Good food, great service and a nice place to eat.

Walked in for lunch with visiting family. It is a gorgeous building, and all the staff were welcoming, polite, and attentive. I couldn't fault them. Our particular waitress was fantastic. We ordered two fish and chips and the two course set lunch deal for two of us. Sadly, the food did not live up to the setting or service. it was such a shame. I was very disappointed with my fish and chips. The batter was soggy underneath, and the haddock fillet inside was thin, grey, and tasteless and still had the fish skin on. Even a fish and chip take away removes the fish skin. I found my peas and tartar sauce inedible. The pureed peas were in a tiny pot and overpowered by mint, and the tartar sauce, which I usually love with white fish, was packed with whole capers, which I don't love. The chips were just uninspiring frozen chips. My husband's chicken and leek pie and mash came without any vegetables, which was a shame. Just a few peas would have made the difference and added some colour to a brown plate of food. The pie was just a puff pastry top, not a pie, and the sauce inside was thin and lacking much flavour. The saving grace. Two of the rhubarb and apple crumbles with stem ginger ice cream were enjoyed by the party. If I had not been with my in-laws who were treating us to lunch as a thank you, I would have complained.

The most disgusting place I have ever been. We booked as a nice mini moon dinner, my husband’s chicken was raw I told a staff member it came back out microwaved and still raw! My salad my chicken was pre cocked slices from a supermarket I refused to pay it was vile!

We went there on a tour to eat, they only had three lunch options and three dessert options, so I didn’t eat because they ran out 😡

This restaurant is an absolute gem in Bath. The food was outstanding—every dish we tried exceeded our expectations. We ordered the cod, seabass, and schnitzel, and each was so delicious that we found ourselves constantly sampling from each other’s plates. The service was impeccable from start to finish, with the staff attentive and genuinely warm. We have asked our waiter to rush the food as we were late for a tour and it came out promptly. The ambiance is equally impressive; it’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a welcoming and elegant atmosphere. We visited for lunch, but I’m already looking forward to coming back for dinner to experience the restaurant in a different light. The bar area, with its double-height ceilings, adds to the charm, and the presence of a piano hints at the possibility of live music in the evening, which would elevate the experience even further. This place is definitely worth a visit, whether you're a local or just passing through Bath.

We were well looked after Yee Lin, who was lovely and friendly. The Shepherd’s Pie and Brown’s cheese burger were very tasty. We had a pudding too. We had a concert to get to and we were in and out in the hour. Great service.

Good food and friendly staff although the service may be slow

This is the second time we have been. The first time we were served by Alex and the second, Mel. Both were exemplary in their attentiveness and friendliness; and fthe ood was excellent at a fair price. The chef is to be complomented! Overal hghly recommended. Steve and Sue.

Last minute decision to go here, knowing the brand from Cambridge. The food was great and our server Menino was incredible, spotting our kids were starving and getting their food out asap. He remained attentive and polite throughout. There was another young gentleman there, whose name I never got, who was also fantastic.

My partner and myself had afternoon tea and it was a really nice experience. The host was welcoming of us when we arrived and the meal itself was great. Some minor parts that could have made the experience could have improved the experience were that my partner asked for 2 broiche rolls without the smoked salmon but then none arrived and the water mixed up the teas we requested. It was still a lovely experience but the service during afternoon tea can bring it to the next level.

Visiting Bath for a short break and booked dinner here. Lovely building, nice atmosphere. We were seated in a booth, would have liked the main seating area with a view but didn't spoil our evening.My main course of chicken tahini and harissa was delicious, one of the nicest I've ever had, scoffed the lot. Wish I had the nerve to ask for the receipe. If I'm ever visiting again will definitely pop in.

We celebrated a birthday on Saturday lunchtime . Good choice on the menu for food and drinks arrived promptly . I had the pan fried sea bass - very nice . Tom our waiter was very attentive and joined in with a bit of friendly banter - a nice touch at the end with a free glass of champagne and dessert for the birthday girl. It was busy and we did order more drinks but we didn’t feel rushed so many thanks for a lovely lunch

What a lovely experience. We visited on Friday night for just drinks and it was so lovely that we decided to come back on Saturday for Bottomless Brunch. The service by Sam, Alec, Yee Lin and Kate was fantastic (apologies I didn't catch the other staff members names but were all AMAZING!) The brunch was really tasty. The best scrambled eggs I've had in a long time. I would highly recommend!

We had a fabulous meal the chateau briand was to die for as were the salted caramel profiteroles. Our lovely server Yee Lin was an absolute star. Thank you for making my husbands birthday special. Xxx

We had an afternoon tea, and unfortunately, this was the worst I have ever had. The Scones could have knocked someone out they were so hard. The sandwiches had no flavour and were underwhelming. Some of the cakes takes store bought, the Victoria Sponge was so sweet my teeth hurt. It was a real shame

