The Victoria in City of London, Westminster

Went to meet a mate for a couple of pints and Sunday roast. It’s a lovely old pub, and in fairness it’s probably geared up more to the tourists, especially as Paddington Station is just down the road. Beer was fine, bar service was slow. Roast beef dinner was £22, which felt expensive for what it was. Wouldn’t recommend.

I booked The Victoria for a lunch with friends before we attended a fashion show nearby at St John’s Church. It is a lovely old characterful place, we loved the dining areas upstairs. We ate in the theatre room, but took a peak at the library room too, both fabulous and cosy. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Service was great, nothing too much trouble when we a couple of friends wanted to change things up a bit. All of the food was delicious, cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. Everyone in our party of seven, were more than happy. We like the idea of mini puds with a choice of hot drink as sometimes a large dessert is just too much after a starter and a main. They were just perfect. Two of us actually shared a crumble and ice-cream dessert, which was great. Pricing is very reasonable for London, even the wine. On leaving, downstairs was very busy with a mixture of diners and drinkers. There seemed to be a lovely atmosphere. To dine upstairs, you have to use a spiral staircase which is quite steep for anyone with mobility issues. One of our group needed assistance but was fine with help. We would definitely recommend visiting and eating there if you find your self in the area. So glad we chose The Victoria

We tried several pubs, but the Victoria stand way above all of them. The food is awesome. The lamb shoulder is terrific. We went multiple times. The specials are great. The service was excellent. Glad to get to help you. The pub is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend this pub. Short walk from the Paddington station Don’t miss out on this place.

Stunning traditional pub set away from the main streets. Relaxing atmosphere even when a rugby Six Nations game on TV. The bar looks small on entry but there is an upstairs.

It's always busy after work but has a nice ambiance. I appreciate the very traditional decor and style. Good range of beers.

Visited again on Jan 30, 2024. Fantastic as usual. Had the Cumberland Sausage and Mash and Gravy. Excellent. Keep up the great service. Great service and food. The slow roast lamb shoulder is a must try. Get a table in the upstairs dinning room.

Fantastic pub full of original features, Victorian grandeur , great patrons and atmosphere, I just love it . Great selection of wines and beers, wonderful first floor balcony room with views , it’s like stepping back in time .

1월 23일 밤 9시에 예약 후 방문했습니다. 근데 밤 9시는 일본에서 14시간 비행 후 약 5시간이 지난 시간이였기 때문에, 실제로 집에서 일어난지 26시간 정도 지난 시간이였습니다. 그래서 너무 피곤한 나머지 주문한 음식을 다 먹지 못했습니다. 부족한 영어실력으로나마 미안한 마음을 전했지만, 다시 한번 전하려고 합니다. 음식은 지금도 생각 날 정도이고 진짜 좋은 컨디션일때 다시 한번 방문하고 싶습니다. 부디 쉐프에게 전해주셨으면 합니다. 그땐 영어실력도 더 키워서 방문하고 싶습니다.

Banging pub, impressive ambience, but above all, a great team- all one can ask for really!

Nous avions réservé une table pour 2 personnes et avons mangé dans la "Library" au 1er étage. L'espace est très chaleureux et calme avec un décors de salon victorien. La nourriture était très bonne et complètement en accord avec nos attentes d'un bon pub londonien. Nous avons pris 2 fish & chips(le poisson est de l'aiglefin), ils étaient très bien préparés. Le service est très sympathique.

Food was AMAZING!! Stopped for a drink to meet a friend and wasn’t planning on eating here but decided to order some stuff to share. Wasn’t expecting the quality that came out. Had the chicken supreme and was absolutely delicious. Definitely worth more than the price. Some more expensive things on the menu but really well balanced with some cheaper options. Super affordable and really nice traditional setting. Staff really friendly too.

Was staying in a local hotel due to work and found this cosy pub round the corner. Staff very friendly and even the landlord/owner made an appearance to check the beer was up to scratch. Lovely inviting fire place and the London Pride was excellently kept. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Sunday lunch is okay. Staff not so great. A lot of customers turn up with suitcases. After all it's a 5 min walk from one of the busiest railroad stations on the planet (Paddington), which happens to deliver passengers to one of the busiest airports in the world (LHR). When I asked one of the staff if they had any storage on the ground floor, I got the sarcastic, answer "this is a pub mate". I hauled my bags up a spiral staircase, watched others do same, watched a mother with young child haul their stroller up the same narrow spiral staircase. Most customers had bags. Smart ass "bloke" who was server - not customer focussed.

