Amazing local pub fun to be in its had a couple of issues but this is sorted it's mainly a wet pub so if you like a local pop in here I only use two pubs in Barton upon humber and this one you will come home happy good landlord good people what more can I say...GO FOR IT

The volunteer arms is a traditional pub. There is a wide choice of beers, lager and cider on offer, but sadly, no hand-pulled cask, conditioned real ales. There's a comfortable bar with a dartboard and a separate cosy lounge. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and there is an outside seating area behind the pub. Free on street parking.

I enjoy going in here, I love it when it's quieter, so relaxed, you know the times, getting older-some say too many young uns but they're sound, it's very lively on Saturday night.. everyone is made welcome. Great beer, football screen and lovely staff and landlord, decent outside area with benches. 15th century building.

1st visit for a long while. Good service and a good pint.

One of the most tasteful, classy, cosey places to ever visit from Sunday to Thursday. The food is second to none. Not only compared to other options within the town itself, but within the whole North Lincolnshire. However if you are after amazing service, food and nice family day out. I would only recommend to pay a visit between the Sunday and Thursday. Friday's and Saturdays always attract a much louder youthful crowd to appeal to the night life. Really impressed with. 5 stars and above for me

Due to lockdown The Volunteers are doing a takeaway service for their Street food . I opted for the CRISPY SKIN ON FRIES WITH GROUND BEEF, TOPPED WITH CHEESE AND ONION, DRIZZLED WITH TOMATO SAUCE and opted for the Combo of Buffalo wings with a hot sauce.Enjoyed my meal and loved the buffalo wings as the sauce was not too hot to spoil it for me.Was going for the Spicy Indian selection but was not available today but pleased i got the buffalo wings as enjoyed them

New owners, served burgers in what I would class as happy meal boxes, no cutlery, wooden forks, that snapped, friend ate burger with her fingers as they only had one wooden knife! Salad consisting of tomato and a piece of lettuce, will not be visiting again

Small friendly quiet pub, nothing special, the new landlord has to be one of the rudest I have ever met and wouldn't visit again until change of management.

Nice pub but called last orders at 10 then told us to drink up ! No good to me.

The lady is the best Landlady in the area, well liked by all the locals she really cares

Food was always brilliant but it seems to have slipped a little bit recently--it's not bad, just nothing out of the ordinary. Still reasonably priced , very friendly service.

Atmosphere slightly dull how even is it a sunday. Bar maid needs fo smile alittle more! Rather unimpressed that's there was a hairdryer sounds while some individuals were doing their nails,? Was. It staff. Not a great deal of punters in. Decor needs updating. The bar maid openly said "sorting my daughters nails out". This is beginning to feel more like doss house rather than a public house. Toilets are acceptable. The is an pool table and a toy machine to accommodate children.

We had a good night but it was spoilt by some nare-do-well smoking drugs in the entrance! Made one of my group violently I'll yet nothing said or done.

Popped in for a quick drink & bite to eat having read some favourable reviews online. This was well worth the visit and is a lovely welcoming pub. The food was served quickly and with a smile and was absolutely delicious. And the prices are extremely good value. Will definitely go again.

Our usual haunt had closed the kitchen early so we decided to try the Volunteers. The menu is fairly typical and we chose meat pie. It was large and well filled, with chips and peas and a huge sauce boat of gravy. It was all piping hot and delicious. It was the best value for money meal we have had. It was so good that we went again the following evening and tried their special of fish and chips with mushy peas (garden peas available)! The fish wasn't enormous but there was a filling meal. At £4 you couldn't complain. Served with a large wedge of lemon, it was great. Even the sachets of tartare sauce were lovely - thick and tasting of capers which is quite unusual. The Volunteers has had its moments but it certainly seems to have turned a corner. Food, staff (Well done Lisa) and atmosphere are very good. We'll certainly be back!

Visited recently on strength of a recommendation. Limited space inside, but very good, home-cooked food at very cheap prices. Food advertised as available all day, but went again today, only to be told that food not available after 2.00 pm.

Just been to the volunteer arms with my family eight of us the food was fab and good service very enjoyable .will certainly be going again !!!!!!!

Friendly staff and really nice food

Me and my boyfriend came for sunny afternoon drinks. On the sign outside it said Saturday serving till 8 but when we got inside we were told food stops at 5.30 and we were lucky because we asked at 5.29. It was a little annoying but they served us anyway. The food came really quickly. I had the pie, chips and peas and to be honest it was the best pub food I’ve had in a long long time. I ate every single scrap and have told everyone since how great it was. After dinner we had drinks outside in the heated patio area and then played pool upstairs for a few hours. It was clean and I couldn’t complain. Will definitely come again. For a little pub it was gem of a find.

Popped in for a meal on the way back from Chester. I knew from past experience this was the only place I wanted to take my partner. Pub was very busy but still had a warm welcome by one of the managers who went out of his way to find us a table. The food was fab and great value for money. After our meal both managers asked us if we enjoyed meal.and we're very friendly. I feel they put their heart and soul into making this pub a success. I am sure it will go from strength to strength. I for one will be going back and recommend to all my friends and family many thanks for making the evening special

A great little pub good atmosphere. Food was great and a good price £6.50 for half chicken chips salad and coleslaw and £5.50 for scampi and chips with salad or peas. Food was hot and a generous portion. Staff were great will definitely go again.

Good old fashioned pub serving really good grub. Excellent value for money for a substantial meal, specials every day and reasonable prices for drinks. Would highly recommend.

Food reasonable quality for price, beer cheap & staff friendly.

This small pub does good food at an excellent price. Friday's fish and chips day. The fish is large, tasty and flaky. The chips are homemade and not greasy. At only £5.50 it is excellent value. Much nicer than Wetherspoon's equivalent who charge £2 more. I've not eaten anything else on the menu yet but have heard good things about the Sunday lunch. The pub also does afternoon teas.

This place is a lovely place to be. If you like the lowlife environment And would like to score a pick and mix of drugs

This was our 2nd visit to Volunteer Arms and again we weren't disappointed. We were served our drinks promptly. We ordered BBQ ribs with chips, coleslaw and salad. The chips were crispy, the ribs were tasty and sticky, the coleslaw was flavourful. We'll definitely be back

After visiting the vols previously for meals (which is fab by the way) we thought we would treat ourselves and booked in for an afternoon tea and we weren’t disappointed. The savoury selection consisted of sandwiches, which were really fresh, quiche, pork pies, sausage rolls, pickles and a bit of salad. The sweet treats had cupcakes, scones with jam, cream & fresh strawberries, rocky road, battenberg amongst other things and as it was Christmas we even got Christmas cake. The quantity and quality was fantastic for the price, £5 per person including unlimited tea and coffee, well worth it and recommend to all.

First visit for Afternoon Tea for a friends birthday. Beautiful, tasteful, Plentiful, all at such a great competitive price of just £5 per person, delivered in a fun, friendly and welcome atmosphere. Highly recommend, cannot wait for our next afternoon tea. Thanks guys xx
