We have been here about 6 times over the past year whilst visiting The service is always brilliant both efficient and friendly We always have fish and chips ( meat free Monday) and it is always fantastic. The fish and batter are amazing! Thankyou Running Horse Look forward to our next visit and wish we lived closer otherwise you would be our regular Redlady

fab dinner but new menu is due not enough fish choice needs a little refub but the staff are quick and happy to serve x been going here for years plenty of parking and very spacious inside

A e course Christmas lunch for 85 people. The organisation for serving this amount of people was absolutely superb. The staff were festive, amazing. The food was very well presented, and was served together as a table. Hot food came out hot, and portions were generous. A very enjoyable experience.

Fish and chips x 2 was simple but excellent and cooked perfectly. James attended to us in a very friendly and professional manner. Excellent value for money. Marks for atmosphere reflect that it was early evening and still very quiet and isn't a crisis of the pub.

We had breakfast with our children. The owners and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was great value for money.

If I could give zero stars, I would. They have the most rude bar tender I have ever encountered! We asked for a table and there were only two of us, although we didn't have a booking it was rather quiet. She looked at me like I'd insulted her and scoffed, telling me, "No, obviously we don't have a table"... there were tables free with no reserved signs on them. I was shocked and didn't know what to say as the way she spoke and made me feel stupid and vile in myself for asking a simple question. I would never go here again and I urge other people not to.

Popped in for a quick lunch, and couple of beers. James was a star, great service, friendly and funny and an absolute asset to the Running Horse.

Stopped for Sunday lunch prior to visit to UK Lapland. We all ate Sunday roast. Both meats were well cooked, roasties and yorkshire pudding were nice. The vegetables could have been a bit softer and plates hot as the food soon went cold. We were sat by a door and it was a cold area (must be an issue as they have heaters dotted about). All in all it was a fair price for what we had and would recommend as close to where we were visiting!

Took neighbour’s lad for his 18th! The old chap won’t speak to me but spoke to the kid directly instead, felt a bit weird, old chap behind the bar, was lovely to everyone but myself! Used to take People with Learning difficulties there back in the day, staff were very helpful, not sure what the guys problem. It’s very sad to be made to feel really uncomfortable grabbing a quick bite. I live two minutes away, it’s really quite sad!!

We visited the pub for a quick meal whilst visiting the area. The food was really reasonably priced, lots of choice and the servers were polite and took the time to interact with our children. The best bit....we left behind our children's ipads and headphones and Kally took the time to ring around until they found us to let them know they kept them safe for us! Thank you Kally and staff for your kindness, it's much appreciated.

Was the first time i been into this pub, was lovely walking in, greeted by polite staff, who helped find a table for us, caroline the lady behind the bar, she was lovely, made sure we had everything we needed and was helpful when the card machine was playing up

Love the RUNNER, my home pub,what more csn a man want, reasonably priced, loads of Football and other sports, the restaurant is usually busy, a good sign, HAPPY AS LARRY, who ever he is 🤩

Kids pizza undercooked and burger overcooked and dry on a Friday 4pm , rest of the food great in our party of 7, shame, because nice place for a quick bite to eat and drink usually.

Me and my partner recently enjoyed a lovely meal at this pub, which was both reasonably priced and tasty. We got chatting with a chap called Richard who I think is a duty manager, and was very friendly and welcoming. We’ll be returning for sure.

Great place to eat with good options

Cally, Hannah and Richard are amazing staff and really made our visit memorable, the all of the food and service was excellent I would highly recommend coming here for a anything from a family meal to a nice few pints

It's alright. I'd like for there to be a few healthier options, and a few people I was with said their food wasn't cooked that well. Extremely good value though.

Very very disappointed with our latest visit to the Running Horse. I decided to bring my five children here for a quick dinner because I knew it had a contained park and the food was simple but nice on a previous visit some years ago. We ordered 5 meals two of which were from the Kids Menu advertised as Meal Deals. I was not aware of the Kids Meal Deal promotion and I was not prompted at the bar to order the drinks and deserts included at the time of payment. I later returned to request the ice cream included with the Meal Deals and I was told very clearly I should have ordered the ice cream with the kids meals. This was an alien concept to me as why would you consider a desert before eating your main meal? Regardless of this concept, the servers attitude and tone was really poor and unacceptable. The wait to order food was far from acceptable as the restaurant was half empty and, rather than serving the ten customers waiting patiently to order at the Bar, the Manager decided to wonder around aimlessly and stop to play darts completely ignoring his customers waiting to order. The Service at the bar was really shocking. A server called Amelia was really abrupt and seriously lacked any customer service skills. She clearly hated her job and rolled her eyes when I queried the children’s meal deal I had missed on my order. Amelia’s blunt, sarcastic response was “well when you walk into a shop and buy a meal deal you would buy it all at once wouldn’t you?” To this I responded “That may be the case but can you tell me where I would get a meal deal that includes ice cream as a desert?” To this I reminded her that I wasn’t in a convenience shop I was in a restaurant to be served. Amelia abruptly concluded the discussion with “well I didn’t serve you did I.” I found the complete lack of apology or interest to be amazing. In conclusion; Food - acceptable as it is exactly what you expect from low cost food Service- Really shocking with very poor customer service. Waiting Time- Customers waiting at the bar unnecessarily whilst staff are clearly not interested in service. Such a shame as I recall enjoying our visits in the past to this venue

The food here is decent (I ordered a Smokin Jack burger) ended up a little slightly over done, couldn't really taste the sauce in the burger. Service here is lovely for a family restaurant, wait staff are attentive and always on hand to help Atmosphere here while being a family restaurant is mixed with a rustic pub vibe which kind of works if a little off putting at times Overall for an easy lunch or dining out experience it's worth a shout and giving a try especially with the different deals each day too.

Table was greasy but the staff were good and the food was nice

Just as we were about to eat really loud music and some sort of bingo game started to play from the speakers. It was unbearable and no.one was playing it. We asked it could be turned down and were told no. In order just to be able to eat we had to move tables. It was still really loud but the speakers were a little further away. Like loud music but this was ridiculous in a restaurant at 5.30pm.

Stopped in after a day out at Legoland, the staff were fantastic and very kind and helpful, amazing with the kids and welcoming. Excellent park for the kids too. The food was delicious and came out in good time. Would recommend to anyone go too and we will be coming back.

Lovely Pub and Restaurant with a really nice outside space - Environment was clean and in a good state of repair - Service was very good and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful - Food was served piping Hot and very very Tasty - Two adults and a child ate and drank for less than £30 !!!! Plenty of car parking and a nice play area - I must say that the menu had a good selection and everything was very competitively priced - Well worth a visit!!!

Kally and Rob were incredible. So lovely. So helpful. Would definitely return because of them. Great pub, one of the nicest hungry horses we've been to. All of the team were lovely too
