Where to begin! Pelhams Team made our wedding day perfect from start to finnish! We couldn't have done it without you! The way you constantly kept us up to date and even ensured we were happy during the day too and everything was just perfect! Our guests even to this day say how much they loved it and how beautiful it was! Thank you! 😊

I married at pelham house on 2014 ,It's was the best of the best place ,team decorations ,dinner was perfect exactly what we ordered and the room was beautiful,we took many pictures on back garde ,this year we are planing to celebrate our 10years anniversary 🤞😘

The experience we had at Pelham House truly helped make our day so special. At every single turn, they not only wowed us, but they consistently went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. The venue itself is outstandingly gorgeous and the Christmas decorations turned it into a true winter Wonderland. The food, whether it was the wedding breakfast, canapés or evening pizza, was truly gourmet and all our guests absolutely raved about it. Finally, the service we received was impeccable. They doted upon us throughout the day and even when we had a small hiccup with a couple guests not turning up, they immediately sprung into action to combine a table to ensure it all looked perfect. We cannot stress just how great Pelham is and would absolutely recommend anyone to have their wedding there.

I photographed a wedding here in late 2022. It's a gorgeous venue, tastefully refurbished to be modern but to withhold it's 1920s charm. Big enough for all your guests but not so big that they all spread out and disappear! It's light and airy so perfect for photos. Lovely food and great staff!

We had our dream wedding at Pelham House, it was everything we could have hoped for and more, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to Dani & the team for an incredible day! For nearly 3 years (yes, a long time) Dani helped us with the planning of our wedding, she and the rest of the team are super responsive and friendly, we never had to chase them up. We absolutely fell in love with Pelham from the moment we first visited, we knew it was the venue for us. It is stunning inside and in a beautiful historic location. Everything is catered for in house, from the food to the drinks, coordination to accommodation, on top of this they are exclusively a wedding venue. No other venue in Sussex could offer this. All of our guests complimented the wedding, even saying it was the best they'd been too which was a HUGE compliment and reflection of Pelham House. The food was outstanding - that was the biggest feedback we had. They catered so well for all of the dietary requirements, our vegetarian guests were so happy with their meals. The wood fired pizzas also went down a treat in the evening! From start to finish it was the best day of our lives, we didn't want it to end. Pelham House will always have a very special place in our hearts. I cannot say enough that if you want the most incredible wedding day, Pelham House is your venue! Angel & Tom x x x

Visited for a friend's wedding, didn't have a room booked or stay the night at all but the venue was beautiful, clean, well equipped. The staff were friendly and many went out of their way to help us and several other guests, for various different reasons. Overall, a pleasant experience.

From the moment we first visited Pelham House, we fell in love with the venue. In the lead up to the wedding they were happy to answer any questions we had and were flexible with requests (allowing us to have an afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast). The day went smoothly with no hiccups. India (our wedding organiser) was amazing, she made sure everyone was in the right place at the right time and put us both at ease throughout. So many guests commented on how beautiful the venue was and how perfect the day was. We were lucky enough to get married on a sunny day and make use of the amazing gardens for our ceremony. All of the staff at Pelham house were very friendly and accommodating. We had the best day in the most amazing venue. We cannot recommend Pelham House enough.

The absolute best venue. We knew when we were looking for a venue we wanted to be able to get ready there and also stay with friends and family. We originally thought we wanted a barn until we saw Pelham house. The goring room for me was the most beautiful room. The grounds were perfect and well maintained and even in bad weather it still managed to look perfect. Our wedding day was 7 weeks ago and regardless of a few hiccups which noone even knew about, Danielle and her team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The day was everything we imagined! We booked 2 years in advance and we constantly went to open days just to revisit as we adored the venue so much! we don't have a bad word to say, it really was the most perfect day thanks to Danielle and her team. Couldn't recommend Pelham more!! Food was incredible Rooms were fab & everyone who stayed was very pleased Drinks gin bar especially was enjoyed! Pelham house itself is just stunning!!

Lovely Day for a beautiful wedding

Wow what a venue. Staff were amazing, helpful and so very attentive. The food was just out of this world. The room we stayed in was clean and the beds were comfortable. Highly recommended

Beautiful venue, However no personal touches at all. Would be nice if they used local suppliers for their wines, seeing as we have many vineyards in the surrounding areas. Customer service was non existent the management team were not helpful at all! Some of our guests had no towels in their rooms, Serviettes were not supplied for the eating of cake or pizza. A list of intolerances was requested for the wedding cake and were not displayed!

