We visit the Upton regularly, it’s our ‘local’ . Always a friendly welcome . We tend to just have a drink and crisps ! but the food looks great .

An excellent Sunday Roast. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The food, atmosphere and service was excellent. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Went for an impromptu Sunday Roast, having had a great private buffet party there a couple of weeks earlier. We were not disappointed, the pork and beef roasts were hot, tasty and plentiful. We could find nothing to disappoint us - all was spot on. Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. The ladies had pudding ( naturally) and were well pleased with their choices. All in all a great visit ( and I didn't have to cook !!!)

Lovely cosy country pub with roaring log fire. Visited for a light lunch. Could have eaten everything on the menu. Service was excellent and a nice personal touch too. Landlord very friendly. Will go again

We have been trying the Upton for years, it’s been laughable How bad as a restaurant it’s been, as a pub it was always ok but now the new owner has taken over we have been multiple times and it gets better every time! The food is verging on fine dining but not overkill and still retains pub food status just very tasty and beautifully presented, the staff are all excellent and seem trained, they all smile and know what they are serving you, the drinks are superb, Wine (so far) has been fantastic ! Atmosphere is the best in the area, the owner cares and he’s friendly and knowledgable ! This has gone from the worse local Pub/restaurant to a stand out best in the area ! The old Pub has become a warm and welcoming place again, proving there is life in a old Country pub. I’m excited about the future and having this on our doorstep !

Had the most amazing new years eve banquet and disco last night! Had a lovely family meal on Saturday at the Upton Inn. There were 14 of us, the service was great food was lovely and quick and the selection was varied and catered for all, would definitely go back.

This was our third visit to the Upton and we love it. Had a lovely Sunday Roast and previous visits have been for mid week meals. Lovely atmosphere and great selection of food and drink available. Staff always very polite and engaging too.

I've been wanting to come here for ages and so decided to celebrate my little one turning 2 with a proper Sunday roast at a local pub with our immediate family. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. We were a table of 11 (plus a high chair and a newborn!) We were kindly given the Captain's Table in a private dining space which was perfect for us, visiting with our grandparents who struggle to hear conversation in busier environments. We were so fortunate not to be rushed at all. All the members of staff we met were so attentive, frequently checking our drinks were topped up and that we had everything that we needed. The food was delcious, and despite being a busy Sunday and a large table, was delivered not long after ordering! Between us all meats on the menu were sampled, and all were delicious. Lots of clean plates! A great kids/toddler menu too which was reasonably priced with high quality food. A fantastic experience all round and we will be back for sure for other occasions. Tucked away in a beautiful spot, not far from Keynsham/Bitton/Saltford etc,... well worth a visit! Thank you so much for making our celebrations for my son exactly how we wished!!!

They put a lot of effort into the customer having a good experience, food, service and atmosphere all very good. Worth coming over from Fishponds and Bradley Stoke for the evening! Keep doing what you do, it works very well.

A wonderful roast dinner in a gorgeous pub. It’s a bit more £ than average but worth it. Staff are attentive and friendly and we were lucky to get the captains table stocked with games to entertain the 4 small children with us. Would absolutely return because there are more desserts I need to try!!

We had a Sunday lunch and it was cold when we asked for it to be hot it came back warm and it was £24 per person will not be going back ( not good)

So lovely to see an old pub brought back to life. Well worth the wait for refurbishment. Had a delightful Sunday lunch there with the family and dog today. Super relaxed atmosphere with a fantastic level of service. The pecan pie is to die for (the generous helping of chantilly cream was particularly appreciated by the dog 😉😆). Can also recommend the espresso martini - #cheekytreat . We will definitely be visiting again 😍

Popped up there for a quiet drink love the place been back manny times food is amazing, top quality staff and I here live music will be coming what more could you ask for.

Last month I visited the Upton with my son for the first time since it had exchanged hands. My wife had previously regularly visited the pub for a walk with our dog and a meal afterwards. This was my son’s first visit to the pub and I had built up his expectations on what it was going to be like. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the experience which began with the seating arrangement. Despite reserving a table before setting out for a walk, we were placed in a separate area from the main area of the pub, right next to the door to the toilets. This experience significantly marred what was supposed to be an enjoyable meal. The location of the table was highly undesirable for several reasons. Firstly, being isolated from the main dining area made us feel disconnected from the vibrant atmosphere that I was looking forward to. The main area of the pub was filled with lively conversations and pleasant ambiance, while the secluded area felt more like an afterthought, lacking the same charm and energy. Secondly, the proximity to the toilets was incredibly off-putting. Throughout the meal, there was a constant flow of people going in and out, which was both distracting and unpleasant. The frequent opening and closing of the door made it difficult to enjoy the food and conversation. The whole experience made it hard to relax and enjoy my meal with the continuous interruptions. This placement made what should have been a special evening feel more like a hurried and uncomfortable affair. Having reserved a table if this was the only option this should have been pointed out, though I did feel that the placement was deliberate and we were dealt with differently rather the staff hand being forced because of limited space. The food did not deliver on the quality that I have come to expect from the Upton, so this just rubbed salt in to the wounds. Doubly disappointing since my parents have lived in the area for 50 years and we wished to support the new owners of the pub. In conclusion, I will not be hurrying back and I hope that the staff can more inclusive in their behaviour.

