The View at Seaford Head in Lewes

Visited on 1st March for lunch. Didn’t stay after seeing they were now charging an eye watering £12.95 for a toasted sandwich with crisps & salad garnish. Only a very small choice of filling too. No real alternative as we didn’t want a cooked meal. Might return if they reconsider the prices and the choice of fillings.

Been going there for year, both when hiking and playing golf. Went today and no more roll, sandwiches or smaller options just full meals. Walk out and went into town instead. In addition, as a golfer I would very rarely want to eat a meal before or after golf. Unless it was a breakfast.

The website is out of date regarding Sunday Lunches. Brought 2 friends to celebrate a birthday. Elderly, living alone so all looking forward to a lovely roast dinner as in the past. Really shocked it was the very limited lunch menu. One of us chose sausage and mash but not this available Ended up with chicken burger, chicken wings and fish and chips. All over cooked. Extremely expensive for basic greasy grub. Deserts and coffees ok and very pleasant waitress. Unless this is sorted I think custom will be lost.

Not impressed Arrived at 11.30 lunch menu started at 12 by 12.30 no fish fingers left, asked for beans on toast for a child, was told that was only on the breakfast menu so not available, asked for a pot of fruit tea that was advertised on the bar, was only given a cup. Rubbish customer service!

I booked the afternoon tea and was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and helpful and had put in a lot of effort. The table was laid with a cloth and teacups and looked lovely and welcoming. We were asked about any preferences, allergies etc. The tea was served in a teapot and replaced whenever we wished. The sandwiches (Salmon, Tuna, Cheese, Ham) were delicious and served with salad. There were hot scones and homemade sausage rolls too. There were many varieties of cakes with strawberries, Raspberries & Redcurrants in between. The whole experience was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I came to the view with my family as it was recommended by many of my friends who come here regularly. As soon as i walked in me and my family were welcomed in by a blonde young lady who’s name was Caris/Cary’s (Not sure on the spelling) And a lovely lady called Candice. As busy as it was they gave us an option on two tables and we had a lovely view of the sea. The younger blonde waitress was very approachable and when my son who is younger felt nervous on asking where the toilets where she took him round and showed him. So very kind ! The food was so delicious and piping hot which you always love in a restaurant! And looked very delicious plated ! The lunch menu had lots of variety and many specials on too! Overall such a great experience and such friendly staff. Couldn’t give enough gratitude towards the staff.. especially the two who served us 😁

This really is an excellent location but the food choice is woeful as is the quality. Think 1970s cafe! A real pity as it could be so much better. I guess the place is run by the council as I cannot imagine a private business would make such a mess of it. You cannot even get a simple sandwich.

We went with the family for a Sunday roast. Table booked for 1.30pm - meal took an hour and a half to arrive. Two sirloun steaks were served without steak knives - when I asked for them I was told 'don't think we've got any'. But even when they were brought my granddaughter still could not cut the charcoal coloured steak - she had requested 'medium'. I called the waitress over who picked up the plate, took it out to the kitchen and brought it back saying 'it's well done'. It wasn't eaten. Our roast lamb was too tough to eat in certain slices which made me feel they were microwaved to heat them up. Too cap it all I was overcharged £48 as another tables order was stuck on our bill, including a £30 deposit. A terrible experience all round! What a shame given the lovely venue.

We enjoyed our Morning coffee and a tea cake each here. We had walked up from the town (not far), but it was a rather grey, drizzly morning.. and so were very glad to stop in here. The prices proved to be ok and it was a relaxed hour.. to enjoy the food and the view.. Thank You. 🙏.

Visted The View on Sunday 5th Feb for breakfast and saw an advertisement for Kids eat free 2.30 to 4.30 so on Tuesday we decided to take our 2 Grandchildren up after school for a treat. I walk them from thier school up to The View which was some 15 minutes walk away. We got there at 3.40 and went the bar to order, I was greater with a young man who said to me the kitchen was about to closed, when I mention the kids eat free til 4.30 he said he'd seen what was available, my wife then arrived at 3.55 and asked to add to the order to be told the kitchen was closed from 4 when she said its 5 too he said its still closed and carried on serving someone else, she asked him if she was annoying him as he was acting as if she had, the manager came out who was lovely and found something for her to eat. The young man's attitude was rude and dismissive and not based around my partners needs as a customer, maybe some further training in customer service would be helpful. Also if the kitchen does clise at 4pm maybe kids eat free should not be until 4.30. Again the manager was lovely.

