Rose & Crown in Bracknell Forest

We had a very lovely meal here. Could not fault the food. The waitress was always smiling and very attentive. Would definitely return. Only suggestion I would make is to have some kids desert options other than ice cream.

Had a very good meal and drinks for my sons birthday, service was excellent and a great atmosphere, the Timothy Taylor Landlord Ale went down a treat we will return.

Beautiful pub with a nice, if pricey, menu. What could have been a pleasnt meal was ruined by servers who were downright hostile. If you can't even raise a smile for customers who were spending a considerable amount of money in your establishment you are in the wrong business.

I visited the Rose & Crown with a friend, and I should point out that we are mature in age, it was our first drink, and we were smartly dressed, I say that because it is important for context. Whilst there, I intended to book a table for six people in a couple of weeks for a celebration dinner. We ordered a couple of pints of beer, and these were put on the bar in front of us. I noticed that mine was significantly under measure, so I didn’t touch the glass which remained on the far side of the counter, expecting the barman top it up. Unfortunately, there was no eye contact, no pleasantries and he turned his back and started faffing with the glass-washer. OK, so perhaps it had been a hard shift, but not looking up, he ignored another waiting customer for a couple of minutes. When he eventually realised that there was custom to be had, I politely asked if my drink could be topped up. I was shocked to be told, no, it had been too long and that I could have drunk some. I explained that I hadn’t touched the glass, but he basically accused me of being a liar. Giving short measures is not only an offense, it is very poor customer service. Let’s face it, if I had had a swig, it would have cost the pub a few pence and I could have only gotten away with it once – But I hadn’t. The attention to customer service at the Rose & Crown was just atrocious. Despite the Greene King logo on the pub, this is an arrangement were the establishment is a private business and Greene King, apparently, only own the building, so they have little influence – but this type of poor customer service does damage the Greene King brand, and they should be concerned. Needless to say, I didn’t book the table for six – if this is the way that the staff behave front-of-house, goodness knows what goes on in the kitchen!

This place is absolutely exceptional. Reading through the reviews I can’t understand how anyone could rate this place negatively. Had two lovely ladies serving me who were very attentive and kind, who actually both had the same name which we found hilarious. It is often expected for small chain places to have run out of dishes because it can be so difficult to predict how many consumers will come and order it, then making it difficult to have everything fresh for everyone. The staff dealt with the lack of a few dishes in a very sophisticated manner. The atmosphere was so peaceful and everyone was radiating positivity. Definitely recommend, ignore the bad reviews and see for yourself.

Oh so disappointing. The pub was very quiet and the welcome good. Drinks served nicely. From then on things went downhill. lThe French fries were undercooked and no condiments were offered, not even salt and pepper. We weren't asked if our meal was saitisfactory. Give the Eton mess a miss - it was a clump of congealed cream with a smattering of frozen berries (frozen fruit in the height of summer) and a broken shop meringue thrown on top. It looked scruffy and tasted sour. The cafe latte was very bitter with hardly any froth. To crown it all they put another £15 of someone else's drinks bill on ours. That's unforgiveable and the apology was minimal. Can't recommend and won't be returning.

All credit to this place. We had dinner there on Saturday and it was one of the best meals we have had for a long time. The sea bass was amazing as were the garlic prawns and crab. Well done to the chef and staff.

Lovely chilled out pub to grab some dinner after a long day with the family at Legoland. Phoned ahead to book a table seeing as we weren't sure if it would be busy or not (Tuesday evening). On arrival staff were friendly and attentive and the food was lovely. A real gem hidden away from the main road and definitely worth a visit.

Went for steak which was on the menu but unavailable. I wish we’d left then, but we persevered and had two very substandard meals. Service, however, was good.

We were recommended by a friend to try the Rose & Crown, tucked away at the back of Ascot away from a main road, we would not have known it was here if we weren't told about it but glad we were!We and another couple went to enjoy 'Eat out to help out' and the whole experience was fantastic. Really easy to book a table online, when we had a query the staff were quick and informative on the phone and answered what we needed. Lovely interior and great outside next to a vineyard on a very quiet road, well kept and clean. It was busy but the staff were on top of clearing and serving the plates, it felt like a well oiled machine, all keeping covid safety in mind which was reassuring too.Food was great, fantastic varied menu and a great selection of soft and alcoholic drinks. We had heard such good reviews of this pub that we decided to walk there on a very hot day in August. When we arrived, we were a bit hot and ruffled and not wearing the best attire. Evidently, this was why the service we received was indifferent to say the least. The female server was lovely but the standoff attitude we received from her colleague was quite unbelievable. The food is very good and the drinks selection was too. But if you are made to feel so unwelcome, the food might well as been poor. Very disappointed overall and probably won't return, unless I decide to buy a Ferrari and dress in designer clothes - never going to happen.

Visited this pub on route to family as it was highlighted as dog friendly. Alas the welcome on arrival was not that friendly to my friendly labrador but we were permitted entry, surprising as they actually had dog bowls of water at the bar The staff serving our table were much warmer than the gentleman on the door and the sandwiches and wraps were very tasty and a good price.