My wife and I were married at Pelham House last month in a beautiful ceremony. The building, interiors and grounds are all stunning and made the perfect backdrop to our day. The food and drink was exceptional and well received by all our guests, with accommodations for lots of different allergies and dietary requirements. I’m really gutted that in the whirlwind of the day I forgot to get her name, however my wife and I wanted to give a particular mention to one of the waitresses who went above and beyond to make our day special. In the evening when I had a funny turn, she came and found my wife and I and offered us drinks which she brought to us, and suggested a song for us to give the DJ as our last song of the night. We both really appreciated this personal touch. I had other comments from family members that the same waitress had been fantastic with them too. Sadly I do have to note one small downside which in my eyes was the organisation of the day, more specifically the more nitty gritty details, such as the coordination of my wife and I walking down the aisle separately, and after our speeches when there were no staff around to advise what was happening next or to direct our guests to the garden room for the evening turnaround (which made for a bit of awkwardness in the room😅). I did find myself having to ask a lot of questions prior to and on the day, about things I thought I should probably already have been communicated to about, simply because I felt a little in the dark. Another downside would be the accessibility issues. I understand it is an old and protected venue, however we were misled about the ease of wheelchair access to the full venue when we were first shown around. To be honest, this would have been a dealbreaker as a very close family member of mine is in a wheelchair and it was important to me that she had no stress on the day. With that aside, the day was wonderful and our guests had a great time. Beyond breathtaking venue and grounds, outstanding food/drink and excellent service from the wait and bar staff.

Beautiful property. We visited for a wedding. From the back garden you feel like you're in the middle of the countryside, it's a very peaceful setting. Wheelchair users are limited to the top level of the garden - there is no slope to the lower level - which Is frustrating as the ground look stunning. Staff need to be consulted to bring a ramp for wheelchair access/egress to some rooms on the ground floor. Outstanding food and service. Some limitations for mobility impaired and parking is at the railway station close by.

Very expensive, signal is bad and closest parking is train station… but overall we visited for a wedding venue and it was very pleasant time and really enjoyed it. You can tell the staff was very friendly and was so welcoming and hardworking! Rooms were clean, decently sized and comfortable.

We had our wedding here in August. India was our wedding planner, I couldn't recommend her more, she was so kind, helpful and nothing was too much of an ask. We loved working with her and she was brilliant to work with on the day and the time leading up to the wedding. Pelham house is stunning and we had the most incredible day. All of our guests loved the atmosphere, food and loved being able to stay at Pelham too. We had our ceremony outside, and it started to rain just as we were about to start, Pelham provided umbrellas and it ended up being imperfectly perfect and the we all had a laugh! Every single staff member was so kind, jubilant and professional and we are so grateful for their help in making it the perfect day. We would recommend anyone wanting a beautiful venue with amazing staff, wedding planners, food and accomodation to book Pelham!

Pelham house was our perfect wedding venue, we honestly couldn’t have asked for more. The venue is absolutely stunning, we loved the decor and location. From the bridal suite, outside ceremony, the Blencowe room and most importantly the bar, all were absolutely perfect and exactly what we envisioned. As well as the hotel rooms within the venue, they were beautiful. The food and food service was amazing and something we definitely got complimented on most through out the day. The day felt like a seamless process and well organised thanks to our fab events manager, Grace. She was always on hand to answer any questions or help with any issues, couldn’t have done it without her. The morning receptionist could have been a little more welcoming, however an all round amazing day thanks to Pelham House.

Pelham house - what a little hidden gem. The grounds are just beautiful. The event coordinators are amazing and make sure your day runs so smoothly. Their communication is also top tier prior to the wedding. The food was outstanding and the rooms were so lovely, especially given how affordable they are! Exclusive use is also a bonus. The only downside I would say - which is out of their control - is that you can’t have any amplified music outside, or even face the speaker outdoors. This was a shame as you couldn’t hear the acoustics band (with microphone and amp) in the gardens. Overall, I highly recommend this venue!! Special mention to Grace and Ellie (head waitress) for being so amazing.

