Came for lunch and as usual it was lovely!

Lovely pub for a family meal! Good food and a great atmosphere!!

Lovely place, friendly staff, great service especially considering we visited just before Christmas!

Visited Christmas Day for dinner. We normally dine out Christmas Day as it takes a load of pressure off everyone in the family. Just me, my wife and my 8 year old son this year. The pub was only allowing “pre-booked” in so didn’t feel too crowded, ambience was good, some music and the tables were set out nicely with crackers all ready to be pulled. We were seated quickly and the food and drinks soon followed. No complaints, with good portion sizes and decent service provided by staff. (Being honest I don’t think “anyone” wants to work Christmas Day so if you get a smile, a drink and a plate of hot food I think you are doing ok) everything went well, the toilets were clean, everything went as it should have. No complaints and thanks for a decent Christmas dinner.

Firstly praise to the staff who were delightful and charming but this venue is very understaffed. We waited unacceptable times between each course. This venue was noisy but not unexpected as couple of rowdy Xmas parties going on but noise factor may be too much for some diners. We found the menu limited but think this was due to a Xmas menu also being offered, which has to be pre-booked. The food was of excellent quality, but personally we found the portions quite small. The roasted tiger prawns were absolutely delicious and superbly cooked, the sauce over the prawns almost made the aioli unnecessary. Could have done with a slice of bread to mop juice up. Best dish of the evening. The Bream dishes were tasty. The Belly Pork was disappointing we thought a heritage type pig meat was used which although flavoursome tends to be too fatty, the veg and potato cake with it were just ok. The cooking of the pork meant it required a lot of chewing and it was not at all tender. The plates were very hot full marks for that. Puddings were also on the small side and we thought very expensive at circa £8.00-8.50 for the quality and size. The liqueur coffee was done very poorly, when it was server the cream had slipped and it almost looked like a normal coffee. The gluten free options were very limited and probably I wouldn’t have gone to this pub if I had done my homework before hand. However, the staff and kitchen were very careful of what was gluten free and I felt confident I could eat “safely”. Would I go again, probably not. Wide selection of wines and other drinks. Toilets were a long climb up stairs and were not very tidy, although the hand washing water was very hot. For me a bit disappointing.

With a party of 30 for Christmas lunch The Vine managed to give excellent service, each of the 3 courses arrived for each and every one at the same time, lovely food. Each person was addressed by name making 'them' feel special and giving a good party atmosphere. It must have been challenging as there were many other parties being served at the same time. Front of house appeared very calm, friendly and accommodating, I can't begin to imagine what it was like in the kitchen? Our two wheelchair users (importantly) were accommodated with ease having easy access to all facilities - a wonderful Christmas Lunch Party. Excellent organisation by Claire, which was helped by having a 'hands on' manager, brilliant team work! It all starts with the manager's (Fraser's) choice of staff - or do they choose you? I didn't think you could improve on last year, but you certainly did, with a plus! Thank you for a great couple of hours - just order more Malbec next time please!

Our 1st visit was for Christmas lunch with a group of about 30. The venue is cozy and the decor very homely. The staff were brilliant considering the size of our group - I'm sure it was frustrating dealing with so many demanding people. The chef did a brilliant job since he appeared to be almost alone in the kitchen. He deserves praise and a bonus! The starters were enjoyed by all. We had the liver pate which was excellent. The mains, the only complaint we heard were that the brusslesprouts were under cooked and that they couldn't eat a lot as it was a healthy serving. We had the festive burger - while the pig in blanket and stuffing on a stick was a great decorative touch it had been left on the grill a long time and was very dry. The burger though was brilliantly tasty. The deserts had mixed review, with the frangipani being lovely, the Christmas pudding dry as there was not enough custard, the cheese board was enough for 2. I was unfortunately 1 who had to change my dessert due to no stock/delivery of the parfait. I opted for something of the menu, Apple and Blueberry pie I think it was. It was so hot I was still trying to eat it long after everyone had finished so I didn't really enjoy it, sorry. Overall though it was a lovely afternoon. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it a success.

The food here was lovely , the young staff need a lot of training as they hardly spoke to us chucked the cutlery across the table our son-in-law is gluten free and no staff new anything, know your product if you sell it ! When we did the QR code for desserts it took us to another restaurant, we paid a lot for this meal as it was a treat but wouldn’t recommend such a shame as the building looks lovely outside .

Eight of us went for a pre Christmas meal which was first class as usual. Service was great all served quickly and correctly. All in all a great experience it was slightly marred by a yapping dog but when the owner left with it the peace returned.

Nice pub-restaurant. Menu broad. Range of drinks. Not too expensive. Not actually as pretty as the pics. Toilet facilities inaccessible except to mountaineers

The roast is amazing. So far one of the best ones I have had. The plate of half chicken is big, had to take a doggy bag home. It was that big if you are ever in tenterden it's a must go love it.... Will go again..

