Excellent atmosphere, great service and superb food Had few very good cocktails too. We all enjoyed and had a fantastic brunch

Food was well below expectation for all meals and very over priced. For the price of the roast I expected so much better. Plates were extremely hot but the food was just warm, vegetables very little taste although yorkshires were good. Booked as an Easter Sunday roast and with advertising and cost I was expecting something much better

The pub is dated from 1471 and is as expected, old and quaint with many classic features that one would expect from such and old pub. The pub has a brilliant beer garden but also has a marquee for when the weather is not at its best. The marquee can also be booked for private functions and is a splendid size capable of hosting 40 - 100 people depending upon seating requirements. The staff are excellent with a menu that represents good value. In winter a lovely open fire will keep you warm. Dog friendly and children welcome. All in all, this pub must be considered a "go to" destination for family and friends to enjoy the traditional atmosphere.

I hope they take more care of with their food than they do with customer service. I made a mistake and booked the wrong Waggoner and Horses, including a £30 deposit. I realised my mistake about 12 hours later - a full week before the booking. Despite numerous phone calls and emails, not even the courtesy of a reply!! My mistake, lesson learned and if I’m ever that way, there’s one place off my list. I’d bet another £30 that the hard working staff don’t see any of that!! Another “bonus” for the manager/owner. Heartless

In all our years of eating out, we've never been served food so unappealing and quite obviously just thrown together out of cheap supermarket, deep-fried cast-offs, it bordered on insulting. We each tasted one small bite of everything we ordered and opted to go hungry rather than subject ourselves to further misery. We had pre-booked a table for lunch here as we were visiting the area and had read pub's website stating: "We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality of food from a varied and comprehensive menu. With food that is amongst the best in Hertfordshire, freshly and lovingly prepared by our Chef and his team. We are pushing culinary boundaries at the Waggon & Horses with a menu steeped in creativity and quality. All of our dishes are made from the finest ingredients, locally sourced where possible. " We're tempted to call in Trading Standards as the nearest local supplier of any of the food served up to us is likely Iceland.........and we don't mean the country! Dreadful is too kind a word.

The food was delicious, all well cooked and served nice and hot. Even the side salad was well prepared. Service was with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend all day long.

The atmosphere was fantastic. The food was great. Our waiter Hari made our experience special. Thank you Hari, you are doing a superb job. 👍🏻

Fantastic service and beautiful pub. Unfortunately the beef in the roast was very chewy and overly done. Other family members enjoyed their food that wasn’t the beef roast.

We held a party here in one of the rooms. All the staff and management we're incredibly helpful and friendly, especially Hari who managed large dinner order. Ideal location for a small party, especially with a Western theme.

On recommendation we booked The Wagon and Horses Pub for Xmas Lunch. On arrival we were seated at a covered snooker table with inappropriate chairs. Free drinks as part of the Xmas offer were not mentioned. The starters were sloppy and not presented well had prawns in their shells which were impossible to get out because so hard. They then served up the Turkey which was in big slices definitely not off any bird with hard veg and burnt stuffing. When we could bare it no more they brought small round Xmas puds with alcohol over them no cream or custard? The apple crumble was just edible. Think it was all made worse by the rude and ignorant manager. There were many staff but not one of them knew what they were doing…as many customers said just the most awful experience ….never again!!!!

We have been here twice now, and will be back again. Food is very good, service is excellent. Went yesterday for Sunday Lunch. Roast dinners were very good. The place was packed when we arrived for our booking at 4pm. Great drink and food menu, with plenty of choice. Characterful Pub, and a great atmosphere. Many thanks.

Unfortunately, the menu looked very appetizing before arrival, however when our Chicken, Lamb & Veg Roasts were served, the veg wasn't cooked correctly, the carrots/parsnips/cauliflower cheese were hard and the red cabbage was smothered in cinnamon (very unusual for a roast). Apart from that, the meat was nice, gravy was tasteful however is it very runny. Deserts provided FOC at the end due to the above issues were yummy, drinks were served at the expected level, however I'm afraid we wouldn't like to visit for the foreseeable future.