AVOID AT ABSOLUTELY ALL COSTS, MONEY STOLEN AND MANAGEMENT DOESN’T CARE ONE BIT – I recently attended my brothers wedding, and whilst the day itself was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, that bubble was soon burst when we found out that someone with access to the hotel during the day/night/morning had stolen wedding presents (Cash from cards etc.). Conveniently (for staff and management) the CCTV does not cover the area that they chose to place the presents, although in direct line of site of staff. When brought to the staff’s attention an instant “not our problem it’s your fault for not moving the presents” was put straight to the bride and groom, who having paid thousands of pounds for the management of the day would have expected at the very least that staff might use a bit of common sense and move the gifts into another room (any other wedding planner would of, speaking of which completely disappeared early on during the day…but that’s another story) or brought it to the attention of the Bride/Groom or a member of the wedding party. The handling, attitude, and general lack of respect from management over this situation is absolutely appalling and if you value your money I’d highly suggest looking elsewhere. They have absolutely zero plans to change anything in their policy or methods to prevent this happening to any other couple so I cannot stress enough to look elsewhere.

Pelham House is a stunning venue and we absolutely made the right decision to go with it as the venue for our wedding. As they are purpose built for event hosting, the team is so well organised and having everything in one place from the ceremony, to the food, and accommodation was so convenient, especially for older family members and those with disabled accessibility needs. India, our event manager, was excellent, discussing our plans at lengths with us, from options of catering, known vendors, price tiers etc. She was also fantastic on the day, helping the running of events and coordination of vendors etc. The other staff were also so lovely and helpful, from the catering, serving, organising teams etc. and were always around to help and answer any questions/needs. The food and drink was all delicious and we were glad with went with Pelham’s own catering, which again made everything that much more straightforward. Having our ceremony in June, we opted for an outside ceremony which was beautiful, but knowing there was also an inside ceremony space allowed extra peace of mind. The overally layout, rooms, and outside space at the venue are stunning it’s like being in a country manor and you can’t believe you’re so close to the centre of Lewes. Thank you so much Pelham House team for making our day so special!

Apart from being robbed of their wedding gifts, in the night by persons unknown. I attended a beautiful wedding there. All good until the morning when they found out someone with access to the hotel had stolen pretty much all their wedding gifts overnight. You have now replied 27 days later. Still no resolution. The Hotel supplied a wedding postbox, to deposit the card's in so they had a duty of care to keep them safe. Believe it or not they were stolen from right opposite the 24 hr reception. All responses welcome

STILL NO CONTACT FROM THE VENUE TO THE BRIDE & GROOM OVER THIS ISSUE, VERY POOR! I WAS ASSURED THAT THEY WERE WORKING WITH THE COUPLE TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION, BUT I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MY FRIENDS AND THEY HAVE HAD NO FURTHER CONTACT! IF THERE WAS A 0 REVIEW I WOULD POST IT! I attended a friend's wedding recently. Although we had a lovely day, overnight the bride and groom's gifts were stolen from reception. It was being manned by a very Junior member of staff who said his shift didn't finish until 7.30am on Sunday. Pelham House have denied any responsibility for this and has said it's the bride & groom's problem. This is disgusting behaviour from a wedding venue. Myself and my husband put money in a card for them and the card was found back in the post box with no envelope and the money missing. They have missing cards and missing gift bags and are understandably very upset by this. It was Pelham House's responsibility to safeguard their gifts as reception is manned. I hope you can do something to rectify this situation for them as you have told them that Pelham House is not responsible for their gifts. You had a duty of care and this is not a good reflection of the venue and the Hotel clearly cannot be trusted. Agree with @beckylucy staff (apart from a couple of staff) in general they were rude and felt like none of them wanted to be there. I am fuming for my friends and would not recommend this venue to anyone!

