We looked at the great reviews for this place and decided to try a Sunday roast. Sadly, it was very disappointing. The food was served on a huge round plate, swimming in a lake of gravy. What happened to gravy boats? The pork belly had a large seam of fat where it hadn’t been properly rendered, the roast potatoes firm and waxy rather than crisp but fluffy inside, the broccoli virtually raw. The carrot and parsnip were fine! A great pity, given the money that was spent giving this pub a beautiful makeover, that they can’t deliver a decent roast for £18.

Lovey quiet meal on a Sunday. We were served by Megan, she was very friendly and gave us the right amount of attention. The Food was very tasty and was presented beautifully.

I've always really liked the village. It'd be perfect if they made more of a garden out the back. I came here for lunch midweek. One of us ordered a burger, I had a steak ciabatta. Neither were particularly great. The service was great, and it's not the fault of the kitchen staff either who did a decent job with bad ingredients and stingy portion control. My problem with it was that it's expensive, £17 for a burger. When you pitch at premium pricing like that then the quality should be so much better than those oval shaped cheap frozen ones, and the amount of steak in my sandwich was pretty dissapointing. I'd go somewhere else for much better food at a lower price point.

I visited with a friend on Sunday for lunch and we’d made a reservation. We arrived and it turned out there was no reservation for us. The staff member just gestured me away, she didn’t seem to care and was not interested in the slightest. I ordered a drink and asked for a menu, again with the same staff member who looked like I’d asked get to donate some blood rather than just get me a food menu. I also asked her for a bowl of water for my dog, she said she’d bring it over, she didn’t. We then settled at a table and I came back to the bar to order, I then spoke to an equally non committal man this time who seemed to be distracted and not really paying attention. I ordered the food and asked for a bowl of water again. It arrived about 10 minutes later but the bowl was filthy and had rust on it so I didn’t let my dog drink out of it. The food arrived and we’ve had Sunday lunch there before which had been great in the past. They’ve changed the plates they serve the food on to ones that are much flatter and they seem to have piled loads of gravy all over the plate. The food itself was very nice, but not worth what we paid. We had no cutlery on the table and nothing had been brought over, so we asked the man to bring some cutlery over, again he looked like we told him he had got three months to live rather than “can we have some cutlery please”, he came back with the cutlery and then we asked him for some mustard and salt and pepper again, he displayed a poor attitude and acted like he was doing us a huge favour. We ate our food and left very quickly we were there just under an hour. Very disappointed as I’ve visited in the week previously and the service has been absolutely excellent and the staff have been very hospitable. Clearly you had the staff working on Sunday who weren’t very good and weren’t very focused, very disappointed. I worked in a similar environment as weekend staff and me and my colleagues always put on a smile and were always helpful and attentive. The people you had on duty on Sunday clearly need some training on how to work with customers and look after them and show some hospitality. Not once did they say thank you, how can I help, or even smile.

Food was good and service was great. My partner had the fish and chips which was tasty however the biscoff cheesecake I had for dessert was the highlight. Cocktails were great and our host Mike was fab. We will be back again!

We had a lovely Sunday Roast today at The Village. The pub is beautifully decorated and it provides table service. We sat in a cosy booth where we enjoyed our meals. For dessert we had a really tasty biscoff cheesecake with honeycomb ice-cream and our daughter had chocolate tart. We are definitely coming back to ‘The Village’ and we’d suggest you give it a try too!

Will be back! Amazing roast and dessert! First time visiting here and wow what a place, lovely and clean with a posh appearance without the high price's, the staff were all welcoming and friendly. We came as part of a large book group and there were no issues with the food. The roast chicken was one of the best I've had and the sticky Toffee to follow. With free parking (entering your reg inside). Will definitely be back soon to try something else or just the roast again.

Went for an early Sunday lunch, venue is lovely and staff very welcoming, we were shown to our table when we ordered drinks, I ordered an Inches cider and my partner a floater coffee, the drinks took a while to come but when they did the coffee was cold and not a floater coffee, whilst my cider turned out to be a larger which I drank some of, I’m gluten free celiac, this then caused a problem so I flagged down a waiter, he was rather unphased by the problem, he replaced the drink and that was that, I then flagged down another gentleman, being Sewn, who was a lot more helpful, informed the manager for us and seemed to have a genuine concern, our food came out, we both had the belly pork mine being gluten free, the food was lovely, good portion, although a gluten free Yorkshire pudding would have been nice, during our meal the manager did come over and apologised for the gluten issue, he said he would take my food off the bill and drink and apologised again, which is fair enough, we decided to leave at this point as I was beginning to get uncomfortable so we went up to the bar to pay where the manager informed us he had cleared the bill, and asked us to visit again to show they can be better which was a lovely surprise and I was happy to pay, because of this though we will be going back, the manager was very helpful and Sean was also a great help.

