Traditional meets contemporary! The Vine Inn has been beautifully modernised and is a wonderful combination of traditional and contemporary, creating a great atmosphere. The food and service were good, we were there for an early lunch, and the service became a little slower as other customers arrived for a more usual lunchtime but we were in no rush, and it is a pleasant environment to be in.

First time we visited the Vine Inn , we was really impressed staff were very friendly, good choice of food it was delicious 😋 would highly recommend this place

Very good food. Been 3 or 4 years since we last went there and it had changed ownership in the meantime. Now a Shepard & Neame pub which is great as they are.my favourite beers. Unfortunately wife prevented me going on a tasting spree but next time..........😋

Great family pub with, Shepherd Neame beers, quality food and with dedicated dog-friendly area at the front and good-sized yard at the back. We especially enjoyed the sharing nachos, the special pancakes on the kids menu and the quality coffee. We visited at the end of a busy bank holiday so lots of options had run out but the staff were all great about this and really helpful.

Food and service very poor , one of our family chose ham , egg and chips asked for the egg to be splashed over he liked it runny but not slimy the waitress went into kitchen with our order then came out and said the chef said the one who was having the egg can go into the kitchen and show him how to cook an egg , when the food came out the one with the egg wasn’t there we were told the chef was trying to cook the egg , we were all furious and will not set foot in that place again !!!!!!

The Service here was exemplary. My wife has a nut allergy and every effort was made to ensure we enjoyed our meal safe in the knowledge no allergens were present. On top of that the Burger was excellent and the Ham, Egg and chips perfect 👍

We visited for lunch this afternoon, it's really rare for us to eat out nowadays as my son has additional needs and struggles in busy places. I requested a quieter space for him with space for his pushchair if he wanted to get back into it, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. We ended up having 3 courses and each plate was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is lovely and has a pleasant warm feel. The food came quickly and our table was cleared in good time after each plate. Would definitely recommend and will visit again when we are back in the area. Thank you for a lovely lunch!

Very rude and unprofessional landlord and bar person we had dirty glasses asked if they had a Guinness glass for my Guinness instead of the dirty scratch shepherd and neame ale glass when complained all I got from barperson is that’s all we got so spoke to landlord Fraser who said we have none (what you want from me) Disgusting behaviour Avoid

Really was expecting great things from this establishment, but unfortunately, it fell short. Cramped table (6 of us), poor food cold, several items had been sold out 3pm on a Sunday, had to catch servers as they passed to ask for drinks, loads of other pubs in the high street, so have a look around first.

Visited here after wedding dress shopping in the high street. Booked before - so glad we did as it was busy! Everyone had the roast bar me who had the special chicken burger - it was all lovely food and the service was great so friendly! Apple dessert could of been slightly warmer but overall service and food was lovely! Thank you

Despite being extremely busy, the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. Food was well presented, hot & very tasty and was served in a timely manner. Would recommend and will definitely go again.

Early booking so restaurant not yet busy. Shown to our table and before food was served we realised it was next to a noisy group so asked if we could change tables. Sorry “no” was the answer. The other tables for 2 were not used for a long time, so why could we not be moved? The food was very poor. We ordered prawn cocktail and the prawns were inedible, hard. Bread was thickly spread with margarine, ugh! The main course was ok but not special. I complained about the prawn cocktail and asked for it to be taken off the bill.

I think the chef was off duty! The chips were cold, the fish was just hot, and delicious, but my husband had the pie, which looked reheated... With what tasted like Bistro gravy! Ran out of the wine I was drinking, which was very good, and the ale was excellent. But not a good meal.

First time here....popped in for lunch. It was great....thank you to all, and especially to Brannan who looked after us so graciously. Loved the whole experience!

My wife and I visited to look at the menu for our evening meal. The bar maid that served me obviously wasn’t having a good night and made damn sure I knew about it. I asked if they had an ipa on tap and her reply was a bottle or that (pointing to a pale ale) I went for the pale ale and asked what tonic water they did for my wife to which I received a look of death. Strangely after this we didn’t feel like eating there. The beer was not great and my wife hated the gin and tonic, so overall not impressed. I doubt I’ll try again.

Lovely Restaurant, good atmosphere, fresh tasting food, limited menu but were options for all of us so no troubles! And also… great service!

Had a Valentine’s lunch here and it was lovely. The pub is airy and spacious and the staff are friendly and attentive. We shared the house nachos and then I had the pie- which was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was let down by the custard which had a skin and had been poured over rather than served separately. Other than that- great!!