I always think carefully before leaving poor reviews as I don’t believe in going out of my way to cause detriment to a business, so I will be fair and honest about what I say. After three long awaited years, my best friend of nearly 18 years and her fiancée finally had the wedding day of dreams! A beautiful setting with loved ones and lots of amazing memories made. However…. The next morning they gathered up their gifts and cards from a table in the hallway directly opposite the reception desk (which had been set up by Pelham house) only to find that many cards had been opened and placed back into the postbox with their envelopes. Sadly it transpires that a fair sum of money had been taken from those cards. Now, of course without evidence we all know you can’t say for sure who took that money. But I will say this, the venue provides accommodation for wedding guests only, the box of cards was in a place that guests were passing regularly and would not have been easily accessible without a person noticing until the reception was well untruly over and at least the majority of guests had left/gone to their rooms. It is interesting to me that the night managers version of events is that he saw a guest take the box into another room ‘to sort through’ around 9pm in the evening (when the hall would have had a constant flow of people walking through), even more interestingly this story changed again, and again! Even the description of the guests and what they were wearing changed…?! If it was not heartbreaking enough for the newly weds to have to come to terms with the fact someone had stolen from them, they then had the realisation they were completely alone in trying to get to the bottom of it all. In other words, Pelham house ‘did not want to know’. Allegedly there is no working CCTV covering the area either. My friend and her husband are now being completely ignored by Pelham house. Above all else, what an absolutely disgusting way to treat people who have spent £££ at your business! Pelham house showed no compassion, little care and offered absolutely no willing to help in this situation. Personally…. I smell a rat here! I absolutely would not recommend your venue to anyone. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Our son and daughter in laws wedding venue. Fabulous location hidden in the centre of a bustling market town. Ideal location for a wedding with the entire venue being given over as sole use on the day. The public rooms are well maintained and large and airy. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive and the whole day ran like clockwork; thank you to the whole team at Pelham. Wedding breakfast was superb, our compliments to the kitchen team, servers were on point and the attention to detail first class. Bar was beautifully presented and well stocked too. The sign of a good venue is that everything looks seamless front of house and that was certainly our take on the day; thank you to India the in-house coordinator. We stayed over night and the rooms were of a high standard and comfortable. Breakfast was continental; plentiful and again well presented and tasty. Thank you Pelham House.

Absolutely fuming with this venue!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! attended my brothers wedding and gave them a gift of money in a card their gifts were left out all night and not locked away in the morning there were cards without envelopes and money was missing!! They have plenty of cctv but coincidentally not covering the area were they left all the gifts! They then blamed my brother and his new wife saying it was their responsibility to make sure the gifts were moved at the end if the night! After paying thousands of pounds the management at Pelham House just said it wasn't their responsibility and it was tough! Please do not book this venue.

Very disappointed, attended for a wonderful wedding but staff were rude and useless with very sticky fingers. They blocked disabled access so wheelchair user had to watch first dance from bottom of stairs and when I asked for a non alcoholic drink the staff told me "there's water on the table" Lucky me. Would not recommend or visit. Don't waste ya money. Go to ravenswood instead

0 Star Review if it was possible. A friend and I attended a wedding here but unfortunately the gifts, cards and money were stolen. The venue displays an outstanding public appearance but the duty of care, lack of responsibility and liability taken is not at all apparent. Pelham House have taken no responsibility for the actions which occured and are now ignoring emails, calls and ownership of what has happened. For this particular establishment, I would not recommend anyone to consider booking a wedding or any type of event here. No investigation or enquires took place to understand what occured. If you have already booked an event/wedding here, I hope that you will reconsider and select a new venue as the same situation may occur due to poor staff and management. I hope this review finds you well Pelham House and this matter will be resolved in a timely and efficient manner.

