Can't identify why but I didn't find I could relax there. Something was lacking bit I don't know what.

We had two takeaway roast dinner, My husband collected it. The food was hot and delicious. Meat very tender. Plenty of veg and lovely yorkshire puddings. Well done. We will certainly do that again.

Reviewed and visited a few local pubs in the area and this by far wins it by a country mile. Sunday roast I haven’t had better anywhere, it was amazing. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. I now visit every Sunday for a roast dinner.

Always the best Sunday Roasts. Plenty of meat and a large choice of Veg. Chocolate Brownie was also great!

Travelled from Liverpool for an 18th Birthday great night, food was provided by the host and there was a premier inn at the top of the road which was ideal.

Dropped in after work for a relaxing drink. Stayed longer - enjoying the fun, then instead of a planned takeaway, decided on 3 starters from the pub menu. Absolutely delicious! Thoroughly recommended 👌

3 of us had the bit of each Sunday roast yesterday, absolutely fantastic meal, lots of it with beautiful vegetables all cooked perfectly. Lots of extra gravy (bonus) without having to ask recommend this. Booking is a good idea, excellent staff, caring and friendly, will definitely visit again

Spit and sawdust , cramped , tiny little place , not ideal for parties

Decent local pub, great for lunch or catch up with friends. Does big portion of pub grub, nothing fancy, but good. The conservatory is lovely for a drink and it has a good atmosphere on the weekends, with special nights. The garden is particularly good for summer evenings.

It must be an unfortunate series of events for you to turn to this place. I was making a stop by this town and had a little over an hours to kill before carrying on my journey. I ordered two simple dish from the menu, which has taken them 50 min and counting to prepare. There was no update on order or any interaction from staff to keep the wait less painful. In the end, I decided to get up and leave. If you are in the village, I would suggest White Swan which is 2 min away. I hope this review was helpful.

Have no respect for neighbours. I don’t mind some noise, music etc but it’s not at a reasonable level. It’s been twice now in two weeks level has been unreasonable. Formal complaint being made to the council tomorrow

Only one real ale on tap which was rather flat and lifeless. Not much else to say

So disappointed as we were looking forward to a roast dinner. Table was booked for 2pm on arrival was informed there were no tables in the dining area but could sit on high stools in the bar by the door. Not acceptable as we are both in our 70's and I am unable to even get on a stool! The guy who was in charge made no apology and didn't seem to care so we walked out. Why take a booking if it can't be accommodated!

Really liked this place, the owner/ manager looked after us well. Unfortunately before he arrived a staff member stood around whilst I was waiting to be served, then as soon as a local came in he served him and another before me, even though he had clearly seen me and I was the only person at the bar.. The entertainment was great fun, and the drinks too.

Had my daughter's hen do there, great night.

Always have a great night here. Staff are friendly and Covid procedures were spot on. Although not the prettiest the beer garden had a good atmosphere and music was nice.

I loved the decor here- it felt really cosy and reminded me of pubs I used to visit with my family as a child. The COVID precautions were detailed and made me feel safe, the waiting staff were really kind and attentive, and the food was delicious! Thank you for a lovely meal :)

This is a hidden gem, really good service, properly covid secure and top quality food at reasonable prices. You must try the pigs in blankets as they are to die for. It's going to be a loss that I discovered the village inn today and it has to close on Wednesday for the lockdown. Make sure that you come here before Wednesday is my advice!! 😁

Wow umm where to begin: Con's: - Being asked to pay whilst eating even though half the establishment was empty & waitress never left table until paid. - Being told there was no hot water even though there was coffee on menu - The worst thing though was the appalling customer service shown by the landlady who made Basil Fawlty look like a saintly angel. Pro's: - Food was good!

Customer service poor. The attitude displayed by the manager shows she needs some refresher training. Displaying behaviour you ask your proprietors not to do is unacceptable Firstly we were not asked to do anything we were spoken to in a manner which would upset anyone. This was my FIRST time out since lockdown and had we been advised on arrival about how things were being done it would have been helpful, as opposed to being spoken to like we were children. Then for the manager to deal with this issue on your review page in this manner speaks volumes about her customer service. At NO POINT was I rude to either of you and resent the implication. I hope you were just having a bad day and that you don't make a habit of treating customers in this fashion.