I really want to say 5 Stars. The pub has an amazing atmosphere, the beers are GREAT, staff AMAZING. I had a pie on Pie night, extremely fairly / low priced, however I’m suspicious the mash was Smash. I like to see a lump in my mash if not just to prove it’s real. We watched another table discussing exactly the same. With just the smallest adjustments this could really be the best in the area. If you had The Cross House food with the Upton Inn’s atmosphere you’ve cracked it! Please keep this place open and push for just a little touch better from the Chef.

Great pub for good food and a £10 lunch as well. We were welcomed on arrival and shown to our table. The staff were attentive and gave us ample time to peruse the menu. We didn't feel rushed and had a pleasant and leisurely lunch were looked after very well.

Under new ownership and it really really shows. Come for Sunday lunch and the carvery was brilliant. It tasted fresh with a good selection. Had the Vegan roast and well worth it! Beer was good too. Cannot fault the service in any way and the owners definitely believe in customer satisfaction. Well worth a visit. Dog friendly and a big car park.

We had previously visited before under previous ownership. The Sunday roast was lovely. The pub has had a refurb. Staff were amazing. Would definitely return.

We have been visiting this pub now for over 15 years, and it has always been our go to for a nice evening out. We were so excited to hear it was to be re-opened under new management, so we eagerly anticipated our first visit. Upon arriving, the landlord and staff were extremely friendly and something I do want to reiterate, is how hard they are trying to make this a success. My review is just constructive criticism for them to hopefully improve over the coming months :) A lovely lady handed us the menus, however we were a little disappointed at the choices. We have a vegetarian in our family and it seemed as though she only had one option. The food arrived, and whilst beautifully presented, was not much more than a starter. It lacked taste and flavour and was quite disappointing for the increased prices. I had the fish, and whilst it wasn’t bad at all, it just didn’t seem to compete with other pubs in the area at the same price point. I have no doubt Julian and his team will continue to improve and I really hope this lovely pub is able to be done justice.

This is local for me and has always been a little Gem. It was closed for a while and I feared the worst. It's just wow......it's even more relaxed, where you just instantly feel chilled and relaxed. Visited twice now and have to say the drinks on offer are fantastic. Beer my go to ....three cask ales all superbly kept and served in a glass of your choice that they ask on your selection. Good craft on tap. A selection of homemade gins, (marmalade and fig is amazing) and loads of single malts all of which that I personally love. Bar staff are fantastic and add to the super relaxed atmosphere that all the family loved.....even think my three month old grand daughter loved it Hard to pick out the best thing really. It's all top drawer Landlord has created a very very special place

Great to see this popular village pub & restaurant re-open. Went there with friends to celebrate a birthday, had a lovely well cooked & presented meal. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Good selection of ales, lagers, wines & spirits. Will definitely be going back & can highly recommend it. Well worth the visit.

This is a real hug of a pub, it’s cosy and friendly. The food was delicious, we had the roast pork, The owner was very attentive and the staff very helpful. There is a good selection of beers on tap and decor is stunning. I would 100% recommend and will definitely be going back to try the beef, lamb and chicken.

Stunning Sunday lunch, absolutely brilliant service from every single member of the team. New owners are absolutely so friendly and welcoming can't wait to come back. We had every type of roast available between us and couldn't fault any meal the lamb, pork, beef and chicken were all stunning.

Just returned this evening (20 April 2024) from a lovely meal at The Upton. Recently opened around four weeks ago and the decor is homely with velvet seating and candles. We enjoyed the plaice and the battered hake, both very enjoyable being well presented, fresh and tasty and hot. Pudding was apple crumble with clotted cream - delightful. Hospitality was very welcoming and the new owners introduced themselves to each table and were very enthusiastic as were the staff. Cant wait for our next visit soon!

Visited for lunch today. Really warm welcome, great service and delicious food! Menu is still quite small, but plenty to select from, freshly cooked and super tasty! The warm pecan tart was superb with fabulous light pastry and not too sweet a filling.

Called in on a wet Wednesday night and greeted with a smile and warm welcome. The food was great with a special take on a burger with real slices of beef presented well with BBQ beans and very tasty fries, the fish dish was crispy with large flakes of fish. If you haven't been here for a while the new owners (only opened for the past 3 weeks) and staff and food will make you return again for sure. I never usually leave any reviews but this seams a little secret that should be shared. Many thanks.

Went for Sunday lunch. Lovely friendly welcome and attentive service throughout. Small but good choice of starters - we both had the mushrooms which were delicious. We were expecting a carvery but were delighted that the Sunday roast came out as a beautifully presented plated meal. I asked for my beef to be well done and this was no problem at all. As with the starters there was a small but good choice of puddings. We understand from the owner Julian that all the menus will be slowly expanded. Perhaps a choice of ice cream would be a good addition. Altogether a superb meal and we will definitely be coming back.