WARNING MONEY AND GIFTS STOLEN AND VENUE DO NOT CARE! Please move your guest table into the main room and move to a secure location when going to bed. I’ll start by saying we had a great wedding day thanks to all our wonderful guests and yes Pelham is a lovely setting. However that’s where my love for Pelham ends. There were a couple of bits in the day I could have let slide if it hadn’t have ended with our gifts and money stolen from us. 1. We arrived to the suite to get ready in the morning and there were no clean glasses / mugs for the tea and coffee no Wi-Fi code to set up the music. 2. The management staff on the day were miserable couldn’t crack a smile once and the lady on the desk in the morning didn’t even bother replying when we said goodbye. I found this with my planner in the planning process but let it slide. 3. they don’t actually tell you how quiet the sound limiter makes the band in the room 1. We struggled to hire a band as many won’t bother to play at Pelham because of that reason 2. Our first dance cut out with the limiter halfway through. So take into consideration if having a band. 4. A maintenance man decided to let himself into our suite the morning after at 7:30 to fix a chair…just what you want on your first night as a married couple. When we mentioned this to Pelham they told us we were lying…why would we lie! 5. Disabled access- my grandma attended in a wheelchair when it was time for the evening / first dance they said that she couldn’t come in the room as the band had set up in front of the disabled access route…why did they let them! She had to watch my first dance from the hallway it was embarrassing for her and for me we picked pelham because they say they have disabled access it was disgraceful. I could have overlooked all of this if it wasn’t for the fact that we came home and realised a substantial amount of money and cards was missing from our guests! There were sentimental items stolen from close family members so it is very upsetting. Be warned where they set up the guest table isn’t in view of any cctv (apparently) pelham provided our postbox and left it out all night. We’re adamant it’s a member of staff as the night managers story changed 3 times as to what had happened…things kept springing to mind. He even accused a woman in her 80s who’s money has been stolen and she’s offered to regift so I highly doubt it! Only staff at Pelham knew that wasn’t covered by cctv! They also told us they won’t move your items into a secure area so you have to do it yourself this was only mentioned after we told them it had been stolen. They’ve been extremely unhelpful in the process of trying to find out what happened as it’s apparently not their problem. You’d think with the amount of weddings they hold they’d want to know if a member of their team was stealing from their couples but they couldn’t care less! So please if you’re getting married there lock your box and move it yourself into a secure room!! please don’t trust this Venue as they’re as useless as a chocolate teapot it’s honestly run by a bunch of amateurs who couldn’t give a c**p about any of their couples!

TAKE CARE IF YOU BOOK HERE-We had a beautiful wedding for my daughter here but sadly there was an incident where money was stolen from the pillar box provided by Pelham House. Despite several attempts to get a resolution from Pelham House about this and to have a meaningful discussion this is still unresolved . The pillar box was placed by Pelham House in an area with no cctv and any communication from us is now being ignored- please take care if you book here. We also had a guest in an electric wheelchair and to say access is poor is a bit of an understatement - we asked for their meal to be cut in the kitchen as a pre day request - we had to ask 3 times on the day!!! No access into the reception room in the evening which was very upsetting for all and we had to ask the band to move - so if you have mobility issues maybe book elsewhere. So disappointed to leave this review as we were all so looking forward to this day.

Outstanding in every way 😊 I wish I had names, but I want to say a huge thanks to all the amazing staff. My daughters wedding on the 14.7.23 was amazing. Having been a wedding coordinator I spot the little things, but from arriving to departing everything was 10/10 with bells!! Thank you Xx

The most beautiful setting for our daughter’s wedding day, having lived in East Sussex all our lives,we never knew this was here just off the main high street, entered through a courtyard, once inside it is truly breathtaking and beautiful and very elegant. We could not fault any of the day India and her team were superb from the initial arrival of the bride and her party which we had the bridal dressing room to get ready, everything was well thought out and the room accommodated 7 of us plus the hair and beauty team. The room for the ceremony was stunning,and the bar area and other rooms had plenty of space for the whole wedding party to “spill into” The terrace and the beautiful large gardens were again stunning. The rooms where we all slept equally beautiful. I cannot highly recommend Pelham House enough and want to thank everyone involved in my daughter and son in laws wedding for such a stunningly gorgeous day.

I really had the best wedding day at Pelham. The house and grounds are beautiful and the staff worked so well together, the service was impeccable. I also had some issues with a wedding planner and India from Pelham reassured us and effortlessly co-ordinated our day to great success. Pelham do seem inflexible with some things, but I now know that’s because they know what works when it comes to weddings. We also had to change from being outside to inside due to weather, which was again effortlessly changed. It would be great to have some fans in the Goring room, but that’s a minor thing. I’ve had so many compliments on our wedding day and would get married at Pelham all over again! Thank you for making our day so special.

OK, it was the perfect day to be in the garden. However, they managed the event really well. It was a pleasure. The food was fun. The view of the Downs lovely.

I was the photographer recently for a wedding at the amazing Pelham House. It was such a please to work at this beautiful venue. I can highly recommend it if you're getting married the staff were extremely professional and took great care of everyone on the day. I hope to be back again soon to shoot another wedding. Ben

Lovely wedding location and kept to a high standard. Staff friendly Food was good Rooms comfy The only slight improvement could be warm items at breakfast, but the items available were still good.

Wedding function was absolutely seamless. The facilities staff and service could not have been any better.

