Good rest-stop on our way to Birmingham from Bath for a meal and toilet break. Friendly service and the prices on the food are reasonable. Had a "big breakfast" that is on the menu for £7.99. Refillable coffee for £2.25.

Booked a table weeks ago for our 10 year anniversary. It was our first visit their. It was Friday night at 7pm and it was packed so we were very glad we booked ahead to garentee a table. We were shown to our reserved table and we ordered on the app which is really easy to order from. It took about 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive and when they came the waitress advised that there was a 45 minute wait for food. We were a bit disappointed that we were not told this when we were shown to our seats but we had already ordered our food the same time as ordering our drinks. 35 minutes went by and the table behind us who came in later than us had food served to them which we were a but perplexed about but within 10 more minutes ours arrived. The food was piping hot and well presented. It was very delicious and cooked nicely to our request. A little disappointed that no our came round to see if everything was OK. But they were busy. When we had finished our plates were quickly cleared away. We then waited another 15 minutes for our desserts to be brought out. The lemon and raspberry mouse was very rich but delicious so I was glad it was only a small portion. The Cadbury sundea was plentiful. During our meal there were two birthdays celebrations going on which added to a great atmosphere with everyone joining in with the birthday songs. For mains we had the mixed grill and the hunters chicken both were equally excellent. Great value for money. We were impressed with the food. We highly recommend The Wagon And Horses. We will be back to see what our children think of the food as they are hard to please. We give them a 9/10 it would have been a 10 had they had not told us about the wait on the food when we arrived.

We have been visiting this restaurant for a couple of years, but they have never managed to cook a steak correctly. After their refurbishment, we decided to give it another try and ordered three medium-rare sirloin steaks, but they all came out raw. I asked management to redo them since they were not cooked properly. However, the supervisor refused, saying that it would cost them money to redo the steaks and suggested reheating them instead. I couldn't believe it—were they expecting us to eat dry, reheated meat? After a few minutes of back and forth, they finally agreed to redo the steaks, but they came out well done. Clearly, the chef struggles with cooking meat. As for customer service, it seems that the staff and management don’t really understand what it means. To all locals: please spend your money where you will receive respect and quality food.

This is a good place to get a nice steak as it is surprisingly and refreshingly better quality (and cheaper) than the "steak specialist pub chain" just up the hill a mile or so from here. Honest quality feel about this place. Not the premium priced pretentious disappointing offerings that will disappoint families looking for a good beef meal.

A great evening with a fantastic band (Dickie Heart and The Stents) after our delicious food.

Revisited on Friday Night. Good food at value for money prices. Busy pub but only a 30 minute wait for food which was decent! Staff friendly…. Only thing would be deploying more staff to floor tasks like collect glasses and clean tables as sometimes tables are left uncleared for long periods of time so you see people aimlessly walking around looking for a clean table.

Ive read this back before posting and it does come across as a bad review, in truth I'm just being honest. 40 min wait on food, that's not to bad providing the wait doesn't amount to bad food (still waiting so we will see) Many tables have been covered with dirty plates cups and rubbish and not been seen to at all, it's Saturday 16:34 so I would normally expect them to be on top of this. The man behind the bar was o.k but didn't come across as very approachable. The atmosphere is comfortable and feels spacious, I like the decor and think that maybe with a little more staff to tend to tables it could be a better place, 20mins on from ordering our food and still not a single table has been seen to. The toilets are lovely, clean, and smell fresh, not wet on floor. The food turned up 23mins after ordering and was cooked just fine and hot, the steak was dry and the taste was not good, very leathery. I would eat here again but a different meal, not a fan of skillets.

The wagon and horses has had an amazing refurbishment. The chairs are lovely upholstered now, new carpet and fresh paint. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and food is very good. In the evening now you need to book, they have really turned this place around. 😊

Transformed since refit re food & staff, well worth a visit

Recently had a complete make over. What a difference. The whole place now looks fresh and inviting. Previously I had been put off by the ripped and torn chairs, wallpaper and carpet. But now with a two meal special at £12.50 what's not to like.

