This place is more suited for a drink, if there is a sport fixture you wish to watch. The restaurant is not cheap and you feel as if you are eating in a sports’ bar. The open plan design for us does not work. The old eatery, before refurbishment, was so much better; a cozy bar with TVs and bar food, and separate higher end eatery. Definitely not a change for the better! We used to visit regularly, but not anymore.

I would just say it was OK. I would expect more in hotel. Felt we were ignored first of all and had to listen to other talbles being told what was on offer. Had to ask for main plates to be cleared. Again had to listen to other tables being told what was on offer for sweet. Meat and vegetables cooked nice but starters and sweets very poor. It's a shame as could be good. Would not rush back.

The Sunday lunch was very nice and good value. Soup was tasty, decent sized chunks of bread (different varieties), starters well presented. Carvery was really good. Nicely cooked meats and generous slices, accompanied by some very nice veg. Unusually there was mini sausage wrapped in bacon too. Then several choices of pudding - fruit salad, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, apple pie plus waffles and also ice cream. I was so full by the end. Virtually everything was help yourself but unlike other buffets that are sometimes bit messy, this one was was not only tasty but presented well too. Well worth it.

Definitely recommend the 4 course, yes 4, at the Verve Grill which is located within the Village Hotel. The good choice was excellent with lots of starters and desserts. to choose from. The carvery itself was tasty and of a good size, plus you can go back for more if you do wish. It is self service other than the first soup course or for drinks. Overall, well worth the visit!

We had a starter and a main meal. Starter was over priced for what was served. Prawn cocktail, had a water sauce rather than the creamy one that should have been there. Stuffed mushrooms was pitiful. 6 small button mushrooms with tiny bit of cheese and breadcrumbs. We both ordered beef stroganoff. When it came it, it had gherkins through it. strange touch. This was the blandest, strangest beef stroganoff i have ever had, We spoke to the waitress who advised she would pass on to the chef. A manager was over seeing things, when the waitress took our food away. I would have expected a manager to come over to us to ask after our comments, but no one approached us. When asked for the bill, there was nothing discounted for the poor food served. Have been charged similar prices at 5 star hotels, and food was so much better. very disappointed with this.

We were seated by who I can only assume was the manager, and he was so abrupt, almost rude in his demeanour. Fortunately the level of service was redeemed by our lovely waitress. The food fell a bit short, but I guess that is to be expected in a chain hotel restaurant. It was neither bad nor good, but the men in the party complained that the portions were too small. On the whole not a bad experience, but for a hotel restaurant I did think it was fairly well priced.

Went as a couple for Friday night treat as we had vouchers that were given as a gift. Pre-booked shown into what was like an overspill area. Ambience poor. Furniture metal topped with no table cloth. Seating comprised two single seats and one metal garden type bench. First glimpse of menu caused us to exchange glances due to high prices. Thank God for the vouchers!!! Polite waiter (Ian ?) took order and brought the wine. Half hour later we had not received starters, was just in the act of getting ready to leave when waiter arrived to say there had been a delay but Chef was now cutting the bread. Prawn cocktails served with the tiniest triangles of bread we've ever seen. Food pleasant as was Stroganoff main course. Didn't fancy Dessert and asked for bill. When we booked we said we had vouchers but waiter took them away for advice returning after 5/10 mins with revised bill. We'd debated tipping the waiter mainly due to his good manners but decided against it because of the overall experience. Glad we didn't 'cos when we got home and looked at itemised bill a 10% Service Charge had been added on the original price!!! This was our first and last experience of Verve and we definitely would not recommend it.

We visited the verve carvery today and on walking in we were very impressed with the look and feel of the place however we didn't know what was to come. We waited over ten minutes for our drinks to arrive and although we were told our waitress would bring us the hot starters and puddings we had to try hard to get her attention for anything we needed. The food was 'OK' very good selection but the beef was tough as old boots and totally over cooked. It advertises as 4 courses but we have no idea what the 4th course was/is. My boyfriend had a pint which was flat and had to be changed however they still charged us for it. Had to ask 3 times for the bill. I am a big fan of the village and use the facilities there regular and visit the other bar quite a bit. Safe to say I won't be using the verve again!! Very disappointed.

