The Victoria Pub in Sefton

I have visited the Victoria Pub Southport all through the year and its a credit to the owners who run this establishment.Great service,great entertainment all year round,good food!I am looking forward to my next visit!Southport has so much to offer for families/couples.

It wasn't a brilliant experience at all tbh, didn't smell very clean on entering and staff didn't engage at all during service.

Spot on in every respect - great prices, staff & very clean. COVID-19 guidelines followed to the letter. Thank you 😊

My twin brother Stephen and I dropped into The Victoria Pub and what a lovely visit.Walking ‍♂️ in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, a light and airy interior, an island style serving bar, nice decor and furnishings ,tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling promenade. We were here on a Friday afternoon, pub was busy, we gave our details of name, phone number or email address to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, we had a study of their real ale's and in the end we both opted to have Sharpe Brewery " pale ale " these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. This is certainly a popular pub, on our visit, the atmospheric was spot on ,staff maintained social distances for patrons and there were hand sanitisers placed at various points throughout the pub.My pale ale was really good, a crisp,well balanced pale ale with a big hit of hops, very easily to drink, a real ale style both myself and my twin brother Stephen are particularly fond of. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Victoria Pub is easy to locate along Stanley Terrace .Opening hours are;Monday to Thursday, Midday till Midnight. Friday & Saturday, Midday till 1am.Sunday, Midday till Midnight. A great pub,well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Walking passed one afternoon so nipped in for a couple of beers. Probably not the best decor but the beer was good, well priced and if the weather had been better plenty of seating outside. Menu looked good but we were only drinking.

Doorman is rough, agressive and rude. Maybe we needed to be off our heads. Wont be back. Normal people stay away!

We called in early on a Saturday evening as read the food was good but sadly there wasn't any food being served that evening we were on a long weekend away... They had karaoke going on so we soon left as never have I heard such a noise... Nice pub shame we wasn't in the area longer

We visited the Victoria pub on a recent holiday in Southport with our dog. The pub was very welcoming and dog friendly. They gave us a bowl of water for our dog and treats were available at the bar. There were plenty of places to sit with space for a dog to also lie down (need space as we have a large German Shepherd). We ate lunch there and the food was excellent quality. Would definitely recommend this place and will visit again.

Food is fab here , good portion size great value for money, family and dog friendly and football on every wall , heaven , going back next week i was that happy

This pub is well located on the Waterfront with indifferent staff and reasonable food which was not available on Christmas eve. ?They do however have a good range of spirits

with plenty going off---beer at reasonable prices as are the food which looked good---dj and singers on tonight---good atmosphere and a friendly crowd.

Popped in here for lunch today with a friend, had a chicken kebab and a portion of salt and pepper chips. Can highly recommend. Chips were home made and nicely seasoned. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again.

This is our first stop when we get to Southport. Lovely food .Lovely staff and entertainment from bill I am who runs the karoke which we all enjoy very much .Sunday's dinners are faboulous.we will be back in August and can't wait to visit the Victoria.

Popped in here while we waited for check in at the hotel. Not sure about one of the previous comments of dark and dingey because it's not. Plenty of room and a good food menu and plenty of drinks choice. We had a salt and pepper chip wrap, with salad and coleslaw, which was very nice. Other food coming out looked really good too.

We have been in there every August Bank Holiday Friday & Saturday in the last 5 years, usually around 9pm for a couple of hours, it's a bit dark & dingy & very loud but the drinks are cheap & very good (never had a meal there) & it's lively & friendly! To be honest there is nearly nowhere else to go in Southport after about 8pm as the whole place seems to completely shut down apart from the odd Restruant or Hotel! Really weird for a seaside resort, that is usually bursting at the seams during the day time???

Three of us went for a Sunday Roast at the Victoria ~ we received an amazing meal with lovely roast potatoes and five fresh veg, the mash was excellent as was the beef. We will be going there every week from now. It has to be the best roast in Southport !