Was a great experience with the tasty sunday roast. We had nice staters to start with and had lamb roast which tasted amazing and served with a pleasant smile of hari. All the staff are so friendly and well professional. This is a nice pub with tasty food and friendly staff. They were quite busy when we were arrived and got a warm welcome with refreshing smiles of the staff

This place is definitely a hidden gem. The exterior gives the impression of an old inn but does not hint at the wonderful atmosphere, food and service you get when you walk in. There is plenty of parking in the pub car park and in an area opposite. This is clearly an old building, but it has been decorated in a sympathetic style so that the history hasn't been lost. The furniture is a mis-matched collection of old wooden tables with more modern dining chairs giving a sense of character but with a touch of comfort. (Outside there is a large garden that you can enjoy when the weather is warmer.) I have been here many times for lunch, but this was my first evening at the Waggon & Horses. I booked for myself and a group of girlfriends for our bi-monthly catch-up. Upon arriving we received a warm welcome from Hari who made a point of introducing himself and offering drinks once we were seated. I can certainly recommend their white Zinfandel - delicious! The menu has something for everyone. Knowing that the portions here are on the generous side we all opted to go for main and dessert. The sausage and mash was comforting and covered in a generous slick of rich gravy; the burger was juicy and well garnished; the fish and chips were beautifully cooked with crisp batter and the chicken kebab with rice was tender and full of flavour. Despite all of us having our fill with the main, we all ordered dessert! The chocolate fondant was just perfect. The sponge was light, the middle was oozing and the ice cream was creamy. Hari and the other staff were attentive during the evening without disturbing us or leaving us waiting for service. They struck a perfect balance. We will definitely come back to the Waggon & Horses. We went on a Tuesday evening and every table was booked, so you should plan ahead if you wish to visit! The other customers appeared to be a mix of ages and backgrounds which gave the place a warm buzz. It was great value for money and had a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Great for a get together.

Such a welcoming pub - we came as a group with kids on a Sunday night and they staff were so lovely - entertained the little ones and generous size meals from the kids' menu. We were camping near by and this was an excellent addition to our trip.

Came to this beautiful traditional English pub with some friends for food and drinks As we had previously visited in the past so thought we would come again staff were nice garden is beautiful but the food was really bad unfortunately I was hoping for traditional English homemade pub grub like they used to serve but was so disappointed Basically I was served really bad glorified kebab shop food with No taste risotto was atrocious and bland couldn’t even eat it and the apple crumble was ridiculous basically crushed up biscuits Such a shame as the pub and it’s settings are amazing and the food used to be so nice here Honestly not sure what chefs they have there now but the food is just not the same

The website and menu looked really promising however the food was sadly not up to par, felt very disappointed with our meal. Portion wise, brilliant but lacked quality

Just had a delicious lunch, sat outside under a great awning which was lucky as had an horrendous downpour mid meal, with staff on hand to move tables if needed.An excellent selection of meals, it was hard to make a choice but other people's meals looked just as yummy as ours. Staff so friendly & helpful and best bonus the pub is totally dog friendly. Highly recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Some friends and I booked an outdoor space for a party today at the Waggon. Amanda and her team were really helpful in terms of meeting our needs and the cost was very reasonable. The afternoon tea we ordered was really yum and the staff were friendly. It was also really nice how the chef came out and spoke to us too! The venue is great and the outdoor area works really well. Thanks so much, everyone had a great time!

Not brilliant. Doesn't live up to it's reviews sadly. Overpriced shop-bought pasta with a shop-bought sauce. Calamari chewy. Staff rude, cleared plates while we were still eating. Generally overpriced other than drinks.

Had a really good Roast Beef lunch on Sunday with the family. Portions large and quality was high. Everything cooked really well. Large beer garden and good for large gatherings. Will come back soon.

To start with, the booking system is terrible. To change a booking, you have to email them but they don’t reply - they did charge me £60 for holding the booking though. The food took ages to arrive (they weren’t busy - the pub was empty - it was 4pm on a Monday) and the vegetarian dish was horrible. My cousin asked for a separate bill to pay for the drinks but the staff couldn’t understand this and put everything on the same bill (without taking off the £60 deposit) they seemed surprised that I’d given them a deposit. A day later, they rang me and asked for more money - told me they hadn’t added everything to the bill. I will not be returning.

Very good burger and extensive menu 👍 and friendly staff. Handy after a round of golf. Looks like a good set up for sports

We just had the most delicious meal here - we had the flattened baby chicken cooked in garlic, thyme & rosemary and also a mixed grill (chicken & lamb). We had both dishes served with rice and both were absolutely delicious..!!! Top marks to your chef - he’s very, very good. Thank you and see you again very soon.