It’s fair to say our fav pub is well and truly back!! Have both enjoyed drinks here since our youth and decided to have a girly lunch. Weather looked dodge so reluctantly drove and enjoyed it so much had to leave car and get collected😂. Food was lovely, and chocolate mouse was to die for. Same ambience and lovely decor but staff very different to our last visit with the previous owners! Super friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Throw in home made gin and what can I say. My only criticism, it should be closer to Oldland or at least move the huge hill in between. Will def be getting fitter through the summer though! A triumphant re-opening.

A wonderful atmospheric country pub, the new owner has made an incredible job of refurbishing the lovely county pub. The welcome was warm as was the lovely roaring fire. We had Sunday lunch, which was stunning all fresh and beautifully presented the staff were welcoming and helpful. They serve San Miguel 0% on draft, which for me was a revelation, tasted amazing and enabled being able to drive out for a meal and not have to drink soft drinks. Great venue, I cannot recommend it highly enough. I will be back for sure.

Wow, Sunday roast was amazing, both pork and beef were cooked to perfection. All my favourite vegetables on one plate yum. Staff showed fantastic customer service. Very friendly atmosphere, very cosy by the fire. Landlord Julian was very welcoming. We live half an hour way from the pub, husband came across this pub by chance. We will definitely be coming again in the future. Would highly recommend.

My son and I visited this pub on its opening night after an extensive closure for refurb. The new landlord, Julian was most welcoming, the choice of beers excellent and the food looked fantastic, with great quality locally sourced produce. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Undercooked tasteless lack of anything that was vegetarian . The staff were friendly enough but the the food wasn’t very good at all. We had a roast and although I am vegetarian my husband isn’t. He said the meat was extremely chewy and the veg was undercooked.

I have been using this pub/restaurant for many years. It was fine as it was as a country pub. They are trying to make it posh. Not suited to the venue

Visited this venue for lunch. The staff were very friendly but I’m afraid the food was up to scratch as in the past. The vegetables were undercooked and the meat very chewy. The vegetarian option for a roast was also undercooked. Needless to say will give this one a miss next time.

Best pub meal for a long time. We had the seafood platter and the pork ribeye, absolutely delicious. Service was welcoming, quick and courteous, even our dogs were catered for with treats and water. Wouldn’t hesitate to return

Just had a fantastic Sunday lunch take away, Roast pork and crackling and Yorkshire pudding and so much veg, gravy was delicious too! Followed by their sticky toffee pudding, delicious. Fantastic value for money and will definitely visit them when lockdown ends.

Highly recommend the Upton Inn to anybody looking for some good pub grub! In these uncertain times of covid it's wonderful that they have opened up a takeaway service and the menu has a fabulous variety of meals.I had the spicy chicken burger, which was the yummiest meal that I've ever eaten and I thourghly enjoyed it (thank you to all of the amazing chefs!)High quality ingredients, fresh, warm and extremely tasty! The portion amount was so generous and definitely the bestest burger that I've eaten. Will be back for more and highly recommend! Xx

Saturday night with friends on a rainy dark night.Lovely clean and spacious pub, very good and large menu and happy efficient staff.I had faggots, mash and veg with gravy which was very tasty, I wasn’t going to have a dessert and then I saw bread and butter pudding with custard and couldn’t resist, so glad I did it was stunning.I would recommend this pub and will be going back again as everything was so good.

Esta noche fue nuestra primera visita de encierro y estuvo magníficamente organizada. Mucho espacio entre las mesas y numerosas precauciones coviditas sin inhibir la encantadora atmósfera que es The Upton Inn. Very attractive, characterful pub, with friendly staff. Delicious mackerel & new potato salad followed by apple & cinnamon crumble. Everything very clean and nicely decorated. Very impressed, not local but keen to come back.

Comimos en familia y nos dieron una gran mesa en la zona exterior detrás del pub, que era muy acogedor y limpio. El menú era variado y emocionante y no decepcionó. Los adultos y los niños quedaron realmente impresionados con su comida, que era muy sabrosa y porciones de buen tamaño. El servicio fue increíble, todo el personal fue educado y atento y se tomaban la seguridad muy en serio. ¡Definitivamente volveremos!

What a very tasty curry. I had chicken. My dad had vegetable Thai curry. Both were excellent. Apple Pie for dessert.. Very generous portion, very tasty. Great customer service from the 2 friendly women behind the bar. Well worth a visit.

Great home cooked food and a menu with plenty of variety including vegan. Good range of draft beers and ciders. Outside seating for the summer. Location - the pub is in Upton Cheyney not in Bath town centre. Roughly half way between Keynsham and Bath.

Lovely meal, very helpful staff.Only potential recommendations would be potentially adding mash potato to their selection of vegetables, and also a table ‘tab’ facility.Would definitely recommend. One of the best carvery’s I’ve had. The choice of veg was fab and the quality of all the food was great. The staff were helpful and very friendly! Lovely cosy atmosphere.