We spotted the sign " Home cooked food " thought we will give it a go , well believe me it was spot on ,tasty big portions great value for what you get , would really really recommend to anyone ,we will be back for sure went Saturday 12th Jan , Staff so friendly, dog friendly as well . very attentive staff . we will be back with family now as this is our new place and we travelled from Crosby. Had wood burners that make it cosy . well done for being better than all the chains we have been to keep up the great work

We looked on trip advisor for a nice pub serving Sunday lunch where we could take our dog , as we were staying in Southport for a few days . We were ver happy to find such a lovely friendly place and spotless . The food was amazing and lots of it we had beef and turkey with soup as a starter for £9 95 worth every penny,will definitely be back .And. Very doggy. Friendly

Visited here Friday and Saturday great atmosphere Doorman was brilliant bar staff were ok, food was even better.

We just went for a drink, I was disappointed at the limited choice of Ales. The food looked good and the portions were HUGE.

Door staff karaoke guy eccellent bar supervisor terrible people skills never felt more u welcome in my life. Lived here last 10 years getting served by some nice young lad bar supervisor comes over and says charge them tourist prices never heard anything so disgusting in my life

We have visited the Victoria several times now and finally Ive sat down to leave a review. Sue & Steve the hosts are lovely and very welcoming. We have eaten the Burgers, the Cajun Chicken, Minted Lamb and all the food is exceptional for "Pub Grub".

went with wife and grandsons . roast dinner was very good with variety of fresh veg , roast potatoes and mash . generous portions .good price . would not go anywhere else when in Southport . Yes , the san miguel was excellent

Saturday night karaoke. I don’t partake myself, but my dad loves nothing better. The set up for the karaoke was brilliant, playing great music then a singer and so on (most of them really good)

Came here for Sunday Lunch with partner, her brother and his son. Selected beef dinner, wife went for turkey. Were advised that there maybe a 40 minute wait but as we were watching the footie that did not matter. Food arrived much sooner than 40 minutes and was excellent. Good sized portions of beef and turkey with fresh veg on the side. Roast potatoes could have been a bit fluffier on the inside but overall a good meal with excellent friendly service and a good price. Will be back.

Had the sizzling beef with rice and chips ......others in the party had fish and chips classic burger and Cajun chicken well nice food worth a visit

Well I have visited here 3 times now over the past 12 months and each time I have had the same meal, the home made salt and pepper chicken burger. Every time it has been fantastic. Two large chicken breast breaded in the salt and pepper seasoning. Never once disappointed. Not the cheapest pub grub in town but certainly a treat. IN general the pub id very nice, all live sports shown on the indoor large flat screen televisions, and a lovely sun trap spacious patio on the front where you can relax and watch the world go by! Also dog friendly so its a bonus if I am in town with my black lab! The last time I went with my friend whilst out cycling, and we ordered a side of cheesy garlic bread and also onion rings, the portion sizes are humungous, so much so we struggled to finish it. Will certainly be returning in the future. Cheers.

Always call in here when in Southport. Excellent beer garden out front to soak up the sun. Loads of seating inside and out. Beer is always spot on and staff are very friendly, even acknowledging us from previous visits albeit weeks since. Bar area and facilities spotless. Dog friendly. Would recommend to all.

Had lunch here today and will definitely be returning when we return to the area. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious!

Visited here recently whilst on a short break to Southport and so glad that we did. The food was absolutely lovely, cooked to order so nice and fresh . I had a steak, mushroom and onion baguette and my husband had the curry, we also had the salt and pepper chips and they are gorgeous. We will definitely return again soon.

Visited here every day of our stay, great drinks, nice staff and lovely food plus the best outdoor seating area for a sunny day.

We had a late lunch here. We decided to eat outside as the inside was a bit stuffy due to the hot weather. The table we sat at was in need of a good wipe. I had a wipe with me so, wha-la! nice clean table. We ordered fish and chips, as you do at the seaside, and waited. The service was resonable but the food was not very nice. The fish was drowning in oil and overdone. I was disappointed. The tea was good. I have to say the town/Promenade was earily quiet so it was probably not a good time to visit. I'd give it another visit.