Great refit, they still need more staff. Food took 50 minutes to arrive. Way too long

A very disappointing experience last night. Steak wasn't cooked to order, burgers were cold, the order as a whole was incorrect (things missing, wrong nachos sent out etc). We didn't feel as though we could say how disappointed we were by this point as the server had been sent out with the wrong food at least 10 times and we just wanted to eat. The kitchen was clearly VERY disorganised. I highly doubt we will be returning.

Awful rude and slow service! When complained that hunters chicken was dry and overcooked got the response “well it’s better than being raw”. Not exactly the response expected!

Poor start for the newly renovated Wagon & Horses. We received a miserable greeting from a man behind the bar, he couldn’t make a smile never mind provide my wife and I with a decent meal. My wife’s meal was gammon with pineapple, egg, chips and peas which was all served cold and the egg was undercooked and the gammon tough. Not once did any staff ask us if our food was ok. Next time I’ll pay after our meal and not before. We didn’t even get a good-bye or thank you as we left.

Staff are exceptional. They were so busy yet so attentive and service was very quick despite the restaurant being packed. Food was cooked to perfection.

Dinner and catch up with friends for the first time since refurbishment. Good to be greeted on arrival and showed where our table was rather than having to find it as before. It was busy so we were warned there may be a 40minute order time which was fine. Our order arrived before this and was really lovely - piping hot and very tasty. The chap in charge tonight was working exceptionally hard and the whole place was working so much better than before. We’ll be back.

Visited the newly refurbished restaurant today. Was thrilled that they have had a makeover, as I swore I'd never go there again as it had seriously gone down hill. Great to have a decent restaurant again in Hucclecote. Food was very tasty and good presentation. Only problem was the wait, 30 minutes, had to complain, but was served very quickly after that. Staff were professional, friendly and very helpful. Have recommended to friends and neighbours. Will be back, but maybe more staff needed in the kitchen??

Stopped at the newly refurbished Wagon and Horses today for lunch. No problem with car parking as there is plenty of spaces and we got there just before it started to get busy. We ordered steak and chicken combo for me, 5oz rump steak for my wife and ours sons had the Greek burger with J2O’s and a couple of lattes. Sizzler pubs do accept BlueLightCard so we received a bit of a discount which is always well appreciated. All meals came with a choice of chips or fries with onion rings etc. The service was at the bar was quick but we were there before the rush and we didn’t have to wait long for the food, so thumbs up for that also. Would we eat there again, absolutely.

A really nice pub. All the members of staff were very polite and helpful. A bit of a wait for our food order but when it arrived it was really nice and worth the wait. We eat out quite alot so on my places to eat list now. Thank for a very positive visit.

Came for lunch on Friday lunchtime. Ordered 2 fish and chips with mushy peas. Had to wait 30-45 mins for food. When it arrived the cutlery was missing from table. Peas on both out plates were stone cold. Fish slightly under done. Not once whilst we were there did any ask if everything was alright. Even when the plates were taken away, nobody asked if our meal was alright, considering I had not eaten my meal you would have thought they would have asked. Looks nice now though, shame about the staff and food.

Great pub, just a few things letting it down. Service was slow at the bar. Food portions tiny, got 3 tiny chicken nuggets where I ordered chicken strips.

Wagon and Horses has just reopened following refurbishment. It’s a pity that the food and service don’t match up with the decor. My Mum and I waited 30 minutes for our fish and chips. When it finally arrived the fish was so thin that it had curled up in the batter during the frying and the chips were greasy. It was Tuesday at about 1.45 when we ordered and there were approximately 20 people dining. The table next to us were waiting for their meals when we arrived. Eventually the man went to the bar to enquire about their food and was told the tickets hadn’t gone to the kitchen. They were given a free drink each. Their food finally arrived when we were nearly finished. To add insult to injury I then ended up with indigestion. Fur coat and no knickers or as Paul Hollywood would say “style over substance “ I won’t be going back again even though it is my local and 5 minutes walk from home. Get your priorities right! There is no point in refurbishing if the food and the service is lousy.

