2 x Takeaway large extra hot coffees ordered. When we actually left the area to drink our coffee we realised that the coffee cups were not even halfway full, both of them. At £2.90 a time it was very, very disappointing. I would go as far as saying a ripoff.We obviously paid for a large paper cup with a small coffee.Not impressed.

Spacious restaurant with views of the cruise ships anchored in the harbour. Pizza and falafel salad were very good. Both quite filling and the salad had lovely balsamic dressing. Well worth a visit.

Called for coffee. The service was poor and wasn't offered a menu so just had a drink. Seemed a popular place to eat as most of the tables were reserved.

We were made very welcome and had a lovely view out over the promenade and sea. The drinks were served promptly and the food was hot and tasty. The staff were very helpful and kind and it was all very good value.

Great place to admire the wonderful sea views and seafront. Clean restaurant with quick and friendly service and reasonable prices. Luxury hot chocolate was amazing but could have done with the cup being warmed as went cold quickly- this could have also been because the doors have to be left open due to Covid guidelines (not restaurants fault but made the whole place cold). Would go again!

We visited The View many times during our 2 week stay. The meals were very good , we couldn't fault anything , The staff were friendly and smiling especially during these trying times. On entry, we were greeted by the friendly manager and his staff , explaining about track and trace, and sanitiser . Will be back next year.

I popped in this evening as a spontaneous idea and wasnt sure what to expect.The food was great and the prices are very reasonable. I had the chicken burger and my friends had a pizza. I would definitely recommend this establishment. The staff were also very friendly and attentive.We will be back

We love this place. It has an air of sophistication, the food is good and, normally, the service is friendly and professional. However, we had a very different experience the other night. I recognise the added burden and stress that operating in a Covid world must place on staff so any comments need to be placed in that context. We were met at the entrance by an unsmiling and unwelcoming woman who showed us to our table. When we asked if we could sit elsewhere there were exaggerated sighs and comenta about needing to disinfect the table again. Our waitress was also unsmiling, but more worrying, she came very close to the table to take our order and deliver our food. There was no respecting social distance and, as no one was wearing masks, this didn’t feel particularly safe. We have eaten in other restaurants, outside, and waiters were very respectful and careful about standing away from the table when taking the order. I think this is an important training issue. The food did take a long time to come, but that wasn’t a problem. We could see they were busy and when it arrived, it was well cooked and plentiful. To my mind, friendly customer service is the most important element of a meal out, even more so than the quality of the food. On this occasion The View fell short.

Been tonight the 2 course meal for the price you pay great value the 2 female members of staff that served us where great will visit again when we are back down this way

Our 4th visit and every one the same. Really friendly service, great food and good price + the sea view. Recommend anyone to try it.

I’m not the kind of person to search out a place on line to write a review (I just don’t think of these things) but I feel like I need people to realise how amazing this place is. This is the second time I’ve visited The View recently and didn’t think it would be as good the second time round. My friends and I all debated on going somewhere else but thought we would be safe and choose The View as we had such a great experience the first time around. This is now going to be our regular meet up venue ! I have to say I think I actually Love this place ! All the thought and care from the lovely staff has been incredible, not to mention the food that is not only great but reasonably priced. Thankyou once again, we are looking forward to seeing you again soon

Reading a few of these reviews, I felt that I have an opportunity to reassure any sceptics about this place!My family and I are regular visitors to The View and have only ever received top class customer service and fantastic food. This restaurant has successfully adapted to the Covid restrictions and we all have to adhere to them for the safety of others around us, understandably the toilets are shut for this reason, however there are public toilets very nearby on the green. We will be continuing to enjoy The View's welcoming staff and astonishing views over teignmouth seafront for years to come hopefully! We highly recommend multiple visits here!

Food is great but the customer service was very disappointing. Our whole table left feeling like we were a total inconvenience to them all night!They made mistakes with our bill (adding extra drinks on there that we never had), when we asked if we could split the bill the waitress sighed and rolled her eyes (not even subtly!) and they were just very rude in general e.g. never offered us the dessert menu so when we asked she replied “oh right, we just assumed you didn’t want one”...very strange and made it quite an unpleasant experience

Yes it's got a nice view upstairs but that didn't compensate for the wait. Over 40 mins just for coffees. Staff weren't rude, but there was no apology and certainly no smile when we reminded them we hadn't had our drinks, just a look like we'd put them out! We've been here a few times and the service is generally slow, but this time was a joke.