Excellent welcome and service. Drinks were good as well. Overall a great pub. Toilets were down a spiral staircase so go before you’ve had a few but other than that, great!

We visited for dinner and a catchup with friends we hadn't seen for about 10 years. We were seated in one of the upper rooms which could have been a squeeze but turned out to have plenty of room. The food was excellent and arrived as quickly as you would expect, something for everyone including a couple of fussy eaters. The staff looked after us very well.

Excellent food in this beautiful, historical pub! Sunday roast is great as is all the mains during the week. They are also very accommodating of my gluten allergy and had lots of gluten free options!

Staff a little unnecessarily aggressive to push you out the door at closing, but the pub itself is excellent. Great ambiance, great décor, oozing with history. Should be on everyone's great London pubs list to visit.

Love this pub. Had one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve ever had. Great service and super helpful staff.

We had our work xmas party here and the food and service were exemplary.

Visited for Sunday lunch with two friends and my little white dog. The entire team were very friendly, helpful and cheerful. The food was excellent. We were unable to sit upstairs as dogs are not allowed upstairs but the team created a lovely space downstairs for us to enjoy our meal. I can tell you the food tasted as good downstairs as upstairs! We would all highly recommend this spot for a Sunday roast!

Enjoyed an excellent pre-Christmas family lunch here. Lovely food and service. Very jolly festive decorations in the cosy upstairs dining room. Plus super convenient for relatives travelling into Paddington. Recommended.

Sicuramente l'atmosfera tipica dei pub londinesi premia, anche se i piatti tipici non rispecchiano proprio lo standard qualitativo unitamente alle birre europee che sconsiglio poichè alla spina perdono in sapore. Personale gentile e possibilità di cenare all'esterno e al piano superiore previa prenotazione. 4 stelle.

Ho scelto questo posto perché mi sembrava promettente e alla fine sono rimasta comunque stupita dalla bontà di quello che ho mangiato, tant'è che penso di ritornarci in futuro. La persona che mi ha servita è stata molto gentile e accogliente e il servizio è stato rapido e impeccabile, perciò mi sono trovata molto bene. Se passate in zona provate questo locale perché ne vale la pena, si trova poco distante dalla stazione di Paddington

My favourite local pub! Over the past couple of years it gets more and more difficult to find a space here without reservation. But do me a favour, book and be amazed with absolutely incredible library rooms atmosphere for your food and drinks. Trout with young potatoes is such a delight here!

Nice cosy English pub environment. Restrictive Gluten Free menu, items listed as GF are not available without prior ordering, and veggie meals have very small portions.

When ever in the Paddington area I always try to visit The Victoria. To start, I'm a big fan of Fullers beers, but the real reason is the food. It never disappoints. Today I had the slow cooked shin of beef. I've never tried this before but I'm glad I did. The beef had great flavor and the accompanying vegetables were excellent. Will definitely be back.

40min between the time we ordered and the time someone came to tell us some of the main we order were unavailable. Falsely advertised dog friendly policy. Not dog friendly. At all. Avoid.

This is a really lovely Victorian pub - we had booked a table for 8 which was in a beautiful upstairs room. The food was great and very reasonably priced - especially given its location. Would highly recommend

Pretty mediocre Sunday roast. Over priced for pretty average food. They also add on a hefty service charge. I liked the interior of the bar however - wish the food matched!

The staff and atmosphere are very nice but the food is average.

Charming pub in the heart of Paddington with a warm atmosphere. We booked a table in the Theatre Room upstairs for a Sunday roast (lamb shoulder and turkey breast), it completely hit the spot. Perfect to grab a pint on a Winter afternoon.

Classic pub. Very crowded, I recommend you make reservations well in advance. The food was good, the drinks were outstanding as was the service and atmosphere. Will be back.

The best part? It's so close to Paddington Station, making it super convenient for anyone around the area or stopping by before hopping on a train. In short, this pub is a must-visit. With its amazing food, great beer choices, and fantastic hospitality, it's a winner.

For a true London pub experience, The Victoria is your spot. We opted for the shepherd's pie and were only sorry that it was over so quick. DELICIOUS!! Nice selection of beers. Cozy and authentic pub straight out of the Victorian era.