We've visited this pub many times due to it being dog friendly, however will not be doing so again after the shocking attitude of the barman a week ago. Stood waiting to be served and he served everyone else that came up to the bar even though we were waiting. When we questioned him he was full of attitude! Shame really but we won't visit the pub again while he still works there

Well, this was a surprise. You know how it is? Finally find a pub to eat at and sit outside in the sunshine? Football on the many screens inside. A couple of drinks and some thing from the well thumbed menu. "What's your table number, luv?" "Well I haven't got one yet as I've only just walked in" "Can't take your order without a number" Go outside find a spare table, come back in and order, go back out, and a couple of blokes are now sat at that table. Well, it got better. The well-thumbed waxed menu had some different looking things on, mostly looking like 'ping' meals & stacks of stuff. So, bubble-and-squeak on spinach with poached egg and hollandaise sauce for one, and chicken breast on black pudding and potato croquette and spinach with peppercorn sauce for the other. Now here's the kicker, they were both absolutely delicious, and beautifully presented, both for less than £20. 'Ping' meal or not, (and i'm still not sure), I don't care. I'm also not sure how it worked, with the pub; I'm guessing the food was prepared by Hellen's Kitchen as it is advertised outside. Is that part of the brewery (Thwaites), or a franchised kitchen? I'm here again on my next trip to Southport. Decent pint of Wainwrights to accompany

me and my wife called in at the victoria for a drink but when we seen how lovely the food looked we decided to have something our selves are we glad we did.we both had the salmon as it was good friday !! and it was delicious well recommend . two weeks later we went again and had the vegetable lasagna also beautiful !!!!!

Called in on Good Friday for a drink, nice pub, pleasant staff. Football was on the many screens and later had Karaoke.

Excellent food at very very reasonable prices. Just a couple of things that stopped me giving 5 stars. Firstly the plates were icy cold so the food started to go cold very quickly and secondly the fact that the waitress started to clear away the plates for those of us that had finished while the rest of our party were still eating.

Called in here on a wet Saturday evening with limited places in Southport to sit inside with your dog- this was a good find.

Exelent food very fairly priced. Staff very welcoming. We have been many times and on each occasion have been made very welcome and served with excellent food at a fair price.

called in for a few beers but stayed longer than we anticipated, about 3 hours longer, good selection of drinks for the wife, good surroundings and entertainment, that good we called in the next night for a sing song .

one of our favourite pubs when we visit Southport very welcoming staff in this warm and friendly pub. The pub is usually busy and always has a good atmoshere. and by recent visits the food has always been of great standard. There are plenty of screens to catch up with the sport, but due to the loudness of the games its not always a good place to have a conversation. A very nice friendly place worth a call in for some food or just a drink or two.

the Victoria must be one of the cleanest pubs around...certainly in southport. nice relaxed atmosphere...the food from Helens kitchen was...

Visited with my son and will not be returning. We went in, sat down and I went and asked the young boy behind the bar for a couple of menus, even said please and was met with " we're not serving food as it's the chef's day off".

What a nice time we had staff were great put the match on for us only problem was they don't serve food on a Tuesday, we have been here before and the food looked lovely and we were looking forward to having our tea. But we will be back

This a huge pub well situated, the range of beers is very good and the food looked O.K too. There is a good seating area outside when the weather permits but on this visit it was an inside day, plenty of T.V's to watch the sport or just enjoy your pint. Staff are very pleasant and made us feel welcome throughout evening.

I visited here yesterday on a day out to southport with my mum, we popped in just for a drink but ended up going back for tea later as the food looked so good! We had the lasagne and the fish cakes and both were amazing, proper chips too! Will defo be visiting again on our next trip to southport!

Visited several times on a sunday afternoon over the past few months - brilliant singer in the beer garden - pub spotless inside and out. Not eaten as yet but food looks lovely and reasonably priced. Good range of drinks and friendly staff. Highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing treat on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Stopped for quick drink after doing touristy stuff in the afternoon. Sat outside enjoying the sunshine, not many places along this stretch where you can do that so ideal if that's what you want. Didn't eat but food that was brought out for other customers looked pretty good. Prices very reasonable too. Smart, clean, friendly pub, would stop off here again!!

Nice enough local pub near to the pier and Ramada hotel decent pub but not an atmosphere to speak of shame needs more people to keep it going shame if it closed so get down there see for yourself

This pub is ideal if you are looking for a great location, gorgeous food menu cooked to order, lovely staff and wonderful entertainment afternoon and evenings. Spent a few days in Southport and made this venue our place to eat and drink. If you love sport then watch it here.