Went out for a friend's birthday and had a lovely meal. They did seem a bit understaffed, but we where well catered for. Starter of calamari was delishious. Then we had fish and chips was was the best fish and chips I've had! I had a scoop of ice cream for dessert which was equally good quality. It isn't the cheapest place but with good service and food l, happy to pay it. Definitely recommend!

Came for a spot of lunch and we had the Chicken Club sandwich and it was delicious. Staff welcoming and reasonably priced. Dogs welcome too in the bar area which was perfect for us and the pooch.

Six of us booked for Burns Night Supper, we give it 5 stars. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the food was delicious and the landlord friendly and a superb host. It was our first Burns Night but certainly not our last , can we book now for next year?

Had a surprise Birthday Meal here for my Mum on January 2nd 2024. The staff were superb, attentive, friendly, helpful service. Nothing was too much trouble. I took a cake in and balloon for the table in the morning which they kept and bought out at the appropriate time along with plates to put the cake on. The food was all excellent, every guest loved their food. We had the Beef Burgers, chicken burgers, Nachos, Thai Green Curry, Steak pie.. 11of us in total. Drink was served and plenty of people frequently checked if we needed more and then serving as required. The staff really were 100% and this made for a fantastic evening with some lovely memories for our family. If you get the chance to eat here, you won't be disappointed. This is definitely my 1st choice for future bookings when I'm in the area. Thank-you to everyone who helped make our evening such a fantastic one.

The Vine in Tenterden looks like the traditional Pub it was, but now firmly aspires to be in the Gastro sector Tried eating in the busy bar area. Comfortable enough but being pre-Xmas a bit too noisy and the lighting is so dull we couldn’t read our menus. Perhaps try the restaurant area next Service really not ip to scratch I’m afraid in this competitive market place. A few simple improvements like offering tap water and being more ‘attentive’ perhaps…. I may be wrong but that’s how we felt Burgers both Veggie and traditional reported tasty. But the precise order requests were not understood? Little details that are easy to fix My Halibut @ £25 (the king of fish) should have been the star on the plate, but overwhelmed by other ‘stuff’. I enjoyed it but….. A case of ‘less is more’ to refine it. So overall the food was adequate and reasonable value A Master Brew for me was perfectly good but not much else on offer from memory A generous 4* but a few simple improvements to make 5* in 2024 so we will be back to see how things are…. Happy Christmas 🎄

Just had an evening meal there and the food was amazing an plentiful. The atmosphere is brilliant and was made very welcomed by the staff and other people In there as well. Called in for drinks with friends while on a night out in Tenterden. The atmosphere was lively and, even though it was busy, our drinks were served, by friendkly staff, without delay. Can recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to drop into for a drinkl and/or a meal.

Had brilliant service and food today, our server was Brannon he was very friendly and professional. Originally went elsewhere but didn't get a good vibe whereas Brannon made us feel welcome and very comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Called in for a drink with my husband, as I approached the bar I heard someone shouting ‘can I help you’ from behind me. I thought they were talking to someone behind us, but she shouted again ‘can I help you’ like a fishmongers wife, I turned round horrified that she was talking to me. I said I’ve called for a drink, (it is a pub after all), to which she responded you don’t want food, that’s ok. She then poured the drinks but her whole manner was completely off. All I can say is management needs to get rid of her, she has an appalling attitude and doesn’t have a clue on customer relations.

Nice place, food was OK although the fish and chips was a bit greasy, the only gripe was the waiting for food, nearly 40mins before it was served

We visited for a evening meal with friends . Our friends enjoyed there meal. My husband and I ordered the crab cake for starters. When it was served we both eate it and both said it tasty of potato but hardly any crab and there wasnt much of a sauce with it. My husband ordered Thai green curry with chicken. When he took his first bite the chilli was so hot and so much chilli cut over it all that it burnt his throat. He couldn't eat it and he told the waitress but nothing was done. My husband is used too eating madras but the amount of hot chilli added to this dish was ridulous. We were charged for the unadible meal and my husband went home hungry. Personally if it had been my meal I would have refused to pay for it or I would have expected another meal should have been offered.

We've been to the Vine for drinks and few times and really liked the atmosphere so came back for dinner and we weren't disappointed! Staff were attentive and friendly, especially our server Brannan. The food was very tasty, I'd highly recommended the sea bass. Overall a lovely meal, we will be back!

