were this way.

We had a great dinner. Everything was served hot and with a smile even though they were short staffed. We were told on arrival there would be a wait for food, which we were more than happy with. The staff and the landlord were completely on the ball with everything. Thank you for making our evening for a family birthday dinner a fab experience.

Food was awful. Brought out wrong dishes, forgot sides and was cold. Order was taken wrong. Burger came out soggy and absolutely dripping in bbq sauce. Mac and cheese was cold and tasteless. Such a shame as used to be a great spot but has been steadily declining the past couple of years. Will not be returning. It wasn't event busy when we attended, very bad experience.

Food great, a bit let down by bar service. There is often only one person serving between 5 and 6 and often a prolonged wait to order food and drinks.

For my first time,I found it very friendly and welcoming, the bar staff was very efficient, my daughters actually ate the whole meal, so will be definitely be visiting again Overall a very pleasant experience.

Arrived at 1 45 pm warm welcome plenty of tables to choose from my wife and I ordered mini mix grill. Plus we ordered pint Gunness and diet coke .food took about 15 minutes and not let down by the portions. Plus a good pudding thank for your service.

July 2020....when I gave The Wagon & Horses just 1 star when I wrote...over the last four to five years the Wagon & Horses has declined. Visited about four weeks ago for a Sunday roast in the evening. The roast chicken was hard, chewy and clearly 're-heated. It just wasn't nice. It was hard work to eat it and not a meal worth repeating. Visited again this week, the empty tables were strewn with 'dead' glasses and plates, yet it wasn't really that busy. Our meals arrived at different intervals and one meal was cold in the centre. When we complained there was no apology but the member of staff said "I really need to sort out the chefs". A replacement meal arrived by which time the rest of us had finished & not even a sorry. The tables around us were still not cleared. And the toilets, well the brilliant boys, was in a disgusting state. One cubicle was well, in such a state that if I'd seen it before I'd eaten my meal I would have been totally put off eating anything. So the toilets obviously weren't getting checked. It needs strong management to go in and restore good customer service and values, and to get a grip on getting the basics right. Disappointing, four or five years ago it wasn't like this. So two of our last visits have been disappointing, so much so I'd ask myself whether I'd go back again any time soon???????? Since my last review approximately 2 years ago, and now being August 2022, I'd have to say that it's got better. I've had a few meals, plus I've visited for a few beers in the beer garden. And it has improved. Maybe a change of local management, but definitely better than it was. The kitchen closed very early on our last visit, there was a big notice on the bar at 7.15pm saying that the kitchen was closing at 7.30pm. Maybe short staffed or maybe because it was particularly hot, either way there wasn't quite enough time to get an order in. February 2024...it's definitely getting better. A new team for the last two or so years and it's noticeably better. Nice place to eat, good staff, good food for the money and filling. Parking can be a bit of a squeeze when busy, so park over the road if you don't like parking in tight spaces.

A superb meal tonight the Wagon. Had the Chinese pork belly, the pork was very tasty and the veg was cooked perfectly one of the nicest meals I’ve ever had. Would highly recommend.

Great family pub. Good selection of drinks and menu the usual pub grub, recommend the sizzling plates. Manager responsive and approachable and takes an interest in his regulars.

Food awful & cold. 1meal completely missing from the delivery and when I phoned I was told to contact delivery company. They only deliver, not cook & bag up the food!
