Browns Brasserie & Bar in Bath and North East Somerset

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of coming to browns this evening for a spontaneous drinks night. Dan and Earl were so lovely and attentive. Will be back again!

It was freezing cold in the upstairs room. Thankfully I was with a lovely group so that was a distraction. The food was almost inedible. I had shepherds pie. It was bland and the side of veg was overcooked and tasteless. The service was attentive though one of our group received her main way after the rest of us and didn’t eat it anyway.

Had an incredible night here, the cocktails are phenomenal and the service is excellent, highly recommend. Dan and Earl in particular are great

We had a great visit to Browns. Our Server Yee Lin was really friendly, attentive and helpful. Food was lovely, as were the cocktails. We mentioned it was a birthday visit and were given a surprise pudding. Definitely will visit again.

Always great food, beautiful ambience and the service is fast and polite. Prices are reasonable according to the portion offered.

Had a lush date night with my boyfriend for my birthday :) Service was fab from Ava, manager Kate was very welcoming and the food was delicious :) Will most definitely be returning!

Needing a quick lunch while in the town, I went to Browns in Bath and had a traditional fish and chips paired with a pint of Aspall cider. The well presented dish was delicious, with the generous portion of battered haddock fresh-tasting, and the chips perfectly crunchy. I was delighted by the fast and courteous service provided by server Ava, who efficiently accommodated my tight timeline. Highly recommended.

Yee Lin was such a lovely waitress, she made me and my friend’s experience so much more special! I definitely reccomend the slow-cooked pork belly, it was immaculate. Generally our entire experience here was so warm and comforting, thank you so much Yee Lin for making my birthday a wonderful day! 💖✨

We dined here as a walk table to celebrate an achievement. The hostess was nice, polite and smiley and guided us to a nice table. We were a little surprised as we had previously dined at the Oxford browns a few years back, and by comparison this was a little chabbier e.g. rocking tables, plant pots as wall decorations but without plants etc. It’s January we thought, maybe it’s from the Christmas rush. We sat and noticed how cold it was, so do bring warm clothing if it’s a cold night. We ordered steaks medium rare and a side of potatoes. My steak came out blue, so it was sent back. The same steak came back a while later, by which point my partner had almost finished the meal. Our side of potatoes were still missing despite my partner chasing them up multiple times. When my steak came out I had no cultery so had to get up and chase up as there was infrequent table checking. When I ate, the steak was cooked to medium rare but both steaks by my partner and me had a large quantity of fat compared to what we are used to from other restaurants in the area. Maybe this was a lower quality meat, or just bad luck. The staff really tired their best and were polite with every interaction. But ultimately it was an expensive meal to sit cold, eat at separate times and have fairly mediocre meals. I will say, when the potatoes did finally come out, they were fantastic. Just very late.

Very poor Veggie options Went for Sunday lunch as the menu looked good. There was a good looking veggie roast advertised. However, when we had sat down at 1pm and started drinking our drinks- we were told that there wasn't a Veggie roast available. OK, next option - pumpkin ravioli- also not available. Ended up ordering a beetroot salad- it was the size of a side dish. Nice ambience and building. The standard options looked good. They reported nice roast. Shame not for veggies I'm off to get some food now after a very disappointing Sunday lunch

Lovely restaurant, great food however the fact that they couldn’t serve ‘mocktails’ to 17 year olds spoilt the occasion.

We had a excellent meal at Browns Bath. We ate of the three course festive choice Menu, The food was absolutely tasty and well worth the money spent, Food presentation was spot on. The staff were very polite and coped well with the restaurant being very busy at this festive time, checking we were okay with everything and to top up our drinks. We often eat out here during the year and we have always enjoyed our nights out. We would definitely be going back to eat soon and we have recommended Browns to our friends who sometimes eat at Browns with us.

Great service. Very good food and wine menu. Nice atmosphere. Dinner was excellent and our server was on top of her game, welcoming us and making sure everything was prefect. The only minor area for possible improvement was our table was near the entrance area and my wife found it a little chilly.

We had the set Christmas meal at Browns in Bath, and while the atmosphere was pleasant, the experience left us disappointed. The food was okay but felt very overpriced at £95 per person, especially as no drinks were included. To add to this, our order was brought out incorrectly twice, though the staff did correct it promptly. Despite the nice setting, the cost and service issues made it hard to justify the price.

What an enjoyable festive meal for our party of 3. The braised beef was cooked to perfection, no pink meat and it was so soft and tender. The dessert was equally good. Service was excellent. Restaurant was busy with festive diners and a wedding party. Would like to eat here at other times of the year to experience the different menus.