I met two friends here for lunch recently and we really enjoyed our meal and the whole experience. There was so much food on our "shared platter" that two of us had enough to take home for supper! Food was delicious. Service was exemplary. Staff friendly and helpful. I have been there before with family for birthdays etc. and always had the same excellent service. I am about to arrange another lunch with friends there.

Absolutely pants. Waited 90 mins for food. Came out cold and we refused to pay . Manager avoided situation and was rude on a previous visit and seemed to be the same on this visit. Left the apologies to the poor waiting staff. Awesome lack of customer service. Such a pity as we were a family coming out for fathers Day lunch. They said it was because they had a rush of orders but it was quiet..hardly a quarter of tables filled. Someone needs to sort this out. Don't rely on this pub for special occasions.

Thanks for an amazing experience, the dogs the kids and even my grandparents had a wonderful time big thanks to the head chef Walid for providing the perfect lazy Saturday lunch. We will be back soon.

We had a wonderful lunch here today. The lamb kofte were beautifully flavoured , the lamb kebabs were tasty and the sweet potato chips were by far the best I’ve had in a long time. The rice accompanying the kebabs was a delight: vermicelli rice, delicately flavoured with cardamom and bay leaves . The roasted vegetables were a nice Mediterranean side. Our only slight criticism would perhaps be that the portion of 7 lamb chops (which were perfectly seasoned, tender & delicious) was over-generous - 3 would have been ample! We sat outside in the lovely sunshine. Tables were well-spaced out and staff were pleasant & obliging.We would definitely recommend this as a great place for lunch

Great to be back after lockdown and we were welcomed by the team. Good food for lunch by the roaring fire (yes it was May!). Served quickly too.

I had my son's Confirmation meal get together with my family and friends at Wagon&Horses pub. The food was good and the service was excellent. My special thanks to Amanda who organised everything.

I came to the pub for drinks with friends and I had Alex as a server... let me tell you... Alex was so attentive and so amazing, he’s so lovely and makes you feel so welcome. He’s so good when it comes to questions. Drinks came so quick. I 100% recommend this pub and the server.

Popped in here for a drink it wasn’t busy we was told that Friday & the weekend is £25 min spend but as it wasn’t busy they’d accommodate us ( how lucky was we ) We was going to book Sunday lunch but after completing the booking it appears we would have to pay a £40 deposit so we declined . This is completely outrageous I fully get that customers book & don’t turn up but £40 is way over the top . The hygiene & service is very good but the £25 min spend is going to lose regulars that just want a drink .And as for the huge deposit some won’t be happy to pay that sort of money I really don’t know what the manager is thinking

I would personally say other than the grass by the markee/under the markee being destroyed and one of the waiters taking my order and forgetting it 3 times. The service and the food was great. Even know it was very busy every time we put in an order it come to us within 5/10 minutes. Josh and Alex were the 2 boys looking after my table that night and they honestly made it the best experience we have ever had. Would 100% recommend and come again

My fave venue in the Radlett/Elstree and Stanmore area, today had the chance to be inside and sit by the fireplace. There is a huge outdoor space for outdoor dining too. Today I ordered chicken and salad and requested for half a portion and the chef was able to accommodate. The staff are lovely and feels so good to be back!

Very disappointed a very abrupt and rude woman I believe was the manager to waiting ages for drinks at one time we waited 30 minutes for 2 drinks completely unacceptable considering it was not even that busy. Only 2 members of staff were polite and seemed to care about the customers. We payed a deposit for the table and when we were paying the tab at the end the deposit was not taken off the bill when we told the woman behind the bar she said you should have told me you payed a deposit very abruptly. I will never come back under this management.

Extremely poor customer service, very rude and ignorant, saying “we (as customers) aren’t good enough business for them” highly recommend not to go here.

This is by far the best pub in the local area. From the kind staff to the service, it supersedes all other establishments in the area. Amanda is one of the loveliest and most helpful people I have met and I cannot fault the waggon & horse’s at all. Highly recommend the food and drinks and will definitely be a frequent visitor!

Popped in for alfresco Sunday lunch... beef was perfectly cooked, as were the potatoes and grilled broccoli. Really nice atmosphere in the garden also. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

This pub is a terrible pub, Amanda the manager was very rude and abusive to me and my friends! Service was awful and so was the food!

We are regular customers that come to the pub a lot! However, DONT put your bill on a tab as they add things that you didn’t actually order. My friend was charged for two gin and tonics that he didn’t have and his jacket was also burnt by the heater that had no guard on it! This pub is terrible avoid at all costs! The management staff are inconsiderate and rude they need to learn how to speak to customers! Won’t return and highly advise no one else to visit this pub!