We had our annual dinner dance here on sat 28th January, absolutely fantastic setting. Easy contact with the manager all the way through, fantastic food , the staff on duty that day were wonderful nothing was too much trouble for them. Very quick and efficient delivery of food onto the tables , Would definitely return.

We have had our annual Prize Giving at a number of venues but have finally found a venue that we will return to again. The food and service were excellent and Mark the Manager was very accommodating with our requests. All of the feedback that I have had from attendees has been positive and even with 70 guests, the food came out swiftly and well presented. Commodore NSSC

We arranged a private afternoon tea party for 50 people for my mother's 80th birthday. We cannot praise the staff and the service enough. Everybody gave compliments about the food and staff were on hand to keep the cups topped up with tea or coffee. Tables were laid beautifully with retro tea service. Service from our first meeting to the event was excellent.

Had a lovely Sunday roast today , best one Iv had in a long time , nice fresh veg , parsnips and not so much gravy to rewen the dinner , I asked for more gravy from the lovely young girl who served are table and was very well looked After by her and the team , They come and checked go see if are dinner was ok and also are deserts , had a lovely home made treacle tart with custard , very well presented on the plate .

Friends visiting so decided to have breakfast out. Great breakfast/brunch menu. Good service and a fair price. Lovely views over the bay and 18th hole of the golf course. Will return!

We recently held our business awards dinner at The View, it was a fantastic evening. The manager Mark and his team were very helpful throughout and made the evening an event to remember. We had a 3 course dinner which was beautifully presented, hot and quite delicious. The venue is great, the location and views are amazing.

100 people came to the 1st ever Bonfire Society Dinner Dance - It was AMAZING.The View team were absolutely excellent. From the initial enquiry through to the final delivery the Event was perfect in every way. The organisation was efficient, the menu adapted to cater for dietary requirements and the additions we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble. On the night the team were amazing, helping us set up and tidy away at the end of the night. The food was just fantastic, it came out quickly and hot, and the service was great. Cannot credit the chefs enough - just excellent! The bar staff worked their socks off and kept smiling. All in all the best night ever and the feedback has been amazing from all the members of the Society. We will be booking again for next year! This is now going to be an annual Event - So thank you to the team the View - You made our night very special.

An excellent event in a separate room that suited our party of about 40 people ideally. The team really cared about ensuring everything went smoothly and went out of their way with extra touches. The food and service were good. As the weather was lousy that day I can't comment on the great views! Certainly somewhere we would look to use again.

We visited on saturday afternoon and had lunch after a long journey. The chips were rock solid and the beefburger charred. My fish was passable but only just. This was our second visit for lunch. I had hoped the 1st visit was a one off as the food was poor then but thus time far worse! There won't be a third visit. We were in a rush so no timeto get another meal. We paid before eating. Big mistake!

We came here for a birthday meal and we really enjoyed it. This restaurant is in a beautiful setting on the lower slopes of Seaford Head with a beautiful view over Seaford and Newhaven and the sea. The food is delicious with a good choice of different dishes on the menu. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they are very good with children too, there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere to the place.

took my dad here for a meal, yes it has great views, pity the food does not live up to the view, the meals were ok , but did expect better for the price. there are better places to eat in seaford.

We booked a family meal for 10 including 2 children and one with dietary issues... the staff were friendly the meals were fantastic, very good value for money and all out at the same time. We had requests regarding weighing food for carbs due to a diabetic and even that was no problem. Thoroughly recommend and will visit again.

We had our wedding reception venue here at the end of August 2019. All our meetings with Rebecca were great and we were looking forward to the day. Rebecca recommended us to cater for 10 less people than invited at our buffet because there would be ample food but we decided we wanted to cater for the 10 people so there would be more than enough food. We're glad we did! Even with that there still wasn't enough food to eat! Myself and my husband didn't eat much so that there would be more for our guests. Five of our guests didn't eat as one left early and there was an emergency at home for others.We had one guest who was gluten intolerant and they had said their gluten free food was dry.The food that I did try was lovely, unfortunately I didn't try everything as it had just about gone by the time I got there.We did email about the quantity of food but was told that enough was put out. We saw Rebecca and expressed our disappointment and she was going to speak to the chef once he returned from his holiday but we heard no more.Also on arrival, the outside area that we were told would be for our guests use and reserve signs would be placed hadn't had this done and there were golfers seated there. I had to speak to the staff to which they informed me that they had not been told this but were quick to clear the area and add the reserve signs.

