Excellent new lunch menu. The wraps are delicious, well made and fresh ingredients. Very dog friendly, lots of treats and chews available for your pub pooch. Will be stopping by as regular as possible with the doggie in tow.

After a friends recommendation I thought I'd book for my wives birthday. What a great pub, old and traditional in appearance, not many left like this. Now the food bit, we both had a different main meal and both were faultless. Lovely staff very attentive but not in your face. The overall food/impression was GREAT. Would we go back again without hesitation as there is more on the menu I'd like to try.

The carvery in this place is amazing! My daughter in law had the nut roast version and she said it was fab! The rest of the menu is very good too!

Our second visit over he last few months. The first visit was fine, whats happened? We ordered pizza. Sadly our experience was that it was the worst pizza we can remeber being served. It was awkward as we were there with new friends and didnt want to make a fuss. The accompanying fries were fine, the pizza lacked flavour, minimal topping ingredients and the base; despite description referencing high quality sourdough base was almost inedible, like cardboard.

The people seemed friendly but I could not eat or drink here as it lacks a wheelchair accessible toilet for my partner. A shame that the refurbishment of this pub, which looks really good, could not provide an accessible. Difficult sometimes with old buildings - but still has to be 1* - sorry, nothing personal.

We ate here on a wet mid week day and were almost the only people there, however the staff were bubbly, polite and helpful. The food was good with plenty of choice on the menu.

Wonderful Sunday roast! This was my last UK roast before my move across the pond and it didn't disappoint. It was hard to find a pub that served roast later in the day (after 4pm) but Chequers on the Green was well worth the hunt. Friendly, efficient service. Feels like more of a locals' pub but we were made to feel welcome. Dog friendly.

Came here on a Saturday night for the first time and was not disappointed. Service from start to finish was friendly and the food was very good. I had the Pork Belly and my partner had the Ribs, both so good. Will definitely be back again.

Great listed pub, delicious food and quick service. Although we didn't book, they found a table for us on a busy Sunday afternoon. Definitely worth a revisit, or more than one. 👍🏻

The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and attentive. I had the pizza which was the best pizza I've had! Very fresh and tasted fantastic. The brownie was also perfect!

We had a lovely lunch here celebrating a special birthday. Most of our group enjoyed the sumptuous carvery. I enjoyed a tasty curry. The puddings after went down well. Nobody rushed us and service was friendly and efficient.

We was a large group of 14 and the staff looked after us superbly very cheerful & helpful. The food as always was first rate the people in my group have asked me to book again before our next theatre trip

One of the very best burgers I have ever had...and I've had a lot!! Very good menu selection and an extensive dessert.menu with generous portions. Staff were attentive, very polite and kind to the extent if chasing after us to the carpark as I'd left my scarf armour table. Thank you very much. We'll certainly return.

A welcoming, cosy atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Add to that an excellent choice on the menu and food that is well-presented, delicious tasting, ample portion sizes and good value for money. What more could you want?

Sunday carvery at its best. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant area was cosy but not overcrowded. The meats on the carvery were cooked really well and the choice of vegetables was admirable. The price is very reasonable at £14.95. Beer is a little expensive but it too is well kept. We will certainly be going back in the very near future.

We went to the Xmas tree switch on last night then decided to eat the pie ( steak ale ) was delicious filling was so amazing looking forward to be going again next weekend

An excellent dinner with friends. After a warm welcome, we were shown to our table and our drinks served by friendly staff without any delay. There was a good choice on the menu and my wife's Gluten Free diet did not cause any problems. Our food was well presented and delicious. The portion sizes were ample and very good value for money. I can certainly recommend.

Excellent pub It was the best steak pie I've ever eaten .

My family and I went here for a carvery that we booked for 11 but 1 person did not come so the manager said due to the fact that it was busy we had to pay for them aswell but there was no people even in there then we had a cake (that we bought from home)and they gave us plates and charged us an additional £2 per head I was appalled by the extra charges they gave and the food was average i would avoid.

Just been at chequers for lunch. Great food! I had the cold fish platter for starters and the carbonara with chicken. Although the "carbonara" was with a cream sauce and chicken (so not original) it was very yummy! Service was very friendly!

Staff were very welcoming and friendly towards us and the crazy children we bought with us. Carvery was lovely and the staff even bought out ice cream and a shot for my mum for her birthday! You all made our afternoon very special so thankyou :)

We took my 94 year old father in law and his 92 years old wife here for a Tuesday lunchtime me and couldn't have been more impressed by the welcome ,tre service and the food that we received . The main meals of liver and burger were spot on and the merrigue pudding was something to behold. Lovely atmosphere in the pub and wheelchair friendly as well.. would definitely recommend this pub for all occasions

What a lovely find! I’d not visited before and we were looking for somewhere between Ashford & Tenterden for a Friday friends lunch. Everything was perfect …ample parking (including very close to the pub for accessibility issues …(or in the event of rain causing frizzy hair!) A very warm welcome from the delightful hosts, into a beautiful period building …lots of beams, totally authentic… …..efficient and very friendly service and best of all delicious food and drinks (we loved the wine glasses too!) And it was lovely and warm in there (always a bonus for chilly me!) We plan to revisit as we’ve heard the Sunday carvery is fab! Thank you so much for making us so welcome …will definitely be back soon :)

Lovely destination pub sitting on the Village Green. We had the Sunday carvery which was excellent with tons of choice. The staff are brilliantly friendly and efficient which reflects so well on the owners. This was our third visit in the last few months and...