Ended up here after a poor visit to local carvery. Lovely welcome when we arrived. Couldn't get app to work but easily ordered at the till. Polite staff, food took a little while to come but when it did it was great! Nice atmosphere and very reasonable prices.

Credit where it's due! We went on Saturday night for the singer, and a meal. Expectations were really low after our last couple of visits. But... I have to say the new management seem to have really made a difference. The food was sizzling like it used to be! And... The staff could not have been more attentive, cheerful and helpful. The singer was great as well, and we had a great night. They're closed now till September as the chairs and decor do need a bit of TLC, but we'll definitely be back when they re-open. Thanks again for a great night.

Me and my friend have just ate here and the food was amazing. Our server Darius was very friendly and keen to help us with everything we needed. I would definitely recommend taking a trip to this place.

Had a lovely lunch here today. Salmon was excellent, highly recommend. Cooked perfectly, flavour was perfect. Came on a sizzling plate of lovely mixed veg. Bar lady gave excellent service, friendly and very helpful. The chef even made an appearance and what a happy young man he was too. All in all a lovely lunch experience. Thank you

Walking passed to the entrance and all the windows are perishing. Walked in and was shown our table. Seats falling apart. Table looked grubby but not sticky. Orderer food and my wife's steak was tough and my chicken burger was luke warm at best. No body checked to see how our meal was and if we were enjoying it. Will not be coming back again. This place needs a major refurbishment.

We know things can get busy, and sickness is hard to plan for, but when food is taking well over 60 minutes to come out....maybe there should be a sign out front advising how long the wait is, so people can make an informed decision!! Poor staff having to defend against so many questions about waiting times.

We visited yesterday lunchtime having visited a relative in hospital. My husband had mixed grill which he loved. The other two of us had fish and chips. The fish was barely cooked but having communicated this to the pleasant staff we were told that they couldn’t recook it (due to cross contamination… I understand that), they couldn’t cook us something else, and they couldn’t issue a refund as there was no manager there . We were left with our meals. We couldn’t eat the fish, so had a fairly pricey snack of chips and peas. Although the staff were polite and friendly, we were not satisfied at all . If there is a problem that can only be sorted by a manager, then a manager should be present or contactable.

Five of us ate here this evening. The staff were very welcoming, speedy service and fantastic food, we were not disappointed. Will definitely eat here again. Thanks guys 👍👍👍👍👍

We used to visit the Wagon and Horses every month for a ladies get together, however, it went downhill and we stopped visiting. Recently we were told that it was under new management, so we decided to give it another go and are very pleased we did. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive and the whole experience was good. We will definitely be making this our monthly meeting place once again.

Great food, friendly staff and easy to order by phone using the table QR code. Not nice to see cobwebs on the inside of the fire door near the tables though.

Needs more people in the kitchen. 50 mins for food is a looong time when you're hungry. The fact that it came out warm and not hot didn't help.

The food was shocking, I'd imagine leather to be less chewy than my chicken Gyros. My brothers fish and chips, had 8 chips on the plate and the fish looked like it had hardly seen the deep fat fryer. Staff however were exceptionally friendly and offered us free desert. I can not offer any stars for food or atmosphere but I would give 4 stars for the upfront staff.

Ordered & paid for our food at 3.50pm Sat waiting 2 lads that ordered & paid for there food just before me had eaten there's & left. I then asked where our meals were the waitress asked inthe kitchen we still had to wait another 15 minutes !! Our food arrived at 4.45pm..that was 55 minutes waiting & the pub wasn't busy. We enjoyed our meals buf if was a bit of z wait.