The upper floor has a quite nice ambience for meet ups and dates away from the hustle and bustle of a usual pub. Not many table though, definitely needs reservation in advance

Barmaid was serving a table, saw me, I waited a good 5 mins for her to finish serving them, credit card in hand, she the. Served someone else that just walked in. Rude. Plenty of places to be appreciated and welcomed at £6 a pint. Won’t be back

Fullers pubs are the crème de crème. I have visited 162 Fullers pubs and to date there is no better for atmosphere, exceptional food and the universe best London Pride Hope do they do it. Wonderful and keep going ! Always my favourite pub before leaving London Thank you

Busy Fullers pub, went in Friday and incredibly there was a lady who looked like Queen Victoria in there

Lovely proper London pub. Had the Shepherds pie, steak pie, toffee pudding and crumble and all were delicious. Bit pricey but only little above average for London. Bar downstairs packed, upstairs dining area very nice.

Have to say, this is the best pub I’ve visited to date in London. The atmosphere was fantastic. Food/drinks were great. Really good selection on both sides and the pub quiz on a Tuesday night was such a laugh. I will 100% be going back.

Lovely pub, very close to Paddington. Very tasty food at very good prices considering the area (most dishes are around the £17 - £23 price bracket). We had the chicken supreme and ham hock and would definitely eat there again! Staff were friendly and very helpful (chap came over to fix our wobbly table!). As well as the ground floor where we ate, there's also a theatre themed room and a fancy wood panelled one upstairs.

Sad to say the management last night were blatantly racist towards my friends. This was confirmed by other guests who told my group that it was racist behaviour on the part of the management. Over £300 was spent in the pub and then they refused to serve my friends citing the excuse that three other customers had complained but when the white people in our group asked who complained they could not answer. Not nice and not acceptable. Response to Chris See how judgemental you are to assume the group were from the high commission. They were clearly not from there. We are not people who click fingers because we respect people. The group are hoteliers who are used to treating their customers with excellent service. You stick to yiur story and I will stick to my version.

Pub molto molto bello, con anche due sale ristorante piccole ma davvero autentiche. Birra buonissima e Ali di pollo piccanti ottime, inoltre il servizio è molto gentile e simpatico. Per niente turistico, consiglio di passarci se siete in zona

Not the friendliest place in London. Walked in and waited to be greeted/seated. Handsome waiter passes me three times. No words, no greeting, no menu no eye contact. No business, I walked out.

A stunning place, The Victoria in Paddington is superb. A Regency building, ornately decorated and offering an extensive range of beer ales and ciders both from the cask and the keg, along with a great selection of wines and spirits. The service is excellent and the staff are awesome. When you visit, be sure to have a look upstairs at both the "Theatre bar" and the "Library" both are exquisite. Wow!

Super nice place, great food in a beautiful setting (we dined in the theatre room, there is a library room as well). Food was great, so was the service.

This place is quite amazing and exceeded my expectations when I booked a table for 2 the other day. Nice and artsy decorated inside and despite being Halloween week the seasonal additions were not overboard. We got there early at 5.30pm and by 7pm the place was getting very full. Service was efficient and the staff friendly, while the food was excellent pub fare with a twist and well-proportioned. Got the soup of the day as starter, then the supreme chicken with the mushroom sauce and to top it off the apple and blackberry crumble with cononut ice-cream. Everything looked and tasted delicious, just check the photos! Definitely recommended and will be visiting again soon.

We arrived around 4pm and easily find some place to sit downstairs, we ordered the foccaccia bread, the scallops, chickens wings, 2 mains (which were quite expensive) and one dessert plus some drinks and paid around £50 pp. I highly recommend the chicken wings as a snack, they were excellent. The people working at the bar and service were really nice and helpful.

Erg leuke plek om gezellig te eten! Voor de 2e keer hier wezen eten en beide keren was het 100% het geld waard. Lekkere keuzes op het menu en goed bereid. Bediening erg aardig en snel. Tip, het restaurant is boven 1 trap omhoog en je kan je daar melden. Beneden is de bar en zij regelen enkel iedereen die gezellig beneden zit.

Lovely pub.Met family from out of town there for reunion lunch first time since pandemic and had requested a longer lunch time reservation than the norm. They were so accommodating. Let us eat, drink, linger and catch up. Can't say enough about it! Wonderful staff and pub!

Absolutely nothing special about this place. It isn't worth going out of your way if you're not already close. Sunday roast was the chewiest beef ever. I am American and if you've ever had a Banquet Salisbury frozen meal, that's exactly what the gravy is comparable to. Don't even bother with the fish and chips. They taste like nothing, and salt couldn't save it. Browning and toffee desserts are delicious, though.