I get the covid19 government guidelines but when the landlady of an establishment expects her customers to follow guidelines that she is not following herself its poor. False advertising of what could have been a really good day out for any and everyone who attended's mental health is not good! I've worked in customer service for over 20 yrs and would NEVER approach people the way she did!!!! And for her to condone her staffs ignorance when dealing with customers is unacceptable. To have a uniformed, affective approach will only be achieved by educating the owners of establishments like this.The food was sub standard too which just added to the poor experience. Will not be going back there.

Very safe to visit. Covid-19 prepared. Great use of space in the garden with heating. Friendly staff with great fresh drinks. Though a bit pricey.

I have visited nearly a dozen pubs in the area, since they reopened, and found that the Village Inn is by far, the safest. In the pub, and out in the conservatory, all tables are separated not just by distance, but also with large plastic screens. They also have a large outdoor, under cover, seating area. It is table service only, and all the very friendly staff wore face coverings. The food is, I believe, mainly home cooked, so you may have to wait a little while, but it is worth the wait!!I would, and have, recommended this pub to family and friends, and I am sure they won't be disappointed.

First visit for us and using the EOTHO scheme. Friendly welcome and good covid protocols in place. Limited menu but a good variety of pub classics including some vegan/veggie options. Food was tasty and portions good. Nothing super amazing but good honest pub grub.

Excellent first time experience at this friendly clean pub with added COVID protection screens inside. The seating both inside and the newly refurbished outside areas are modern with plenty of space between tables.We were greeted on arrival by Toni, who smiled through out and did everything she could to provide an excellent customer service. As a bonus the pub is part of the "Eat out" scheme so it was also fantastic value. Thank you and I will be back.

Friendly clean pub. The staff have made it as safe as possible. We had an excellent lunch in the garden. Even better value as the ‘eat out to help out’ discount was applied. We will be back soon!

Great night out with a good friend. Unfortunately Tom put a stop to it. Next time can you please check with your guests before making a decision based on Toms thoughts? You know who this is from! No spelling mistakes, no grammatical errors - you would expect that from someone who has had far more than 1 glass of wine, not as many as Tom suggested! I didn’t even do anything wrong!

Incredible experience at the village inn,I cannot recommend the food highly enough. Although it took a little time it was well worth the wait. The barmen come waiter was awesome , very helpful and polite.

Was there with my cousin to drink some coke and eat at 8pm. Because she was under 18 they said that she would be thrown out. At the same time there where kids who were not even 10 years old... And because we are not English they don’t accept our IDs and we need to bring our Passports. Can’t understand that! Very disappointed.

I enjoy my occasional after work pint here. Service is good, prices normal. Sadly I couldn't see any cask beers

Friendly music focused pub. No ales though!

Waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive. Had to leave as we were catching a train, asked for the order to be cancelled and had to deal with very rude staff who tried to insist we had to pay despite the long wait. The manager was rude and unwelcoming despite the fact that we explained our situation and paid for the drinks we had consumed in that time (rather than just walking out). Very upset and disappointed at this poor customer service and the way we were treated.

Fitted us in for a Sunday lunch. Good food, friendly staff. Ambience is a little quirky.

They did a Ska & Reggae night we heard about through Facebook so that's what caught our interest to try. Although surprised to see so many young people at such an event aimed at older generation we'd thought & they were getting leary & aggressive outside by the end of the night, around 1am but that's just 1 experience, it seems a nice, quite large pub on a prominent corner junction in a nice area

Had a lovely pint of stepford press cider to wash down a really tasty spicy thai veg burger. Sitting in the beer garden in the sunshine.

Rose & Crown closed so went in for the first time in a long time. No ale on at all, everything we asked for was off, only Kronenburg and Fosters 🤢. The excuse was that since the Rose had closed 3 weeks ago people had come here and so they kept running out! It's too difficult to increase orders it seems and 3 weeks isn't long enough, or perhaps the brewery don't want them to sell more beer.