This quaint pub is cozily nestled within an idyllic location in Elstree. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly face and attended to very quickly. The food was deicious and the service was excellent. A special thanks to Amanda & Josh for being fab hosts. We vistied last weekend (Saturday 1st May 2021), so not long after lockdown restrictions were lifted and to say we felt we were looked after, is an understatement, despite all the current restrictions and limitations it's nice to feel the spirit of hospitality still prevail's.Thank you to all the team for a great evening.

First time at the pub we was seated and served straight away. Polite and well mannered staff Will definitely be going back.

A Regular haunt before lockdown but during the Covid madness the restaurant and the staff have been pretty outstanding. With every change in rules they have gone above and beyond.The food portions are plentiful and the beer choices always varied. You have a great choice of pub classics and Middle Eastern fare, the Mixed grill is pretty damn good. I recomend the Oreo cheesecake for desert and cant recomend the waggon's highly enough

Despite being the second or third table to sit down once opening, our food came an hour late. We had asked about half an hour after ordering how long it would be, we didn’t order anything crazy, they said it was being prepared. An hour later one plate arrived, with the other two coming 10 minutes and 20 minutes later. The excuse being that the kitchen was sending our food to the wrong tables, and they were doing too many things at once. The waiters hadn’t even realised we were waiting for our food for so long, until we asked how long it would be, there were only about 8 tables at the time. Had it been packed it would’ve been understandable to have a bit of a wait and no one come to check on you, but it being an extremely quiet day you would expect much better customer service. Also upon being seated, we were asked to give the waiter a card to put in a secure box for the tab, as a few customers have been running off without paying, we happily gave a card over as it is an understandable request. But looking around, we didn’t see any other tables being asked to do the same. It could be a simple mistake, but looking around the other tables and customers we were noticeably different to them in how we look. The whole lunch experience was not enjoyable. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Wouldn’t recommend this pub after such a terrible experience. We’d arrived at a relatively quiet time with not a lot of tables, ordered 2 burgers and a fish and chips, nothing too complicated, yet had to wait nearly an hour for our food. The staff apologised once or twice and insisted “it’ll be out soon” with the excuse of them kitchen being confused with all the orders and trying to do things all at once (again with not a lot of tables at the time) but still managed to get food out to other tables far quicker and more efficiently. When the first plate arrived there was still a 10 minute wait for the second and a further 10 for the final plate of food arrived. The food was definitely not worth the wait, my burger was greasy beyond belief, and as for the fish and chips; the chips were completely over cooked and the fish was clearly rushed, far too greasy and very bland. There was clearly no effort made to the kitchen to get our order out, nor anything offered to make up for a very unreasonable (and frankly unnecessary) wait time. On top of it all we were asked to give a card (bank or ID) for security reasons due to having customers doing runners, which is reasonable, and handed over my bank card thinking nothing of it, but it appeared to be just our table having to do such a thing. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Just came for drinks with friends, good selection of drinks especially Gin! Next time will definitely be trying the food.

Lovley country pub with good food came for dinner, food was tasty, service was good, view is lovley with horses roaming the fields surrounding the pub!

Amazing hospitality and customer service, had a great night out with family for my brothers birthday and has lovely vibes, heaters and great music and staff are amazingly helpful and kind. Best pub management run by Vinay the manager and his team. No waiting times and food and drink is brilliant. Few mistakes on the bill but very quick to sort out the issue and rectify it. Very bubbly atmosphere and professional team and venue.Thank you Waggon and horses and will be seeing you soon again.

Went to meet up with friends las5 Sunday. It looked on the expensive end of pub food so thought it would be a nice place to meet up with friends for lunch after such a long time waiting for the end of lockdown. Such a disappointment. Burger was like a child’s portion with cold fries. “Roast beef” for £17.50 - I would not have served this meal as a disaster at home so don’t know how any professional can let this leave a kitchen. Using small plates so it looks substantial, a couple of small pieces of a barely cooked potato (my husband got no potato at al) one tiny floret of cauliflower, no gravy (there was a pool of the fat from the meat on the bottom). As for the meat the beef was dried up overdone scraps of gristle that looked like they’d been scraped off a pan and my husband’s roast chicken consisted of two drumsticks and a random piece of bone. Staff ranged from lovely to completely disinterested and inept. No one seemed to be in control and it showed. Just to be clear I am not a picky diner and it is the only time I’ve ever not eaten a morsel from a plate of food and went home hungry as a result of seeing the rest of the meals coming out our meals were not an isolated incident. We were not the only ones to complain according to staff. Lucky the San Miguel in the sun meant we made the best of it in spite of the food. If you just fancy a drink it might be ok but I won’t be returning.