Wasn't impressed when we came last year, many locals who I come across always say avoid this place but thought we would give it another chance. Sadly, this really will be the last time. Portion size YET AGAIN tiny, fatty poor quality meet, miserable staff and the place was filthy. We all walked out still hungary so had to nip to McDonalds, nothing special about this place.

Stopped at The Rose & Crown tonight for dinner and it was amazing. The fishcakes we had as a starter were delicious, as we're our mains. I had the ham hock and my wife had the sausage and mash, both meals were cooked to perfection. The staff were efficient and attentive. Two courses for £16.95, you really can't go wrong.

Understaffed. We should have been warned that there would be a long wait for food (nearly 1 hour for starter) when we ordered, not get an apology as we paid at the end. Fish & chips ... poor quality lump of coley by the look of it, with dry chips. Not the ‘fresh, locally sourced food’ that the purple prose promised. None of it was worth the wait.

Looked at the menu and there was a lot on it that I would have had. But the Mrs looked at me slightly disapprovingly as was there for a light lunch. So went for the sirloin sandwich. Very much enjoyed it - nice pink beef and good fries. All washed down with a lovely pint of Landlord.Simple lunch done well.

I visited at around 5pm on a Sunday evening. The pub has a very nice interior and felt festive and atmospheric (I visited in the period between Christmas and NY and the various candles and decorations were a nice touch). Service was quick and attentive. A drinks order was taken and menus were provided within a minute or so of arriving. Lager was very nicely chilled. We ordered roast dinners. Food was provided within about 10 minutes. It was decidedly average - in particular a minimal amount of meat. Ideally would have been hotter too. Overall the food was just about on the right side of passable. I would return to the Rose & Crown again but only for drinks (unless I’m comfortable the food is significantly improved both in terms of quality and quantity).

Some friends and My Wife and I went for lunch but were so dissappointed. The ladies went for Beer Battered fish and were expecting Cod or perhaps Haddock, but were given the ugliest piece of grey Coley you have ever seen! My pal and I went for the Ham Hock expecting a nice portion of carved ham but no, it was just a couple of slices from a sausage like apparition! Needless to say we shall never darken their door again. I suggest a walk to the Duke of Edinburgh two minutes away.

I have lived in area 20 years and didn’t know about this pub-restaurant . It’s part of the Greene King group . Tucked away in Woodside off the main A332 . You wouldn’t know it was there unless you were specifically looking for it Recently refurbished . I would describe it as cosy and quaint Out with girl friends for a pre Christmas get together on a Mon night Open fire , around 4 tables occupied and some folk round the bar Nice atmosphere , friendly and chatty staff . Good menu selection with the offer to have 2 courses for £17.95 Between us we had baked Camembert , poached haddock , ham hock , burger , chocolate brownie ,drinks and coffee With a tip our bill was £25 ppGood value and was a nice change from our local haunts Advised they do a great Sunday lunch but should book a table in advance We’ll be back !

Never been here before but arranged to meet with a client for dinner and this was a convenient location.Upon walking in the door it had a really nice atmosphere and the place was very clean with the tables nicely laid out. There were a a group of locals at the bar chatting and when I approaced to have a look at what beers were on offer they immediately shook my hand and made me most welcome and we then spent a good 20 mins or talking to each other but it seemed like we had known each other for years and they were most pleasant company.The client I was meeting then arrived and he to got invited into the conversation and welcomed like an old freind but we had to break off the conversation to have dinner. We both ordered the rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce and have to say the steak was superb and so tender, I also asked if I could have some onion rings and although not even on the menu the chef quickly provided some and they were excellent and could have eaten a huge bowl of them just on their own as they were so moorish.We then followed with sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream and again this was very good.Val was our waitress and provided excellent and attentive service throughtout our meal and we were most impressed by both the food and service, I would thoroughly recommnd this place and will certainly return, could not fault it.

We found this place by chance about a month ago and really enjoyed the food and ambience. We have just been back for a second time and were really impressed. Food was great, staff very friendly, lovely log fire and candles. My husband had mussels on both visits which he loved but can’t wait to try something else on our next visit,

Second time in a month coming here, food is excellent, however I had the rib eye steak and when I told the waitress that I didn’t get the sautéed mushrooms with my meal she informed the kitchen and that was I heard of that!I would still recommend this place and will go back.

We visited the Rose & Crown in October 2019 as a party of 4. We had a reservation, but ended up arriving early and the staff were very accommodating in seating us early. The atmosphere was great and it really had a nice, high-end pub vibe. Our food was good. It didn't totally blow me away, and I noticed that just last week (end of October 2019) they changed the menu and it looks more appealing to me now. That said, everyone was pleased with that they ordered, including dessert. I did think the wines by the glass selection was a bit small. Our waitress was lovely. Also, due to the menu change, the entree I'm posting is no longer available.

