The Wagging Tail Cafe in Sefton

We have been here a few times recently since discovering it through a dog friendly Southport social media page. We love it here! It is a doggy heaven. The food for humans is lovely, and they cater for gluten free guests. They have a doggy menu which our dogs love. The staff LOVE dogs and make you feel so welcome. The interior is really nice, farmhouse chic style, and there's a lovely courtyard which really catches the sun.

Lovely breakfast menu and so angled towards the doggies it's lovely!! My dog had peanut butter sausage roll and didn't leave a crumb! Will definitely visit again, lovely staff!

Lovely little place with lots to offer for both humans and dogs

Lovely welcoming friendly staff . Food was very good . Tuna mayo bagel with salad was excellent, cakes looked delicious. Nothing not to like and of course the added bonus is that you can take your dog with you . On this occasion I didn’t do so , but that doesn’t matter either.

Came here for the first time today after a walk with the dog on the beach. Made space for us and served up a lovely breakfast. The atmosphere is lovely, obviously committed to owners with pets, but tastefully done. Lots of lovely touches in the details of the tableware, dog menu etc. Highly recommended. Thank you!

We phoned up mid-morning to check availability as we planned on a trip to the coast. We were told that food would be stopped being served at 1pm as the staff were closing up for Christmas. We headed across and arrived before the 1pm deadline to be told that we were too late for food. Disappointing to say the least as we had curtailed a walk on the beach and the pier. We had drinks and the cafe was still open but sadly no food was available. Only three stars ⭐️ as a cafe with no food isn’t really a cafe… A lovely little cafe and we plan to visit again in the future

Great location for a spot of food. Had an English breakfast and wow what a great fees. A little snack for the dogs too, was a great experience and will certainly be back.

Myself, my partner and my two pugs Wilma and Gertie attended the Santa paws event on Sunday and I must say I was really impressed. Great effort went into the event. We had a lovely meal, the staff were really pleasant and helpful and we were made to feel really welcome. Our pugs were given a fantastic doggy Christmas platter with a choice of wonderful goodies which was thoroughly enjoyed by the two foodie pugs.A grotto had been created with a visit to Santa paws which was fabulous and a great photo opportunity.Overall the experience was fabulous and hopefully the event will be repeated next year. A big thank you to all involved and fun was had by all xx

Excellent. Extremely dog friendly.

I visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago with my friend and her dog, and it was so good I went back with my family on Sunday. The staff were lovely - they gave my dog a lot of fuss and were very friendly and helpful. The food was incredible! I had the vegan pancakes the first time (the best I’ve ever had) and a piece of Jaffa Cake cake the second time - which again, is one of the best vegan cakes I’ve ever tested. I’ll be making a lot more trips here in future.

Adore this place. Our first visit and already planning the next trip, it's a dog lovers dream. The decor, the staff, the food selection all impeccable. Doggies provided with a comfy bed inside and lovely interactions from staff, very welcoming.

The breakfast is incredible, everything on it was so tasty, and it's brilliant for bringing your dogs along, they even have a doggie menu and beds👌

Brilliant cafe by the botanic gardens in Southport, very dog friendly as they have a wide range of food for our pooches. They also have some lovely dishes for us owners too, the food was really tasty and the staff are friendly and great with the dogs. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I stopped here on my way home, purely because it's a dog cafe and I needed breakfast. The food was impeccable, service truly excellent and my only criticism was there weren't enough dogs

Firstly the staff are wonderful, very friendly , overworked! Had to wait 55 minutes after our order was placed for our food to be given to us . Glass was dirty and had to be changed. Tuna jacket potato - presented well but tasted like cheap tuna. Tomato soup tasted processed - bread appeared stale . This was not our first visit , we have been before but think it has changed ownership since we did and frankly we were not impressed. Felt sorry for the staff to be honest .

Along with our two Frenchies we called here for lunch on our way to Southport.We received a warm friendly welcome and the dogs were offered beds to lie in .The human food was lovely ,well cooked well presented ,good portion sizes and very tasty .Likewise the dog treats were nicely presented and our two had no hesitation tucking in .There was a good relaxed atmosphere in the cafe and the staff were super .I would thoroughly recommend this cafe and will certainly visit again if in that area .

Lovely stop off on a dog walk . Staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble ! Excellent food choice for both dogs and humans and great value for money. Had a great time celebrating my girls Gotcha day . They even put a candle in her cake !!