First time here for a while and I was not disappointed everything was very good, service excellent, new menu has just launched and looks really good 😊

Very disappointing. I ordered the American pancakes from the breakfast menu and it cost £9. When it arrived it was literally just 2 tiny soggy undercooked pancakes (the middle was raw and mushy) and 1 piece of bacon (which was cold and tough). ONE. For £9 I would have expected something that cost them more than 37p to make. Are the kitchen staff dumb or something like can you guys even cook or are you too busy hitting on the waitstaff and doing lines on your lunch breaks? scammed :(

We booked here for a family of 12, pre-ordered the food. They did not communicate with us or apologise for the hour wait, even though it was not busy. No table service, no welcome. When asked how much longer our food would be, the response, was “you have to expect to wait a while” waited for 15 more minutes with hungry children. Informed them we were leaving, the response was ok!! THEY DID NOT CARE!! Ordered pizzas at home for all the family & ate at 10pm, even that was a better service! An embarrassment to meet up with family & arrange a time & date to look forward to the worst experience we have ever had. A birthday gathering, was spoilt by their incompetence. The “new” manager calls 2 days after to offer us to go back, NO THANK YOU! Unless the staff have changed!! Offered us to go to their sister restaurants, we accepted, told him dates & times we are all available. Never heard from him again, we had to get in contact, to then be told us that they have no availability on those dates. Which were 2 weeks in advance. Overall they need to have a staff change & someone needs to go in & turn this place around & train their staff in customer service. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!

Place was empty and went in for dinner. Sat us right next to the kitchen door and where they stack the cutlery. Asked was anywhere else free to sit. No they are reserved yet the whole time we were there they were empty. Had to listen to the constant banging and clanging from the cutlery stand by the staff. One nice staff members a young man was very polite. Wouldn't go bk.

We booked a table for my daughter’s birthday. We had pre ordered our food and our table was booked for 7.30. We got yo the pub at 6.30 and had a few drinks before sitting at our table. The waiteress came out with the wrong food as they had got the orders mixed up. We waited one hour and asked why we hadn’t had our meals. We were told that they would be out in 5 minutes. After waiting another 15 minutes we decided enough was enough. We complained and asked for our deposit back. The staff are very rude and unfriendly. The bar staff snatch the money out of your hand and do not say thankyou. The whole experience was a disappointment and I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is the most unpleasant pub I have ever been to.

Beautiful venue. Shame it was empty. Reason being. Food over priced and very sparce menu. £24 for sirloin... Not ribeye. Steak was over cooked and not rested. Blood still seeping into rest of food. I did complain and it 2as deleted from menu which was fine. However within 20 mins of eating I felt the world falling out of my bottom. Not good. That was the only meal I had had that day so defo the food. Will I return? NO

Appalling service. I went with my family and decided to ask for 2 Mojitos,a wine and a coke. I was served by a waitress, who said she would bring the cocktails to the table. A few minutes later she brings two tall glasses full of ice,and a dry lime? ( not sure if it was actually lime). I decided to try it, thinking that I miss the mint, the ice should be crushed ...etc. I couldn't drink it. Worst cocktail I have ever tried. Each cocktail costed 9.50 . Went back to the bar and explained that we couldn't drink them. She answered "how are your mojitos in other places?" ,quite passive aggressive. So I explained that for a start, the mint is part of the recipe...And she answers that she followed the recipe. On their menu ,the list of ingredients contain mint...which she clearly missed, ignored or forgot. Long story short, after some more passive aggressive comments ,I asked her to change the cocktails for 2 g&t and sat back. It's the second d time we go there, and every time, we find a rude waiter. Don't eat here! Food and service are terrible. Go to the fighting cocks if you want a drink and food, or any of the restaurants on Woodbridge Road. If in doubt check out their food hygiene rating - I only found this recently and wish I had known sooner. I have been here a few times for food, each time the food was not great but it catered for groups without booking so it was easy to meet our friends here. The food has been terrible the last 2 times and I will not eat here again. Food came out so salty it was not edible and l love salty food. The management apologised and said they had had to get new kitchen staff recently. The replacement meal of fish and chips (who can get this wrong was my thought) you couldn't get the knife or fork through the batter! We have since been again as I thought they may have gotten their act together with the new kitchen staff - nope! Undercooked food this time. Wait staff are always talking amongst themselves and once you have the food you can't get any service from them. Do yourself and a favour and eat anywhere else but here - a pot noodle would be better than this place