Been a while since we last went, but had a great time service was good, food good, and so was the beer

We'd booked and arrived spot-on time. Put in the side area, no issue with that at that point but it mattered later. Drinks order taken promptly but took a while to arrive because a few people had turned up after us. Food order taken and we asked for a appetiser that arrived promptly unlike our main course. Several tables who'd arrived after us for their food quite quickly. Twice I went to ask where ours had gone as we were parked for one hour only. It did eventually arrive and we got back to the car in time but when several tables got their food way before us it wasN't acceptable we had to ask twice for our food. We hadn't asked for anything complicated or to have something substitute for what was on offer.

At lunch I had superb confit of duck. The people waiting on table were really helpful ... Extremely good.

Dad and I made an impromptu stop for dinner after an underwhelming day at nearby Sissinghurst Gardens. And oh how this turned our day around; right from the first welcoming smile to the waitresses willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty! The food was exquisite and the teams' service and attention to detail was exemplary. When was the last time you saw a waitress remember who ordered what, so that each dish can be placed in front of the right diner without breaking their customers conversation and what's more, remember to serve the ladies first? The thought that has gone into their simple yet imaginative decor sets the perfect ambience. THIS is what hospitality should be yetvso rarely is these days. If you're in the area, don't think twice, or look elsewhere...this is the place you want to be... Enjoy....

I found this to be a very nice pub and the food was really good for the price. Public wasn't rowdy , quite pleasant really. Service was ok , I'm assuming that they were very busy as waiting for the drinks order with our meal ( I thought they had forgotten us) also we was waiting for ordering the puddings after and this was a bit of a wait that we changed our minds ( over 25 minutes) I would definitely go again. I don't think anyone would be disappointed.

I felt intimidated by the management and the locals (their friends). The food was poor, calamari was chewy and the main was burnt (pie). Please do not visit this place solo.

Food was poor, paid £4.50 for a few olives, was made to feel an outsider by the locals and management.

Our family were booked today for a table of 7 at 12.30. This is the 3rd time in visiting, the last time wasn't great with it being really busy. Service was really slow. But today basically got ignored. Meal ordered and served. Noone come to ask how the food was. Most of us had roast beef ,but this so fatty we all left majority of it. After being ignored for over an hour someone come over to clear plates. No one asked if we wanted another drink? After another half hour someone asked if we wanted a sweet. By this time we were fed up, and said no and asked for the bill. Again we waited. It's not as if we could summon someone as too busy. I asked the waitress if they were too busy ,because the service was very poor today. She agreed and offered to take the £16.05 service charge fortunately. Due to hardly having any. We were there for 2 hours and only ate a roast dinner.

No exaggeration when I say this is the best place to go in Tenterden.

What a joy visiting the Vine on the hottest day of the year. Welcomed in, we had the choice of the garden area or inside in the air conditioned area. The draught cider was perfect and the menu was full of offerings to suit every taste and appetite, we shared two small dishes which were served quickly by very engaging staff.

Great food, fantastic selection of drinks and a very helpful and friendly team. What more could you ask for?!

Only stopped for a cold beer on a meltingly hot day. The pub is nicely set out. Friendly staff, we made our way to the garden. What an oasis. Almost continental feel to it. You can sit in the covered shaded area (us) or in the open. Ok, we didn't eat here, but drooled at some of the dishes coming out!

We had a delicious Sunday lunch here - one of the best roasts I’ve had out thanks to all the veg and good roast potatoes. My vegetarian friend also thoroughly enjoyed the nut roast. Good wine list too. Would definitely go back.

The Vine is really our “go to” in Tenterden for family meals and meals with friends. The children’s menu is varied and well priced. The staff are all friendly and attentive. The main menu is full of options and is always tasty and beautifully presented. Recommend to anyone looking for a child friendly meal in Tenterden.

Unfortunately we really didn’t have a great experience at all. What makes it worse is we aren’t from the area, was staying for the weekend which was something we’d be looking forward to for a while. It was a good 15 minutes before anyone even offered us a drink, not the end of the world but it did make it worse that the restaurant was not busy at all. We both had the scotch egg as a starter, which was okay. Until I ate the last bit and there was plastic in it! I did tell a member of staff but no one seemed too bothered. We then had the beef roast. The potatoes were very hard and dry. The beef had a lot of fat on it and very chewy. The Yorkshire puddings literally crunched as you cut into them. There wasn’t much gravy so we asked for more and they gave us a very small gravy boat to share so it didn’t really do much to be honest. We did explain we weren’t happy, and was offered a free pudding but we didn’t really want to risk being disappointed any further. It’s just a shame when you don’t go out for dinner much and looking forward to it and the whole experience is disappointing.