Yee-Lin our waitress was lovely and made our visit perfect. She was so welcoming and good humoured. We had a wonderful time and the food was delicious. Cannot wait to visit again when we visit Bath again.

Food was delicious, bucks fizz ditto. Best of all was the very young and talented pianist playing near us. He made our day!

Very good food and great place but struggled with even moderate increase in Christmas lunches for work parties. Felt quite anonymous there too.

Work Christmas party at Browns and it was the best one yet and felt so welcomed by the two waiting people that served us. Will have to visit again.

Had a lovely Christmassy meal with the ‘girls’ . Sparkly atmosphere just what we wanted whilst out at the Bath markets. Something on the menu for everyone. Great mocktails for the drivers.

Nice building and friendly staff. Hectic atmosphere, with very little quiet or intimate seating. We went here for our 10 year anniversary and were very disappointed. The table we had was in a noisy corner despite requesting a quiet table on our booking. Shortly after our food arrived, a group in flashing Christmas jumpers and hats sat next to us. This was incredibly distracting and over-stimulating.overall the experience was very disappointing and for the prices they charge, not acceptable. If you have a special occasion planned, go elsewhere

Be aware that when booking a table using The Fork app, the restaurant has no dealing with them. Reserved a table on the Monday for the coming Saturday, to then receive a cancellation email on the Thursday afternoon. Luckily we were down in the evening so went face to face to see if they could accommodate our party of 4 (with Christmas around the corner we couldn’t get a table anywhere at such short notice!). Luckily they managed to book us in, at a slightly different time. However when arriving at the new time, we were told we were 30 minutes early. We just waited at the bar for our table. Food was nice, a little pricey but you do get quality food, so you don’t mind paying a little bit more. Staff was pleasant. Could do with hooks under the table by the bar to hang your coat. Need to pay more attention to the ladies toilets, no paper available!!!

Freezing cold people dinning with coats on ,food mediocre was serve plum and apple crumble and custard ,plums under cooked custard Luke warm and very lumpy .Chef needs to up his game. Very pricey for small portions. Staff however were brilliant. Doubt if I would use again

Visited Browns after a busy day in Bath, with friends. It was comfortable and relaxing, lovely food and very good service.

We had a very disappointing evening. The food was a real let down (turkey main with dry and luke warm meat, soggy roast potatoes , and a disgusting slice of stuffing that looked like it was out of a tin). Others in our party had the beef which was better but overall: slow service throughout, cold beans with the Cod and very poor value for money overall . I’ve had similar quality in low end pub chains

Very mediocre, went on a Saturday night. Service was fine, expensive for what it is. Main course included a fried egg which was totally overcooked. Restaurant was cold. Wouldn't rush back.

Fantastic Bottomless brunch at Browns I would highly recommend Browns. They fitted a group of 7 of us in at extremely short notice, finding us a lovely table upstairs. The set brunch menu had plenty of choice and a selection of bottomless drinks that you can upgrade to Moët if you’re feeling fancy. The Food was good and arrived quickly. All the staff were super but I’d like to give a special mention to our waitress Ava. She was brilliant, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. She is a great ambassador for the restaurant.

Good food, had the blade of beef, gravy a little too salty, otherwise very nice. Atmosphere good, although was not very busy but was early evening. Service by Yee Lin was excellent, very friendly and efficient.

Great food and service, nice setting and good drinks selection. Enjoyed the chicken and leek pie, the crumble was also excellent. Highly recommended.

Went for Sunday roast, pleasantly surprised to be accompanied by live piano music! Food was excellent and generous portion. Our waitress May Ling was great.

Yee-Lin absolutely made our experience tonight! Restaurant was really cold and empty and our drinks were made wrong but the humour and care with attention to detail Yee-Lin provided made the experience for us on our first visit to bath. Food was also fantastic 10oz ribeye and the fish and chips were piping hot and served quickly :) Thank you Yee- Lin and the kitchen team!

We were very impressed by the staff and the generous portions. Rare in this day & age. Highly recommend a visit. Probably best to book on busier days. Maybe wear a warm top too as the expansive Regency building was a little chilly. Overall good value for money.

We had an asparagus and mushrooms starter followed by the Sunday Roast. After a week of pretty good food in London, our first meal here in Bath won top meal.

It was my first visit and I am totally impressed by the food and service. Our waitress Alexandra gave us great service and she made by day Thank you for lovely service. We will be back soon .

Had the steak and lobster for main, the lobster was way over cooked. Heating wasn't on too, when it was a pretty cold night. Steak and starters were good though. For £150+ expected better.

Charged service for 2 drinks. There wasn't any toilet paper in gents or ladies and the ladies toilets didn't flush properly. Paid £18 for a glass of prosecco and a pint.