Lovely pub restaurant which let us bring in our dog to a quiet corner where he could settle. The kitchen also accommodated our dietary requirements (no lactose/dairy and pork). The food was really tasty and delivered hot and generously sized. Really warm and inviting atmosphere. Free parking for patrons if they input their reg in the bar area (don't make the mistake I made and pay for parking!!).

Great ambiance and place for drinks but awful service. We ordered and paid for food.. An hour later I went to check where it was, the server didn't even send our food to the kitchen... So our order wasn't even placed...

I’ve been to the Village a number of times and it’s always average but we choose it because it’s decent for families with nice open space. We went recently with 3 kids and have to say the service was terrible and food very average. Our drinks took about 15 minutes despite there only being two other tables taken in the whole restaurant. The kids menu is very limited so not helpful if you have a fussy eater. No kids pizza or sausages. . As there was nothing suitable we asked for an adults pepperoni pizza with none of the other toppings. Needless to say it turned up 30 minutes later with everything on (onions etc). My pizza had a hair on it, which I just removed because I couldn’t be bothered waiting another 30 minutes. The staff just seemed really uninterested and didn’t engage at all with the kids or try to make it an enjoyable experience. It’s very telling that the place was nearly empty at 6pm on a Saturday. Such a shame as it’s a great place for families and they could really cash in on this. Needless to say this was my last visit.

Dreadful service! Had a table at 745. Were given pudding menus at 9pm. Went to order after asking, at 915. Told kitchen was shut at 9! Manager then went and told us that she had to make the puddings as the chef had gone and still charged fully price. Really slow service and the waiting team hadn't got a clue. We had to ask for plates for starter and when we asked what was in the winter Coleslaw they hadn't got a clue and then charged £4 a portion. Live music and decor great

Came in yesterday for some food with the mrs, Sunday dinners are hit and miss most places but this was incredible, the meat was tender, the veg was hot and crispy (good way) and a big old yorkie on top. Service wise, Kelly was absolute gold, hilarious but professional at the same time, got us anything we asked for even when dealing with some absolute divs next to us. A real credit to the business without trying. Coming back soon thank you very much to the chefs and servers.

Our fave retreat! Been to the village moseley countless times! The food is just 👌🏼 the decor and ambience is always welcoming, relaxing and a feel good positive. It seems a little understaffed at times, but the staff that do work are faultless. Cant wait for our next visit!

Visited on a very quiet Tuesday evening. The waitress had to check the kitchen was still open at 6.30. Food was good but we were the only people eating so not a great atmosphere. Waitress was very friendly.

CHRISTMAS DINNER UPDATE: We went for Christmas dinner - £70 pp (plus a service was added onto the bill) and a rip off! After seeing a few foodie influencers recently posting about how good the roast is, we were looking forward to it. I’ve never rated The Village for food (had a terrible brunch and was meant to be contacted by management, but never was), but some of my family like it there, so we booked. Either the influencers are lying or their chefs can’t handle full service! The food… The bread served with the salmon starter was rock solid. There was no sign of the dill and mustard dressing. Those who had soup had to ask for spoons and the soup wasn’t served with bread & butter as you’d expect. The turkey turned my stomach when it was served. The bacon wrapped around it looked like it had barely left the fridge! As for the rest of the plate; diabolical. I’ve had nicer veg and potatoes from a cheap carvery. The potatoes were waxy and had no crispy whatsoever. They were so pale they too must have had the same treatment as the bacon. Not a sprout in sight and of the veg we were given, the portion was measly. The stuffing ball was unrecognisable for what it was and the size of a grape. The pig in blanket was about the same. There was also inconsistency with presentation with a few people having a bunch of red berries on their plate. The beef was bone dry. Everyone needed more gravy to make the food more palatable, but it was thin and lacked flavour so we didn’t even bother asking and most of us (11 of us) couldn’t enjoy the meal. Desserts were very small and the Eaton Mess cheesecake was very disappointing - barely any meringue. The menu states you’ll get hot drinks and mince pies at the end of the meal. We were brought some cheap dry mince pies, but no hot drinks. This was honestly the worst Christmas meal I’ve ever had in my life. And I paid over the odds for the displeasure! We had a last minute addition to our table so her meal (main only) was on the bill for just £16.96…how does an additional 2 courses cost £53 more?!? We had a few drinks in the bar afterwards and saw people who were eating later clearing their own plates! Unbelievable. The only redeemable part of the day was the young lad who was taking our drinks orders. He was only a teen, but his customer service was better than everyone else who we dealt with that day. He’s golden! Oh, forgot to add - their socials said they opened at 11, but we had to stand and wait outside until gone 11:30. I called from outside and was told they didn’t know they were supposed to be open at 11. You can’t make it up! Previous comments: It’s a big venue with plenty of seating and a nice ambience. The menu isn’t that exciting; there’s a distinct lack of salads and the dishes I’ve tried lacked flavour/seasoning. Better for drinks than dining.