I have once again had the pleasure of a visit to this pub.The welcome received by our hosts Steve and Susan Kirkbride was expected with a smile and friendly greeting. The bar and kitchen staff were very friendly and the food first class..Serving a great selection of beers,wines,spirits and Real Ales.Entertainment provided on each evening during our stay. myself and my colleagues had a great time.Thanks to all the staff for their efforts in making the week special.

Prima kroeg, eten matig van kwaliteit. Hadden steak 'rare' besteld maar deze werd volledig doorbakken geserveerd. Over de lamskoteletten een zurige mintsaus. De ober, invaller??, wist niet het verschil tussen de twee gerechten. Prima kroeg om wat te drinken en sport te kijken op vele tv's die er hangen.

Beautiful sunday lunch.Home cooked and fab price. Lovely outdoor terrace with singer on while we were there. Inside is spacious with screens showing sport. Dog and child friendly. Staff and patrons friendly too

I must say I was a little disappointed this time as the last time we visited we were very pleased maybe it was the time of the night.

Wasn't intending to go to this pub for something to eat as we had never been before but so glad we did. Main menu looked good from outside it was a Tuesdays so fairly quiet. Large modern interior sat at table we picked up the 321 menu wow three courses 7,99 we wasn’t expecting much at this price boy was we wrong I started with pate my partner mushrooms fantastic lots of toast salad and lovely presentation the mushrooms came with garlic bread. We were shocked how much and how good it started. Main courses plaice chips peas and small mixed grill. Proper chips beautiful fish and small grill was by no means small he was very impressed and by the end of mains we were very satisfied but we had opted for the three courses just being greedy. Sticky toffee pudding and custard and plum crumble again presented beautiful fresh hot and the custard was divine.. So at this point absolutely stuffed. Very very impressed at the quality and service here at this price. We will definitely be back very enjoyable mid week meal out.. Just great value

If you havent visited this pub then you are definitely missing out!!Its like walking back in time, the crowds of people who visited Southport in victorian times is shown in the pictures on the walls how lovely!!We went here on a sunday afternoon after walking around the town etc!They had entertainment a really great singer/guitarist it created a great atmosphere and piped music from the 70s 80s 90s to present day!!Karoake is on a friday!We had a meal here it was absolutely exceptional proper home cooked food at reasonable prices!!Most of the meals are around £8 to £10 each!We had a 3 course offer mon to thurs but you could choose 1 course 2 course or 3 course the cheapest being £7 the most expensive being £9!Wow!!it was so good excellent value and cannot wait to return!!All the staff were really nice!!Great atmosphere ,great pub!!!!

Has been while since s found Pub that seems to have old school pub feel about it.Massive pub, although quiet when I called in (mid-week).Staff friendly.Food... I had burger and chips, when it came out on it's own wooden chopping board and chip basket was impressed, really did look good. However, if I should have dropped the burger I suspect it would still be bouncing now, my car tyres would have been more tender and easier to chew. I suspect burger had been cooked sometime earlier in the day (or month !) Perhaps I was just unlucky but the following evening went elsewhere, shame as it was otherwise a nice pub.

We popped in for an early evening meal after searching for dog friendly pubs in Southport, we were not disappointed. A friendly welcome from the staff, reassured that our dog was welcome as long as he was on his lead. The food we had was outstanding, I had the Chicken Kiev from the specials board and my wife had fish and chips and a brownie desert from the 3,2,1 courses menu.All the food is home cooked, not the usual pre prepared pub chain stuff, compliments to the chef. It was, as stated, outstanding, really good food and very well priced. The cask ale also went down a treat, a bowl of water provided for the dog.The pub appears very clean and well maintained, We will definitely be back, it was a pitty we hadn't found this place before.

4 of us popped in for a pre-theatre meal and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The prices were modest but our meals were really enjoyable. Anywhere that can cook liver well without overdoing it gets my vote: delicious. We have already decided we're coming back, even though it's over an hour's drive.

great dog friendly pub in southport, we go to southport quite a lot and this was a great find for a dog friendly pub, welcoming reasonably priced and good food

Went here for food only to find kitchen closed, went to eat elsewhere and returned later. Good pub atmosphere, karaoke on Saturday night, (good quality singers) good mix of clientele all ages enjoying the night together, no hooligans or signs of any trouble.