Have visited tenterden several times but never been to this pub. I was surprised how lovely the inside and the outside back seating areas were. The staff were very friendly and service spot on. Food was also very good

Huge thank you to Claire and crew for holding a super wedding celebration. Clare out so much effort into making sure the afternoon party went smoothly. I highly recommend coming to the vine to hold your special event.

Only for Drinks so can’t comment on food Outside area lovely at the rear . Also a side entrance rh side of building, which gives wheelchair access to garden.

Popped in on the off chance there was a table free, as didn't book. There was, the hostess was friendly & pleasant. Food was ok, nothing special. Haddock & chips was not worth the price. Average portion size. The highlight of our visit was overhearing the barmaid/waitress being asked if she was busy & her reply was (so everyone could hear it) "I have tickets coming out my ar*ehole!" Then I get questions from my 7 year old son, "Daddy, what's an ar*ehole?" Not the sort of thing you want to hear when eating lunch. 4.5/10 for the food, 3/10 for everything else. Next time we're in Tenterden, we'll try somewhere else.

Nice pub as you want when just meeting mates for a drink

I normally ignore 1 star reviews but in this case they were completely warranted! Food was so bland! Kids meals were really poor! Roast looked like mush and the chicken burger that was apparently spicy, had no taste whatsoever! Complained and it seemed that they were genuinely surprised which was a good sign. However at £73 for 2 kids pizza's, a chicken burger, fish and chips and roast I expected much better quality. Sadly it's now understandable.why it was easy to book a table here when others had no availability all day. On a positive note the chips were ok. If you sit in the back of the restaurant be prepared to be dogged by wasps and flies, can't really blame the owners for this as I presume they have tried some measure to eradicate them..

Never been before but was visiting the area and decided to go here as its reviews are good on Google. A wonderful experience from walking in to being served the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was very good pub classics but tasted better than we’ve eaten before. Easy to find in the high street with good parking nearby.

We had a fantastic meal. The sea bass with gorgeous veg was the best my sister had ever had.”Devine”. I had 2 starters- cauliflower in romesco sauce and chicken wings with Thai slaw. Just delicious, with original, balanced flavors. We asked to compliment the chef we were so impressed.

It was a lovely place we saw while visiting Tenterden. Would highly recommend it. Had a lovely meal for our 36th wedding anniversary, while on holiday.

Have eaten here several times never had a problem. Everything delicious. Lovely roast beef today. Good staff. Will be back again

Staff so friendly and knowledgable, also have time to spend with customers as we didn't feel rushed. Food excellent and presentation very good. Always reccomend a roast dinner aswell.

The staff were brilliant - friendly and helpful, and introduced me to an English Chardonnay, which was delicious. I don’t normally like Chardonnay, but this one tasted like cream. The food was ok - the pork belly rather hard and chewy, and the dauphinoise potatoes not exactly creamy - but overall acceptable and tasty.

First time I've been here, lovely food and wine. Would willingly go back.

I had the pleasure of visiting this place last week and was very pleased with my service. I have allergies which they highly catered for me. The waitress checked with the chefs and gave me multiple options. She was patient and kind. The food was delicious with very generous portions! For me menu is too restrictive so I wouldn’t return but I definitely would recommend and I appreciate the lovely service me and my two daughters received. Genuinely nice place to visit.

Had a fantastic meal here today, food was absolutely delicious, possibly the best fish and chips I've ever eaten and very filling and the burger my partner had was equally as good. The service was faultless and a very nice atmosphere, can't fault it and will definately return again soon. Great job and highly recommend

Several items unavailable. Staff were inattentive and disinterested. Food was mediocre at best. We were left for quite a long period of time before the waitress returned to take the order. Just not worth the price.

We often visit Shepherd Neame Managed houses and this is a favourite. We decided to visit for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were quickly shown to our reserved table. Noticing my partners mobility issues, the disabled toilet was pointed out as the general facilities are upstairs. Our drinks order was taken and we perused the menu, ordering Roast beef. The food was well presented with a variety of fresh vegetables. The meat was tender and everything was hot and delicious. A little expensive but worth it.

Really was expecting great things from this establishment, but unfortunately, it fell short. Cramped table (6 of us), poor food cold, several items had been sold out 3pm on a Sunday, had to catch servers as they passed to ask for drinks, loads of other pubs in the high street, so have a look around first.

Food was great. As was service. Shepherd Neame beers. Not my favourite, but that is too personal to knock any stars off for that. Used our Shepherd Neame vouchers they sent me for my birthday. Worth joining the club as it gave a free main course.