A lovely, stunning venue nestled amongst a historic medieval village. The grounds of the venue are beautifully maintained with small glimpses of the hills surrounding the location. As it was a hot summer day it was difficult being outside for too king but the trees by the gazebo provided much needed shade during the ceremony. Indoors the air conditioning and design of the building provided a much needed break from the heat. The catering staff all did amazingly during the wedding breakfast with some delicious food options available. The rooms were stunning, each had individual styles to them and the Pelham Suite for the newlyweds is absolutely massive, it could function perfectly well as an apartment in its own right! The only downside to the venue is the lack of disabled access. Whilst they offer a disabled room across from the main building, there is no way to get any wheelchair users down to the ceremony area without literally lifting the person in the wheelchair down several steps onto gravel.

Staff weren't overly interested in how the stay was. Check in was like signing up for a new bank account with the amount of info they required. I'm 6ft4" and they put me in room 15 which can only be described as a room for character out of Lord of the rings! Every door frame in the room was about 5ft6"! The bed was made of two singles which started to separate during the night. The shower was the noisiest thing in the world! My wife left me in bed to get the extra 10 mins sleep to get over the head banging and I found myself waking up with a jump to the screeching of the shower. Somehow noisier in the bedroom than in the bathroom?!?! To top the lot, I got up, went to take a shower and found it took the same lotr approach and the fixed shower head was set so low I couldn't get under. I felt like Gollum or Frodo from the crouching involved. All that said, we were only there for one night and didn't bother to ask for a change of room so maybe they could have accommodated. That said, they didn't even ask how the stay was as we checked out. All a bit strange really!!!!

Pelham House was the first venue we saw when looking for places to host our April 2023 wedding, and it stuck in our minds throughout all the other viewings - we just knew it couldn't be beaten! The events staff are amazing, we cannot thank the team enough for all the help they provided in the year lead up to the big day. From initial booking, to our first and last events meetings, to the big day, everything was seamless and we felt in good hands! A special thankyou to Grace especially (our events manager) who made everything run like clockwork on the day. We didn't have to worry about a thing! The venue is absolutely stunning! Elegant, charming, with beautiful period features - we had lots of lovely comments from our friends and family about just how stunning Pelham House is, it will literally take your breath away! The day itself was perfect, we cannot fault a single thing. Staff were so friendly, funny and professional, it was like staying in a 5 star hotel! They thought of all the little things we had forgotten about and went out of their way to make our day perfect (after all the photo taking, the Groom and I hadn't had a chance to sample the canapes, but the staff had reserved a plate back just for us, full of food - thankyou so much!!) The wedding breakfast was delicious, some of the best food we have eaten and the surprise fourth course was entertaining! The overnight accommodation I cannot get over - the bed was so comfy!! And after a full day of entertaining, dinner, drinks and dancing, the thing you want most, is a big comfy bed and a good nights sleep. The Pelham Suite is an absolute must if you are thinking of choosing Pelham for your wedding. Breakfast the next morning was a lovely touch and very much needed after all those drinks! Very nice place for a wedding. The only issue was the heating in the room was on full but we switched off the rads and it was all good.

We got married at Pelham House in February 2023, and everything was absolutely perfect. The day was amazing, and really was everything we imagined. A massive mention to the staff who make the day go seamlessly, specifically India, who couldn't have done more. A gorgeous wedding venue, so pleased we had our day here.

I love photographing weddings at Pelham House! There are so many gorgeous spots for portraits and the house is so beautifully done. The staff are always so welcoming and accommodating, and the food is delicious. With Lewes just on the doorstep, and options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, it really is one of my favourite local venues all year round. Charlotte Rebecca Photography

Such a fantastic venue. It's so rare to find a wedding venue where you can have everything in one place yet have it all to yourself and your guests, and with incredible accommodation to boot! I've stayed in 5* hotels with lesser quality rooms The team are so helpful with planning every part of the big day - we found the whole process stress free and easy It really was the perfect wedding day from start to finish; the venue beautiful, the food amazing and all of the staff fantastic. There really isn't a rating high enough to give Pelham House and all of the team there - all of our wedding guests said how perfect everything was and were blown away with all aspects of the day We were so happy to get married there and we really couldn't have asked for more - memories to treasure forever!