Visited here on a wet and windy August day but the view of the waves was still spectacular. Despite it being very busy because of the eat out to help out initiative our food was served very quickly and the quality was spot on. Couldn’t fault the service and cleanliness. Would definitely visit again.

Extremely disappointed Had to wait 40 minutes for a beefburger staff made no apology.The first excuse was that our order was placed after a party of six and we would be served soon.10 minutes later we chased up our order to be informed that a deep-freeze had broken down and therefore how older would be further delayed

Such a disappointing visit. Poor service. 1 hour from order to recieving our burger. Poor menu choices. Would not recommend.

I visit The View regularly, both meeting friends and family for lunch, coffee and having takeaway. I have always found all the staff friendly and helpful - always good to see a smile in these difficult times. The coffee is the best I have had in Town and the food is very tasty and well presented. The location is perfect as it looks right across the beautiful seafront and out to sea. I haven't anything negative to say about this restaurant.

I went out with my friends for the first time since lockdown and chose The View, from a recommendation. I have to say we were all very excited for a night out but nervous at the same time. We were not disappointed !! Safe, clean and extremely good customer service !! We weren’t going to eat but looking at the menu decided to share a Spanish pizza with some fries, I would definitely recommend the pizza. All in All a great night had. On top of all this we were served by the manager, Gemma, who went over and above to make our experience the best it could be. Thankyou for everything ....... see you all again soon

This is a great place to visit and highly recommended. It truly lives up to its name. Food and Coffee are simply top draw. Very dog friendly and the service is great. Always looking forward to my next visit.

I was highly impressed with the quality of customer service and table service on offer at this establishment. The waitress was delightful and incredibly polite with helping me with my order. The food is delectable and the coffee's are fantastically made. I would recommend this cafe to anyone wanting a nice relaxing coffee or meal in the Teignmouth area.

Had a great meal here today, called in for coffee & reserved a table later for lunch. Comfy sofas & really high quality food at a reasonable price. Outside is lovely if the weather permits. I would recommend the chicken caeser salad. Staff are friendly & lunch was served quickly despite being busy. We will be back!

First get together with my very close friend since March.She was very very nervous coming out to dine for the first time since lockdown.As I know the view is very strict on following the government guide lines we went there.Great choice, within minutes my friend felt at ease, plenty of space and lovely screens seperating tfe tables and not crushed in.We had a great lunch, food was cooked well and all was lovely and fresh followed by a lovely latte.The girls were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble they took the time and care needed.My friend and I will definitely be using The View as our choice place to go even after Covid.See you all again soon.

Asked about the wiping of tables and found out the cloth that is used is a freah cloth which comes from cloths that are kept in a bowl of bleach/sanitizer. Asked and Smelt one when they wiped the table and it definitely is sanitizer and or bleach. So not always right to assume always ask.

Nice cup of coffee- however -asked to have table cleared and cleaned before sitting down -eventually somebody came up -used a damp cloth to give a cursory wipe across the table, and two othertables, no cleaning product, not completely wiped, and no cleaning of the seats etc- very worrying that so little care was taken, sat down, but made sure not to touch the table...people followed us to sit down, this time no wiping at ll, could not call it cleaning ! need to be careful here unless this is rectified immediatelydid not order food after seeing this...

5 portions of chips for take away , one with cheese. Undercooked chips, tasteless cheese . Staff clueless. Complete ripoff. Don’t waste your money . The management clearly have no idea of how to run a catering establishment. Pure greed in action .

Queued for two take away drinks. Unbelievable prices for mediocre drinks with no biscuit. Ordered a large latte which barely made the regular mark in my book. Waited ages for a girl on her own doing everything. She went to get more milk and must have gone to the co op it took so long. She could have done with a bit of support. Nicely marked social distancing boxes were marked on the floor but most of the customers ignore these. This is not the staffs fault but they should tell them to wait behind the line while she serves someone. I had a whole family breathing down my neck. Not an experience I will be repeating.