Traditional meets contemporary! The Vine Inn has been beautifully modernised and is a wonderful combination of traditional and contemporary, creating a great atmosphere. The food and service were good, we were there for an early lunch, and the service became a little slower as other customers arrived for a more usual lunchtime but we were in no rush, and it is a pleasant environment to be in.

First time we visited the Vine Inn , we was really impressed staff were very friendly, good choice of food it was delicious 😋 would highly recommend this place

Very good food. Been 3 or 4 years since we last went there and it had changed ownership in the meantime. Now a Shepard & Neame pub which is great as they are.my favourite beers. Unfortunately wife prevented me going on a tasting spree but next time..........😋

Great family pub with, Shepherd Neame beers, quality food and with dedicated dog-friendly area at the front and good-sized yard at the back. We especially enjoyed the sharing nachos, the special pancakes on the kids menu and the quality coffee. We visited at the end of a busy bank holiday so lots of options had run out but the staff were all great about this and really helpful.

Food and service very poor , one of our family chose ham , egg and chips asked for the egg to be splashed over he liked it runny but not slimy the waitress went into kitchen with our order then came out and said the chef said the one who was having the egg can go into the kitchen and show him how to cook an egg , when the food came out the one with the egg wasn’t there we were told the chef was trying to cook the egg , we were all furious and will not set foot in that place again !!!!!!

The Service here was exemplary. My wife has a nut allergy and every effort was made to ensure we enjoyed our meal safe in the knowledge no allergens were present. On top of that the Burger was excellent and the Ham, Egg and chips perfect 👍

Very rude and unprofessional landlord and bar person we had dirty glasses asked if they had a Guinness glass for my Guinness instead of the dirty scratch shepherd and neame ale glass when complained all I got from barperson is that’s all we got so spoke to landlord Fraser who said we have none (what you want from me) Disgusting behaviour Avoid

We visited for lunch this afternoon, it's really rare for us to eat out nowadays as my son has additional needs and struggles in busy places. I requested a quieter space for him with space for his pushchair if he wanted to get back into it, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. We ended up having 3 courses and each plate was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is lovely and has a pleasant warm feel. The food came quickly and our table was cleared in good time after each plate. Would definitely recommend and will visit again when we are back in the area. Thank you for a lovely lunch!

Visited here after wedding dress shopping in the high street. Booked before - so glad we did as it was busy! Everyone had the roast bar me who had the special chicken burger - it was all lovely food and the service was great so friendly! Apple dessert could of been slightly warmer but overall service and food was lovely! Thank you

Despite being extremely busy, the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. Food was well presented, hot & very tasty and was served in a timely manner. Would recommend and will definitely go again.

Early booking so restaurant not yet busy. Shown to our table and before food was served we realised it was next to a noisy group so asked if we could change tables. Sorry “no” was the answer. The other tables for 2 were not used for a long time, so why could we not be moved? The food was very poor. We ordered prawn cocktail and the prawns were inedible, hard. Bread was thickly spread with margarine, ugh! The main course was ok but not special. I complained about the prawn cocktail and asked for it to be taken off the bill.

I think the chef was off duty! The chips were cold, the fish was just hot, and delicious, but my husband had the pie, which looked reheated... With what tasted like Bistro gravy! Ran out of the wine I was drinking, which was very good, and the ale was excellent. But not a good meal.

First time here....popped in for lunch. It was great....thank you to all, and especially to Brannan who looked after us so graciously. Loved the whole experience!

My wife and I visited to look at the menu for our evening meal. The bar maid that served me obviously wasn’t having a good night and made damn sure I knew about it. I asked if they had an ipa on tap and her reply was a bottle or that (pointing to a pale ale) I went for the pale ale and asked what tonic water they did for my wife to which I received a look of death. Strangely after this we didn’t feel like eating there. The beer was not great and my wife hated the gin and tonic, so overall not impressed. I doubt I’ll try again.

Lovely Restaurant, good atmosphere, fresh tasting food, limited menu but were options for all of us so no troubles! And also… great service!

Had a Valentine’s lunch here and it was lovely. The pub is airy and spacious and the staff are friendly and attentive. We shared the house nachos and then I had the pie- which was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was let down by the custard which had a skin and had been poured over rather than served separately. Other than that- great!!

Went out for a friend's birthday and had a lovely meal. They did seem a bit understaffed, but we where well catered for. Starter of calamari was delishious. Then we had fish and chips was was the best fish and chips I've had! I had a scoop of ice cream for dessert which was equally good quality. It isn't the cheapest place but with good service and food l, happy to pay it. Definitely recommend!

Came for a spot of lunch and we had the Chicken Club sandwich and it was delicious. Staff welcoming and reasonably priced. Dogs welcome too in the bar area which was perfect for us and the pooch.

