One of if not the best pubs in lincoln, dog friendly and fantastic atmosphere, more like the hub of the community up hill in lincoln .Definitely worth a night in the Victoria. You will more than see the the star of the bar MICK THE VIC

This is a proper English pub at the back of the castle in Lincoln. They have music, food, live music and a great atmosphere..Whats not too like. I go often

Disappointed. Been here once before... and found everything great.. but this time... a regular.. very drunk... just kept pushing in to the bar and cutting in to everyone waiting.. and bar staff allowed this and served him!!! Bar area smelt dirty... and the whole place felt down a level to what I had experienced before. Unfortunately after standing at the bar for ages... and being missed... various others being served.. (staff asking who's next rather than being aware of who is next) lead me and my wife to leave and found another local bar. Shame... as we we spend a lot... tip a lot and on this occasion felt let down. A great, real pub... but let down by staff tonight.

I haven't eaten here yet, but I have to say that in my opinion this is simply the best pub in Lincoln. Always extremely welcoming the staff are friendly knowledgeable and helpful. The prices are reasonable and there is a great drink selection. There is also regular live entertainment. Great pub

The pub has always been warm and friendly. Recently it has had a lovely makeover which has been beautifully done without taking the charm away. My friend and I didnt have food that night so I cant comment except to say people were enjoying their dishes.

Lovely glass of wine in the Vic, quick easy serive and sat in quiet little nook at the back which was very quaint and cosy and had darts and other games in there. Loads of seating available and very nice when not windy to sit outside

Popped into The Victoria for a drink. Traditional pub, good choice of beer. Nice clean toilets.

Excellent beer and great food, welcoming pub, and dog friendly as well, worth a bisit anytime.

This pub is great for live music and drinks. Now regular visitors to Lincoln, this is our local pub. The staff are great and work so hard. There is always something going on here, from Open mic night to Quiz nights to up and coming live artists to legends ! It’s a typical “traditional pub”, a dying breed, but with a landlord that has worked so hard to bring it back to life. Whatever he’s done, and is doing, it’s working.

Simple menu but everything is simply delicious. Live music was great and rounded of our evening perfectly

Went to a gig which was held in a gazebo. It was a bit chilly (would have brought a coat if I had known!) Great atmosphere though. Good barstaff. Enjoyed the evening very much and will definitely go to more gigs in future.

Absolutely amazing food. The head chef Tommy makes an incredible and succulent burger to perfection.

The refurbishment looks brilliant! Choice of beers has really ramped up and the games area is great.

Attended pub quiz and it had really great vibe. Friendly staff, nice drinks. We felt very welcome and questions were accessible for a wide range of people to partake. Though we didn't buy food, we would be happy to reattend to try it!

Best pub in Lincoln by far! We live in north hykeham and it's the furthest pub from us.... But we class this now as our new local ❤️ great atmosphere and staff are wonderful, they are the reason we go back. Entertainment is amazing as are the open mic and quiz. Never a dull moment. Highly recommend.

First time since its makeover - looks and feels amazing!

Such high hopes for when the Victoria closed down to be refurbished....the result is disappointing. I can only assume "The Brewery" agreed to pay for the bare minimum. Terrible finish and the brightest lightening.

Stayed at Charlotte House for 2 nights and this pub was accross the road, we therefore popped in for a drink. Very tidy little pub with some good beers on offer 👍

What a fantastic pub. Very friendly service. Lovely beer. Much needed refreshments after walking up the steep hill. Great outdoor area facing the castle. Will definitely go again and will have food next time.

Great friendly service, delicious halloumi skewers with Mexican fries and onion rings, big portion and loads of cheese! Yummy!

was sat in the castle enjoying a beer from the indian. Manager of the pub left the licensed premises to take away my drink and was told we weren’t allowed to drink my own drink in “her drinking environment”. had a lovely meal at castle view indian, it was a shame the pub opposite had to tarnish the experience and treat me like a wrong-doer

Decent selection of real ales but considerably more expensive than the Strugglers Inn which is virtually next door and which, unlike The Victoria, is an unspoiled, traditional pub which has a much better atmosphere, a wider choice of ales and does not play irritating modern music over the sound system

So glad to have discovered this great pub during our stay in Lincoln. Vit was our favourite.

Extremely busy place, great location, brilliant atmosphere. The place was buzzing when we went. Prices not too bad either considering where it is.

Lovely staff and it’s an awesome pub for letting dogs in and giving our puppy a Biscuit and the food is amazing I went for the bbq pulled pork which was in the light bites but there was plenty. I had to have help to finish it off I just love the fact that dogs can come in brilliant pub

Stopped by after a day trip around Lincolnshire. Food was nice and the outside seating by the castle walls added some great atmosphere.

After a superb refit this pub is just as good as it was before but better and has more seating.not tried the food yet but that's next on my list.

Very disappointed tonight, now I know a Saturday tea time on a sunny day the pub will be busy. Ended up in the little snug bar. My husband waited next to another bloke for 20 minutes still not served either of them. 25 minutes later the other bloke got served and when he paid he said to the barmaid he wants a Gunness meaning my husband she completely ignored him and went on as we watched to serve three more at the other bar not one other staff asked if my husband was being served.The staff could at least have acknowledged him and said be with you next or soon nothing poor sevice so we left!

Was there for a comedy workshop upstairs. Was very nice place, good beer selection and friendly staff.