We have just moved to the area and wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary , the village Verve grill during midweek and being very close to our new babysitter was exactly the kind of thing we were after. However we left disappointed ;-(Pros - Staff were very nice Ribs and the starter were lovelyDecorAmbienceCons - Price ! its really pricey for what it is and im by no means a cheapskate , obviously caters for business guests using the corporate credit card but by doing this they have zero chance of bringing in any other local customers. We were gobsmacked that brocoli (you do get to choose from steamed or sautéed;-) chilli mushrooms (which were four mushrooms with a tiny piece of chilli on) were £3.25 !!!!! It gets worse......... I also asked for some bread with the starter, now every nice restaurant anywhere in the world weve visited always brings a basket of bread without charge, so imagine my surprise when a tiny roll with a little bit of butter appeared, i asked for some more (im a bloke, like bread and was hungry!) and instead of just bringing a basket they brought two more individual plates each containing a small roll and a new bit of butter !!! lol. What is going on here i thought, ok strange but surely they wont charge me, but they did , a pound a roll !!?! They also bolted a 10% service charge onto my bill without any notification which really annoys me as this would no doubt be goggled up by the hotel and not given to the staff. i had it removed and tipped in cash on the table. My wife and i shared a starter and a desert and had two mains and a bottle of wine and the bill was over 80 quid (once id had the service charge removed!!). This left a real bitter taste in my mouth.- The chilli pepper steak Chinese main my wife had was so hot it was basically inedible...So all in all a real disappointment, weve eatenn in the bar next door on several occasions and thats great but this place has gone overboard on squeezing business guests for every penny and has forgotten local people may also like to visit. Such a shame as could be great......Stayed September 2015

We booked a table prior to going as I wanted a window seat. We were given a good welcome, shown our table and our drink order was taken. The waitress then explained that there were 4 courses and that they were all buffet style so you could have as many portions as you liked! The first course was soup. The 2nd course had a fantastic choice from various different salads, prawn cocktails, pate, cold meats and a fish selection. The 3rd course was a traditional Carvery with a choice of Turkey, pork and Beef, (vegetarians could order fish instead) the vegetables were cooked to perfection and as we were one of the first in (restaurant opens at 12.30pm) the food was well presented and looked delicious. The 4th course was a selection of lemon cheesecake, chocolate mousse, fruit salad and profiteroles. You could also have ice cream with various sweet bits sprinkled on it! Probably for the children but eaten by the grown ups too! If you wanted there were also waffles freshly cooked. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted good too. The staff were very helpful and friendly and overall we had an enjoyable meal. The price was £14.95 each for adults which we thought for the choice you had was VERY good value. We will return again and recommend it highly.

We used the gourmet card which entitles you to 50% of food. Mind you a stipulation is you need to book. Worth it though. My wife had ribs and I had the burger. Both were good, though the ribs were not up to U.S standards -not a great surprise. Service was attentive. When factored against the relatively cheap cost -value for money was good. Didn't try the appetisers or the deserts -next time perhaps. The whole place is just lacking some atmosphere.

Meal in restaurant was all good as we were running late asked for a later time, which was no problem. Had already given kitchen staff a balloon and some confetti to sprinkle the table, but when seated they added themselves poppers, streamers and a signed card from the hotel. Staff were fantastic, specially Ninikta (sorry spelt wrong) who gave my partner and myself extra attention, even breakfast next day. When we got there we were told that they had closed the Restaurant as there hadn't been many bookings but didn't have the decency to let us know, so we were offered to eat in there but have the pub menu, the pub food was heated up rubbish! When I got home I complained and the restaurant manage offered us a free 3 course meal which I gladly accepted. We were given a small menu with just 5 options on it and nothing really took our fancy. Then we noticed all the other diners were being brought out lovely meals such as steak so I spoke to the manager who I found quite arrogant. He said we were offered a 3 course meal and that's what we were given and the big menu was for the guests that were staying there. I asked him 'so what menu would you have given us NYE's?' he didn't know! Fuming, fobbed us off with a cheap meal and will never eat in there again!

Unfortunately I have to agree with other reviews, we went there for Sunday lunch, the service was very slow and we had to ask at least twice for our drinks order, for which we did eventually get with an apology. I also think the layout is terrible, with only one way in and out for the carvery it was very crowded and hard to get out once you got your dinner. The food itself was good but the lady serving us the meat was very sullen and there were no serving spoons only prongs which is not ideal for vegetables. Also, even though we were the first there 2 of the choices on the menu were not available and the ice cream for the desert option for kids wasn't ready - apparently they had only just turned the machine on at 1.30pm. It's such a shame that the restaurant has gone downhill because I really enjoyed staying at the hotel. I only hope the management read these reviews and do something about it!!

