I have had many afternoon teas. but the one my family and I had earlier at Vintage Pantry was the best ever. From the homemade cakes and scones to the over generous fillings in the sandwiches, my family was blown away. The huge pot of tea served with china cups was fantastic. I would also like to say that it is very rare that when you order a drink that is different than on the set menu, you do not get charged extra for it, I thought that this was a nice touch. To sum up if you are wanting an afternoon tea and you are in Sheffield, you must visit the best in the north, the Vintage Pantry.

The staff were lovely and helpful, the food was amazing, the cafe was clean and they use tea pots with cups and saucers! They were very helpful and knowledgeable about dietry requirements and we were offered refills on our tea pots.

I love cake and am regularly on the look out for cafes that offer decent portions of home made cake at reasonable prices. I happy to say, I have found all of these things at The Vintage Pantry! The cakes are outstanding and there is plenty of choice. (8 or 9) to choose from or there abouts! The cafe has a lovely atmosphere, and the ladies who work there make you feel very welcome. (Apologies if there are any male work force, I have not seen you!) What I particularly liked, is the second time I paid a visit, the lady serving said "Thank you for coming again." Clearly remembered us from our previous visit a week or so before. Such a small, seemingly insignificant remark to make but made me feel like one valued customer which I can say with sincerity, rarely happens. This one small gesture will keep me going back for sure. I encourage anybody who enjoys their cake as much as I do to pay them a visit. I can say with the up most confidence, you will not be disappointed.

We honestly can't rate this place highly enough it's a hidden gem!We had afternoon tea which was a bargain at £9.95pp (normally I'd pay at least £16 and have and its not come close to this place) and everything on there was delicious. I had egg sandwiches and as an egg sandwich connoisseur these were fantastic and the bread was really soft and fresh. We both had different scones, cherry for me and fruit for my partner and they were the best scones I've had in a very long time - so good we got 2 to take home! The cakes were absolutely superb and HUGE! I think there were 6 to choose from on the counter and we had lemon meringue and coffee and walnut - both gorgeous. The best bit for me though was the service. It's obvious these ladies are in the right job, nothing is too much trouble and they clearly enjoy what they do and have a real talent for baking. You both made my birthday extra special and the free slice of "birthday"cake was a really lovely touch. I've already been spreading the word to all my friends about how fantastic this place is and will definitely be back very soon. I noticed you have a booster seat for little guests too and baby changing facilities so I think a weekend breakfast with my baby daughter will be on the cards too. This place is a little gem of a find. Took my Mother & Father here for a belated Mother's day treat. First of all its in the Sheffield Antiques Centre, this is something from the start as you walk around being taken back in history at all the old antiques and memorabilia which you can spend hours looking at. The Vintage Pantry is located upstairs and the 2 girls that were there were so very, very friendly & kind. They do practically all the baking themselves & I have to say you won't be disappointed. The ingredients are very fresh & the cakes were very lovely indeed with a nice selection to choose from. They don't just do afternoon tea they also do nice lunches to, so if your out & about then I'd definitley say to pop in to have a spot of lunch & selection of local teas. I was sad to hear that Kate is moving on but happy to hear things will be staying the same otherwise. We enjoyed our visit as usual and the cakes were lovely and moist. My only niggle would be that there were only 3 cakes to choose from whereas normally there would be at least double that. We had afternoon tea which consisted of sandwiches, scone with cream and jam, a large slice of cake of our choosing and tea was plentiful. Staff were friendly. The cafe itself is a small section of The Sheffield Antiques Centre and is quite quirky. If you are wanting to definitely visit on a particular day then perhaps best to make a reservation as space is limited.

My daughter paid for the afternoon tea for two for my birthday and we finally got to go today - you need to allow 48 hrs when booking a table as this little gem gets very busy. When we arrived at 1pm the place was empty and our table was all ready for us - the staff are very friendly and helpful, we handed over the voucher and were then told the choice of sandwiches, scones and cake and asked if we wanted tea or coffee. I chose coffee which was just how I liked it - strong and my hubby had a pot of tea which was loose leaf which was nice to see - I was told to just ask if I wanted more coffee which was great. The sandwiches and cakes are all freshly made - we had cheese and the ham on brown bread that was gorgeous and the ham was like hand carved and very tasty. I had the fruit scone and my hubby had the plain but there was also lemon scones to choose from and I did hear someone ask if the chocolate scones were on that day so they do a good range of them and the same with their cakes! There were about 6 different ones to choose from but we both plumped for the chocolate orange cake and you got a very big slice lol which I couldn't finish so they packed it up for us to take away. The scones came with beautiful strawberry jam which had big pieces of fruit on it and really rich and yummy cream. To cleanse you pallet there was a shot glass of lemon jelly which was very refreshing. All in all this is a really lovely place to visit and we will definitely be returning - for people less mobile you need to note it is upstairs - the toilets are downstairs so I used them before going upstairs and the staircase is wide so plenty of room if you need help.

