Stopped at this lovely pub for dinner whilst on holiday in the area. Very accommodating we were a party of 3 adults and 2 children aged 4 and 7, with us. There was a great choice of food on the menu. We had no problem choosing something to suit us. The food came quite promptly and it was delicious, clean plates all round. Very pleasant staff on the bar and serving food.

We had been to Chillingham Wild Cattle and stopped for dinner. We menu was good and had a good selection. We had Longframlington Sausage and Mash, Pot Pie and a Steak sandwich. The portions sizes were good, the food was delicious and being a gastro pub the prices were still reasonable and average. They boxed what could not be eaten for us to take come. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. There was a good selection at the bar, music/tv was not too loud. They have a pool table, live music and dogs are welcome. There is also accommodation that can been booked. The only slight down side is there are not many parking spaces outside and it's on a bend so you need to take care when you do park outside. There are other streets nearby where you can park. We will definitely make a point of stopping off again.

When does a club sandwich become a half a ciabatta! Awful. Clearly didn't have the "artisan" bread as described in the menu, and rather than asking if ciabatta would be ok, just served it. Half a ciabatta for £12 with a bit of halloumi and coleslaw. Overpriced and horrible!

Poor food quality in general, meat was very tough and had been standing a while, when you arrive and nobody is eating just a couple of people drinking sort of told the story from the start. This used to be delicious but gone down hill unfortunately.. the running fox across the road does wonderful cakes and treats so that made tye 30 mile trip a little worth it

Quick visit looking for some supper. Lovely friendly pub with great food. Gammon n egg was excellent and a huge portion from their local butchers. French onion soup which again was delicious and served by a very friendly, polite and well spoken young man. He deserved a gratuity. Would call in again if we are near by.

Just been here for Sunday lunch carvery. Staff very friendly. Carvery was good just a couple of minor criticisms would of been nice if plates had been a bit warmer and potatoes too were a bit cold. All other fresh veg was nicely cooked and hot. Yorkshire puddings were lovely as was the gravy. Been nice to of had a bit of cauliflower cheese to go with it. As I say overall it was very nice!

We decided to come here for lunch today (a Tuesday) as we’ve tried all our local pubs and wanted to try somewhere else while still not having to drive very far. So pleased we did so! Absolutely lovely bar staff, very welcoming and friendly, which is always a good sign. Ordered our food and waited long enough to know it wasn’t just being heated up in a microwave but not so long that we got too hungry. When the food arrived it looked lovely and we definitely weren’t disappointed. My partner had a small fish and chips which was extremely nice, with minted mushy peas and fresh tartare sauce (which could have been gone made?) I had the steak and ale pot pie with creamy mash and tender stem broccoli. All perfectly cooked, and the pie was excellent and I can honestly say the best pie I’ve ever had in any restaurant. Perfectly made flaky pastry, plenty of chunks of steak and amazing thick gravy. Absolutely zero complaints and we will definitely be going back again soon and will probably try the Sunday carvery at the weekend too. Thank you very much.

We called in at this lovely pub after walking at Thrunton Woods. Lovely garden area to sit and people watch over a cold beer. The man on the bar was lovely, really friendly and welcoming. We didn't eat on this occasion but their menu was fab and we'd certainly come back for dinner in the future. The inside is lovely and nicely decorated too. Would recommend and will return.

This local pub / restaurant made us feel very welcome when we visited. Plenty of parking either on the front of the pub area or within a few yards of the place made visitig easy as did the friendly staff. Lots of choice on the menu. Food was generously portioned and nicely cooked and presented. All our dishes were great so you can feel safe picking anything as far as I could tell. ** Quality food ** 1st time we visited this pub after driving through the village multiple times whilst on holiday up here My wife had the steak, Son had tandoori chicken & I had the Tandoori burger! Wow we all loved our meals. We also had our Lab with us who was welcomed in but we sat outside in the blazing sun, She was given water which was nice of them, We also had desserts which topped off our experience of the Village Inn pub! Amazing food 👍

Good was ok. Not much choice and nothing like the pictures the old visitors had posted. The carpet on the stairs was sticky, the menus were greasy and the place was understaffed. The chap being the best was unhelpful and the two ladies looking after the dinners were rushed off their feet. Poor management.