Lovely place for dogs and owners😁

We booked a joint birthday party for our dogs and it did not disappoint. The room was lovely and had a gate so the dogs could be off lead and play. The food platter had something for everyone even the fussy pups. The cake looked amazing as were the party bags. The staff were really helpful and friendly and welcoming to the doggies. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Lovely welcoming place where you can sit inside or outside. Completely dog friendly, they even have their own menu of specially made wholesome treats. Full English breakfast was very tasty with amazing black pudding and two huge slices of freshly cut toasted bread. Breakfast muffin was delicious, two quality sausages, when one would have been enough (so generous portions). All beautifully presented. Coffee was perfect and nice and hot. All the staff were welcoming and friendly but professional too. I absolutely recommend this place and the most delightful part was the way they accept tips as you pay. It just has to be seen and it will make you smile for the rest of the day. We loved it 💜

The place to be in Southport if you have a four legged friend with you. Had a lovely brunch.

O my goodness this place is amazing. Staff are super friendly and remember all the dogs names. Food is excellent really top quality. The place is immaculately clean and the decor is stunning. Highly recommend even if you dont have a dog!

We always try and pop in here when visiting Southport, perfect for a spot of lunch after a walk around the botanical gardens, lovely, friendly staff who take time to fuss over the dog customers and we're very helpful in assisting in choices for our dog's health issues, they had the fishcakes and loved them!!. Plenty of choice on the menu, the humans have a good menu too, i had the chicken masala??, cheese and chutney panini which was delicious and my other half had a jacket potato and the portion sizes were well worth the money. So glad it's still open, will return again next time!.

Saw the dog café online and wasn't sure I'd get chance to visit. The pier was closed so we took the bus journey to the pup café and I was so glad we did. I came in and the staff there were lovely. They sorted us an outdoor seat. Gave some fuss to my little dog and were just wonderful and so so friendly. My little doggo had their first puppichino. He thoroughly enjoyed it. He also had a popcorn pupcake. Me and my two friends had some cake slices which were absolutely delicious. The prices were decent. I'd definitely bring my Pup again! And have recommended the cafe to other four-legged friends I know.

First visit to refurbished dog cafe. Refurbishment is spectacular while retaining the friendly helpful service it has always had. My pooch was treated yo exquisite meat loaf which she loved while the humans enjoyed delicious jacket potatoes. Still a must go place for all dog lovers.

I brought my family in Saturday afternoon and had an amazing time. Never knowing where to go for lunch with our little pup I Googled pet friendly cafes and this cafe came up. From the moment we arrived I knew I couldn't have chosen better, from fantastic service, amazing food and the fuss given to my dog I couldn't have been happier. With a canine menu full of dogilicious delights and very reasonable pricing your pup won't want to leave. My only regret is we don't live any closer as this would become a regular haunt very quickly. Thank you for an amazing time.

Lovely find, quaint little cafe, friendly staff. My dog was delighted to find friends in this super dog friendly place. Cool mat and water bowl as standard. Bella loves her doggy donut. Great all sandwiches and panini's on optional gluten free bread (had I not ordered it I would have said normal bread). Well worth a visit dog in town or not.

Our first visit to The Wagging Tail Cafe over the weekend. What a find! I struggle to find places to eat that can cater for my dietary requirements (gluten & dairy free) and are also dog friendly. This place is both. Fabulous menu, including a separate dog menu, full of delicious home made treats. We sat outside as the weather was glorious. Tables were in the shade and dogs provided with a cooling mat to lie on and a bowl of water as soon as we arrived. They chose the doggy ice-cream which was devoured in seconds and us humans enjoyed a delicious home made chocolate brownie and tea. Staff are incredible. We will definitely return.

Called in to grab a coffee with the pup today really friendly staff nice outdoor area to relax with a coffee I had a great quality sausage on toast and the dog got a peanut butter banana treat pretty sure he liked it as well. Would definitely recommend and will call again. Big thank you to the staff from Raffa also for his dog mat, water bowl and treat

Lovely and friendly place. My dog loved "dog ice-cream".

Not just for dogs, but well behaved humans can drink or dine here alongside their dogs. Everything is geared up for dogs, they are given a bed and bowl of water and our dog received some pampering from staff, as well as having its photo taken to put on the cafe wall for all to be seen as they enter the cafe. We had a breakfast which was most enjoyable and a hot drink. The staff were friendly and service was good. This is a special place if you want to spoil your dog, they will love it.

