Left Bank in Sefton

Been to eat in the restaurant a number of times over the last 6 weeks the food is fantastic and all ways on point, one of the best restaurants in formby. Great service great staff and fantastic value for money I would highly recommend to anyone that likes a mix of different dishes.

Food was good but found it very expensive. Could maybe do a lunch special say two courses or smaller dishes.

As always amazing food, service even better. We try and go every other week and they really never disappoint. Hakan, Jeanie and the team cannot do enough for you.... throughly professional and friendly. Just love it

Wow this place is a gem in Formby village, friendly service,excellent food, reasonably priced and well presented. The prawn pasta is particularly lovely but I was spoilt for choice though and will be back for the goats cheese salad,duck wrap and lamb! I was glad to see the restaurant filling up their was a lovely atmosphere. You must visit and support the local businesses, I will certainly be back. Thankyou.

Well, so looking forward to this night out and the food with friends, we got here, and all was well until the starters come, most of the 6 peoples starters were burnt, duck spring rolls were black and fried to death, fishcakes were blacker than a chalkboard, however we did not complain and waited for our mains, I opted for the simple Lasagne mine was burnt, I tried 1 bit and chewed forever, that's it I asked the manager to come over and quietly told him about our starters and my Lasagne, His response was absolutely shocking, that's how we do it, I said but it's obvious overcooked and look at my girlfriends compared to mine as hers was ok, hot and moist mine was black ontop and sooo dry he said no that's how it is, I was so angry I then pushed it towards him and said you have it, he just didn't want to know at all, we would never go straight to media with a complaint as we always give the restaurant/ manager a chance to put things right, sooo rude that he must be busy enough not to care or regulars are just paying for crap food, I am a chef by the way that cooks only quilty food from scratch and no bung in the oven / micro rubbish, I was more annoyed at his attitude than the food and the whispering to his chef behind the counter as he had his hand over his mouth when talking I think he thinks I'm stupid and saying goodnight boss twice haha We would have ordered dessert x 6. My girlfriend and family and friends have been going for years on and off, so there is no stranger to this restaurant. It will cost this place in the long run, and at this time, when most businesses are struggling, it amazes me. If your food is not right, don't hesitate to send it back if you get crap/ burn food as its your hard earned money that keeps them going. Shocking attitude from the owner, however staff very polite and friendly, venue nice. Maybe 1 chef and 2 kids in the kitchen was hard for the chef.