My wife and I have used the View at Seaford Head from shortly after it opened.We have always found the food and staff to be really good.We have had Sunday Lunches,Meals during the week,and just a Sandwich and Coffee.The views are great and it's a very pleasant place to enjoy a drink or a meal.

This year we (Glynde and Beddingham Cricket Club) chose to hold our Annual Awards Dinner and Dance at The View and the evening could not have been better. The food was excellent and the staff were so friendly, working very hard from start to finish. We had 64 guests and the venue was perfect for our event, great layout for the sit down meal and then a very quick clear away of two tables to create a dance floor - which no one noticed as they were too busy enjoying the bar!Being able to go out on the balcony was lovely too, even at night seeing the twinkling lights out at sea was great - would love to come again in the summer!

We were very pleased from the first meeting with Rebecca to organise the party to the evening event. The Venue was excellent with plenty of parking. The venue was all set up when we arrived. The bar staff were very helpful and friendly which helped make it a memorable occasion. The food which was supplied was excellent and as requested. We would definitely recommend this venue to friends and family.

Have eaten here a number of times. Breakfasts are very good, as are Sunday roasts. Good beer and smiley service, plus the option to sit outside and view the 18th hole.

I live locally and always though that the View was a place to support. Yesterday I phoned to check if it was possible to eat at the restaurant with my family (6 people in total). The waitress said that bookings were no longer possible but walk-in visits were welcome. We arrived at the View just after 1pm. The waitresses said that there was a table available at the back and we sat there. I noticed that our table was the only one with no tablecloth. The waitress put on cutlery only and a paper napkin for us. As I sat I noticed that the table was sticky and dirty. I asked the waitresses if it was possible to have a tablecloth as anyone else. They said that tablecloths were only for customers who booked in advance because then they had no time to set up a table with a tablecloth. I was surprised and asked if they had no time for a tablecloth? One of the waitress said that she would look for it but then the senior waitress made a face to her to say not to do that...so we sat with no tablecloth, as second class customers. I went to the counter to order our drinks and I had to bring them to the table all by myself. No effort was made to help me in spite of the fact that there were four staff member behind the counter who didn't look busy in that moment. They brought greasy paper menus to us. I had to ask for a child menu even though they saw that there was a child with us. The food came quickly and it was of average quality. We were served all together so that nobody waited. However, none of he staff came once to check if everything was fine. I went to the counter to get the bill and pay. The senior waitress completely ignored me and kept on serving other gentlemen at the bar with no the least sign of acknowledgement. At the end, one of the younger waitress came at the counter. The bill was 74£, a bit pricy for what we had. Honestly, if it was not that my family was hungry and wanted to have a bite, I would have left at the very beginning. I visited he View in other occasions for lunch and drinks and the service was never oustanding. However, this time was disgraceful. I will never go to the View again!

With not so many restaurants open in Seaford for dinner, and those that are lacking a view, this restaurant lives up to its name enabling diners to sit inside or on the patio with a wonderful view over the golf course and away from the streets of the town. A varied menu with several specials, the service was prompt and food of good quality.

Great venue - well prepared in advance, views beautiful, able to access outside terrace, grass area as well as indoor with informal tables. All staff very helpful and available - especially the events Manager, Rebecca, who was particularly good with forward planning, ideas, etc. Food and drinks excellent and very good feedback on all aspects from guests to host. Would recommend this venue whole-heartedly.

There are some pretty ordinary pubs in Seaford, so The View is almost out of local character , more the sort of place you would expect to find on the Brighton Marina. It is basically the refurbished clubhouse of the local golf-club, and very well done too, with fine views over the 18th green to the ocean beyond.