We go to the Rose & Crown for a drink on a regular basis after walking the dog but this was our first visit for dining.

A great shame the food wasn’t as good as the service and atmosphere.

Loved everything about this Restaurant. The service and food were excellent. We did have a reservation and glad we did because its very busy. The pub is in a cool location on a wooded street and the ambience confirmed I was in a English pub!

Excellent food well presented. Very good and friendly service. The Mackerel pate was just right with extra ingredients that really made the flavour Chicken Wellington not too heavy and again great flavours Rhubarb and honeycomb Eton mess absolutely perfect.

This was the second time we have been to the Rose and Crown. It was every bit as good as the first time. Almost all the main courses are appealing. The first time I had the pork and this time I had the chicken Wellington. My wife had the Salmon and then the cod fish cakes. They were excellent. For my starter I had the onion soup which was outstanding. The service was good and friendly. I shall definately come back to try further items on the menu. The total cost including wine was very reasonable at £122 for five (under £25 per head)

Very kind of the Rose & Crown for allowing my family and I to dine in peace, however I am not happy at whoever was tucked away in the corner, hiding unseen by our RPO’s as they dined, and sold the photograph to the tacky US media which with hindsight has spoilt our visit.

I dined here with my wife in August. Beautifully decorated pub, very modern and clean but blended with some old charm and character. Our food was nice but not great....Service was simple and effective. Would return.....

Appena entrati ci accomodiamo al tavolo dove erano già presenti I nostri amici, non ci portano né posate, né bicchieri, solo il menù, il servizio lascia a desiderare ma a parte questo che può essere una cosa su cui si può sorvolare, quando arriva il nostro ordine (un arrosto di lonza ed un hamburger) ed inizio a mangiare la carne che era dura e gommosa, sotto ci trovo una bella moscona morta mischiata con la verdura a fondo piatto, per fortuna che non l'ho mangiata! Ci è mancato poco che vomitassi nel piatto tanto il disgusto! Il proprietario si è scusato appena e poco dopo mi hanno portato un nuovo piatto, ma oramai la fame mi era passata e l'ho lasciato quasi intatto, una domenica rovinata!

We took friends from the US a few back for dinner and had a wonderful meal. This place is relaxing and has nice atmosphere, and we think the food is of excellent quality...yummy! A couple of weeks ago we invited friends for lunch and I was delighted when hubby opted for the Rose and Crown. It was pretty busy and the food was a tad slow in coming, but we were happy and relaxed at our table in the garden and the very friendly and professional host came to us a couple of times to reassure us food was on its way, not a problem to us and of course when our meals arrived they were perfect and tasty, yummy again! Now when I think of eating out this is the first place that pops into my head...I want to eventually go through the whole menu, not all at once of course! I look forward to our next visit.

My pregnant wife and I were looking for some pub grub after a long day of nursery shopping. We passed a sign to this place that said ‘food served all day’. I was met at the bar with ‘can I help you?’ as if my very presence was a problem. The superciliousness was compounded when I asked if they were still serving food, only to be told ‘if I have a reservation’. Guys, you are not Nobu or the Fat Duck. Even these establishments would go to lengths to put customer first. If you want to be, perhaps allow them to offer you some training sessions in customer service? Miserable, uppity, arrogant pub. I don’t care if you’re food’s good. Get OVER yourselves.

Popped in for lunch, a spontaneous visit but very glad we did! Beautiful pub, lighting just right despite it being middle of the day, it was very cosy. Great beef sandwich, enough for 2 of us to share. Reasonable prices despite location. We will return! Thanks to the Sussex Royals for the recommendation.

Have eaten here a few times , great food locally sourced, always delivers on service and value for money! The menu changes seasonally which is great, and the welcome from the staff is warm and professional, would recommend this lovely pub to everyone!

Great food. Three of us had dishes from the summer BBQ menu and one had a toast and the last one had the kids fish goujons. The pulled pork bap was reported to have been delicious and the ribs that I had were to die for: melt in the mouth tenderness and a lovely dry rub on the outside that had a delightful flavour where it had caught some from the coals. Staff were great. Loved it and would definitely recommend to anyone. Looking forward to my next visit!

Having read many reviews on here regarding this pub/restaurant I have to say for the most part i find the service on my weekly visits to be most warm and welcoming.

Friends of ours visited Bank Holiday Monday and were immediately told they were shutting at 6, and then unsurprisingly service continued- get the feeling that they want the locals only in this pub. Friends unimpressed and will take their custom round the corner next time.

We popped in on our way to a visit to a local hostelry where there was a band on. Although the restaurant was very busy our order was taken quickly and although we only had a simple hamburger each it was tasty and good value for money. Good service and nice ambience.

Nice menu not exciting but varied. No specials of the day and two items were off the menu by 8.00pm would give 3.5 rating rather than 3 but not possible. Food was freshly cooked and hot with a good drinks selection on offer. Tables quite close together but seated away from sitting directly next to others if possible. When busy rather noisy as it is open and fairly small inside. Nice tables outside for sunny weather.
