Waiting over hours for dinner, fair enough it was busy but the issue is they don’t have enough staff on. Stop cost cutting and get more staff this is unacceptable, I’ve eaten here the last 5 night as it’s convenient after work. It’s always the same short staffed

Apart from the parking - it turned out there was a match on that day which we didn't know about until the last minute - everything went really, really well. It was quiet in the restaurant when we went, and so, although we'd booked a table, we were able to choose an even better spot. Obviously the view is the selling point for this restaurant and it certainly is lovely, even on a dull day. We were a bit worried about the vegetarian options because there didn't seem a great choice on the menu, but we were told nut roast was available and it was cooked very well indeed; not too dry as it can be in some eateries and a nice gravy with it. Roast potatoes and side vegetables all done perfectly, and for the meat eaters the beef looked tender and the fish dishes good too. A decent selection of puddings and starters. The waitress who looked after us (sorry I didn't get her name) was lovely. I only have one niggle and that is about the directions on the website. It was actually quite difficult to find, via Google, so we had to go around and enter by John Lloyd and access the restaurant that way. But thank you, The View, we had a great time.

When we arrived at the bar, it was empty apart from two bar staff, who preferred to carry on their conversation rather than asking us what we would like to drink. There was a terrible smell of rotten eggs and when I asked about it, was told that it was the drains, although we were on the 8th floor! We sat down but found the smell too much and asked to go to the dining room next door. We had no help with our drinks and coats, and even though this was 8 o’clock on a Friday evening, the restaurant was nearly empty. Despite this we were told that they had only one Crab Tortellini starter left! When ordering the mains it was unclear what vegetables, if any, came with the dishes and on asking, we were told that you had to order the veg separately. We were therefore surprised that my wife’s Halibut came on mashed potatoes when we had already ordered Fries to go with it! The food was rather basic pub food albeit with much higher prices! The wine was good but at £40 for a bottle not cheap. We couldn’t find a dessert that we actually wanted, so just ordered coffees. Even this they managed to mess up… Coffees were brought without any sugar but when I managed to get the waiter’s attention (not easy even in a nearly empty restaurant) he said he would get some. He then disappeared and we never saw him again. While we were “enjoying” our by now cold coffees, a female waitress arrived with a card payment machine and asked if we would like to pay… when I pointed out that we hadn’t even received a bill yet, she exclaimed “lovely” and then also disappeared! Not their fault but we couldn’t even enjoy the view as it was dark outside!

Food was OK but didn't live up to the price tag. Restaurant was very quiet (3-5 tables), however the service was so slow! Had to wait a long time for everything - table water, drinks, starter (just bread), mains etc... My wife's main came out before mine, had to wait a while for mine to follow. No-one checked if everything was OK and no attention was given to ensure we had a good time. The kitchen was open to the restaurant, the kitchen staff really need to watch their language. Very unprofessional, not the impression the restaurant is trying to give.

As others have said the view from the restaurant is the highlight. The food (hake fillet) was a little bland in my view. This is disappointing given the prices charged, I am sure there are better restaurants within a short drive away.

Great views, but thats about it. Was served by a relatively new and shy waiter (not his fault, everyone has to start some where) which meant I never fed back any information as he never asked how our starters/mains were etc. The food is very very over priced for what it is. Dont waste your money. Paid £28 for one main which was a piece of Crispy monkfish with some asparagus. Nothing else. I'm not sure how this constitutes as a main course. Very dry and blande to note. £39 for a sirlion steak and chips with a peppercorn sauce. Mushrooms looked like boiled tin mushrooms, sauce tasteless and steak came Very rare when medium rare ordered. Starters were very average. £13 for 3 pieces of crab tortillini which were almost certainly frozen before cooking. Overall, as it was a special occasion I didnt feel like going out of my way to complain but almost certainly would have if any of the staff members asked how my meal was. £115 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 3 drinks overall. Absolute waste of money

Nothing special really. Everything we tried missing flavour. Veg was just warm. I won’t eat there again. Has to be something better close by and I’ll find it tomorrow. Agricultural Inn in Brampford Speke was amazing last night, so must be others around like that.