However the attentiveness of the staff and the delay between the ordering and the receiving of drinks leaves a lot of space for improvement. The ambiance is lacking and it has recently been refurbished. However it now resembles a canteen not a restaurant. Half the seating is like garden benches or school chairs. If you visit request a booth- this way you get a padded chair. I would suggest the alternative seating choices would not suit any older people. There is also some king of children's play area right in the path between the seating and the carvary. Whoever designed this has no clue about safety.Realised after paying we could have received 10% off. The manager was very pompous about not refunding after we'd paid. Just came back from a Sunday afternoon carvery and I have to say it was poor. My wife had the beef. Sinewy, overcooked and tough as old boots, she left most of it. My turkey was ok. Veg was mixed - bullet hard carrots, overcooked spinach and cauliflower, parsnips and roast potatoes were soft. Shame, we were starving and had been looking forward to it all week.Service was really bad. Took 10 minutes for me to get up after being shown the table and have to ask to be offered drinks. Then I had to get up again to go and chase them, simple stuff really.Took several reminders to get the bill, I paid, we went next door to the bar as it was raining and one of the waitresses came in a couple of minutes later and asked us to pay the bill - erm we just paid it. I mix up I'm sure but it just demonstrates poor communication between the staff there.I didn't tip them, can't remember the last time I didn't tip, but tipping for such rubbish service and a general poor experience will only lead them to think that what they are doing is acceptable or the norm. Drinks came promptly, but we waited a fair time for our food to arrive. But the food when it came was very good so no complaints there - try the pollock.Food is always the reason we visit a restaurant, but on the basis of the strange and isolating ' canteen effect' area I personally wouldn't visit again.I've given this establishment an 'average' rating based on the ambience of the place. Went yesterday with a group after a good meal last year I'm afraid it has gone down a bit since then, they have altered the deco recently and not for the better, whoever thought double seats at a carvery restaurant must be crackers and the hard furniture does not improve the nose absorption which is abysmal making it a very noisy place to eat. Used to be fully self service buffet but now starters and sweets are served, these were OK, but the carvery has now been walled in to a very small area, nice to see a proper turkey as one of the choices instead of the usual turkey roll, meat was good but let down by lukewarm vegetables, lot's of choice but how the servers can be really hot but the veg not takes some doing, saving grace was it was a reasonable priceStaff were fine and helpful and cheerful

I did not really enjoy the experience, there are simply too few staff, and those that were there have not been trained sufficiently. The table was booked, when the hotel booking was made, and the hotel reception where aware of the this, it was a pity the restaurant was not.Three of the party had steaks that were very tough, the manager claimed that they would consider changing the butcher. However this would not clear the table of dirty plates, that were left until we did, dispite numourous requests to remove them. The water did eventually arrive, near the end of the the meal. I guess we did bring it on ourselves by ignoring the waitresses introduction, that we would have to catch her when we could. We were offered highchairs for the children, and there were crayon colouring packs. The staff were pleasant, when you saw them. To finish off the bill was paid mostly in cash, and the remainder by card, by one of the party the waitress asked for £80, when the actual amount to be paid was £40. I do not believe this was intentional just an indication of the level of attention paid.

Party of 28 adults and small children for celebration of wedding anniversary and general good time get together.Sunday carvery, lovely fresh food and ample supplies of this. Reservation made with Tarun ( food and beverage manager) in May; good communication as required in between, despite arrival of Tarun's baby. Care by Tarun and staff excellent, really hot, hot day but no frazzling noted. Helped to make lovely event even better, thanks to them ++.

Went there only because I had some vouchers (£50 value) from village gym. Although food was nice we had to wait for quiet some time for it. Also £50 voucher was not enough to pay for meal and soft drinks. Not likely to go back.

Went because we got vouchers when we joined the village gym. Service was ok and environment was clean and pleasant. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I had chicken Kiev (which was ok) with salad. The salad was simply a collection of leaves with nothing for interest and absolutely drowned in oil, the bowl that the salad came in had about 0.5cm of oil in the bottom. My partner had Moroccan stew, which was swimming in oil, we did attempt to mop up some with the napkin but the meal was ultimately unsalvageable. We mentioned to the waitress, who was very pleasant and acknowledged the clear problem. The drinks were compensated (as was not covered by the voucher) and we declined dessert for fear of oil being liberally applied.

Prompt service, Totally serve (apart from drinks) yourself from starters through to desserts.Good range of starters (inc soup, fish, cold meats) tasty meat off carvery and plenty of it, but veg a bit tasteless (although well presented and good variety). Cheesecake dessert was very good. Cheeseboard Ok as Stilton was very cold and hard.Overall pretty average sunday carvery.