We visited with our two dogs - golden cocker spaniel and cavapoo. We were made to feel very welcome, particularly as it was our cavapoo's first birthday. We ordered the doggie donut for them and the staff added a candle - so lovely! We ordered full English breakfasts for ourselves with tea and toast. It was all delicious and both our dogs had a wonderful time. We really liked the little 'dog bed' and water bowls available. It is also so lovely to meet other 'dog friendly' people and chat about breeds etc. I will definitely return again and next time invite more 'doggie' friends along

We regularly go for breakfast and lunch at WT. The hooman food is really good and they take great care of my dog. The staff are friendly and the doggy treats go down well. Highly recommended.

It was the first time we have been today. The staff very friendly, kind & helpful. The food was wonderful, they even brought a bowl of cold water and a pad for our dog to sit on. We definitely will go back

We took the pooch to this cafe today and immediately, the waitress was on her knees, greeting the dog and asking for the name. As we were seated, in came a soft cushion for the pooch to sit on and a bowl of water right next to it. We were made to feel very welcome and the place quickly filled up so that there were six well-behaved dogs in the cafe, all with their own bed and water. We ordered a carrot-based doughnut for pooch and a coffee and carrot cake each for us. The coffee was hot and strong and the cake moist and delicious. The dog treat came in a dog bowl. Altogether, this cost just over £14. As we were leaving, the waitress got down on her knees again, saying bye to the dog and calling her by name - felt like a lovely, personal service given that she had so many to remember yet she didn't falter once. A quirky, pleasant stopover if you are in the area - do give it a try. We thoroughly enjoyed it and it's doggy-paradise for our four-legged friends.

Had our first visit this morning, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our seats and our pup Willow was treated like the Princess she is. The place was spotless until she immediately knocked over her water bowl but we were quickly reassured and it was sorted. She was given a little bed to lie on and made a fuss of. Menu choices for everyone and vegan options including oat and almond milk. Willow enjoyed a puppaccino and pupcake, I had a sausage butty, full breakfast for husband and pancakes for daughter. Willow cleared her bowl so I assume she enjoyed it and we definitely enjoyed ours. Can't wait to visit again, thank you!

Lovely vibes, kind staff, and good food, all within walking distance of the Botanic Garden too! The doggies' food went down a treat and also looked good enough for us to take a bite (but we held back on this occasion 😆)

Called in with Scout while out for a walk. Made realy welcome, had a full breakfast which was delicious and plenty of it! Scout had a trio of dig biscuits which he loved . Just love this place!

Amazing food and coffee and the waitresses were so friendly! We were looking after a friend's puppy and he got super spoilt and cuddled. Highly recommended for some proper dogspotting, or just for food as it's gorgeous

Excellent service with custom made sandwiches for us as we had dietary needs and was helped with patience and professionalism so much so I have made further daily order re morning call and delivery and payment from them to my work place!!

Lovely cosy dog cafe, after walking your dog in Botanic Gardens. Relax inside or outside in the courtyard and treat your dog to doggy cakes& Biscuits. We had a nice small breakfast, with excellent service. Benson was very happy.

Loved it here , run by 3 lovely young ladies if you want to pamper your fur babies this is the place for you ! And you can treat yourself too ! I had a delicious bowl of homemade soup with a warm roll and butter . They have a great food menu for you and your pooch not to mention a great range of dog toys treats and accessories ⭐

First time we have taken one of our dogs to this cafe and it was well worth the travel. Pippa was treated like a princess from the moment she arrived, before ordering she was given a doggy bed and bowl of water. She had a doggy cream tea (there was plenty of choice) and she give it a 5 paw rating. There was a lovely selection of hand made doggy biscuits and cakes, fresh fruit and veg nibbles, tea and a Lily’s kitchen breakfast meal. Our food was lovely too, service was quick, staff very friendly and seem to be genuine in their like for all dogs. If there was one thing that Pippa seemed to miss it was sitting on a couch next to us, she seemed happiest when on my knee rather than on the doggy bed on the floor eating her cream tea.

Had a lovely breakfast here with our Daxie who also enjoyed his woofle which he couldn't finish so we took away in a doggy bag with some extra treats.

I have been many times & the service is always excellent. Staff are very polite & approachable, I really enjoy the bacon on pancakes with syrup and the different cakes they do each day. My dog enjoys the doggy donuts & ice cream. Staff always give the dogs lots of attention

All so lovely. Rufus the dog and Barnaby the baby love it and are always made to feel super special. We even met Father Christmas! Can’t recommend the girls, chef or premises highly enough!