Used to love coming here, but lately it seems to have been in a decline. I called all day for a reservation, nobody picked up. When i did it online and arrived with our group, for the second time in two months, we were not able to have pizza. 1st time the pizza oven was broken - the 2nd time they were out of pizza dough, on a weekday when there were only a handful of people in. And we were only told this after arriving to order. My advice is, if you want to be in the restaurant business, invest in some stocks - it's not like there are not any other pizza restaurants in Moseley for us to take our business next time. We also noticed that the portions in some desserts had shrunk noticeably while prices went up by about 30%

Such a lovely place to have dinner! Came down with our little chihuahua so a very doggy friendly which is also a massive bonus. Food was presented very well and very tasty. We visited the Village for breakfast with Santa with my little girl. Firstly there was no organisation, no one to greet us when we arrived, we sat at our table, no one came to take our order so we had to go to the bar several times. Breakfast took over an hour to come out, came out cold with items missing. They ran out of butter for the toast. I tried to talk to one staff member who couldn’t speak any English. It was utter chaos! Dirty tables everywhere. Santa was lovely but a mug of chocolates was a poor choice of gift for a 5 year old, any chance to promote the pub! What was meant to be a magical morning turned into a disaster! Spend your money elsewhere!

This place is brilliant. In general always got good drinks and atmosphere. Staff are incredible every time! The brunch is so good!!! Can’t believe more people don’t brunch here!!

Attended a very unorganised Santa breakfast this morning. A 40 minute wait for a cooked breakfast that was served stone cold. Different gifts for different children, with a clear difference in value (some children had a bauble, whereas some got a lovely cuddly toy) A morning that should have been magical, was anything but. One stand out member of staff in Abbie who tried to make amends, but it was out of her control. Response from management team was the team are training. They perhaps need to show the chefs how to turn on the oven to heat the food. That would be a good start.

i love this place on a week day but the sunday menu is lacking and food was freezing

Attended a Brunch here on a Saturday afternoon. Expectations weren't very high as I'm not big on a Bottomless brunce as I usually find the food as sub par. How I was so wrong this time! For a brunch the food was unbelievably tasty and the steak option (with no hidden additional charge) was great. The staff were excellent and the drinks were free flowing. Hands down the best Bottomless brunch I've attended in Brum! Definitely recommend that you guys market this option some more as you should have ques out the door.

Sunday lunch is always excellent and lovely surroundings. My one issue is the one member of staff who quite frankly can be quite rude unfortunately. The older gentleman needs some customer service skills and made us feel uncomfortable by rushing us

Service was exceptional and the cocktails were something else. Recommend highly, not only for food and service…but also the free parking and the staff alone. 5⭐️'s all round. We had a delightful afternoon tea at the village for a 40 year reunion. We were set up in a corner area that allowed us to have privacy but still have the atmosphere of the pub. The table was set with a glorious spread with vegan options. The staff were very attentive and a great time was had by all. Well done ! Thank you to Marta for making the organising so easy x

Lovely venue. Free parking at the front and rear for about 25 cars. You must enter your vehicle reg at the bar area digital screen for this to be free. Draught beets around £4.50, town prices are £6.50 so great deals here. A huge restaurant area, well lit, plenty of tables for couples, groups, and larger families. Kid friendly. Disabled access at rear with a disabled toilet on the ground floor. The food adequately priced. I had a Mediterranean Pizza for £13.00. I was hesitant, though it was freshly cooked and tasted amazing. Give this a go. It's definitely one of the nicest and more upmarket venues in Moseley.