The Verve Grill is located within the Village hotel in Coventry. We purchased a package deal from the hotel that included a 3 course meal at this restaurant. The food and service were both terrible and if you stay at this nice hotel, I recommed you dine elsewhere. The Farmhouse nearby is a much better option. We arrived at the hotel at 9pm, tired and hungry and very excited at the prospect of a special 3 course meal at the Verve Grill. This was to celebrate my husband's birthday. Little did we know this would be one of the worst restaurant dinners of our life. We were shown to a table directly under a cold air vent and waited 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken. We ordered a bottle of sparkling Australian brut and some tap water. We then waited, and waited, and waited - keen to place our food order. Finally a waiter arrived to inform us that the wine we ordered was out of stock. We then ordered a different wine and continued to wait for someone to take our food order. Our tap water never arrived. After more than 30 minutes since we sat down, we finally were able to order our food! As we had a set menu included in our holiday package, our choices were limited. I ordered a tomato and mozerella tart to begin with and a burger for main course. When the tart came out, it looked very pale yellow. I asked my husband to try it first and he said it tasted eggy. I had a small taste and he was correct - it simply tasted like plain sloppy scrambled egg. I pushed it aside and could not eat it. I tried to get a waiter's attention - but the waiters were all too busy trying to set up the restaurant for breakfast the next day. Eventually when someone came to clear our plates, they asked "was everything okay" to which I replied "no, the tart tasted very eggy and I could not eat it". He did not say anything, he just took my plate to the kitchen without further comment. It was a bit abrupt but I suppose I shouldn't have ordered it in the first place. For main course I ordered the burger. I am very particular about my burgers and I asked the waitress if she recommended it and she said the burger was very delicious and filling. I asked if I could have the burger cooked medium rare. She said no - all burgers were served medium but that it would still be pink inside and very juicy. I said that was fine. When the burger arrived it was completely overcooked and without any seasoning. It was cooked very well done - not medium - and it was not at all juicy and definitely not pink in the centre. When I finally managed to get someone's attention - a different waiter to whom I had ordered with - they said that all burgers were cooked medium due to health & safety reasons. I said that is fine, but my burger was well done - not medium - and furthermore, if I was told beforehand that burgers are overcooked I would not have ordered it in the first place. In the end they removed the burger and provided me with just some hot chips. I felt very awkward about this whole exchange as it seemed that the waiter was unhappy with us. I tried to be pleasant but the waiter was not friendly in return, it was as if we had interuppted him and he had better things to do.The most disturbing thing about this whole evening was the lack of service. I would not have minded the terrible food if the staff had been nicer. But the staff viewed us as being a pain - probably because were were a late dinner reservation. It seemed the staff just wanted to go home. I would have liked to point out to them that if they took our order more promptly we would have left the restaurant earlier. They were also making a loud racket setting up the tables for breakfast around us when we were "trying" to have a romantic and intimate meal.Dessert was very ordinary. I was not expecting a Michelin Star restaurant, but I really found the food to be inedible. My husband also did not finish his dinner. Topped off when the very bad service, I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

Have been to the Verve on numerous occasions and usually have a good experience, although the food is not complex in nature. Only once had poor service and certainly not in the last 3-4 years. Usually go on a Friday or Saturday night and they have been busy. The last couple of times we have been have been for the Carvery on a Sunday and that has always been very enjoyable. My one criticism would have been that I thought that the menu was limited and didn't change often enough. Unfortunately I have noticed that they have recently changed their menu but it is now even more limited which is a disappointment to me!!Have various offers such as Early DIning and Special Offers on Friday and Saturday night for 2 diners.

Haven't been to nandos in years but probably wouldn't bother again. 6 of us went for a friend's birthday. 3 meals were brought to the table and about 10 mins later i had to ask if the other 3 could come out aswell. One was missing corn, one had burn't corn and gravy was brought out well before the rest of the meal so was cold. One meal came out with mac and cheese side that we didn't order so let the staff know so they just took it off our plate and added it to another plate when we could have touched it. For the price we paid for 6 people I wasn't overly impressed with the service. To be fair I will add that we did go on a bank holiday Monday.

We realised that the time frame had expired so phoned the restaurant. Was given misleading info leading us to believe the food was on its way. After 3 further phone calls including speaking to the ‘manager’ the food eventually arrived cold and subsequently not the anticipated quality from Istanbul…£10 for a kebab!…I expect better

This Nandos had a lovely ambience and tasty food. My daughter ordered the sunset burger which was delicious. Good friendly customer Service. Nothing ws too much trouble for them. Nice seating area in the back Overall the food was tasty and had an enjoyable time. Highly recommend Just been back and was well impressed by Anya, who gave a excellent customer service and who sorted out a wobbly table without even asking her with a smile. Ps food was lovely as ever ☺️

Ordered through the website. Had an order confirmation email and money taken from my account. An hour later, food still hadn't turned up. Tried to call them but straight to voicemail multiple times. Turns out they were closed. Had to go through my bank to get a refund. Doesn't look like it's the first time they've done this to people. Used to be great, avoid now!
