The Victoria in York

We stayed here Saturday night great place to stay my wife went to the barbican to see a show great location 2 min walk and 15 min walk to the historic town.room was clean and comfortable 👌 . Breakfast was outstanding and fueled walking around all day 😋

Came with my hubby on Sunday and it was lovely, never been before and it was quiet but the landlady was great, the music was amazing, took me right back to my early 20s. They had board games on the tables ready for adults and kids which I though was so good, and dog bowls and water tanks for them. My only criticism was the heaters in the beer garden only stay on for about 30 seconds. Was quite cold outside. We can't wait to visit again though.

Very convenient for the Barbican and the city centre. Was chosen because there was free parking on site. Typical pub with typical pub food.

Went in for food only before a concert at The Barbican. Food was lovely, staff were friendly.

We booked for one night, to go out for Halloween in York, and the location is great. On arrival, we paid and then was shown to the room, we had a twin room, and it was lovey and warm as we entered and was told where things were, The room was clean and had tea / coffee making facilities. The beds were very comfy and had a good night's sleep. The food was top-notch. I had Sirloin steak and was cooked the way I asked, my partner had philly cheese steak baguette and also commented how good it was, and all at a reasonable price, we also had a breakfast on our departure morning, and there was a ample amount, tea/coffee, cereals, juice. The cooked breakfast consists of sausage, egg, beans,several rashers of bacon, black pudding, hash brown, two slices of fried bread, and two slices of toast. In all I would recommend 100% the owner and his colleague were friendly and made you feel very welcome. Keep up the good work. Hopefully, see you again

Good food and beer good atmosphere

A very welcoming place very clean with a good atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent and very close to the centre. We will be staying again

never again to noisy no cold water shower was grubby.

Absolute waste of time! The beer was clearly out of date and when it was questioned they refused to acknowledge it…. the food was a joke… we saw three e refunds been given as they didn’t have items… we had a cheeky look in the kitchen and all Food is microwaved….. chef wore the same gloves to take the rubbish out as he did to serve the food….. avoid at all cost!!! WOW INDEED….. we’ve been drinking in this pub for over 20 years and it’s had some good owners in the past.. however you don’t seem to be able to differentiate between customers, the drunk guy that fell into your divider that was clearly drunk wasn’t part of our party, he was just one of your locals! Obviously we know him through drinking in the pub so to suggest he was drunk and in charge of my daughter is a very shocking low blow indeed… the person asking if you served anything cold/instant was an NHS worker that was clearly in uniform and the child’s mother! She asked this as you told her there would be a 30-40 min wait as you had a table of 4 to serve…. God help you if you get busy!!! I did complain face to face and was told there’s nothing nothing wrong with it however he clearly stated that he doesn’t drink larger and is a cider drinker…. I can assure you that nothing was pulled through the lines and this was the problem…. Telling me to come back and complain face to face sounds very threatening and extremely unprofessional, I myself have managed pubs in the area and the way you dealt with and are dealing with this again is extremely unprofessional… and to suggest I was drunk in charge of a minor!! Namely my daughter is unacceptable to say the least….

Good service, beer and board games. Food was good value and tasty.

Amazing place to stay, we arrived to a warm welcome from Tim and Sarah, were the owner let us leave the car till later on when checking opened, staff were amazing, room was very clean and comfy, breakfast was amazing, will definitely be staying again next time we are in York the only thing was the shower was not powerful but it did it's job.

The place is efficient since it is located next to the city center! But also, I love the experience of sleeping in a pub, with events in the evening! We were treated to a concert, very very nice, and we were able to play games! In short, good atmosphere if with friends... even with family if you are not fussy about noise!

Pretty good all round. Quite a modern understated room, with flowers growing in the window. Good beer, nice fully fried breakfast. The bar shut at ten, though. Just outside the city walls, so quite close to everywhere.-which is good as taxis are hard to find.

A nice pub with very friendly staff.

Horrible noise problem! The room is ok with a decent bathroom. But the hotel is located right at a crossroad so you can hear every sound super clearly at night, as well as your neighbours. I couldn’t sleep at all because of the sound of the cars outside, literally there would be a car passing by every minute it’s a nightmare. There’s also a bar downstairs open till 10pm and you can hear the singing and the band very clearly in your room. The window doesn’t do its job at all there’s basically no soundproof quality. Not a pleasant experience.

I went with a friend who was staying there (and very pleased with the room and breakfast). Great coffee, good prices, nice atmosphere and great location near Barbican. I'd definitely consider staying here in future.

Limited parking spaces, but well worth the visit, reasonably priced compared to other establishments.

Had a delicious Sunday lunch.Melt in your mouth beef,Yorkshire pudding & vegetables, cooked to perfection. The staff are so attentive & friendly.Then some amazing entertainment from Finley Barrett Carter.

Absolutely lovely warm and friendly place to stay . Location is out of the way of the town centre which isn't a bad thing if you wanted something a bit more quieter. The pub itself was a great place to drink and chill out with very friendly staff and the atmosphere was very relaxing with a singer/guitarist playing on the night i was there who was very good too .