I've photographed two weddings at Pelham House over the last 18 months and I've absolutely loved them both. We had the most incredible wedding day at Pelham House, Danielle who looked after us was amazing in the build up to the day, and on the day itself. The food was amazing and the beauty of the house speaks for itself! The location is great as it’s in the town but you feel you are in the countryside with the beautiful gardens and views. We cannot thank the team at Pelham House enough!

We attended a wedding at Pelham House last month and also stayed overnight at the venue. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean with a massive bed. Unfortunately there was only teabag, but I was happy enough with coffee. The venue itself is stunning with beautiful grounds and lovely ceremony / reception rooms. I’d happily get married there if I wasn’t already!

Dear India, Charlie and the rest of the Pelham House team, Thank you so much for making our wedding day the best day of our lives! Everyone had such a great time and the day flowed brilliantly. We fell in love with the venue as soon as we visited on one of your open days. We also picked up our suppliers for photography at the open day and a magician that we experienced at the tasting event. The proximity to Lewes train station and other transport links while still being incredibly private and quiet despite its central location was a massive draw. The fact that people can stay in the rooms and especially the accessible room that we used for my nan was another big plus. The complimentary shuttle service to and from the station is a great addition so that no one has to walk up the hill too. The building is such a perfect set up with lots of space and rooms to make the day run smoothly. We had our wedding in October and managed to make use of the fantastic gardens but can imagine that an outside wedding in the summer would also be wonderful. That said, there is plenty of space inside from the ceremony room, bar area, dining area, the panelled room for breakfast, powder room for some people to get ready and even the wide corridors for people to catch a breath after dancing the night away! On the day, the team were fantastic in helping us set up all the little details that we had planned. This was something we thought we would have to do ourselves so having help with it all made the morning more relaxed. The bride can get ready in her own suite before the ceremony and ‘The Pelham Suite’ for the both of us is bigger than most flats and just a fantastic space to relax after our big day. The food was outstanding. Fine dining on your wedding day really adds another element to make it feel that bit more special. A particular highlight was the pizza from the pizza oven that many people noted was the best pizza they’d ever had! Every single thing was the best you could ask for and our guests loved every last morsel! We also had one or two guests who had severe food allergies that were catered for with ease and professionalism which made sure every guest was able to enjoy the day with confidence. A beautifully renovated Georgian townhouse which is one of the best wedding venues in the South. Rolling well manicured gardens with stately rooms for your wedding receptions are on offer. A well stocked bar and an amazing great room for exclusive dining gives you olde world charm feels. The silver service catering and friendly professional staff are outstanding. The hotel rooms are beautifully decorated with comfortably bedding for a restful night after dancing the night away. Thank you for a splendid day to celebrate a special occasion.

Awful place mistreatment of customers and no compassion. Couldn't refund a lady after her husband passed. You have 2 years you could easily re book the slot and 500 for admin. Disgusting. And im sure the caterers won't charge u 500 pound having heard the sad news.

I’ve been reading a story linked to this venue - a couple paid £3,000 for their wedding 2 years in advance, excited to be married. Sadly he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and devastatingly passed away within 6 weeks. Pelham House have said they will only refund her if they get a subsequent booking for that date, minus £500 admin fee?! Appalling and disgusting treatment - no compassion whatsoever. How can they justify a £500 admin fee and not offer her any form of refund. This poor lady is suffering enough already, please do the right thing Pelham House. The damage you are doing to your reputation will far outweigh £3000.

Just been reading an incredibly sad post on Facebook about a lovely lady suddenly loosing her husband to be and has booked and fully paid for a wedding here in three years.obviously she has contacted Pelham house to ask for a refund but they have said no not one penny so what a terrible heartless business surely you could make an exception in this terribly sad occasion.

Wouldn't touch this company after a lady booked her wedding for 2 years time and has been refused her money back amounting to nearly £3000 due to her husband suddenly passing away from aggressive cancer no compassion from this company at all so something tou might want to bare in mind when booking with this company

A friend of mine recently decided to use this establishment for her wedding venue. They paid their deposit and were due to be married in April 2024. Sadly her fiancé was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and his health rapidly declined. They had to get married in hospital, where he heartbreakingly passed away. Now this establishment has refused to return the deposit, which is £3,000 that could be used towards funeral and burial costs. Talk about a business with no morals or ethics.

Very badly run place. Was greeted by a very rude bald man (which I assume is the manager). Left a bad taste in my mouth.