Well I first sampled the cakes from here at my nieces hen weekend where the girls had arranged afternoon tea for the Sunday for us. Fabulous it was. So I saw the afternoon tea offer and wanted to take my husband. We have just got back. Lovely little vintage tea room at top of antique centre. Old tunes playing, warm friendly ambience. Lovely pot of leaf tea, and we chose our sandwiches, scone n cake. I was so excited as I'd been messaging the ladies to see what cakes were on and hoping for a coffee n walnut and they didn't disappoint me. Absolutely scrummy. Such a pleasant experience and will be returning. Also purchased cake for the oldies we'd left at home haha.

Came for an early lunch before having a mooch around the Antiques Quarter. The staff were friendly and attentive, and service was prompt. The cafe itself is lovely - just the right amount of bunting, fairy lights and antiques - thoughtfully quirky decor, with Dolly Parton singing in the background. My tuna melt hit the spot, lots of deliciously melting cheese, served with a crisp salad and a huge pot of tea. Also took a few slabs of homemade cake away to share with the kids - recommend the Victoria sponge! The ladies who work here seem to genuinely love what they do. And it manifests itself in the ambience: the perfect place to while away a lazy morning.

I had a voucher for my birthday for a splendid afternoon tea for two, it was indeed just that! We had a choice of sandwiches, followed by our choice of 'mars bar scone' which was delicious. We were so full we couldn't eat the cake but the friendly staff boxed it up for us so we could take it home. The tea pot was topped up for us as we took our time chatting. The food was delicious and the staff couldn't do enough for you. We also went vintage shopping, It was a really good experience and we will definitely be back.

Been here several times now and every time is brilliant. Good selection to choose from and the cakes are really delicious. We had the afternoon tea here for the first time today and it was such a lovely experience; the staff are so sweet and friendly and really add to the day. The afternoon tea is huge and kept us going all day! I was really touched that they made the white chocolate and raspberry cake because I'd specially asked for it :) It's my favourite cake there and you just have to try it, it's amazing! A big thank you to the lovely ladies who work there for the great cakes and afternoon tea :)

We called into this cafe whilst nosying round the antique shops on broadfield road. What a great little place. Their cakes are best I've tasted in ages. We are always calling in at Richtone just down the road, so now we can have coffee and cake too. Can't wait to return.

Whilst visiting some friends (who live nearby to this cafe) in Sheffield they suggested we visit a few local antiques centres. After we went to the Vinage Pantry for tea and cakes - two lovely ladies stood behind their counter waiting to tempt us with their culinary delights - WOW - now came the difficult part in choosing which cakes to have. For my part I spotted something else and went for the `bread & butter pudding with custard` made by one of the ladies. IT JUST DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS.If visiting this Antique Centre forget the antiques and head straight to the Vintage Pantry !

Happened upon this lovely tea room located inside an antique centre while we were visiting the Sheffield Antiques quarter. Managed to get a table as it was very busy. Friendly staff and a huge choice of cakes on offer. We would have had the afternoon tea but decided on a pot of tea and cake as we didn't think we could manage the afternoon tea this time. Well worth a wait even if they are busy maybe check how busy they are then you could have a look round the antiques if you did have to wait. Definitely worth waiting for, There is on street parking close by too. We will be back for an afternoon tea next time we visit.

Called in for quick cuppa and cake after The Vintage Pantry was recommended. I was so glad we did!!! The tea for one was served in a beautiful teapot and I opted for a cheese scone which was out of this world, the best!! All beautifully presented, a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going again!!

I love it here it's one of Sheffield's hidden gems of a cafe, tucked away in the antiques quarter of Sheffield. We have been here several times as a family taking advantage of the excellent deals on afternoon tea. The food is amazing, cake slices as big as your head and so delicious. There are always new flavours of scones and cake, we loved the curly wurly scones! The staff are so lovely paying attention to my toddler, nothing is too much trouble. We also love the decor and the beautiful china. I can't wait to go back again ;)

I tried to eat here a couple of weeks ago and couldn't get a seat! Popular...Went back with my husband, brother and sister-in-law and ordered 4 afternoon teas. Absolutely brilliant! Loved it! Choice of sandwiches, choice of scones, choice of cakes, choice of teas/coffees. All served beautifully with real china. I felt a bit like a Miss Marple. While waiting we were browsing the antiques and having lovely conversation. To be honest we had to take the cake 'to go' as we were all stuffed.Don't miss the chance to visit here - but please don't go on the day I want to go!

Booked in for afternoon tea with my mum and nephew. Fantastic service and gorgeous food, completely spoilt for choices throughout from sandwiches and scones to the cakes. Love the little extra touches that make it so special. They were great with my nephew too, he got his own sandwich and couldn't wait to get to the jelly. Would highly recommend this hidden gem and we're already planning our next visit!