Misled by the revues ! Don’t get me wrong the location is fabulous and the staff faultless. In fact they get a 10 out of 10.The food at lunchtime however was very poor, yes my wife had a sizeable portion of Ham, Egg and Chips but as she said Devon Ham or not it was tasteless.My Sea Food Platter or what ever it was called was Eight Small pieces of tasteless deep fried breadcrumbs and a sizeable portion of cheap chips. Massive Portions ! I don’t think so.

Booked a table even on a Wednesday lunchtime top measure sure we had a good view and didn't have to wait for table. Great view - obviously - even on a grey day. Friendly staff, food came quickly and was very good. We both had the fish finger sandwiches with sweet potato fries. Delicious! Will definitely return.

Well there is a nice view out the windows, but it's like sitting in a greenhouse. Even in January it was absolutely scorching hot and with blue sky outside the sunlight was blinding to anyone sitting in the "wrong" direction. Food was tasty, but portions were not the most generous.

A brilliant location on the seafront, though from the outside it is a bit of an eyesore! Lucky enough to be there on a sunny day, café light and airy.Staff were helpful and efficient, although communication with one of them was slightly confusing. They did their best to produce a good atmosphere.The food was we-prepared and nicely presented. My only reservation was that the description of one option as a "light bite" was misleading and the portion was huge. This meant a laborious effort to complete it, taking time that could have been spent outside enjoying the open air.

the menu has been the same for months try to change it as it becomes stale with the same menu week in and out try less burgers and bring the prices down.

We visited The View this week and have to say.... it doesn’t get any better. We have visited many places over the years and none of them come close to our visit to The View. Firstly, the first impression of any business is the most important. We were greeted by a lady called Gemma, I think, and for anyone out there who wants to know something about customer service, this lady has got it all. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the breath taking views out to sea whilst enjoying exceptional coffee. I think sometimes people find it easy to write negative reviews on Tripadvisor, and I wanted to share my thoughts about how great this place is. If you haven’t been there.... you must! Thank you so much.

I visited The View this past Sunday. Whilst queuing for quite some time at no point did any of the staff acknowledge anyone standing there. They looked stressed and their attitude was surly. I raised this issue with the young girl at the till when she eventually looked up to take my order. I pointed out that in these situations it's common courtesy to acknowledge waiting customers and advise that they would be with us soon, rather than pretending we weren't there. At this this point the manageress, Gemma butted in, who had also made it a point to look anywhere else other than at the people standing patiently in front of her. Instead of acknowledging what I was saying she took on a combative stance and proceeded to argue that it was because they were busy. This isn't the first time I'd encountered this reaction from her, as on another visit I'd had to send some rather grey looking chicken nuggets back that I'd ordered from the children's section of the menu. This time she argued that it was BECAUSE I'd ordered from that section that the food was below par...Unbelievable!!!The place has a great view sure, but apart from the rudeness, the place often looks messy, and the food is average. There are many other wonderful establishments in Teignmouth that have similar menus, but also manage to provide a wonderful service from friendly and polite staff, even at times where they have people standing waiting for tables to become available. Manners cost nothing, and given the other points I've mentioned, I won't be giving The View my custom again, it isn't worth my time or money.

We recently made a couple of trips here whilst staying nearer to dawlish and weren't disappointed. The sea views are fab even though it was grey and rainy. Lovely drinks and decent coffee and my wife was very happy with the chocolate Sunday. Must go to in teignmouth

We booked a table of seven for a special birthday breakfast. The view from the restaurant is fantastic, especially on a nice day. Service was friendly and quick and a great choice of options. We all had various options but the standard breakfast was excellent. Very nicely cooked, quality ingredients and served with good coffee. A great start to the day.

We visited in the evening for dinner and sat inside just by the bar. The tables all take advantage of the view with full sized windows overlooking the beach and seafront.