Had my baby shower. Customer service was good and venue was the perfect spot will definitely recommend to have a function there. Staff worked hard with a smile great support from management and staff. The food was a cold buffet and it’s was lovely all my guests loved it And a huge thank you to the chef who went out his way to cater for dietary needs . Amazing Thanks you.

I held my mum's surprise 70th at the venue, and it was great. Rebecca was fab at supporting at the booking stage and was really responsive to any of my questions. We had an afternoon tea buffet and the food was fab, so much cake! Great views of Seaford head and great friendly staff. I certainly recommend.

Ate here with friends around 2 weeks ago. Food ok but staff were quite abrupt and rude. The lady who served out table took drinks away before finished and didn't even ask if we'd like dessert. Everything seemed quite an effort and the waitress couldn't crack a smile,my mother in law also noticed the coldness and rudeness of this lady, didn't note a name but she had glasses on.

Having had one business meeting in December I returned this week as a good venue for such things. However the food was diabolical.

About 30 of us went, great service and great food. Really good xmas menu, the food was delicious! Organising the party was really easy as there was clear communication with venue. Friendly staff. Would definitely come back here for Christmas 2019!

This is a gorgeous restaurant, with amazing views, the food is amazing and some of the staff are lovely. However the lady who is about 20/23 (female, glasses) is extremely rude! She ruined the atmosphere that the other staff have created. I found her obnoxious, blunt, uninviting and rather judgemental.

Business light lunch, all of had panini’s. We all thought they were nice enough, they tasted fine. Accompanying chips though were strongly tasting of oil. Really you go here for the amazing views and easy free parking

This restaurant is attached to Seaford Head Golf Course so you can have your meal whilst looking out onto the golf course and to Seaford Bay. Great location. Food was good and staff excellent when I went with a party of 15.

Me and my colleagues came here last Friday and had a Christmas dinner. We had a great time. Great service,great food. Definitely come here again.

We went as a large group of 40 for one of The View's Christmas Party Nights. The food was excellent, hot, tasty and plentiful. The disco was very good and everyone agreed it was an excellent night of wining, dining and dancing. Thank you to The View.

The function room was a good size for our gathering of 33 people and the tables set up with clothes made for easy eating with the fork buffet. We had beef and veggie lasagne and chicken tikka, both of which everyone enjoyed. It was piping hot and portions were generous. There were various yummy salads and cold meats (beef, turkey and gammon) available too. A table set up with tea and coffee meant everyone could help themselves as and when they wanted one. Rebecca was very helpful in the planning stages and we met up a couple of time so she could advise and help me decide on the finer details. On the day staff were helpful and attentive throughout the afternoon when we needed something. Everything was clean and well presented. There is nothing negative I could say about The View and would highly recommend it as a venue. Thank you!

A spectacular venue to celebrate my special Birthday with 80 of my wonderful Family & Friends. An amazing sunset across the bay set the scene. The View provided some delicious food, which was followed by an amazing Firework Display - a complete surprise & expertly delivered by Frontier Fireworks.

This restaurant is not too far from home and have been meaning to give it a try for some time and finally got around to it (9/9). It was the best Sunday roast I have had for a long time, beef was very tender and the vegetables and roast potatoes were perfectly cooked. Starter and pudding was lovely too and we were all very impressed with the venue, the location and the service was really good. Will definitely be going back.

This has a fabulous setting, the architect could have made better use of the space. The meeting room sectioned off from the bar by a sliding screen door was noisy and it was hard to hear the speakers. The breakfast was adequate and reasonably well cooked.

It should be excellent because the setting is fabulous and the menu looks really good. However, I have eaten there twice recently and both times my partner and I just had a sandwich. The choice of fillings and the taste of the fillings IS excellent, but the bread (both white and brown sliced) is woefully poor! Looks like and tastes like Mother’s Pride! The bread on my sandwich, gammon ham and mustard, was dry and looked and tasted as if it had been made earlier in the morning. A real pity, especially as Seaford has at least 1 excellent bakers that could supply truly superb bread.

Recently had lunch there which was better than average but could have been better, it was at a local group annual get together our main issue was the starters but everything else was ok

We had a lovely tea party for 8 of us, the food was great, scones, cream & jam, plus yummy cakes and a good variety of sandwiches. Highly recommended.