I had just visited (and thoroughly enjoyed) Longframlington Gardens and it was mid-afternoon. I had not yet lunched and was famished. The gardens are currently having some infrastructure issues that mean their coffee shop is closed, but they did mention that there were places to get food and drink in the village, just seconds away by car. I was not hopeful because I thought it unlikely, in so small and remote a community, that anywhere would be serving food outside of conventional meal times, especially on a weekday. Might not even be open, I thought. Thankfully, I was wrong. The attractive Village Inn was open, couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming and - best of all - were serving their full menu all day. I had an excellent pint of local beer from their well-stocked bar and perused the menu which included a number of tempting lunches, sandwiches etc. I chose the hot beef and onion ciabatta and some chips (the phrase 'extra gravy for dipping ' won me over. These, I thought, were my kind of people!). It was an absolutely top notch sandwich, not least due to the rich and unctuous gravy. I dipped with Homer Simpson-like relish. The ambiance in the surprisingly spacious Village Inn manages to blend the clean, brightness of modern facilities and furnishings with the cosy, cottage pub feeling of the original building. I'm not a lover of TV in pubs and they did have several large flat screens dotted around, but the overall feeling of the place was not what I usually associate with 'Sky Sports' type venues at all - so I'll make an exception. All in all a superb pub and one I'd love to try dining in, some day.

Normally food is absolutely amazing from here, went for my partners birthday meal tonight was so disappointed with the food it was disgusting!! Fish was full of bones & no taste, tandoori chicken burger tasted as though it had been reheated dry & tasteless, no house slaw on either meal as stated, tandoori burger advertised with skin on fries & brioche bun came in normal bread bun & chunky chips! Would normally recommend here for a meal after tonight’s meal will not be recommending this venue for food….

Went for lunch as we seen the “credit crunch lunch” advertised outside. Out of the 3 mains in the menu only 2 were available (baked potato wasn’t available, a kitchen without potatoes??). I appreciate the thought of keeping down costs however this shouldn’t be reflected in the quality. It’s not like the chef was rushed off his feet there was only one other customer in the bar. Chicken wrap- why not make some homemade breaded chicken goujons rather than 3 tasteless bought in frozen ones. Pasta- the pasta was supposed to be bacon with fresh chilli and Parmesan. The bacon was grey and tasted reheated, no chilli definitely no fresh chilli and no Parmesan. We complained to the bar staff, offered us another chicken wrap in place of the pasta. We explained that the taste/look of pasta had put us off and didn’t want a replacement. Still got charged full price!! No offer of a slight discount or even an additional drink.

What a wonderful place to find. Was travelling between Druridge Bay and Cragside with 6 month old Labrador puppy in search of lunch. We pitched up at the bar, lovely warm welcome, nice non alcoholic beer available. There was only Sunday lunch on offer but good choice of meats, which was heart breaking, had to be done and I wasn’t disappointed. Firstly because pup wasn’t allowed in carvery (imagine the chaos) and I wanted to eat outside one of the waiting staff went out with dog and stayed with him, being really friendly until I had chosen roast lamb, there was also roast and mashed potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and cabbage plus lovely rich gravy and all the condiments you could think of. Best part Yorkshire puddings huge and I could of had 2! The chef was really friendly and puppy was very happy when I returned. Really enjoyed unexpected find and would recommend as a truly customer focussed pub that go out of there way. Many indifferent establishments could learn a lot. Thank you

It started at 21:00 and didn't end until after 23:00. The speaker volume was exceptionally loud, with no consideration for guests staying over night. We should have realised that noise was going to be a problem when we saw the earplug vending machine mounted on the corridor leading to our bedroom!Evening dinner and breakfast both took a long time to arrive.Tiny bathroom. We didn't consider the £110 we paid for the night to be value for money.

We ate at the village inn three times this week. The fact we ate three times there, is a testimony to the chef and the staff at the restaurant. The food was delicious, I definitely recommend trying to brie bites. They were utterly delicious. We understand it was half term, however, why was such a busy pub extremely understaffed? The restaurant was served by two/three people at the time and even though at points in times the pub was half full, chef was struggling to cope. Our last meal took an hour and a half to arrive. The food was absolutely spot on, but it seemed poor chef was all on their own. As mentioned, the food was suberb, but it seemed to us the staff is being led down by the management. They had no training on table service. They did their best, but without training it was confusion all around. We realise this is a combo of covid and brexit consequences, but management has to step up and help/teach their staff. Plus recruit and pay decent/living standard wages. All in all a good experience, but with room for improvement.