Called in here a few times over past 12 months always had excellent food and service, good beers to (wainwrights bitter) most importantly our 2 dogs were also made welcome too - the bar staff brought them a water dish and a couple of treats when we got in.We had Sunday lunch which was excellent - piping hot and great taste finished off with lemon crepes and value for the money.We will be back again 10/10 from us.

Needed somewhere to meet up with our parents on New Years day in Southport with our 2 dogs. I had seen the dog friendly sign outside so we went in, we were made very welcome, we all had something to eat which was very good, reasonably priced and freshly cooked. The pub itself is lovely inside warm, clean and tastefully decorated, will definitely go back, thoroughly recommended.

Will definitely return here to sample the great looking menu.Meandering around with the dog, er stopped here for refreshments. Lovely and friendly, great atmosphere. Will return.

Went in on Xmas eve and had homemade burger and chips with salad and coleslaw went back in today and had the steak n ale pie, food is fab, drinks aren't dear and the staff are great. Going back tomorrow before we go home and to top it off it's dog friendly , 10/10 from us

I'd seen a review saying this pub was pet friendly so popped in for a couple of drinks Saturday evening, finished up staying until last orders, had a great laugh watching the karaoke, everyone (staff and customers) very friendly, real fuss made of the dog. We didn't eat but they do serve food

The reason we chose the Victoria was because it was raining and cold and was across the road from our hotel. We had cottage pie which was tasty but could have done with more potato on it. It took a while to arrive and presumed as it was quiet it was being freshly cooked.

Was put off going in by the look if the outside. We have always walked passed. On this occasion our friend said just try it. Food excellent, staff very friendly and accomadating and really good beer. Great atmosphere inside. Great Sunday Lunch

I know my singing ability is limited so don't want to make others suffer. Others don't have this belief clearly! To those of you who could sing I enjoyed your efforts, to those who can't please don't ruin it for everyone else.....

Very nice place to eat. The staff were very friendly. The menu is very good. It took a while to get our food because it was all freshly done. We had the added bonus of entertainment too.

Got invited with a few friends to try out "tasties" for the new menu at "Hellen's Kitchen" now at the Victoria. Hellen was the former chef at the Tea Rooms in Birkdale and has been at the Vic for only one week. All samples were delicious and if they are anything to go by the full menu is going to be something else. I have a copy of the new menu and it is quite varied, not too extensive and with reasonable prices. I am sure that Hellen's Kitchen is going to be a great success. Pob iwc, Hellen......

Food was spot on. Staff really friendly. Perfect place to go for pub lunch. Perfect place to sit in the sun also and enjoy a shandy. Loved it!

Always stop here for a beer or two when on a bike ride along the seafront. Great staff and a good spot when the sun is shining.

We called in this pub after our very pleasurable visit with the family to the hungry horse. We were waiting for a taxi and decided to have a drink in the victoria pub whilst waiting for a taxi. We ordered our drinks when unfortunately my son knocked a drink over !!!!!!! DISASTER!!!! We were told we could not have another drink!!!!!! I am 65 for Gods sake !!!!!!! It is the first and last visit to this hostelry and cannot believe the attitude I have NEVER been treated in this way!!!! No wonder this pub was EMPTY on a Saturday night!!!!! We were not doing anything wrong!!! What a pity that we were treated so badly!!! Both my sons were visiting from London and are respectable professional people as are we and are amazed at this attitude!!!!!! avoid this establishment at all costs!!!!!

Had a Saturday night in here on a wet weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed our time. Wife doing karaoke & staff very helpful. Following day went back for a meal which was up to our expectations though slightly on the expensive side. All in a great place for an evening out.

Nice pint, I haven't been here for at least 15 years completely different. Clean tidy and friendly. 30p surcharge for using a card which is disappointing but overall nice.

A group of four of us visited The Victoria yesterday and had a meal which was delicious - would definitely eat here again.

this is a big pub just opposite the pier it has a big out door seating area and lots of room inside, the thwaites dark mild is very nice , it does food at weekend and hand raised meat pies during the week, the lady behind the bar is very friendly and has lots of knowledge of the local area. she made a fuss of our Labrador dog .