Six of us booked for Burns Night Supper, we give it 5 stars. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the food was delicious and the landlord friendly and a superb host. It was our first Burns Night but certainly not our last , can we book now for next year?

Had a surprise Birthday Meal here for my Mum on January 2nd 2024. The staff were superb, attentive, friendly, helpful service. Nothing was too much trouble. I took a cake in and balloon for the table in the morning which they kept and bought out at the appropriate time along with plates to put the cake on. The food was all excellent, every guest loved their food. We had the Beef Burgers, chicken burgers, Nachos, Thai Green Curry, Steak pie.. 11of us in total. Drink was served and plenty of people frequently checked if we needed more and then serving as required. The staff really were 100% and this made for a fantastic evening with some lovely memories for our family. If you get the chance to eat here, you won't be disappointed. This is definitely my 1st choice for future bookings when I'm in the area. Thank-you to everyone who helped make our evening such a fantastic one.

We had our first Christmas Day dinner . I can’t fault anything it was a lovely day we were well looked after by all the staff . And food was lovely A good choice . Definitely go again . Thank you.

The Vine in Tenterden looks like the traditional Pub it was, but now firmly aspires to be in the Gastro sector Tried eating in the busy bar area. Comfortable enough but being pre-Xmas a bit too noisy and the lighting is so dull we couldn’t read our menus. Perhaps try the restaurant area next Service really not ip to scratch I’m afraid in this competitive market place. A few simple improvements like offering tap water and being more ‘attentive’ perhaps…. I may be wrong but that’s how we felt Burgers both Veggie and traditional reported tasty. But the precise order requests were not understood? Little details that are easy to fix My Halibut @ £25 (the king of fish) should have been the star on the plate, but overwhelmed by other ‘stuff’. I enjoyed it but….. A case of ‘less is more’ to refine it. So overall the food was adequate and reasonable value A Master Brew for me was perfectly good but not much else on offer from memory A generous 4* but a few simple improvements to make 5* in 2024 so we will be back to see how things are…. Happy Christmas 🎄

Called in for drinks with friends while on a night out in Tenterden. The atmosphere was lively and, even though it was busy, our drinks were served, by friendkly staff, without delay. Can recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to drop into for a drinkl and/or a meal.

Just had an evening meal there and the food was amazing an plentiful. The atmosphere is brilliant and was made very welcomed by the staff and other people In there as well. Would definitely take a trip down to the Vine pub again and we live in Medway, we'll worth the money and some. Thank you for everything ❤️

Had brilliant service and food today, our server was Brannon he was very friendly and professional. Originally went elsewhere but didn't get a good vibe whereas Brannon made us feel welcome and very comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Called in for a drink with my husband, as I approached the bar I heard someone shouting ‘can I help you’ from behind me. I thought they were talking to someone behind us, but she shouted again ‘can I help you’ like a fishmongers wife, I turned round horrified that she was talking to me. I said I’ve called for a drink, (it is a pub after all), to which she responded you don’t want food, that’s ok. She then poured the drinks but her whole manner was completely off. All I can say is management needs to get rid of her, she has an appalling attitude and doesn’t have a clue on customer relations.

Nice place, food was OK although the fish and chips was a bit greasy, the only gripe was the waiting for food, nearly 40mins before it was served

We've been to the Vine for drinks and few times and really liked the atmosphere so came back for dinner and we weren't disappointed! Staff were attentive and friendly, especially our server Brannan. The food was very tasty, I'd highly recommended the sea bass. Overall a lovely meal, we will be back!

We visited for a evening meal with friends . Our friends enjoyed there meal. My husband and I ordered the crab cake for starters. When it was served we both eate it and both said it tasty of potato but hardly any crab and there wasnt much of a sauce with it. My husband ordered Thai green curry with chicken. When he took his first bite the chilli was so hot and so much chilli cut over it all that it burnt his throat. He couldn't eat it and he told the waitress but nothing was done. My husband is used too eating madras but the amount of hot chilli added to this dish was ridulous. We were charged for the unadible meal and my husband went home hungry. Personally if it had been my meal I would have refused to pay for it or I would have expected another meal should have been offered.

We'd booked and arrived spot-on time. Put in the side area, no issue with that at that point but it mattered later. Drinks order taken promptly but took a while to arrive because a few people had turned up after us. Food order taken and we asked for a appetiser that arrived promptly unlike our main course. Several tables who'd arrived after us for their food quite quickly. Twice I went to ask where ours had gone as we were parked for one hour only. It did eventually arrive and we got back to the car in time but when several tables got their food way before us it wasN't acceptable we had to ask twice for our food. We hadn't asked for anything complicated or to have something substitute for what was on offer.

At lunch I had superb confit of duck. The people waiting on table were really helpful ... Extremely good.
