The new landlords could run a masterclass titled, "How to ruin a successful community pub in no time at all" This place used to be a buzzing community pub full of friendly locals who would always make newcomers or one off visitors feel welcome. In fact this is part of the reason we moved to Binfield as a friendly village pub was part of the decision making process. Since the new landlords have taken over they have systematically ruined the atmosphere by removing bar stools at the bar, placing tables right next to the bar and generally driven any of the regular locals away. This has resulted in a quiet pub that has lost its soul. I'm not sure if this has been a conscious decision to change the clientele, but it seems like they have done this deliberatly. Saturday and Sunday afternoons were always busy, and you'd have been lucky to get a table however the complete opposite happens now, you could have your pick of any tables in the pub because its empty. I understand that Sky sports for pubs is expensive, but I feel it was a silly decision to remove this, as the number of people in the pub watching sport would surely have covered some or all of the cost and more. Now they just have some random 'atmosphere' tv with no real benefit at all. The Binfield Club and Stag & Hounds must be rubbing their hands in glee as the regulars have started to move on to them. With the Jack O'Newbury re-opening soon, I fear the Vic will be another of the statistics you read about with pubs closing at an alarming rate in the UK. These guys really need to know their audience and understand what makes a pub a pub. Not really sure what their strategy is, but it's definitely not working.

Still a great local, where the beer is top quality. The owners spent a lot smartening up the garden over the Summer, it looked lovely, and with Winter approaching we look forward to that roaring fire.

Once a great local popular, friendly, and welcoming to all. NOW: 1. "management" not interested in the regulars, just want to bring in new customers, even though most won't return or will only visit very occasionally 2. Sunday night Quiz, moved from Weekly at 8 p.m. to alternate weeks at 7. Not surprising that the numbers are down! 3. Nonstop "Atmosphere TV", shows the same old loops repeatedly, and advertises weekly Sunday quiz at 8 p.m. (See above) 4 Seating arranged in such a way that it's almost impossible to get a table for four, unless you want to sit around a table placed in such a way that only 3 sides can be used. Other popular areas, popular with the regulars that is, completely rearranged to ensure those very same regulars can no longer sit where they want. 5 Sunday lunch - Roast served as a Trio of meats, whether you want the three or not. No swapping allowed; you get the three meats but can opt to have just two, however there's no extra if you do. AND "Best of All" the meats are served to share. That's right, one large plate with food on for you to fight over. 6 Loyal staff treated with contempt, even more so than the regulars are. Many have left and some who were previously not up to standard have rejoined and are as "good as ever". 7 On the night we visited 2/3 of the bar was closed for a private function from 6.30. Regulars were squeezed into a small rea and the Marquee, which was to be used for such events, remained unused. We left. The Binfield Club and The Stag and Hounds must be laughing their heads off. The soon to reopen Jack O'Newbury can hardly fail when their only competition is a pub that doesn't want regulars. Most pubs close because of poor trading conditions, The Vic is trying to buck the trend and close when things are buoyant, bur the management hopelessly out of touch.

I booked lunch at The Victoria Arms for a group of 12. As this was the first time any of us had been here, I was unsure of the service we would get, or quality of food. However, from the moment we arrived, the lovely, young staff were so polite and friendly. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the room we had lunch in was quite quirky with beer bottles on shelves amidst the wooden rafters. When the food arrived, it was hot and delicious - and plenty of it. Real value for money. I can highly recommend The Victoria Arms.

This pub has numerous good points, but........ Staff who don't always know the catering hours. We called in advance and were told, yes, we're serving food and there are free tables. When we arrived 15 mins later "Sorry, the kitchen is closed"! On a different night, we ordered from the full and interesting menu; after a long wait, "Sorry , we have no chicken". We had to re-order and more than an hour later our food started to arrive. No explanation for the delay! Sorry guys, a lukewarm review. You've a good place, but you do need to do a bit more for your dedicated public.