We had our wedding at Pelham House at the beginning of September 2022, and it was amazing! India (our event manager), was really responsive via email prior to the wedding, and herself and the team made sure everything ran seamlessly during the day itself. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pelham House to future couples x

A stunning venue with amazing food in an idyllic town. Pelham house was a fantastic venue for our wedding, however the management team are missing a bit of attention to detail which would really make this wedding venue a complete package. The catering was amazing. The food was excellent, well timed and tasted delicious. The venue itself is a perfect escape whilst still being 30 seconds from the high street and well connected for people travelling. All the staff are welcoming, friendly and adapted to our ideas for the day however, the management of our wedding was very different from what we were shown when considering the venue. Communication/Organisation could be improved. Our suppliers documents went missing even though they'd been sent to the venue which we then had to chase. There was no run through of the day closer to the time, which made some elements challenging to organise on the day. We had to chase to confirm that the bridal suite had been booked. Small details such as moving bags to rooms, holes in sheets, helping set up & declutter the venue in the morning after made check out extremely rushed, placing the bridal flowers in water (rather than leaving them to wilt on the side) and having more attention to the drinks/food of the bride and groom could all be improved. The manager on the day was described by multiple separate guests as 'overly stressed'. Parts of our day, e.g. a walk up the castle, that we're really important to us became an issue. While the manager was friendly and welcoming there needs to be better consideration for the smaller details on the day. This could be improved with a run through in the week before the wedding. Flow of people (such as viewings) & the rush for next wedding event can make the mornings feel rushed. The morning after the wedding the next wedding party we're wondering through the venue to set up, before the 10am check out of our wedding. Some of our guests commented this made the morning after feel a bit rushed. Better support from management e.g helping the next wedding set up after 10am when the previous wedding had departed would solve this. Would highly recommend as it is a fantastic wedding venue, but would be 5 stars with some more attention to detail from management.

Pelham House is an oasis set in the heart of historical Lewes. The house and gardens are beyond beautiful the staffs level of service and professionalism were second to none . They all made our special day run perfectly.

Such a great experience having our wedding at Pelham. The team were always so responsive and helpful, and nothing felt like too much or an inconvenience for them. The food was incredible, and the staff were so professional. Isla, our coordinator, was incredible and made sure we were constantly happy.

Pelham House were utterly superb from start to finish with my daughter’s wedding. Helpful, great suggestions, and just the most amazing building. The food, the service, the catering, everything was perfect. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Stunning and beautiful. Just lacks parking. Though it has a train station directly outside.

Hosted my Sisters wedding. Staff were attentive. Site was beautiful, each area well equipped and functional. Whole family had an amazing time. Each area is well thought out. some interesting architecture. Is a small staff so occasionally we struggled to find someone. Is an old building so a few people did struggled to sleep with noise created by wind over night. I however found my bed and room very comfy. Was well rested in the morning.

We are very happy to have chosen Pelham House to celebrate our wedding. We loved the venue and knew it was right for us as soon as we saw it. The staff were brilliant with helping us plan our big day and were accommodating when we moved the date due to Covid. All our guests have said how much fun they had on our wedding day and loved the venue.

We were lucky enough to hold our wedding at Pelham House just before Christmas 2021. As with most people, that have had a wedding in 2021, it was postponed from 2020! We only have amazing positives to take away from our experiences with Pelham – the location, the food, the staff, the rooms, the service, the gardens, the support & planning and so many incredible comments from our friends and family. Whilst we consider ourselves a fairly easy-going couple, nothing was too much for the Pelham team. Great communication and took the stress (Covid aside!) out of everything. When we thought we may have to postpone our original date in 2020, they allowed us to move with no additional charge, held a provisional date for us (for 2021) and honoured all offers made. We’ve heard to many stories from friends where additional charges were made but Pelham were truly brilliant throughout. We never thought we’d get married in a ‘wedding venue’ but Pelham was the first place we visited and feel in love with it straight away. We’re so happy that we chose to get married here and could not recommend it enough. Thank you, Charli – you were amazing!

Fantastic place with amazing staff

Attended a wedding here and stayed overnight. Beautiful but no parking on site (4 spaces). Nearby parking (pay and display) so no real issues there. Disappointed by the simple continental breakfast only served no cooked breakfast offered.
