The George Hotel in Ashford

Too busy especially on Friday, so thank God for the back...

Full of very very young people and not great music. It's a pub, does what it says on the tin - the shots offers etc very much aiming at the younglings.

Everything about this pub is great. The food, the drink, the service and the atmosphere. Especially later on in the evening.

Going to take a wild guess that the older than other staff with black hair lady dosent appreciate a northern accent at the bar , for as soon as her to start serving the price of my drinks went up 20p and not one word spoken to me to then steo it up just throwing a morretti in a kronenbourge glass when i can see all the clean morretti glasses , anyway i took the hint . Wont be handing my money over in here again , i was nothing but polite and respectful but obviously my accent must offend you as nobody else was taken for a mug barring me

It was 7yrs ago but it was a wonderful and enjoyable experience. The place is older than I would have imagined but with the great pride the people working there had transferred to the roots of the building.

No change unfortunately, though the London Pride remains in tip top condition (they got that right at least) Update: not much changed, the Northern owners still have it totally wrong and missed the local touch it is still poor and they have no awareness! (though I can be found daily sitting in the corner for two beers - still London Pride - and a glass of Tempranillo (not going to give up on a pub beeen drinking in since 1961): early doors, gave up on drinking later in the day no local live bands anymore shame) ORIGINAL REVIEW Very sporty (well football, horse racing and golf little else gets a look in). Can be exceptionally noisy and _no_ quiet area with full visuals but low sound for the hard of hearing Have only one real ale on (London Pride) and that is kept very well - they also have the ubiquitous DoomBar for the cheapskates - won't touch it myself so no comment A fair range of red wines - some not bad - but only working on mark up so should you like Echo Falls you'll be in heaven (but it's cheaper in the local stores - drink at home) No change it is still a corporate northern owed bar ("we have been successful in the north so this is what you're having" with total disregard to the locals - such arrogance; they should have done a market survey when they first took over) Beer (only London Pride now plus the cold fizzy stuff for the youngsters) kept well and staff run off their feet

Nice friendly local pub. Pool tables and lots of flat screen TVs to watch the football. Nice out door seating area out back

Nice warm, friendly staff. A pint of lager was reasonabley priced and 2 games of pool were a £1... What's not to like!! 👍

Was ok needs more staff came on the Friday before xmas and the 2 staff were very much up against it which meant waiting a good 15 mins while the randomly picked people to serve

Not from Ashford, but my friend and I popped in there and loved it-friendly bar staff, mixed age customers, lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend.

Not a bad pub but no IPA and being a Craft Pub that's a bit silly had to settle for a lager outside seating was OK staff weren't very friendly either I will not be returning

The pub is ok. The food below average, and the staff less then interested in customers. This was my first and last time I will come into this establishment.

Friendly, busy, lively atmosphere, great place to go mix with the locals and have a game of pool and a few drinks. Bathrooms are clean. Bar area very clean and tidy.

This is a lovely traditional town pub. Its prices are great also. The pub has lots of screens to watch sport. Its not a hotel! I drunk London Pride in there a few days ago. It was loovely.

We came here on the recommendation of some people who had been on a course here previously and discovered this place one evening. Friendly landlady, decent choice of beers, good prices and comfortable enough interior.

The George Hotel is no longer a hotel and does not do food anymore but a good selection of beers at the cheaper price

Went here for drinks a couple of nights, has the most reasonable prices I have come across in a pub for a long time! Staff polite and efficient too

My husband and my self often nip in for a glass or two of wine. They have comfy chairs. Friendly staff and great music (free) on their juke box It had an old worldly charm. Try it and see.

Nice pub in town center, plays local bands frequently. Plays sky sports and bt sport, drinks reasonable pricing. Didn't take card payment and not sure if that is temporary or permanent feature.

Uncomfortable. The barmaid did not know what a Martini is! The bar decor and seating is in need of a serious facelift.

Very old pub with its own charm. Prices are on par with other pubs. In recent months it seems to have been renovated slightly to look more modern which is a nice touch. Also be aware that this pub only takes cash.

Don't go out in Ashford much but when we do we often pop in the George. Well.... I won't bother in future, it's was absolutely dire!! Landlady completely ignored us and clearly didn't want to lift a finger... waiting 10 minutes to get served cos the other girl had people waiting. Don't mind waiting to be served but when someone is standing right in front of you... doing absolutely nothing and chatting to her friend it's a bit of a pi$# take!! Won't be going back unless there a 100% revamp!!!

Dreadful, Credit card machine out of action. Poor choice of drinks, staff dressed like they were going to the gym, trakkie bottoms etc. Shoes sticking to the floor - do these guys know anything about customer service. Will I go back? Only if it was my own wake!

Me, my partner and a couple of friends stopped in for a social drink on Saturday night to see how it is under new management. It started very well, with the bar areas having been spruced up although it was very quiet with only maybe 12-16 patrons and no live bands in evidence which was the main thing that the George stood out for in Ashford!

Absolutely loved it. Fantastic decor, brilliant live music and the new ladies running it are lovely. 1 Changed hands not for the better ...reason why would be nice?

Reservé una habitación aquí, y cuando me llamó unos días antes para confirmar fue informado de que el nuevo propietario había decidido - la semana antes de que todas las reservas existentes eran cancelada ya que estaban ya no ofrece alojamiento. Si se trata de un temporal o permanente la decisión está clara. Llamé a intentar averiguar más, pero no comer ni beber nada. La zona del bar no inspiran confianza.

Unbelievably excellent staff we would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Slow service, dirty/old/water marked glasses. Only stayed for one drink before we decided to go somewhere else. Sat at a table in the empty restaurant side which was good to find somewhere on a Friday night. Live music was ok.

Always a great Saturday night out, with either live bands or Webbos 80s disco. Great bar and attentive staff.

Stayed with my 10 yr old child for the night, our circumstances mean we often stay in hotels and often busier places and he always sleeps well regardless in fact we both like a little background noise.

Friendly, helpful staff, good atmosphere, room needs updating but was fine for one night, wouldn't pay over £40 for it. Room wasn't technically en suite as no toilet in room, bed was comfy, pretty quiet, not really any parking spaces.

I have started eating in the George over the last year. Food is always good & tasty. Most mains are around £9 to £10. Staff are all friendly & helpful. Sometimes they are a little overworked covering the bar & restaurant

Visited the George Hotel for lunch, the food was good enough, staff were friendly, and priced reasonably. Would visit again if ever in the area.