What's not to like about this place, cosy bars with well kept ales and friendly locals, great place to sit for a chat over a beer... Recently been refurbished and looks great, more space and regular live music.

Since the refurb this place has become the place to be! Great pint and quality ales. Food was a quality and direct menu. Just right for the place. And great to see them bringing another dimension of live music to the city in the shape of some fantastic well known bands bravo 👏

Good local pub located at the back of Lincoln Castle and busy at times, especially when music is on. There is plenty of space both inside and out, and great bar service, clean and not too expensive. Lots of choice for drinks and the pint of Guinness was lovely. Enjoy.

Back with us after some renovation. Excellent pub in uphill area of Lincoln. Live music 4nights a week. Good beer and food. I recommend this place it does get busy, so go early evening for a seat.

Really cool bar, we stumbled in when they had a live Irish band playing so bonus. Great vibe good beer excellent back drop od the Cathedral walls. 👍

Points for having a bunch of outside tables nicely situated for the evening sun for an unexpected alfresco pint on an otherwise chilly April visit to Lincoln. An excellent pint of Bateman's Golden. What was probably a lovely historic pub has been gutted and installed with a modern characterless interior. The barman seemed to be having a bad day and was unfriendly and impolite.

Was very concerned that the revamp would ruin a great beer venue. But thankfully the management have kept the quality of the beer and the atmosphere. Great Taylor's and Batemans ales together with very nice burgers and fries. The queen may be dead but long live the new queen Vic.

Prime location next to the west entrance to the Castle. Friendly pub which caters for all including dogs plus plenty of outside seating. Would recommend.

We stopped in for a late lunch. There was a limited menu, we since found out they had only recently started providing meals. Mainly burgers (meat and vegetarian) and separately a variety of fries. We were very pleasantly surprised by the meal provided. 1 fries and 2 burgers with Shropshire blue cheese and bacon. Good quality and butcher made. Exceptionally good value. James served us and was friendly and very helpful. A good all rounder he served the drinks and cooked the meal. Definitely worth a visit to this pub.

First visit since it was refurbished and what a wonderful suprise. Bright and welcoming with friendly staff. They have a games room withe my new favourite game 'Toad in the Hole'.

Undernew management. Clean friendly. Has been extended but symplecticly giving more areas to sit. Plenty of outside areas with views over the Lawns and the Castle. Dog friendly.

The interior looks amazing, it's a shame that the owners don't care about their impact on the historic environment. As you can see from this photo, the rubbish dump at the back of the pub has had a negative impact on the view from the castle walls. Hopefully, they will tidy it up ASAP.

Looks great after the recent refurb! Loads of room inside and a great selection of beers! The sun even came out on our first visit back after the closure.

A cosy pub, with open fires in the winter months. It sells a good range of well kept real ales.

What a find. I'm touring the uk on a motorcycle and this place was recommended by my accomadation. Most importantly the ale is superb. Tonight had a music pub quiz. Not blasting out you can't hear yourself think. Just perfect even though I wasn't taking part. Bar staff were engaging. Made to feel welcome. Highly recommend.

A pub I often like to call in on when in Lincoln as they have a few flat ciders on and good chip butties. Unfortunately they are no longer doing food but still a nice pub to pop in after a walk around the castle

Bit run down these days. Service is excellent however and good choice of beer.

Went to the Victory for pre works meal next door. The young lady behind the bar was 1st class!! Very polite, efficient and too photos for use. 10 out of 10 !!!

I found the Victoria a charming pub, old school pub. A good outside terrace in the lee of the castle walls, I found the bottled beer well priced, the bar staff friendly and helpful and the general atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable.

There's just been a welcome change of regime at the Vic, with cleaning, redecoration and improvements to the seating and toilets. It's been a long time coming, but what a pleasant difference! All that is needed is some warm weather to enjoy the great outdoor setting, but indoors is now fine too.

A glorious sunny day in Lincoln so ideal for a drink outside. Unfortunately one person serving with around eight persons awaiting. Barman had no ideal of order of serving. Eventually gave up waiting due to the snails pace of serving drinks. As previous reviews seating looks shabby and run down . Outside tent looks totally out of place. Advise looking around the corner to the Strugglers Inn,friendly, efficient service and far superior beer garden

The Victoria is a wonderful pub, with the equally wonderful Lincoln Castle shadowing it. Always a great selection of Ale and Cider, free to use function room. Huge outdoor marquee for bad weather drinking. Great pub.

Not a great place to be. The staff did not make eye contact on arrival, and made no effort to engage at all. The bar staff appeared to be on a goth revival. The beer was fine, no evidence of a menu, the staff bought in some takeaway Polystyrene boxes and gave it to a patron. Had a pint and left, never to return.

The Vic used to be a great pub, but has seriously declined in recent years through neglect. Beer is just about reasonable, though expensive, and the once reliable Taylor's Landlord is now variable. The soft seats are a disgrace and a potential health hazard, reduced to the bare fabric backing and heavily stained, hopefuly only with spilled beer. Toilets regularly out of order. The once knowledgeable managers have gone and opening hours are reduced. A real shame, as it has the best outside view in Lincoln, the west gate of the Castle, which gives it 2 stars rather than 1.

Pub has gone to ruin.....Real ale is not kept well, selection is minimal, real shame, needs a complete overhaul

Popped in twice over the long weekend, good friendly service and good beer. A good pub atmosphere the kind that are sadly disappearing fast.