Where to start. Firstly was served my wine in a glass with lipstick on the rim from a previous customer. Not great hygiene standards especially with COVID. Then had a half hour wait for someone to take our order, to then have to wait another hour for one course. Not particularly busy so no excuse. When my meal did come the sauce was served all over the food and was so over powering it was all I could taste. Staff were clearly prioritizing one table above all others which does not make the other customers feel very welcome. Used to go on a regular basis before lockdown but won’t be returning as standards have definitely slipped

This speaks volumes and I would visit again on that basis.

Ate here while on holiday in the village recently and loved it so much we returned a further twice. Food was always very tasty and hot when it arrived freshly cooked. Service was warm and friendly and pricing was very reasonable.

5 of us turned up unannounced for an evening meal. They were very helpful and accommodating and explained that we would have a wait. The food was very nice and good value. Would definitely return,

Stopped off by chance here for lunch. Pub was quiet and welcome was friendly. Choice of areas to eat and love the variety of types of chairs. Food is made to order to a short wait and well worth it. My son loved the calimari (refusing to share) and perfectly cooked sirloin. OT and I had traditional pub grub of gammon and eggs for him and scampi for me. Tasty and well presented. Spot on for what we needed.

Called in by chance and had the carvery we chose the lamb which was so tender it was falling apart it was gorgeous. The roast potatoes were very nice soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside. The veg was okay apart for some of the parsnips some were lovely but some were quite raw. I would call again

Popped in here without doing any research and found it to be a decent pub serving decent pub food. I had the posh fish finger sandwich which had three good cod strips in batter and came on a choice of white bread, brown or ciabatta. My wife went for the roast beef and gravy sandwich which was well filled.

Stopped here for a bite to eat on our way home and we were the only people in the whole restaurant. This did not bother us, however we waited 30 minutes for our food to come out and when I got my meal, the burger that I ordered was cold on the outside and raw on the inside. I had to ask the staff for a new one. Whilst waiting for this the other members of my party finished their meals and no one came back to give me an ETA of the new burger. Needless to say, we paid for the two sub standard meals that we had and walked out without my meal. I will never go to this pub again.

Proper pub, with food as well. The carvery was quite good value - you could have a small or large portion. Meats were good and tasty - the vegetables etc served from heated containers not quite as good. But, a good atmosphere and friendly staff.

Just a short drive from our holiday cottage, we had difficulty choosing our mains as there is a standard menu and a huge range of specials. Choice of desserts was easier. Staff very friendly and efficient, and helped us out a little bit with the weekly quiz (£1 each, and more food included, sausage and chips, which we had to decline..)

We had a meal here and the Chips that came with the meals had either been re-fried about 12 times or the oil being used needed changing. They were almost black. When we went to pay we pointed this out and the "chef" stated that the potatoes were not very good at the moment - be quite, do not tell McCains, as they must get theirs from somewhere else!. The scampi was quite nice however. At no point were we offered a discount either - that would have saved this entry a little. Our recomendation is do not use here.

This is a great place to eat. The restaraunt has a regular menu but it also has a decent specials board with about 6 additional starters and 6 additional main courses to chose from. The food was prepared freshly to order and was amazing quality. I ordered the muscles and Thai green curry from the specials board. The food was brought to our table quickly and the food was delicious. The service was excellent and the waitresses were really friendly too. The is also a bar with a good range of ales, wines, etc.

Title says it all. To be fair we were warned but the wait seemed to go on for ages. Cod and chips and the vegetarian wellington were ordered and when they finally arrived the portion size was massive (infact neither of us could finish them)

We stopped by chance at The Percy Arms for a drink and ended up eating an amazing meal-Wednesday afternoon and very quiet but the food was delicious and the service excellent. The soup was very tasty and the steak cooked to perfection - we will return!

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

Our introduction to this country pub was to a spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean bedroom, with stunning views of the fells. Next dinner and cooking of Michelin quality. A highlight was the scallop with belly pork, a brilliant dish. Next morning breakfast, again flawless in every respect from the service to the produce. Any prospective dining pub owner/chef should come here to see how it's done.

Generous portions of tasty pub food and some excellent local cask beer. The warmest of welcomes for me and Razzie the border terrier and a special shout out to Adele for looking after me so well!
