Bistro Bar Med in Sefton

I don’t normally leave reviews but the food and service here yesterday was fantastic. Well worth visit with lots of veggie options.

Visited tonight, food great, service very good would recommend. Had meze of mixture of Greek and Spanish as vegetarians a lot of choice thank you

Fabulous restaurant. Host and waitress service was 100%. Food was fantastic. Beer on draught was quality. Best in town by a long way.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Bistro Bar Med, we were visiting Southport and hadn't really planned our evening meal so were delighted to find this amazing restaurant. A warm welcome, helpful staff giving us ideas on the courses (always useful to have guidance on the number of tapas dishes to share) and fantastic food. I just hope we have the chance to visit again!

We were greeted with a friendly face, the service was impeccable. Recommended food and wine by Gino the owner. He’s lovely, really friendly atmosphere very family feel to it. Being Italian and coming from the similar sort of background I felt at home. Will definitely come back again

Came 3 weeks ago ,Great place , hosts (Gino ) was spot on really helpful and pleasant , helped us order the right amount and the tapas was beautiful, also the deserts were to die for . We were served warm bread and water on arrival on the house . And I got engaged with a bit of history over the murals on his wall , brilliant !! We will be back to try the Turkish mezzi next time , really really good old customer service here and the price is very reasonable. Well done and thanks Andy and Cath

Another fine meal a Bistro Bar Med. To be greeted like an old friend, have the menu explained, and then have a delicious meal placed in front of you with a flourish is priceless. Thanks again to all.

A cool glass of water was waiting for us at our table when we got there which was a nice touch. The menu choices looked really interesting, and we decided to order Turkish meze dishes. Our waitress recommended the number we would need and she was spot on. The wine was well priced, and the food was absolutely delicious, fresh and very tasty, and some of the best Turkish food we have ever had. The owner (?) and waitress were friendly and attentive, but not invasive or pushy. For a small venue, the variety and quality of food far exceeded our expectations, and we would highly recommended it to anyone. We will definitely return.

Absolutely amazing food with equally great service and fantastic ambiance. Hospitality was great with nice family feel. I highly recommend visiting Bistro Bar Med and look forward our next visit!

Drove over this afternoon from Blackpool to play crazy golf in memory of my dad who passed in May as we had been with him before and played the crazy golf we left it till afternoon so when we finished golf we could go to this tapas bar as we'd been before years ago when we've stayed in Southport it was well worth the drive so attentative and the food OMG it was amazing we cleared every single plate and even had the desert even though we were already in a food coma this restaurant is absolutely top notch very friendly and even called me jo after he heard my friend and husband say my name it would be well worth a 100mile trip to eat this restaurants food it's that dam good I could happily of tried more dishes but was just to full lol

This a little gem of a place hid away on the end or Lord street, very Mediterranean' ish on the inside from a feel point of view and a warm welcome from the owner. The restaurant was empty save 6 people when we go there, something my daughter said was unusual and I think that occasioned the sometimes intrusive service. We were a group of 5 and the kitchen had no challenges in getting the food out in a timely manner. The food selection is Turkish / Spanish Tapas style and whilst being cooked from first principles, some of the food was a little bland, but that is being very critical. The presentation of the food on a circular platter was very easy to use and made getting the many varied dishes easy to get to. It is very much of the area, and the owner does a great job in interacting with the guests. Would I return here - certainly and it gets into the first division of where to go out for dinner when visiting Southport on the regular basis we do.

Staying in Southport for the weekend so we decided to book after seeing good reviews and it did not disapoint We were greeted by Gino and ordered the lamb, Spanish chicken and stuffed pepper all of the food was delicious especially the med bread. Our experience was excellent with attentive staff who were super friendly We will definitely be back and recommend to friends thanks for a great evening Lisa and Kenny x

This was our second visit to Bistro Bar Med and we received the same warm welcome as we did the first time. The food was outstanding and great value. We will definitely be returning again! 10/10 would recommend :)

A hidden gem ,hands down the best tapas ive ever had a blend of greek and turkish tapas , extremely well looked after by the owner. Would highly recommened

Lovely place, spotlessly clean, great food and service. Water was ready for us at the table then the server recommended we order starters. No rush for a further order. We ordered houmous, feta, aubergine which were all delicious with bread and complimentary salad. We then ordered calamari, prawns, chicken & chorizo skewers and filo feta parcels. Again all delicious 😋. The chef brought food over and then persuaded us to finish with baklava. Scrumptious. Decent price, would definitely revisit. Thank you

Visited whilst on a weekend trip to Southport and whilst looking around we happened upon Bistro Bar Med. Firstly the staff were great. Very friendly, very attentive but not over bearing. The food was absolutely delicious and really reasonably price especially given the portion sizes were very generous. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and I would highly recommend it.