Myself and two colleagues return to the Vic every year when our work takes us close by. We even search hotels based on a getting a few cosy nights at what we all very fondly rate as a "great little boozer". Last year we were late arriving and phoned to check we'd beat the kitchen deadline. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were fed before bedtime. We'll be back. A particular favourite element is the cute sunken bar in the middle of the pub. Terrific.

Second visit to this pub. Brought our dog with us after afternoon stroll. Sat at table with dog on lead sat underneath. We were asked to move as the marea is a "no dogs area" due to kitchen being close by. Fair enough. Returned last weekend to find someone else sitting where we did, with their dog, and not a word said to them. They must be regulars! Then 2 other dogs strolling around, no leads on. One actually went into the kitchen, and strolled by people trying to eat. Felt this was double standards and unhygienic as well

We had a fabulous time at New Year's Eve. We knew we were getting a live band and a buffet and frankly for £15 that was a pretty good deal, given the cost of lots of other options more locally to us. The music was great - a good range of songs, well planned and with a good set of anthems and general dancing music. We've heard local bands before but the equipment that this band was using was superb: I've never before seen a guitarist with a wifi loop that meant that he could come round the pub and still play, and the balance of sound was excellent. I'd brought ear plugs with me because I thought it might be too noisy (had had that on a previous visit) but didn't need to use them and came away singing and without my ears ringing. Lots of people were there having a really good time, LOADS of dancing, and people in fancy dress. The buffet wasn't too carb based at all - there were three different main courses (a chilli, a sweet and sour and a veggie pasta and spinach) plus rice and poppadums. As I'm dieting, I was delighted to be able to have rice and sweet and sour. Would definitely come again, and would have the courage to dress up next time!

We booked for an 80th Birthday Sunday Lunch for 13 people. Despite booking 3 weeks in advance they where completely unprepared for us. They were unable to offer enough starters (not even the soup of the day - leek and potato - Please!!). So we abandoned any thought of starters. We then waited in excess of an hour and a half for the roast Sunday dinners we ordered. When it finally arrived it contained very little meat, most of which was fatty and inedible cold carrots and dry roast potatoes. Not a parsnip in sight! We asked about desserts but they had nothing to offer us. A birthday celebration was completely ruined. Needless to say they felt unable to charge us of this complete fiasco, but that does not make up for a birthday celebration completely ruined. It was the worst dining experience I have ever had!!

OK quality chilli and pasta provided as part of the ticket and evening entertainment on new years eve but nothing to rush back for more. Band was really good and the bar staff were lots of fun. Parking limited.

We went from office last week to this place for lunch and it was a real pleasure. Nice little place with lovely people to serve and amazing food to try at affordable price. Good menu options and would recommend to try it out if you are bored with office food or want to go as a couple to enjoy lovely lunch or dinner. Hidden gem for sure.

Just driving past and this was a bit of a find. Lovely decor and excellent menu. Really enjoyed our food and would definitely go again if in the area.

Not been for a while so thought I pop in to have lunch with a friend. The food was excellent and service fantastic, really made to feel welcome. What a lovely pub, also outside covered area which is always handy, will be returning and soon, well done.

Just moved to the area and herd great things about this pub. Popped in to have a drink and watch the football. Ended up having lunch, food was fantastic and the service was great. Will defiantly be setting this as my new local.

Restaurant smells old. Service was really slow. Food was bad, but we were so tired it was eat or go hungry before sleeping in the Premier Inn. Car Park had many signs warning of Car Thieves Operate in this Area and Police Hotspot etc, I was genuinely a little nervous parking my car there.

Was the first time i been into this pub, was lovely walking in, greeted by polite staff, who helped find a table for us, caroline the lady behind the bar, she was lovely, made sure we had everything we needed and was helpful when the card machine was playing up

A nice enough meal but service was lacking. Didn't feel welcomed at all. Reluctant to ask staff for anything, had to, not usual way when you eat out.

Just had Sunday lunch here and we loved it. Restaurant was busy and buzzy but the staff were still really friendly and efficient. The camembert was excellent as was my husband's pork belly roast. My fillet steak was a little overcooked but was very tasty nonetheless. It was our first visit but we will be back.