We have walked by a few times whilst in Teignmouth and always said we needed to try it out and today we did. It’s deceiving how big it is upstairs with lots of seating and a great view. The menu was good with lots to choose from and the prices were reasonable too. I went for the pizza and my husband the chilli burger. Service was really quick even though they warned us there was up to 30 minute wait on food because they had an event on. The food itself was lovely and there was plenty of it.

Visited yesterday and wanted two coffees. Not a big order I admit but there was a big wait of 20 minutes which we whiled away looking at the other expectant customers. Delay was a talking point and the waitress spent ages arranging condiments on a table, reminiscent of Raffa Nadal.

Sitiing outside on the promenade watching the world go by on a Sunny day in July before the rush of the school holidays.....What's not to like! Great lunchtime snack served efficiently would definately visit again

7 of us visited for breakfast recently. We had no trouble finding seating upstairs.

Stopped off at one of our favourite lunch eateries in Teignmouth today, the View. In the now pedestrian area of the seafronts this nice two story cafe. We ordered char grilled chicken salad and a cheeseburger. Both served quickly and were both very tasty. The floor in the restaurant could do with a good clean - but otherwise all good. Watch out for the seagulls if sitting outside. They will have your lunch!

When we ordered, we were told the wait would be 30mins for food. Not a prob for us adults but my little nephew would not have waited for that long. So, at our request, they sent up some salad stuff (immediately) for him to snack on, which was perfect. The wait for the rest of the food was much less than half an hour in the end anyway.

Visited with some of my family most of whom have allergies. The staff were very helpful in taking the time to check that all the food was prepared as required despite being very busy. The food was excellent and produced fairly quickly when you take into account it was the holiday season and everywhere was rammed. And it was air conditioned!

Popped in for a quick drink and snack for lunch and was impressed by the efficient staff and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Very quick service on what was quite a busy time.

Really tasty coffee and plenty of seating. Spent a nice couple of hours here. Had a lunch before with my grandson which was very tasty and well presented.

Just had the Whitby scampi which we ordered just before last orders - 7pm - staff very courteous- and the scampi was outstanding. Many thanks to everyone for making the evening a special treat - our first evening in Teignmouth after a horrendous journey down the M5.

On the sea front with bookable tables offering a choice of food with a view from the balcony over the whole bay .A full english sets you up for a walk to Torquay

One of Teignmouth's new additions which also contains the cinema and theatre. Comfortable and bright area to dine with fab views of the coast and surprisingly good food.

I come here very often, such a lovely cafe and such a relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it.

Visited on a busy bank holiday with 3 generations of our family

Stopped here for Lunch with wife and son. Sea food basket, baked potato and fish finger sandwich, tea, coffee and a beer. A little pricey, however the food was excellent and served with a smile and of course the view along the pier to go with it.

The four of us ordered tea and mega fish finger sandwiches. We enjoyed our meal but due to a mishap not all of the sandwiches were brought out at the same time. Also, I felt prices were a bit steep but I guess you pay for the view. On a good day this is splendid but on a rainy day you might be better off in a cosy pub. Great art venue and cinema by the way.

Beautiful views, good food however one toilet was not properly cleaned. Everything feeling dated, chairs needed cleaning and table stained. Lovely courteous staff.

Hardly any choice for Gluten free , unless of course you counted the pizza or ham egg and chips . Staff seemed very uninterested and uninformed. Very disappointing

The setting for this cafe is delightful looking out over the sea. The coffee and cake were very nice but the service was a little wanting. Very young staff so probably needed some more training

We called In for Sunday Lunch. As a couple with a three and a half yr old we look for family friendly places. They had a nice children's menu and we opted for the pizza. I ordered the coronation chicken and jacket. Meals served quickly and were hot. Staff very pleasant. We have been here before and had a nice meal. Only criticism is the toilets need more regular cleaning and the hand drier in one cubicle was not working.

Went in with my family, here on their first visit to Devon. They have a six month old baby, and asked if his food could be heated for thirty seconds in the microwave. Surly refusal by staff. This was the only establishment that refused this on my family’s holiday. One bright individual said we could buy a tea cake and “Won’t that do?”. Well, no, actually, that will not do. I was most surprised at their attitude as I have been there quite a lot in the past, we’ll not bother going there again.