I decided to come here while I was in Sheffield as I fancied a cake and a hot chocolate and this seemed to be the place regarded as the best in the city. It's outside of the city centre and, while not too far away, it's still a bit of a walk. I didn't think it was worth the trip as both the cake and hot chocolate were poor. I might not have tried any other tea rooms or cafés in the city, but I can practically guarantee there are better options. The place gets quite busy and there are only a few menus, so I didn't get to look at their full range. They had a few blackboards up scattered around the room though and they seem to sell soup, sandwiches and salads as well as the usual cakes and hot drinks. While there were a number of different cakes available, they were all similar and it was only really the flavours that were different about them. I ended up selecting a slice of raspberry-chocolate cake and a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows.I was really disappointed with the hot chocolate as the drink itself was extremely bland, lacking any real flavour. I would have expected much better from a tea room. Despite the negatives, the drink wasn't completely without positives as both the marshmallows and cream were fine, being the standard variety that you find in most places. To set it apart from the norm though, there were some chocolate sprinkles on top of the cream which I felt added a lot to the drink and made the cream seem less plain and boring. The cake was also a disappointment. While it wasn't completely dry, large sections of it, where none of the fondant was present, were. Even when the fondant was there, it didn't completely help to counter the dryness of the cake, but it was certainly much more acceptable. Also, while not tasting like the normal overwhelming chocolate taste that you would expect, the chocolate fondant within the cake was extremely sickly, despite its lighter colour and this coupled with the dryness of the cake made for unpleasant eating. I hate wasting food, but I had to leave this cake unfinished as I didn't want to torture myself by eating the whole thing. Like the hot chocolate, despite the negatives, the cake wasn't completely without positives either as the raspberry sauce within tasted really nice. It was a shame that there wasn't more of this and that it was only present in a small section of the cake as this would have helped to alleviate how sickly the cake was if it was better spread throughout. I was also pleasantly surprised by the raspberry, which was on top of the cake, as this had a lot of flavour and was much better than your average raspberry. The service in here was fairly good as the staff were friendly. There wasn't much for them to do, but they were polite both at the counter and waiting tables. You also pay for your order after consumption here, which was nice to see as it's not always the case in tea rooms, with many expecting you to pay up front. The place did seem to be incredibly overstaffed though as there were as many staff members as there were tables! The value in here seemed fairly reasonable. I didn't see the menu in order to judge it as a whole, but the items I saw listed on the blackboard were priced around the value you would expect. While my order came to a little bit more than average, there was great value for money to be find portion-wise when it came to the cake as they provided me with an incredibly generous slice, which was around three times the size you would get in most other tea rooms. If the cake were better, I would definitely consider this to be a great value tea room, but unfortunately it wasn't up to scratch, which ended up averaging it out.The tea room is set upstairs in an antique shop in an industrial estate in Sheffield. If you don't know what you're looking for, this can come as a bit of a shock as it makes you wonder if you're in the right place. The place isn't sign-posted particularly well and the only identifier from the street is a sign saying that there is a tea room upstaires in the antique shop. The setting inside is a bit overwhelming as there is a large amount of decor in the tea shop. As well as the antiques, they have their own decorative fabrics about the place. While it does look nice as a whole, it is unfortunately very cramped and if you don't get one of the main tables, you don't have much space to move and the table is low down, which doesn't make it ideal to sit at. There are only three tables in here in total, with two of these being small ones and one being a larger buffet-size table which is ideal for large groups. I don't know what the custom in here is usually like, but it was extremely busy during my visit and I got the last remaining seat at the uncomfortable and cramped low table.

My friend and I knew we were on the right track when we followed our noses up the stairs in the Sheffield Antiques Centre. We were taking a well-earned break from shopping and the smell of freshly baked cakes was irresistible. I hadn't planned on having afternoon tea (the soup with cheese scone was very tempting) but my friend persuaded me to indulge (not very hard ;-)). The tea was fantastic. Tasty sandwiches with the crusts cut off, lovely fresh fruit scones with clotted cream and even a shot of jelly! We were too full to have our cake at the time, so they kindly boxed it up for us. They had a huge selection to choose from, all handmade that day (some even freshly frosted as we had our tea). I'm glad I didn't attempt to have the cake until later - the slices were massive! It was all very tasty, and the twee vintage surroundings really made the occasion feel fun and special. The best part about the cafe is the staff. They are so friendly and helpful, you can't help but enjoy your visit. I'll be back soon (not least because they have a loyalty card for their afternoon teas - very dangerous :-) ).

My abode for my latest Sheffield visit, during this week, was again The Crow Inn, 33 Scotland Street S3 7BS, which reopened 5 years ago after quite a few years closure, and has 7 en suite bedrooms. Comfortable bed, clean and airy room. Sadly, no breakfast provided, but there are some very interesting bar snacks. Importantly, it also sells quite a few interesting ales and crafty keg beers! Open Mon-Wednesday 3pm to 12 midnight; Thurs-Saturday 12 noon to 1am; Sunday 12 noon to 11pm. Friendly and efficient staff.

Lovely food, not greasy at all like some fish shops can be! Proper hand cut chips and made to order fish, very enjoyable. The two staff were very friendly, even gave us a free homemade fishcake (which was 10/10!) and extra chips! Will definitely be back!

Perfect venue and quality food. Staff are so friendly and the restaurant is not lacking a touch of class. From the outside it looks small but, when seated, the restaurant is the perfect size so that the customer is never forgotten, the general chatter the right volume (You know how some places echo with noise and you're in a place where you feel lost and ignored) and the music just right. Put Turnip and Thyme top of your dining out occasion list folks. I can't recommend it enough.