Despite paying drink for drink was accosted on leaving and presented with a bill for £85 for drinks. as this was my second stop of the day unsure why I could still stand! Paid there £85 as could not face the 3 people accosting me without perhaps getting too emotional. Surprised when having paid the supposed bill 2 police cars turned up obviously called by the pub despite there being no aggressive behaviour, 3 of them behaving in an aggressive manner to me. Being 64 years old and having had many a drink there over many years very surprised at their attitude. Nice ride home in a squad car with no action taken. Will not recommend the pub to anyone unless they keep a very careful eye on their bill. Not cheap in the first place but even more expensive when they have ghostly billing too. Avoid at all costs.

Visited Saturday 17th May. Service was terrible, drinks took absolutely ages to come and when they did the beer was flat and the aperol spritz were watery and did not resemble an aperol spritz. Glasses were dirty and the bottle of Prosecco wasn’t cold. Food was tasty but took so long to come. Real shame.

Had a great time here. Really good food on offer, good drinks and a great outdoor area with plenty of tables and benches. Quite a few heaters around also - though we weren’t near one :(

Came for a meal and couple of drinks with a mate, as was the last night out before Covid restrictions were raised. Such a great pub, lovely food, good prices and fab service. Lovely manager, Denise, and her team were great. Would highly recommend that you take a trip to this 500+ year old pub once the restrictions are lifted. They, like all pubs at the moment, would appreciate a bit of a lift.

Booked late, no probs got a table for 1230. Staff were amazing C19 procedures, simple. Meal was unbelievable. Best Sunday Roast ive had in years.

We had the mix grill platter, absolutely sublime, large portions, brilliant selection of meats, top notch service from naomi and vinda cant leave out the chefs walid and abdul too absolutely would recommend.

Friendly service, cosy atmosphere and delicious food. Generous portions and well priced. The menu was so varied it was hard to choose.

We had a great meal and the chicken pie was superb. Great menu and staff were attentive and professional. The Alpine at its best !

We did find this place by chance a few weeks ago. We do now drive out especially to visit the place. Why you might ask? Well, food is awesome, staff is super friendly, pub itself is very nice. Massive garden area so plenty of space if weather is right. All the starters are lovely but my favourite are calamari, hot wings and grilled halumi cheese. I tried lambs shank last Sunday.... wow I say! So thunder...Naomi , Matti and Josh were looking after me and my family today - super nice guys, fast service and most importantly COVID vigilant. Just to note, all staff members do ware masks and gloves , hand gels are available around the place. Would definitely recommend the place. And yeah, i have already booked the table for next weekend.

Oreo enjoyed his 2nd pub visit today at, The Wagon& Horses, near Elstree, this afternoon. This pub is super dog friendly. He had 3 sausages served to him in a dog bowl. And they brought him a bowl of water to wash them down.Oreo is really is becoming a pub dog.The human food menu is also excellent. Definitely will go again.

My first visit since lockdown and was delighted to see how serious the management are taking Track & Trace. Very reassuring.Had the lamb shish and was very pleased with the quality and quantity. Served with rice and very fresh salad it was terrific value for money.Service was excellent with all staff wearing face masks. This pub deserves much success if only for the effort they go to, to ensure customer satisfaction. Would recommend every day of the week, looking forward to my next visit.

First time here after seeing a friends picture of the food on social media. We sat outside as the garden area is beautiful, although it was a bit chilly in the end. Vinda served us - he was great and made us very welcome and found out about all gluten free options. We shared some starters including Bruschetta and Humus. I had the mixed shish grill served with aromatic rice. Tender meat and delicious . Total Bill including service for 3 was £90. Can’t wait to return either in the day or on a summers evening next year !

Went for few drinks yesterday in the garden area and we ended up staying for dinner. First time I’ve had food there and could not fault a thing apart from I ordered more than we could finish! Ordered several starters, compliments to the chef for his menu and creative flavours, look forward to coming back soon. The food was amazing, its SO hard to find decent food within a country pub environment. I cannot compliment the chef any more, he cooks the meat just write and the rice is the best ive tasted, The garden area is so beautiful to sit in the evenings, the whole evening was lovely.the waiter was polite and really friendly which also added to the experience. But the main reason i will be returning is simply because the food. The Mediterranean menu is one of the best in the area. The chef i believe is Moroccan or Tunisian so really knows how to season and present the best food.