It really is a fantastic restaurant on the 8th floor overlooking the East Devon countryside The menu has recently been updated and improved and we were spoilt for choice. In addition there were two special fish dishes one of which was John Dory which I had and have to say it was perfect Staff very attentive and friendly We started with a couple of lovely appetisers given as free-extras which was a really nice touch, starters were excellent as were the main courses, unfortunately no room for dessert I think this will quickly grow into a must visit restaurant, excellent

I stayed at the hotel on a work trip for one night and ate at The View. There was, to all intents and purposes, no seafood available at all - but not sure you can call that the restaurant’s fault. So I had a steak, very tasty and perfectly cooked. The service was extremely good - fast, friendly and helpful. And the view really is very nice! I’d certainly go back if I’m down that’s at again.

Unfortunately although the setting & location were fantastic, the service really let the place down. The restaurant was fairly quiet for a Friday evening but the service was very slow, 15 minutes for someone to take our drinks order and unfortunately the plates from our first course were not removed, meaning we sat with these in front of us during our main. The staff were more concerned with setting up for breakfast for the next day than clearing our plates or giving us the bill. When I ordered my main course, the monkfish, I was told the waiter would find out if there was any left and would it be okay to substitute for cod, I agreed and he said he would let me know which one I would be having, unfortunately he did not. The duck main course was beautiful but unfortunately the fish (unsure if cod or monkfish) was over cooked and therefore a little dry. A real shame considering the price tag of the place, which would definitely be worthwhile if the service were to be improved.

As we arrived a few minutes late for the first time ever, we could see a nice looking restaurant and further on a large open bar with a pianist playing. We were greeted and told that our table was just about to be made up & that we might like to have a drink in the bar while we waited. Twenty minutes later & not having heard if our table was ready yet, we walked back to the restaurant & were seated without any mention of the delay to seat us. Once seated we were given menus to peruse whiles our drinks order was taken. One drink quickly was quickly brought to the table but a bottle of wine was nowhere to be seen. After 5 minutes of waiting I asked the waitress what had happened about our bottle of wine to be told that she was trying to find the manager to get the drink store key (obviously didn't think to ring him). Another 5 minutes passed before the wine was brought to our table. A question about an item on the menu was answered with, "I don't know, it's a new menu which I haven't learnt yet". Food orders place, we sat admiring the view out over the east Devon countryside. We enjoyed the starters which didn't seem to take too long to be served (they were cold dishes), & after the dishes were cleared we awaited the main courses to be brought out. Two out of the three came together but the third took a while to follow so the other two of us waited to start ours. Eventually the third meal did arrive but I was still waiting for my peppercorn sauce for my steak. When I asked the waitress about this she went to the kitchen & returned to advise that it was just being prepared (at least 10 minutes after my meal was served). Shock, Horror, my steak ordered as 'rare' was 'well done'! Another complaint & my meal was taken away with another long wait following. By the time my correct meal was brought out, my two companions had almost finished their meals - very disappointing. By the time I had finished my meal it was gone 10 o'clock and service was finished, so no chance of a dessert and the other dinners had left the restaurant. We asked for the 'bill' which came across very quickly, the quickest think to have happened during our visit. It was immediately notice that a Discretionary Service Charge had automatically been added which we immediately questioned the waitress about. Quickly a more senior waitress took over and said that she would remove this charge & would also remove the cost of my steak form our 'bill'. Though out the evening, apologies seemed to trip off the tongue of the staff as if it were second nature but never seemed to sound sincere. Overall, poor & slow service even though the restaurant wasn't especially busy with over priced food. I've paid less for better in a more typical pub. Would I recommend, NO. This restaurant could be so much better if it had better leadership who knew what was going on.

We stayed at the hotel en route to Cornwall. Decided to eat in the roof top restaurant and we were not disappointed. I started with the Mozzarella which was delicious served with heritage tomatoes, my husband had the twisted prawn cocktail which he enjoyed very much too. For my main course I have the slow cooked belly of pork which was amazing, very tender with some nice crackling and accompanied by fresh aldante vegetables and sauce, husband had 10oz rumps with an apple and brandy sauce, and again found it to be delicious. For dessert I had some ice cream which was really creamy husband had cheese and biscuits. Food excellent staf very pleasant and attentive, would certainly visit again.