This was my first trip to Bath and I was blown away by the stunning architecture of the city, the Bath stone painted a wonderful backdrop to an enjoyable day of sightseeing. However, all that walking worked up a significant appetite, this is where we stumbled upon Browns. We hadn't made a reservation as I believe fate dictates your path and we were fortunate enough to be able to be seated at a wonderful table where we were treated to a full view of this bustling restaurant. As soon as we were sat and made comfortable, we were introduced to our waiter, Tom. He instantly made us feel like we were at home as he talked us through the menu with such knowledge and confidence that we were putty in his hands and followed his recommendations throughout our visit. His enigmatic patter not only encouraged us to enjoy a bowl of olives whilst we sat and talked but talked my wife into a quite delicious Strawberry Daiquiri. The gooey Camembert to start was a decadent treat and the perfect sharer as we waited in anticipation for our mains. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked Ribeye whilst my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Pulled Lamb Shepherds pie. This was accompanied by a fantastic bottle of Malbec again, well recommended by Tom who wouldn't permit either of us to touch the bottle, every time we went to top up our glasses he appeared from nowhere with a smile and poured more of this tasty tipple, as if he knew we were running dangerously low! My wife ordered the salted caramel Profiteroles and, whilst I sternly maintained that I am not a dessert man, Tom slipped me a spoon "just incase" curiosity got the better of me and it absolutely did! Divine. We rounded our meal off with coffees as we sat and relaxed. It was refreshing not to be rushed off a table when generally this is expected in a busy restaurant especially when not making a reservation. Overall it was a first class meal, the setting was perfect, a seamless blend of classic brasserie with a contemporary flourish. Reasonably priced and all of the staff we encountered were fantastic but a particular mention to Tom who even recommended a great cocktail bar to visit on our way back to the hotel, but that's a story for another review... 5 Stars, would definitely recommend. Apologies for the lack of photos but I am very much one of those "live in the moment" types

I had a lovely meal with my family. The sheppards pie was exquisite would come bacl for more. Our waiter tom was so accomidating and an all around amazing waiter.

Went for afternoon tea with my wife, and whilst it wasn't the best afternoon tea I've ever had, it was certainly very very good and worth the money - it was made even better by the very good service from Tom who was a great laugh and made us feel very welcome.

Recently my family and I dined here one Saturday evening whilst on a short yet unforgettable trip to Bath. We were recommended Browns Bath after over hearing a foreign possibly non-binary couple raving to others at the Roman Bath tour. They had suggested to us to phone ahead and book to which a gentleman named Tom was able to pencil us in with such professional customer service that my Aunt using her flip phone had to sit down - much to the annoyance of the disabled children beside us! Browns Bath itself oozed such class and character. It’s easy to understand why the reviews are highly rated. Tom, the gentleman who was able to squeeze us in served us for the evening with such attention to detail that my visually impaired sister was adamant he was a ‘Secret Millionaire’ as seen on Channel 4. She was insistent that we left a good tip! The food was outstanding. Freshly cooked exactly to our specifications. The wine was sensational however a slight hiccup with one of the other waiters accidently breaking off the cork. Luckily Tom was able to use the ‘shoe trick’ against the wall and saved the bottle, to which a few tables all applauded! Tom, Browns Bath.. we will be back!

After being recommended by a close family friend, we decided to visit Browns for a very special occasion - Great Aunt Marge’s 90th birthday, and we couldn’t have been happier with how the day went. The food was exquisite, the ambience was perfect - but the service was what really set this place apart from the recent dining experiences we have had. I want to take this opportunity to give a special mention to our server, Tom. He was polite, attentive and glided around the dining room like a majestic swan. Aunt Marge is known to be a stickler for manners and he even won her over, so that just says all you need to know about the young man. Would definitely recommend and we cannot wait to return in the near future!

My lover took me here for a birthday treat and I have to say that this eatery is fantastic. If I had to sum my experience up in 3 words I’d say “excellent service and amazing food”. The special attention from waiter Tom made it a birthday meal to remember.

First time in bath and first trip to browns… me and the girls sat on the terrace with some amazing cocktails and some nibbles. Our waiter Tom made the day even more special with a surprise birthday dessert for my mates 30th birthday (he was too shy to sing unfortunately) We will be back again soon next time we come to visit 10/10

Fantastic restaurant with a lovely outside terrace over looked by the abbey..great place to stop for a drink.. Earl and his bar team really know their stuff when it comes to cocktails.. onto the food.. recently been taken on by a new chef and it is out standing! We had the sharing steak for 2 which was juicy and tender, my Dad had the Shepard’s pie which he said was better than Mum’s and she had the fish and chips (huge portion!) which she loved.. all in all 10/10! Amazing service from Alex! Will be back soon!

We had a delicious lunch at Browns today. I had the chicken and leek pie and my Husband had fish and chips( a large peice of haddock). Tom was our Waiter serving us. Went for afternoon tea. Layout was lovely and food/drinks delicious. I think they took too many bookings on so lots of mistakes were being made or food taking odd times to come out but all in all enjoyable experience

Booked a table for Sunday lunch for 2.30, we have been a few times before and really enjoyed it. Drinks that we had ordered arrived, girl came to take our order and told us they had ran out of Roast Beef at 2pm!!! She was very apologetic, but we all wanted Beef, so paid for our drinks and went to the Restaurant next door and had a Sunday Lunch with Roast Beef and it was delicious! Not good management at all!!!

It was good to be able to sit outside. Our waitress was very helpful. There was a good choice of non-alcoholic beers. However, the food was terrible. My asparagus and mushroom starter on sourdough toast had a barely visible amount of asparagus. The total of the minuscule bits would have been at best wood inches - less than one spear. But the main course was worse. I honestly think it's the worst risotto I've ever seen. Inedible lumps of congealed rice. The vegetables were ok but picking them out was a disappointing experience. Actually the whole thing was a disappointing experience. The waitress told us I was not the first person to complain about the risotto. They were waiting for a new head chef to start and the team could not cook risotto. So why have it on the menu? What an own goal. We won't be going back any time soon.

Amazing charismatic service from everyone. Browns is one of our favourite places to hang out for a special meal or regular drinks after work. We visited on Saturday with my friends, were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in and recommended new summer cocktails to try. The vibe of the whole place was amazing, and the building was stunning with beautiful decoration. We were especially looked after by Earl, who has always been the best bartender! He, along with the other lovely bartender, Josh, make the best vibes and a great night for anyone visiting! Would highly recommend Browns. See you again soon!
