The Village Tea Room serves tasty savouries, lovely soup and scrumptious cheesecake and home-baked cakes. It’s run by a lovely, hardworking couple who are friendly, so you feel fine going in there on your own. Tea is served from china teapots and coffee from cafetières …China teacups of course! Love the sugar tongs! A former cottage sweet shop is the bijou, quirky, old world setting, brimful of fascinating & extraordinary artefacts from bygone eras. A delightful, nostalgic place for lovely breakfasts, lunches or afternoon teas….No wonder I’ve become a regular!

The staff are very friendly . The establishmen has a vintage theme, with pretty china and glassware . The decor is homely and the fire is a nice touch . The tea room however, looks very cluttered and a little run down. That may be intentional, part of the theme . My toastie did not look appetising but was OK . Presentation left a lot to be desired . The cafetiere of coffee was hot and held two cups. The milk was served in a pretty jug but on serving, was slopped all over the table. The cost was reasonable . Overall , I did not think that the venue seemed very clean. The knitted mice on the shelf did not look out of place .

We'd reserved an outside table for 12 pm, but unfortunately we arrived to find the Teashop experiencing a power cut. Whilst I fully appreciate that a power failure is beyond the control of the owners, surely serving cold drinks and cakes should not present an insurmountable problem? The owners had been happy to take my booking via messenger, so surely they could have informed me that they were effectively cancelling my reservation? Their facebook page clearly stated that they were open when we arrived. A disappointing lack of respect for customers, we shall take our custom elsewhere in future.

We waited for a place outside in the tea garden, so glad about that. Food was gorgeous, sandwiches were freshly prepared, beautiful bread, served with Doritos + choice of cakes (variety of lush homemade ones), then my favourite cream scones mmm delicious, so light too, plus lashings of tea to help it all go down. Very pleasant couple of hours. Can't wait to go again!

Visited here a couple of times as had vouchers bought for Christmas (thought the vouchers are very expensive for what you get, £10 per person) rang to book and told them my mum was elderly, when we arrived it was busy and were told we could sit on a sofa (my mum couldn’t sit there as she has problems getting up) was then told we could sit in the garden (again a no no as it was a cold day) we waited for a while then sat at an empty table. Requested not to have the spread Chese and cucumber sandwiches ( as they were awful the last Time we came). Asked what cake we wanted and we choose lemon, the cakes looked lovely but we were disappointed as when it came the piece was tiny and the half of scone was very dry. I have visited other tea rooms and you get much more for your money! Was going to complain but my mum asked me not to. Will not be visiting again, hopefully no one will buy me another voucher.

£10 a head for sandwiches, cakes and a hot drink. The selection of sandwiches was very poor, grated cheese, spread cheese with cucumber, ham and beef. Meat mixed with cheese on same plate. All bread the same, no variety. The selection of cakes was much better. Told me they had catered for ten. Seven of us arrived and we took enough home for one person who was ill. So only enough for eight. Overall, very poor value and I could see the man grating cheese on the counter desk! So not very hygienic either.

Deservedly popular licensed lunch and tea venue offering a good range of reasonably-priced, high quality light lunches and puddings with some heftier options too. Seating inside and out, including a few sheltered garden booths. Gets very busy and rather noisy so take earplugs if you want to tone it down a bit! One eccentricity is that they serve bottle mayonnaise but not bottled salad cream, even though the former is like the latter with its flavour removed, but I don't think they charge corkage if you take your own! Service is friendly but can be a little slow due to the popularity of the place, hence 4/5 rating.

A scone with jam, cream and fresh strawberry plus a selection of smaller cakes- perfect chance to sample. The service was excellent from the husband and wife team and nothing was too much trouble. We had a high chair for the baby and a ladybird plate for the three year old and each of us had a matching trio( side plate, cup and saucer) something that is missing in other tea rooms. I have been a couple of times in the past , but this week the service was very poor, two young woman running the tea rooms, really spent more time chatting to each other than clearing tables, and when we did get the tea, we had to ask for cups, then ask again and again and again, in the end the tea was nearly cold., Such a shame because the cakes are really excellent and the place is so lovely to visit. In the past we had been served by the most charming lady who owned the place, I do so hope that the service won't deteriorate, it would be a crime.