Always a pleasure visiting Bistro Bar Med. It is a very welcoming place and you are treated very well. Gino is a brilliant host, great sense of humour and likes to make sure everyone is having a lovely experience in there. The food is excellent, with many different choices of starters mains and deserts or also a huge choice of the best Tapas about. The restaurant is located in a great central area in Southport so perfect location to have some food before you head out for an evening. The restaurant is very cosy, makes you feel like you’re at home whilst receiving the good service. I would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Southport.

My friend and I dined here on Saturday night. We were given a very warm and friendly welcome. We ordered tzatziki dip to start, 5 mezze/tapas then homemade baklava for dessert! The food was delicious and the service attentive and professional. The restaurant is so clean too :) We’ll definitely be back!

What can I say, the staff members, young waitress' were very helpful and kind. So this review is not aimed at them as they did a great job! Hence the 2 star. We were a large table of 15 and I think this caused the restaurant to lose its head so to speak. Food was extremely slow, we waited 2 hours for tapas to arrive, and on arrival when we asked about the long wait time. The response was that WE the customer were at fault for not pre-ordering. Of which noone was informed beforehand to do. The owner was egotistical, anyone could see that. And so took no accountability of his faults. Some of them being: rude to customers. For example he called a gentleman a little b**ch which made everyone quite uncomfortable. The owner knew he was at fault as he went and hid in the back for a good long while, unacceptable behaviour. At one point I was challenged directly about my own expertise of running a business etc as he has been quote "doing this for 44 years." If this was the case then why was everything so poor? I myself run a successful business of which customer service is paramount and would not EVER have acted as this quote on quote business owner did. On another note the food itself was tasteless and bland. Halloumi and calamari were overcooked and rubbery. The only other good thing was that one of the lovely waitress' made a nice fuss over my brother in laws birthday. I will never ever, go to this restaurant again. I do not recommend. I think the owner needs to learn how to speak to people and how to keep a brave face on when things aren't going well. Not make out the faults to the customer. Maybe then will a 5 star review come your way

Absolutely wonderful experience at Bistro Bar Med! The service was top-notch, and the tapas, especially the hummus and tzatziki, were simply delicious. The atmosphere, truly transported me to the Mediterranean.

Stayed overnight in Southport with friends to play in golf comp , and chose Bistro Bar Med to eat as a couple of friends were vegetarian. Great decision👍 Food was delicious, great choice on menu, great friendly service, value for money🙌 Overall, great evening! Thank you guys , we will be back 🥂

The staff couldn't have done enough to make us welcomed. The food was very nice indeed but the atmosphere was leaving because the place was literally empty on a Friday evening at 6pm. Hopefully more people will give the place a go, as it thoroughly deserves supporting.

We decided to go to this place after the reviews; however, it all seemed a bit off. After being offered the draught beer, we took them up on it. Only to be told they had run out… The food was okay, but there did not seem to be much there; one of the items seemed to be a bit of tinned spam! The food was okay but did seem frozen. Maybe we visited on the wrong day however we were the only two in the whole place, we were keen to leave just due to the atmosphere and the lack of it. The downside to this was that the waiters there constantly on the back of us

My family and friends enjoyed a very special birthday spread here, the whole experience was a total joy. The staff were so welcoming and efficient and the food was delicious. Really, it just could not be bettered. They even managed to remember all our names, no mean feat when there was thirteen of us! I absolutely recommend this restaurant, it's a rare jewel that supplies a delightful and relaxed atmosphere alongside scrumptious food.

Attended a birthday lunch last Saturday.The food was excellent..and plentiful.The owner and staff were wonderful.Nothing was too much trouble.

We had an amazing experice. All the dishes we had was perfectly cooked. NIce, warm decor and great service. U can't ask for more. Will be back soon to try the rest of the menu.

Booked a table for 12 for a large family occasion. The food was fabulous and the manager was brilliant...even helping the kids pick dishes that they would like. Would definitely return.

A disappointing experience. We arrived full of expectations having read positive reviews but left feeling sad that what we had didn't live up to what others had reported. The hummus shared plate was nice with warm bread and a tasty salad. We enjoyed that. We then ordered squid, prawns, and spicy potatoes. The prawns were nice, and the potatoes good. But the squid was inedible. The coating was soft and spongy, a bit like the texture of an donut. The squid itself was strange. It was also spongy, not the usual texture. We both tried to scrape off the coating and eat a piece but we ended up leaving the rest. The waiter, a really nice bloke who was extremely friendly and welcoming, saw that we had hardly touched the squid and asked why and I explained. I didn't ask for a refund, and wasn't offered one. I paid the bill, left a 12% tip because the rest of the food was okay and the guy was pleasant. Perhaps it was because we arrived late and the place was about to close. We were the only customers in the restaurant when we arrived, during our meal, and when we left.