Nice clean, modern bar/café with a lovely view of Teignmouth pier and beach. Good relaxing atmosphere and drinks are reasonably priced. Can imagine this to be a great spot when the sun is out on their terrace area outside.

The view is great for basic simple lunches such as burgers and sandwiches but it does offer quite an extensive menu if needed.

Called in for a light lunch on Valentine’s Day after a walk along the beach on a glorious spring like winters day. Buttered fish fingered sandwich and a bacon, Brie and cranberry granary sandwich alas with minimal Brie and cranberry which was a disappointment. Tasted beautiful though with a small side salad. All tables busy. Slower service than expected but we weren’t in a hurry as just chilling. Pricey I thought but I guess it is all about location and what a view. Would return.

We had dinner here one weekday evening, and could not fault the service or the food. I had an enormous pizza and could only eat half, so a very obliging waitress put the remainder in a take away box for me. The restaurant was busy and crowded when we arrived,because of film-goers queuing for drinks, but once the film started it was very quiet. It was a stormy night and we had a great view of the huge waves breaking over the promenade.

The transformation of the old theatre is fantastic. What views from the upstairs bar, as though you are on the beach with nothing but the sea stretching out for miles, to the horizon. They serve excellent food, snacks available, coffee etc., Well worth a visit next time you are in Teignmouth, just head for the sea front of the main beach and just enjoy.

Took my Mum for her 95th birthday didn't want huge meal just alight bite. Excellent bacon roll for my Mum my brother and I had large breakfast which was lovely only let down was my sister-in-law's teacake which could have been left in toaster a bit longer.Staff really nice and helpful.

We purchased green tea and tea cakes yesterday. They provided us with normal tea and dirty cups! We asked for the cups to be changed which they accommodated but then gave more dirty cups. We said that could they change them again for the lady to argue with us that the cups were clean!!! If there are Managers on site then they really do need to take control as the price we paid against the level of service (excluding the amazing view) was disgusting!! There is a definite failing and views alone do not allow for such an awful Rude service. The cups were snatched away from me when I was trying to point out how bad they were. This was our second visit & NO improvement to our first about 2 months ago. Think this will be our last visit.

Visited twice for lunch and dinner and tried the vegetarian and vegan salad and the quinoa, edamame burger. Delicious.

I've been to the view and it's been hit and miss depending on who you get served by.

Only been in for drinks, mostly to admire the views and chat in a comfy relaxed atmosphere. There are two bars but sit upstairs outside if the weather is warm enough. Food is available and this place was popular at lunchtime.

We chose this place as it had great views over the seafront. The menu looked ok too. I would say it was busy but not absolutely packed. We wanted to go upstairs but needed to use the lift. After several attempts we thought it wasn’t working. Finally managed to get the attention of a member of staff to find ‘it hadn’t been switched on’. We found a seat easily, went to order and saw a sign which said 40 minute wait for food...which was actually then advised to be getting to 50 minutes.

If my husband and I fancy a breakfast treat, this is the place to go, the menu is a varied and a decent size, they will adapt things to your requirements,. They do food all day but I have only been here for breakfast.

We recently held my beloved Dad's wake at the View. Steve Boricic the owner could not have been more accommodating and he made a very painful time very bearable. The View was Dad's favourite restaurant, he loved it for its easy access and stunning views coupled with delicious food and the buffet laid on for us certainly surpassed our expectations. The choice of drinks including cocktails is great and the pricing very reasonable.

Had a nice Devon cream tea on the balcony today. Shame only plain scones and no fruit scones and the clotted cream was not very generous. Great views and very comfortable.

My Nan, my Mum and I decided to share a bottle of wine at The View. The man who served us was lovely and got us exactly what we asked for.

We popped in for a Cream Tea before returning home, we ordered and paid at the counter. The pots of tea were delivered very quickly and the scones came shortly after. It was all very clean and the staff were pleasant. No problems at all, I don't know if there they have a shortage of toilets, but there seemed to be some queuing down the corridor.