Dirty place. Big burger was small.

Terrible service . Waitress think she smart and she can remember my order . Next time stuff should use pads. Send me a not complicated order £20 burger is a joke. Burger King is better for £10 Disappointed very much. If I could .I will give 0 stars. This my last time, at this pub/restaurant. .

First time going there with my girlfriend. So welcoming and friendly. The food was totally amazing. Great portion sizes.

We have been here three times now and each time has been great. The food is lovely and very reasonably charged for the south east. Most dishes are between £10-£15 and you get plenty. The ribs are delicious and also really cheap. Staff and helpful and friendly and surprisingly they never seem to be so full you can’t get a table. Parking is easy too. Definitely recommended.

I'm so impressed and grateful to the staff. After finding my receipt several weeks after our meal while sorting my paperwork out I noticed I'd been overcharged. I emailed my receipt through and explained the discrepancy and was offered a refund immediately. We all very much enjoyed our Sunday lunch at this pub and will certainly return next time we make the trip from Cambridgeshire to Tenterden. My thanks to the staff. Mrs. Patricia Law

Excellent Carvery on a Sunday! Lovely old pub with great service. Only issue is the parking is a bit tight, so get there early to ensure you get a spot!

Have not been there for a few years, would definitely recommend going there, the food was great as was the service and the staff were friendly and polite.

Enjoyed a lovely pasta ravioli today at the Chequers, very nice, with a great well dressed salad, but although this might sound petty, being charged extra for a few shavings of parmisan 'cheesed' me off! To add more to my bill without prior notice really bugged me. What next, charges for salt n pepper without letting you know? The service, although polite and cheery, consisted of just bringing my plate to my table. A simple 'every thing alright?' at some point would have been appreciated and courteous. Having worked in the service industry myself, I like to leave a fair tip, but I found this hard to justify today. I only tipped a minimal amount. Although I was eating alone, I would still normally leave at least a £10 / £15 tip, so the hidden charge for a few shavings of parmisan, and the non service, saved me a few quid, without me feeling any guilt at all. Sorry Chequers, good food, but otherwise I wasn't impressed.

WOW! The food is amazing especially the burgers which are made in house with locally sourced meat. This is my wife and I’s second visit to the pub; we returned this evening as we had such a lovely experience at the beginning of the week with Jordan. Austen looked after us this evening. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and was very busy for a mid-week evening. There is a good selection of food on the menu. I have never seen Bao Buns on a pubs menu before and wow they were delicious…. Photo attached 😁 We are on holiday in Kent and if we are ever in the area again we will certainly be popping in to see Jordan, Austen and the team. They were so welcoming and will do anything to ensure your visit is enjoyable. Thanks Guys!

Been 3 times now, one evening and twice for the carvery. Excellent all times, really enjoyed the food and the service is brilliant from all the staff. We have 2 retrievers, not an issue at all, they got plenty of fuss, treats and a water bowl. Apparently they have the best brownie, and this is from a 13 year old that has had brownies all over the world! Her portion today was huge so she was very happy after a busy weekend. Look forward to coming next time we're down.

Stopped here, initially just for a drink with my partner, when passing through. We were on holiday in the area. It was coming up to tea time after we had our first drink, and having looked at their menu, decided to eat there as well. We were both very glad we did, because the food was excellent. I had the sirloin steak, and my partner had the chicken supreme, and we both though it was one of the best meals we'd had in ages. Highly recommended.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! Had a group of 11 of us go and have dinner here. Although the steaks were okay, unfortunately the Cajun chicken burger, which 4 of us had was bland, no taste and very disappointing. Although they got taken away, we were told we couldn’t have anything else because they were to busy. The staff (especially the manager/owner) became very rude, and abrupt along with changing their attitude towards us all and even pulled one of the group aside, and got very aggressive towards him because the ‘discretionary’ service charge, we didn’t agree with paying and got told, if we didn’t then we would not be welcome back. Would never go to this place again. And if you are thinking about going here then I wouldn’t bother, there are a lot better places to eat.

After looking for a Carvery in the area the reviews pointed us to the Chequers and boy were they right! A wonderful, family run pub/restaurant with staff who enjoy their work 😀 The Carvery was fantastic with a choice of 4 meats which were all succulent, accompanied by a huge selection of vegetables, all cooked to perfection 🥰 Five stars is minimum ✨️

Friends and I had lunch at the Chequers on the Green and thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish. The welcome was warm and relaxed. The service was spot on. The menu is the best I have ever seen. It is very wide ranging but includes simple as well as unusual meals. The food was delicious and arrived quickly, was well presented and served. The atmosphere was relaxed, a great ambience. Best meal out I've had in a long time and certainly won't be my last! Thank you to the team at the Chequers. Good job done!

This place is amazing!! We are about an hour away but it is more than worth the travel! The food is perfect no matter what you have ( Sunday roast carvery is the best i have ever had ) and all the staff are absolutely brilliant too making you feel welcome, comfortable and catered for. The professionalism and quality of this place is second to none.

I have been to Chequers on the Green a few times and have never been disappointed. Food is well above average and mixed starters were delicious. Friendly, well run establishment with Harvey's and Old Dairy on tap. Great!