Went this evening four of us. What a fantastic place. Staff great. The food was fantastic, everything so tasty. Will be definitely going back.

Showman. The food was not fresh.If you have ever tried real spanish/turkish/greek food ,you will easily understand the difference. The price was fair.I could easily pay more if the food had more flavour. You can enjoy the good service/owner effort to make you feel comfortable.

Dined here yesterday evening I can honestly say we had a wonderful experience from the moment we were greeted at the door to the moment we left. The food was exceptional as was the service. It was so good we are returning this evening to try more of the dishes.

Fabulous! Came here with some friends and it was a lovely experience from start to finish, great atmosphere and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend. The only issue i have is I can't buy the turkish delight by the bucket I would go back just for that.

Disappointing after all the wonderful reviews. We found it expensive for what it was - a few dips for £25 with not enough bread to dip in and when we asked for extra bread we realised they'd charged it on the bill. We also found the service fussy to the point of different waiters hoovering the table with a mini hoover twice immediately after each other. the main courses were tasty enough but the sauce swamped the few pieces of meat. If you're looking for value for money I'd try somewhere else.

Booked last minute for early evening. Arrived and table ready with glasses of iced water. Service was so friendly and relaxed and the food was amazing, Ate far too much as it was all so good. Would definitely recommend if you like good food in a lovely atmosphere.

Absolutely the best experience I have legitimately had EVER eating out. I'm from Manchester and me and my partner attended here and we've never dined like it! The host was so welcoming and put every single one of his customers first. The food was absolutely insanely nice. All topped off with a lovely man named Nigel who even paid mine and my partners bill who I hope sees this and I wish him all the best and thank you so so much! The night me and my partner had dining here will never be forgotten! Hope to come again!

Visited with my wife while in Southport. The welcome was very friendly and the iced water that arrived was topped up all night. We choose a decent Malbec at a decent price. The dip and tapas we picked were all delicious and filled us up (we picked 5 tapas between the two of us) The host was jolly all night and went out of his way to ensure we were having a very good time. Would highly recommend.

Went here for my partners bday with son wife and granddaughter absolutely fabulous from walking in to leaving.. Gino (boss ) was everything could ask for he explained all what he thought about food but left with us also went thru the drinks very personal touch made us feel like family all night even brought a sparkled cake at the end absolutely superb well recommended well done Gino and all the staff... We will return 👍👍👌👌

What a fantastic little place this is . We'd no sooner sat down when there were two glasses of iced water in the table for us . A really varied selection of Greek/Turkish and Spanish tapas , which you can mix to get the selection you want . The food was really lovely and the owners friendly banter made you feel like you'd known him for years.. Top food , top drinks , top service , and the bill was very reasonable. We were only in Southport for one night , and so glad we chose bistro bar med , and we'll definitely be booking in there again when over that way.

Absolutely fantastic service, attentive and polite, always making you feel comfortable and welcome. The food is of absolute high quality and home made. I enjoyed our meal with the family and would definitely come back again and recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic little Turkish restaurant. We had a mixture of delicious tapas dishes. A choice of meat, fish and vegetarian. Gino, the owner is a great guy, and young Rose who is a new waitress was excellent.

Excellent food served by the 'baby whisperer' Gio. Really enjoyed our meal here and it was the first time we've been able to bring out daughter out but we felt at ease here. Will return next time we're in Southport!

We made a booking direct over the phone and paid a deposit in advance. I was so impressed by this Southport gem - The food was 10/10 and the service was unbeatable. We were so impressed by the portion size and quality of food, I highly recommend the Sangria. The team were lovely, welcoming and helped us to navigate the menu.Bistro Bar Med is a small eatery but we felt comfortable and it offered a relaxed environment. It was nice clean and the toilets were also well presented and clean. The deposit we paid during booking was reduced from our final bill. We will definitely be returning to Bistro Bar Med and highly recommend.

Our third visit to Bistro Bar Med, and a glorious sunny Sunday day was rounded off with an evening at this little gem of a restaurant. Mine Host Gino was a very busy man, with plenty of bums on seats. The service was as swift and as efficient as we wanted, and the sumptuous feast maintained previously lofty standards. The tapas proved popular again washed down with the house sangria. Value for money and if you're in Southport and haven't visited Bar Med, you are missing a trick.

I have known Geno & Lisa since they opend bar med they make you feel very welcome like a family atmosphere the service it first class with excellent menu fantastic fresh food I highly recommend an evening there you won't be disappointed
