The View in Canterbury

Terrible Customer service!! Visited today and this has got to be the worst Customer service i have ever known. The young girl who served us had no knowledge of the items she was selling and when asked what the rough size of a regular portion of chips she said'I dont know'( us she talked so quietly it was hard to hear her! We were told to wait by the door for our food. We were then summoned to collect our food from the indoor counter by a very rude lady that was obviously the cook. She shouted 'come and get your food from here'. Absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AT ALL!! But I must say the Chips were lovely and good size portions and the cod was lovely and white. I definitely won't return here as the lack of customer service put me off!!

We came down to Herne Bay for a walk in the sunshine and a bite to eat. We spotted this place and ordered some chips and a battered sausage. The sausage was very cheap and mushy, and that was the best bit. The chips were pale and coated in oil. Some of the chips were still raw in the middle.

Had great chips here earlier in the year, came back for more! Had a delicious cod & chips for lunch. Great service, great location and really really good Chips.

I took my children for some food and was at the end of the day admittedly but the chips were mouldy and the savaloy was disgusting and smelt off. Sausages were ok. Threw it away as couldn't go back to shop as they closed straight after serving me

Ate here last year and couldn't have recommended highly enough. Returned today, our first chance since Covid and whilst the fish remained really nice, the soggy skin-on fries were foul and totally let the meal down. Please return to the traditional chips you used to serve. The girl cleaning was doing a fab job of maintaining the cleanliness of the outside seating area and was obviously on the ball.

fish was good, chips were awful lots of bad bits in them and soggy too! could do with some proper forks to eat it with not those daft small prongs we were provided with.

I am only giving 2 stars purely on the fact that the staff were extremely moody and they looked like they didn’t want to be there. We asked for a few things like a plate for the kids and they just made us feel like we were unconvincing them. We felt very uncomfortable. Apart from that the fish and chips were amazing but service let’s them down.

Lovely fish and chips . Crispy chunky chips and tasty fish. Best I've had in herne bay. Be prepared that if you eat outside they'll bring it out to you in a bag , so if you want a plate you'll have to eat inside. Great food.

A day at the seaside is not the same without some fish and chips. The chips at the view were by far the best I have EVER tasted. Not the pale soggy chips you normally get at the beech but these were thick, gold crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. More like good quality gastro chips Just what we needed after the bike ride from whitstable. Great place for fish and chips 👍

After a day on the beach we were hungry and took a walk to the Pier where we came across The View. We decided to order some food, and sit and eat it on the pier, but you can also choose to takeaway if you wish. The prices were reasonable, and the food was good and hot and was bought out to us in only a few minutes. The area is a bit noisy as you can expect with people wandering around, and the carousel music, but that did not put me off, and only added to the experience. I would go there again if I found myself in Herne Bay

Had a little trip down to Herne Bay whilst the sun was out... Looking along the seafront the restaurants looked tired and not busy... Decided to walk along the pier and came across this fish & chips restaurant. Was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it looked inside. Very clean,very friendly staff & reasonable prices. We sat inside as it was a bit chilly for the kids. But there was a lovely outside seating area,and of course there's a take away option. Very much enjoyed our visit and will make it a regular place to eat. Thanks.

Food from a "kiosk" is not always that memorable, but we all agreed that the fish and chips from this establishment were the best ever. We have returned and will do so again. Attentive staff. Fair value for money.

Lovely place to sit down for lunch with great views from the pier along the coast. The fish and chips are very good too, and the service is excellent. Good value excellent food, with views to top it all off!

A great experience, very friendly staff, the coffee is great and the fish and chips are cooked fresh so a wait is inevitable. Highly recommend this cafe with views along the coast to the Isle of Sheppey in the West to Reculver Towers in the East and see the wind farm in the Thames Estuary. On a pleasant Sunday you can sit an watch the dinghies sailing from the two sailing clubs. We are regular users of The View and go there especially for the coffee and food. The staff always have a friendly smile for us and we are assured of a warm welcome.

Staff are very nice and make a lovely coffee , only small inside but nice and you can get out of the cold and still have a sea view.

We really enjoyed our fish and chip lunch here - it was great to be able to eat inside while still on the pier. On a warmer day we would have sat outside. The food was excellent. I shared my portion of cod and chips with my 4 year old daughter - there was plenty for us both.

We were with our two grandchildren who were hungry. We chose this lovely cafe for it's location, the surprise was the excellent quality of the food. The children's meals were well priced which included a drink. My fish & chips were perfectly cooked as was my wife's scampi. Great decor along with an unbeatable view. It's well worth a visit.

Probably the best cod and chips I have ever had. Easy to say of course but having sampled most of the local chip shops this one stands out.

Don't expect a welcome or polite experience if you ever visit the view restaurant on Herne Bay Pier. I was alone with my 6 dogs so obviously couldn't enter the premises. There were 2 waitresses on duty as well as a chef. One of these teenage girls was chatting to her friends and totally ignoring me. I politely requested to the other waitress if she could come outside to take my order as I had dogs with me. Well the look on her face meant I should have been 12 feet underground. She eventually took me order with very bad grace. I told her that I would be sitting outside if she could bring my food to me. After half an hour I asked where my food was and found that it had been sitting on the counter getting cold. On my second request she did bring my food out which was nearly cold. I would have complained but she rushed back inside the shop before I could say anything. I have been to many establishments with my dogs and have been served outside with very good grace and manners. I Definately will not be purchasing food from this establishment and will warn my other doggy friends that this establishment is totally Unfriendly To a Dogs and Their Owners.

Please try the new fish and chip hut towards the end of the pier we visited there last week and have to say it was the best fish and chips we've ever had and lovely clean surroundings and such a warm welcome we try and support the pier whenever we can but will definitely be returning to this lovely fish and chip restaurant you can eat outside or inside and watch the world go by.

service was amazing very fast! Lovely staff always smiling! Coffee is to die for! I must admit The View is the BEST FISH AND CHIPS In Herne bay by far! Defiantly will be returning 100%! Who would of thought girls could run a fish and chip shop! Girl power keep up the good work!

Wow, newly opened and what fantastic food. The cod was white and the batter fluffy and the chips were to die for. Reasonable prised too. If you go to Herne Bay Pier, you must try this fish & chip shop.

Where do I start. Very expensive and child size portions. Half a cod is served instead of a full cod. Complained to staff. You get a handful of chips in a box. Battered sausage was pink/undercooked. 2nd complaint to staff. Be careful of the chairs they provide- a baby got his legs stuck in the back rest.