We were there on a Friday night and Yee-Lin was our server. We have been coming here for years. We always look forward to seeing Yee-Lin because she has a smile on her face and a happy disposition. She is attentive and funny. We loved the fish & chips with chunky fries. The booth seating is comfortable with pillows and the lights were dimmed for evening dining. We would reccomend Brown's. The food is good and service is exceptional.

Had afternoon tea at Browns today; impressed with relaxed but attentive service. Food was very enjoyable - more than enough too. Great table service from Yee Lin. Recommended.

A cheap, chewy, overcooked, tasteless piece of chicken, accompanied by soggy chips and a stingy portion of frozen peas. They also forgot to include my dessert. Utterly appalled at their prices but delighted to say I will never repeat this experience!

Visiting from Bulgaria with my family today. Very rude male possibly a waiter, staff said to my 18 year old daughter (who is visiting first time in UK), “we are not taking walk-ins” and walked off… (which is fair enough not to be taking walk-in’s if busy), but the manner we were treated/spoken to was totally different to any of the many extremely polite experiences I have had at Browns before. Rude, rude, rude! Please be nice, it costs nothing!

From the moment we sat down the staff treated us extremely well. We related the story of us and they served us a free drink (we were celebrating our 50th anniversary). The atmosphere was romantic and my partner and I felt like we were the only patrons. The food was fantastic, hot and tasted great. Again the servers did not rush us and let us enjoy a fantastic evening out. Thank you so much!

We are on holiday in the UK and went to this restaurant in Bath for lunch. My wife ordered Pan Seared Sea Bass and I ordered a lamb Shepard’s Pie. Both dishes were excellently prepared. The flavors and texture were perfect. My wife commented this was the best meal she has had in the UK. The atmosphere was great for a relaxed lunch. The prices are reasonable as well. We would recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Bath.

Nice surroundings and a great waitress but let down by the quality of the food. Out of three fillet steaks ordered two were overcooked. I ordered a rib eye steak which looked suspiciously like rump steak and was tough as old boots. Won’t be going back.

Really surprised by reviews vs foods we tried. Don’t try fish and chips. The fish tastes really bad. Sea bass was good. Chicken skewers were boiled chickens, tasteless. Vegetables were not fresh… how other rated 5star?! We had 3 different dishes and nothing tasted good. Even the schnitzel tasted boiled chicken and it was watery. It took 40 minutes to get the food and we ate almost all but feel uncomfortable. What a beautiful location and atmosphere but not tasty and fresh food. Not trusting reviews here anymore.

I came to Brown's Bath and I was certainly not disappointed. My niece hired the room upstairs from the moment we all arrived the service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for Phil, my niece wanted all of us to sit on the same table as opposed to two tables which originally was laid up for a party of 18 people. It was more than adequate but not for my niece she changed the seating 3 times until we were all on the same table poor Phil obliged her with a cheerful smile and did what she wanted. With the help of Ava & Fran collected knives, forks, spoons and napkins all with a lovely smile. We all ended up laughing over this. Phil, Ava & Fran gave such excellent service. The food arrived exactly the way we all preordered. The atmosphere was superb and how beautiful the place was. It all contributed for us having such a lovely Sunday lunch in a beautiful Place and lovely location of Bath right opposite the Abbey. Fully recommend Browns in Bath. They was a big problem if you are disabled and booked upstairs no lift and my 89 year old sister had to walk up two flights of stairs despite suffering from Arthritis thought that a lift would have been soo much easier.

We had a fantastic night! Ava was brilliant she was very attentive made sure everything was perfect and even surprised us with a special message plate when she discovered we were celebrating our anniversary! The food was excellent great choice (we are vegetarian) and both enjoyed different dishes to complement our taste preferences! Overall it was fantastic thank you Browns and thank you Ava!

Had a lovely evening celebrating with my daughter, staff very accommodating and catered for my disability. Food was fantastic some seemed over priced however once tasted you could justify the cost. Great decor spacious seating so u don't feel crammed in. Staff very polite and would recommend if you want good quality food.

Ah, if only the spectacular view could fill one’s stomach… after seeing some good reviews we decided to try this place out, however these reviews show nothing more than proof that there are no shortages of people wanting to eat bad food in historic buildings. On arrival the maitre d’ made us wait to be seated, apparently for no other reason than because he could. My advice - take a look at the staff on the way in because that’s the last you’ll see of them. About 10 minutes into our meal I realised that the owner, the chef and I have lost interest, the primary attraction was the wildlife wandering across the table, overal the food was wonderfully underwhelming , I took the remainder of my steak home and even my dog refused it. Will not be retuning

It’s without hesitation that I recommend Browns in Bath, wonderful atmosphere and great food, lobster was sublime!