The Veiw went above and Beyond to help with our special day. Craig, Rebecca and the rest of the staff team did everything to help, they catered to my allergies, vegetarian and vegan with thier food and literally did everything they could to assist us. I have nothing but praise for them. They helped with reserving parking for elderly relatives,they handled every last minute request with ease and even set up our decorations!! They took all the worry away from me and my husband on our special day! To Craig, Rebecca and the rest of the staff, if you or your staff read this THANK YOU SO MUCH! Mr and Mrs Owen-Sole

A Ladies' event in the function room with a sandwich and fruit salad lunch. Staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Diets catered for and food fresh and plentiful. Free parking with lots of turning space and a wonderful view. You won't be disappointed!

Had lunch. Kitchen coped well, as there was a large wedding group eating in another room. Food and service were very good. Plenty of parking.

There was offered a good range of menu choices, and certainly good service and tasty : but for us the downside was ... a lot of golf going on in the background ~ prize-givings etc. So, not as positive for the non-golfer as similar venues that we've been to

Chose this venue as wanted to surprise my wife with family meal for her 70th birthday. I began looking for suitable venues in the area months ago and, quite honestly there was nothing else around that would tick all the boxes for a great function. This restaurant had a good reputation, by word of mouth, for good food and service. The building is modern with good facilities and fantastic views of Seaford Head and surrounding area. This venue had all the attributes for our perfect day.

Me and my boyfriend had roast on Sunday at the View. Worst piece of meat we’ve ever had. The service was good and everyone very friendly but the meat was tough to cut and the potatoes were as dry as polystyrene! We won’t be going back here again!!

Don't order the mixed grill it will leave your taste buds confused, the chicken is like rubber, steak tastes like vinegar, bacon looked like it was left over from breakfast. Disappointing considering the food used to be good. I won't be returning for food!

I booked The View to hold a party of 40-50 people for my sisters hen do and it was perfect! From the moment I first contacted the venue to enquire I was met with excellent service. For all the planning I dealt with Rebecca who was always really prompt at returning my emails and calls, and was extremely helpful and always made herself very approachable. Nothing was too much. On the day the bar staff were brilliant at making sure all our needs were met and were really friendly, Amanda in particular was helpful when we were setting up the party and some party games. We had a delicious 2 course meal which everyone really enjoyed and I received comments from guests weeks later saying how great the food was and that the venue was perfect. I initially thought it was quite expensive when I enquired but once I had found out more information it was actually excellent value for money. From start to finish the service from every single member of staff was brilliant. Thank you all so much for all your input to making the hen party run so smoothly, as a perfectionist myself I really appreciate such service.

Birthday lunch - 12 people - excellent Sunday lunch - great service, great food. The roast beef was very good and cooked to our taste and the two vegans among us were well catered for with a very good vegetarian meal. Really, pretty faultless and looking out over the golf course was a bonus - what a location. A total Success. The View surprised me again ! what a wonderful surprise too. I had booked the View to host a Gala Dinner for and on behalf of the National Coastwatch at Newhaven for 56 people. I am a member of Newhaven NCI. Rebecca and Craig have had to put up with me emailing to confirm the most simple details and they have been nothing but helpful and understanding throughout the whole process. My sincere thanks go to them all at the View. The room looked amazing. The meal was wonderful, delicious and hot and beautifully presented. I cannot thank them enough for making the night a great success..

A total success, the staff were very calm and helpful. The food and drinks all fresh and plenty to go round. We had beautiful weather and had the benefit of using the grounds for fabulous family photos and the amazing view! Many of the 40 guests commented on the excellent organisation and facilities offered at "The View" Thank you.

We held a Charity event at The View, its a fabulous location and the facilities are first class and spotlessly clean. The Management organised the event superbly and were quick to respond to any queries. The bar staff on the night were super friendly, efficient and professional.

My father lived near to the View and had suggested it as a possible venue for his wake after his passing. This happened recently and following his wishes we visited events management. They were helpful and within an hour we had agreed the buffet, the timings and space to be allocated.

I came upto the View, with my family, for a Sunday Roast dinner and everything was lovely. Tasty beef and all the trimmings. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning to the View again soon. Janet Clements, Eastbourne

Came into the venue after a game of golf and it's safe to say the food was better than my golfing skills. I would recommend the food here. And some golfing lessons.