We recently had a dining experience that was truly terrible at Left Bank Formby. I had high hopes for the restaurant, as it had great reviews online and came recommended by a friend. However, from the moment we approached the restaurant, it was a nightmare. Our dinner was booked for 5:30pm. We arrived at 5:20pm with the door locked. It was raining heavily, we could see the manager at the bar, and he could see us outside but did not come to unlocked the door. We had to knock on the door simply to make him open the door. When he opened the door, immediately he said well we open for 5:30pm. I was absolutely applauded as it was raining and what restaurant opens its door at the time you are suppose to sit at a table?? The manager was very impolite, rude, no warm welcome, just a miserable unpleasant welcome without so much as a smile or a greeting. The first thing I noticed was the music. A horrible arrangement of music playing which did not fit the restaurant at all. We were not directed to our table and merely had to find where we were suppose to sit. When we sat down we realized there was one seat short. When we explained this to the manager, he went on and on how I had booked for x amount of people. Ok, we get it, but just get on with solving the issue and making it pleasant for all. It was a very easy fixture by added one chair on the end, but no the manager just enjoyed moaning about rather than just solving it in a pleasant manner. Food took forever to come. It was slow in coming out. Waited hour and half for mains. Reason, understaff. Only the manager on and another waitress on a Saturday night?? When it came time to order my food, I had a steak fillet. I requested BLUE steak fillet. If you understand what blue steak is, its literally sizzle one side and sizzle on the other side and out the door. When it was brought out, it came medium. I mentioned this to the manager, and he said this is how we cook raw steak. I had to start having a discussion with him how this was incorrect. No, he just couldn't say “ no problem, let me fix it for you” he just went on to defend his rights. Steak was taken back to get a new one, only to come out raw, not BLUE. When he came to the table to check in, again I said this was incorrect, he shrugged and walked off, complete couldn't care less. The managers attitude was disgraceful. The Thai chicken curry was an absolute joke. Six to seven pieces of cubed chicken watered down on a plate with a stack of rice. Meals were very small in portions and most of the group left hungry. To make matters worse, when the bill came they actually added the steak fillet dish which I didn't even eat on the bill. I waved down the manager and mentioned we wouldn't not be paying this meal. He said fine whatever. I have owned my own restaurant and bar in the past. The priority needs to be to ensure the customer has the most enjoyable journey from start to finish. If something is not pleasing a customers you do everything in your power to focus on solving it, not debating it. Its not a discussion or a ego trip to please yourself as a manager, its focusing on the customer making sure they are happy. Remember if it were for the customer, your business wont be open, you wont get a salary and you definitely wouldn’t have a job to go to. When you step into your role or position in that restaurant, you leave all or any issues behind, put a smile on your face and make sure that customer is going to have the best time of their life. In this day and age, with so many competition out there, restaurant shut in a instance, simply they did not value their customers. Overall, we would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food was subpar, the service was lackluster, and the manager was awful and extremely unprofessional. It was a truly terrible dining experience that I would not wish on anyone.

Visited The LB for my wife's birthday with our two boys (young men) We arrived early but that was no problem to the owner and the LB Team. Can't thank them enough for wonderful night as always top notch food and service. Wasn't our first time won't be the last. If you come I to Formby, try the LB you won't be disappointed.

Came today at lunchtime for a Christmas Lunch the meal was very good and tasty I had Turkey with all the trimming which was followed by Christmas Pudding creme brulee also was very nice service was good all round good value

We visited this place on Tuesday evening.. Friendly staff and good food. We had duck spring rolls,pate and soup-all very tasty and nicely presented. For mains we all had a rib eye steak with Diane sauce-again...very good quality and you couldnt fault it! And finally dessert-creme brulee-OMG delicious!!! I have been to the Left Bank on numerous occasions as a couple and with our family and every time we have had a lovely meal. The service and the food are always of a high standard and the atmosphere great too. I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Food over priced for what you get, as for the veg, you won't get your five a day, you only get 4 shaved slices of carrot and two small florets of broccoli, so save some cash and bring your own ! no beer on tap, so a bottle of peroni £4.50. easy cash made for them ,since you can get 4 bottles £5.50 across the road, there is an offer on Tues/Thurs, 50/% but you it's up to you to remember this, the waitress will not remind you of this ! and there menu do's not have this on to draw your attention to it, the restaurant is noisey due to the open plan of the restaurant found it hard to hear my fellow table guest's, have to say the waitress's were attentive, will i go back Mmmmmmm No !

Booked for 3. Was rudely told booking was only for 2. Why , when it was 2 grandparents and granddaughter would we say 2. He was so rude and virtually accused us of lying about booking. Saying "his word against ours"!! All this was in view and hearing of the diners He said come back later. ! We'd travelled 10 miles for this restaurant, so weren't about to hang around the streets of Formby to return to this horrible place. So stressed about it now