Disappointing because the service is good and pleasant however the goujons were tough ?and difficult to eat no flaky cod here must have been made with the scrag ends of the fish Will not return

Overpriced for average offerings :( yes they have a view but so do lots of lovely independents in Teignmouth who are offering a better variety of cakes and snacks at more realistic prices.

The View has that something we look for. I am not sure what it is. As a complete contrast the Beachcomber had the same appeal when it was open but for different reasons. To have both open and competing in Teignmouth would be great for the resort and the customer.

We stopped here today on a bit of a gloomy day weather wise but found a lovely warm atmosphere at The View. We ordered our food with a lovely, smiley server and it arrived at our table within about 25 mins - the order was exactly what we’d asked for and the food was lovely. A children’s menu made sure our lo was chartered for although it would be lovely if they could offer a wider range of food overall. Will be back again x

Popped in for a bite of lunch, had the feel of a leisure centre when we walked in which was a little strange. Went upstairs and found a seat. Ordered at the bar and was dealt with by very polite, friendly and helpful staff. When the food arrived we were all (family of 4 including 2 late teenage lads) hugely impressed with the quality of the food and service. We will definitely eat here again if we are in the area.

We visited the view twice over the weekend of the 2nd August and we found the venue to be clean and presentable. Drinks are reasonably priced and it was not too busy. Which allowed us to sit with a beautiful view of the sea front.

I have visited here a couple of times and to be honest it feels like it's trying to be a high class establishment but not really achieving it.

Visit for the afternoon and thought would try here for lunch. Young staff- friendly but the order taker was fooling around with another staff member and when my burger was delivered it was incorrect. Ham Egg and Chips was the other order which was fine although the chips with both were heavily salted.

The View has one is f the best locations in Teignmouth. It has god coffee and friendly service and lots of seating available. Also the kids menu is good and extensive enough so it is also excellent place to have lunch with the family.

I popped into the View today, having heard great things from friends and I was certainly not disappointed; impressed with the quality of both food and customer service. I rang up and booked a table with Grace who offered us a table with a lovely view! When we arrived our table was covered in dishes, no suprise seeing how busy it was for such a lovely summers day. Lee came over promptly and welcomed us warmly whilst also clearing our table. When our food arrived we were delighted with the appearance and it tasted amazing, our waitress Claire was very friendly and happy She sent our compliments to the chef. Big thumbs up to Ian! The manager Gemma came soon after to make sure we were happy with our food and wished us a good day. It certainly was thanks to the team at The View! Thanks Steve, you’ve got a great work force. I only popped in for coffee and a takeout but it was spotlessly clean and the staff were really attentive and polite , it’s not often you get a good vibe from buying coffee but this was one of those moments

The view is amazing but the food not so. I had the Veggie Breakfast and it was all badly over cooked, only just edible. I think the chef just through everything in the deep fat fryer, even the mushrooms. Greasy and annoying for £8!

Due to a landmark Birthday in April 2018, I wanted to make sure, I had a party venue booked well in advance. The View was my first choice and was booked on the 9th February 2018.

Went in to this place at 21:35. Asked girls a coffee. Told no can’t do coffees as we voice at 22:00h. We could have an alcoholic drink but not coffee.

Very good location with a nice terrace but be aware of the seagulls if sitting out on it. Even though there are deterrents they are not phased and will attack a chip on sight! The food here is as you would expect but slightly over-priced. The latte is excellent as are the fresh natural juices.

This cafe has a wonderful view. It is a pity that the food and service was so lacklustre. It was fine but definitely nothing special. It needs a good shake up.

Totally dismissive attitude, not even a good morning... Took money for coffees and grunted. We will not be come again, pity as it is very local to us..

Visited last week. Staff unfriendly especially the guy who seemed to be in charge. Everything seemed to be too much trouble. One of the drinks we ordered was a vodka and orange juice. The juice was poured from a cheap carton, it tasted awful. Everywhere looked dirty, the seats and tables were stained, the ladies toilet filthy.

Started to write a review then thought I can’t really be bothered, staff not bothered with decent service, chef/cook not bothered with interesting menu/presentation. The vue is only bothered with inflated prices for below average bland food. What a missed opportunity for a great venue.