We visited last week and the food was just not edible. Our group agreed that the quality of the establishment does not match all the positive reviews on trip advisor. It is concerning that there are so many positive reviews as this does not give a true reflection of how low the quality of this establishment is.

Food was cold, cutlery was given after the food was served. Complained food taken away , when it was brought back the plates were hot the food lukewarm. It had just been put in a microwave

Huge thanks Abdul for his truly remarkable cooking. A simply glorious array of vegetable-centric Middle Eastern dishes. So rare to find cooking of this standard in amidst the rustic character of a local pub.Katie and the front of house team looked after us so kindly, with such warmth and good humour. I couldn’t recommend this cherished little spot highly enough.Thank you, we’ll hurry back!

We went here with friends during a local trip to the area, and belying the uninspiring menu the food really was excellent! I think more could be made in descriptions of the food to make it sound as alluring as it is :) There was also a great little garden and play area for kids. However, for a hospitality business re-opening in times of covid, I was surprised the toilets were so grotty! Filthy sink, front hanging off the dispenser, wobbly toilet seat, paper strewn on floor and not giving a sense of regular sanitation. Might want to operate a one-in-one-out as I have experienced elsewhere and have extra soap and sanitation points outside. Staff also get super close and no clear reassurance that coronavirus is being taken seriously. No social distancing signs or floor markings as I have seen elsewhere either.So in short - nice little pub, brilliant food, but a little 'grubby' in places and must try harder to reassure customers to return in this "new normal".

We went to this restaurant on 19/8/2020 for the first time we were greeted by the manager in a friendly manner all the staff could not have been more helpful they went out of their way to look after us.The food was excellent as were all the staff our server Katie was tops very reasonable prices could not wish for better will certainly return again

The Waggon & Horses in Elstree is a lovely building and a great outdoor space too. Our lunch was absolutely delicious, the menu choice has increased enormously since last year, and we would thoroughly recommend it. The staff are friendly and helpful, the tables are very well spread out complying with social distancing and there is a good atmosphere. Well worth visiting.

I was at the Waggon and Horses a couple of days ago i was with my partner for a meal the whole ambience of the pub was lovely and very good service. I asked the waitress for the chefs name as the food was amazing so thankyou! Walid for a delicious meal, and i will return and recommend to my friends and family.

Our server was Mattii who was very welcoming and accommodating. The food was lovely too. I recommend the chicken shish which was beautifully tender.

Enjoyed a really yummy meal tonight at the waggon and horses. Very attentive, friendly staff and stuck to social distancing rules very well. Oreo cheesecake was incredible too. All in all a lovely evening 10/10 and shoutout to the waiter Mattii for the excellent service!

This was one of our first evenings out post lockdown. The team have genuinely given a lot of thought to keeping their customers safe. We had great food, great service and the warmest welcome! Denise is awesome would thoroughly recommend a visit to the waggon. We will definitely be back

Came in just for a few drinks and found the service to be very friendly from Denise, Victoria and Tom. The atmosphere was lovely. Will be returning again!

We ate here today 18.08.2020 on the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and was impressed.2 adults and a child had mains and desserts.The fish and chips were good despite reading reviews that the batter was soggy. Look, its freshly made fish and chips and like all fish and chips shops, once the fish is fried and then wrapped, it goes a little soggy but not like some of the reviewers describes. It tasted great and the chunky chips were polished off.The burger was good and definitely needed the cheese in it to make it 5 out of 5. Desserts were a little small but I guess any bigger and you wouldn't be able to finish it. Service was quality from the young man who served us at the beginning to the lady who gave us our bill, I mean she was lovely and made us feel very welcome.I do miss the days of the freshly made pies and hope that one day they bring it back but this place is by no means a place not to visit.

Despite our arriving only a short time before the kitchen was closing Denise and Victoria and the team looked after us very well. The food was great and the service prompt and efficient. We had a baby and our dog with us for good measure and they were happy to accommodate us. We have already booked to return next week. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Do not order the chicken roast. Actually just don't go. The premises, beer garden and staff were all uncared for and as a result as a customer you feel uncared for Lots of noise from main road in the beer garden. There was an unfriendly vibe and some shockingly crunchy chicken. We both felt sick from the food and had to leave!