We went for lunch on a visit to Tenterden for the afternoon.We were met by the barman who informed us that the back garden area was open and as we were dining did we have any allergies etc. We informed him that l had a fresh fruit allergy which he noted. We sat down and ordered and l asked for the chicken and bacon club sandwich with no avacado.It arrived and l bit into it only to find it was full of avacado. Yes perhaps l should have looked inside the bread first but l tend to take people at their word. I checked l was ok as l have developed anaphylactic shock in the past with immediate hospital treatment reqd. I got the waitress's attention and explained and she admitted she forgot to ask for no avacado.She said we would not be charged for the sandwich and 10% would be taken off the bill. I reordered the same sandwich and this time it was correct and at the same time asking for salt.Ten minutes later still no salt so l ended up getting it myself and putting it on my by now lukewarm sandwich.All this and the fact my wife and l came out for lunch to eat together and she had completely finished by the time mine arrived.l could maybe understand some of this if they were busy but it was about half full on a Wednesday lunchtime. The bill came and we were charged for everything - 10%. So what the waitress meant was we wouldn't be charged for the wrong avacado club (Really) but still charged for the correct one. So to be put in a potentially life threatening situation l was given a discount of approx' £2.50. Needless to say we won't be returning.

Nice premises, however staff dis-interested, not engaging. Reasonable menu choice but sadly food decidedly average and tasteless, despite large portions and being well presented. A return visit not on the cards.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at The Vine. The menu was wide and varied, offering a selection of traditional and modern dishes (mine was a delightful 3 culture fusion of cajun chicken, king prawns and linguine). Also, we received prompt service throughout. It's the sort of place you just wish was in your own village.

Lovely food and good service. The only spoiler was that the price of a glass of coke was over £5.00. It was a large glass but I can’t believe that a glass of Diet Coke costs more than a pint of bear. We queried it and the staff said there was no button on the till for a pint of coke so they added a small plus a large one - didn’t make sense and felt a bit of a rip off. Shame as the food was very good.

We were a party of 30 people and had ordered 26 roast dinners and 4 children’s meals. All of the meals were delicious well presented and throughly enjoyed. Service was spot on, every member of staff was friendly and helpful. All the details were covered,...

visited for a celebratory meal in July and was extremely disappointed with the service and meals. One of our sharing starters was a warmed up sourdough roll described as a sharing bread with dip....it was it appeared to be a roll from a packet warmed...

Visited for a large family celebration, the food and service was fantastic.

Food nice. I had confit duck leg which was delicious and the gravy thick and packet with flavour. But it came with a confit potato which was just a potato which had never seen any butter or stock. There was also a pile of wet & soggy overcooked spinach - quite unappetising. I then asked for the cheese board and a glass of port. No cheese and no port! On the good side The Vine is a friendly place with a good atmosphere and all the waiting staff were proficient and attentive.

Food and service were fantastic, just a shame most of the menu was crossed out and unavailable.

So pleased with the Sunday lunch will be back again thank you 😊

Arrived at The Vine for lunch with friends and their gorgeous dog Lennie. Got such a warm welcome from the staff and of course Frazer. Seated at a good table in the Bar Area and were served immediately. Our food was sublime. Could not fault...

We visited last night having taken a walk around Tenterden. Both of us grew up in Tenterden and have visited the vine many times over the last 40 plus years. The food was amazing and service brilliant. We had the calamari to start with the...

Yrrribke! Everything about it. The eaitresses were sweet, but it was an awful meal and spoilt our special occasion

Great pub/restaurant. Food was great, service efficient and friendly. Air con a huge bonus 👌 also has a nice garden and good covered area. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

A lovely pub in a good location in tenterden. Lovely large (and sunny beer garden) Nice kids menu, we did forget to ask for the kids food to be served with the starters. Would have been nice to have been reminded (or asked), but that doesn't loose any points, it had just been a long day and exceptional service usually trains staff to ask if kids meals are to be served as soon as/first Four stars as my reviews are based on gluten and dairy free dining. There was one safe option which was lovely however if you are gluten and dairy free this bowl is your only option (a single visit would be fine but on a more frequent basis it would definitely be upsetting) My previous visit, 6-8 months previous, the menu was different and I ordered a different dish (can't remember, might have been a vegan burger with no bun) the kitchen did make an effort to provide roast potatoes (no dedicated gluten free fryer for chips) From a service point of view and knowing you are eating safely, it's 5 stars - from a variety/choice point of view, the star was lost here, but not sure what the demand in tenterden for a gluten AND dairy free diet is particularly high. Standard dining seems to be of a good standard. Kids menu was well priced and as expected. The Sunday roasts are apparently extremely popular! gluten free beer - bottled peroni, however they were out on our last visit.