I have never posted on here previously, but after last night's experience, I do not have a choice. I booked a table for 3 people in advance (myself and my TWO grandparents). On walking into the left bank, we were met with the manager looking us up and down and almost smirking. It was up to me to say we had booked a table, he was not opening the conversation or being friendly at all. He said, "Well it's my word against yours, I booked you in for 2 people and I repeated the booking to you". It is not like we were a table of 25 which may lead to accidental mistakes, itis me and 2 grandparents. Which the plan always was. I did not tell him last night, but he also repeatedly read my phone number back to me wrong over the phone, but after correcting him twice, I did not bother a third time so actually, he clearly was making booking mistakes. There was another booking with the same name (but her surname was in) and 3 people at exactly the same time. This could have been an easy mistake to have made himself but did not acknowledge this once, repeating it must be myself in the wrong and no one else. After kicking up this fuss in a half-full restaurant, my nan asked if he could not place us then, to which he raised his voice and said angrily "That is not what I am saying, I am working out what happened". You were not working out what happened you were causing a fuss and blaming me. I think it is worth remembering that you do not know what someone is going through, you have no idea the reason I was treating my two grandparents to a meal out, and if you did I am certain you would not have treated them or myself in any manner of the sort. I am a frequent customer however I can say for sure I will never be returning and would absolutely never give this man any custom ever again. You do not know what is going on in people's lives, so never make them feel something is their fault when it is not, or feel they are not welcome. Absolutely embarrassing and disgusting from the Left Bank Formby.

No identified vegan or vegetarian meals on the menu, therefore can only assume they do not provide food suitable for vegetarians/vegans, will not be visiting

We found this place following a quick search, our original plans having fallen through. None of us had been before, or even heard of it actually. But what a find. We luckily got their last table for the 4 of us. Oh, and it was a Thursday, more later. It's a lovely place and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The food likewise turned out to be excellent. We started with nibbles, cheesy garlic bread, and olives. Then for my starter I had the tempura king prawns served with rocket, and dips. For mains, the slow cooked lamb shank, and for pud, a Baileys creme brulée. It was all delicious. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, and we'd washed this down with several bottes of wine, finishing with coffees and biscuits. Re the Thursday thing, and double check their website, but seems on Tues, Wed, and Thurs, if you order (at least 2 courses) all the food has a 50% discount! This was a very nice surprise, and made the whole meal fantastic value. I mean, excellent food, service, and a big discount, what more could you want. We'll most certainly be back. It's a place I can highly recommend.

Overpriced for portion size and quality of food. Anti social noise and behaviour from some customers should have been addressed by the management but was not until mentioned by other diners. Not a good experience, will not be returning.

The service was really good, the staff are nice and friendly so you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. The food is tasty, served in a very timely manner and isn't too expensive which is great for Formby! So we'll definitely be going back!

This restaurant is most definitely 5/5, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, staff so warm and welcoming, the owners were both working the night we attended and couldn’t have been anymore attentive and friendly, food was outstanding and didn’t wait a ridiculously long time for it to arrive even though we was a large party, everything was piping hot and fresh. Very reasonably priced and there is an offer on at the moment fr 50% off food bill, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday which was an added bonus. Will definitely return to Left Bank Formby

We had an amazing meal last night. All the starters and main courses were lovely! We can definitely recommend the Calamari and the huge Burgers with gorgeous crispy chips. Due to Coronavirus it had to be a takeaway, but it was definitely Restaurant standard food delivered to our home. Gorgeous!

Every time I’ve been here I couldn’t have had a warmer welcome from Mr Esgin. He remembers that fact that I’m coeliac and never makes me feel like I’m being awkward with my gluten free requests. He always talks through the menu with me, and makes GF sauces available to me if I can’t have the ones on the menu. Also, the chips are cooked in a separate fryer so I can have them too!! The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about cross - contamination issues which means that I can relax and enjoy the delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Thank you!

The atmosphere was fine - a little quiet. The service was great; very attentive, friendly and polite.

We have visited for lunch twice in the last ten days. We received a friendly welcome and were able choose our table, as few were occupied. Service was helpful and quick. I had an excellent Caesar salad on both occasions, whilst my wife had different hot meals on each occasion. The food arrived fairly quickly, being freshly prepared and cooked. We just had coffee after our mains: I have never had such a good froth before, and the coffees itself were excellent. Delighted to see that a disabled gentleman was given required help by the staff on his entry without any fuss!
