A good option out from the main town, food was decent. Friendly staff, but let down by very limited beer selection and a beer that tastes like the pipes need a clean.

We’ve had occasion over the past week to visit this delightful gastropub twice (due to our kitchen renovation). Having not been before we were unsure what to expect overall. On both occasions we were greeted by delightful staff and given a nice table near the bar (now our go to table!). The food was extremely good with consistent quality and the wine was very well priced which is unusual in Bath. This lovely place is now our favourite in Bath and we are left wondering why we haven’t visited before!!!

Lovely autumn day walking home from Bath city centre, we stopped off for a drink and light lunch in the garden. Such a great sun trap it was delightful sitting outside. As ever great food and drinks - they know how to keep their ales! To top it off we were served by Callum whose big personality added a sparkle to the whole event.

Hi we used to be locals here as we live nearby..we have been to a few of their steak nights and Sunday lunches and breakfast. We went there last time for early drinks for my partners 69th birthday drinks just the 2 of us..a young waitress..she only looked about 16 years young told us to drink up and go without any explanation..maybe cos we were smoking 🚬 in there outside space..no rules against that is there? And no signs up..they allow dogs and probably babies that scream too but nothing normal for adults..will never give them the time of day again unless they change their pyjamas..sorry policies.. Shame..it was a good place to go after a round of ⛳ golf opposite but in our opinion far too expensive anyway.

My friend & I visited for Sunday Lunch. Both had Roast Chicken followed by Sticky Toffee pudding, all washed down with a lovely sparkling rose Prosecco. Everything was delicious. Staff very friendly. Would highly recommend. (Minor point, I would have preferred not to have the gravy poured over the lovely crispy roast potatoes as it defeats the object)

Booked a table for dinner with family who were visiting. Some of our group arrived early to feed their baby ahead of the meal, an hour into the meal we were told the table was needed back for another booking - staff were very rude and wouldn't allow us to order a second drink as they wanted the table back for another group. The Bath Pub Company used to be great - since St Austell have been involved they have really gone down hill. If you want a good gastro pub in this part of town I'd try the Chequers or even Beckford Canteen instead.

Me & my partner came on 11/08/24 for my birthday meal. The tavern was very lovely and we were offered the choice to sit outside. Plenty of seating inside and outside, both great options for s really nice and hot sunny day. As we were given the menus, we were offered some table water immediately, which was brilliant. However, we were not asked if we would like any other drinks to start with, which would usually happen in any pub after the menus are given to us, and we would usually expect. Moreover, we did wait a while before being served, at least 15 minutes. On the other hand, the service was lovely once the staff arrived to our table to take our orders. (If you didn’t fancy a roast, there are other lovely options on the menu including sharing and starters) The food was given to us quickly and was presented very well. I had the roast chicken, which included bread sauce, stuffing, roast potatoes, veg & red wine gravy (there was a good variety of roasts on the menu, including a vegan option). The roast was delicious! Lovely buttery carrots, crispy roast potatoes, and the bone-on chicken was very tasty and juicy - best chicken I’ve had in a while! Surprised to have a giant yorkshire pudding - even that was very delicious! The dessert menus were given to us quickly, but staff were still slow in taking our dessert orders. Nonetheless, the desserts were - likewise - delicious! The salted caramel ice cream matched perfectly with the warm chocolate brownie. In the end, we did have to get up and ask for the bill at the bar because we waited another 15 minutes (with our empty plates) to be served. Overall, the food was very lovely and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, because of the slow service, I did have to knock a star down. Nonetheless, we would still come here again!

We went for the Sunday roast and could honestly happily drown in that red wine gravy. Anything you dunked into it tasted ten times better. The pork belly roast was very tender and tasty. The salt and pepper squid and bruschetta were both tasty, and sized as an individual appetizer. The main issue is that everything that wasn't the gravy lacked seasoning. While it's more understandable for the roast and sides served with the roast (Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables, roast potatoes) since it's expected that you'd dunk it in the gravy, other items/additional sides also lacked seasoning. The Yorkshire pudding and fries both could have used a bit more salt and the "artisanal" breads were very dry. Additionally, service from our primary server was not very attentive, although other staff really tried to make up for it.

We came last weekend and had a great time. We ordered some of the small plates and a couple bottles of wine. The food was good and their beer garden is lovely. I am however slightly irked that I paid for service charge. I ordered our first drinks at the bar and was told I had to return to make a food order. This was no problem. I returned to the bar. After ordering our food, I was provided with some cutlery at the bar and so I set our table. That was absolutely fine. Our food was good and it arrived promptly. I would note that no one came to check in on us after the food had arrived. We had empty plates stacked on our table for some time after we finished. The pub wasn’t particularly busy. To be honest, I’m not too fussed about any of it but I feel these are the most basic steps in service. I returned to the bar to order a second order of drinks and food. Our first drinks were never cleared. Doesn’t bother me. Neither of the two members of staff I interacted with made much of an effort to pretend like they were welcoming. That’s okay, I don’t take it personally. I returned to the bar. I asked for the bill, which included the service, around 100£, and I felt uncomfortable asking them to remove the service. Tronc is not an insignificant part of someone’s paycheck. I work in a pub. As a business, if you don’t do the bare minimum, you have no right to charge service. You’ll say it’s discretionary, I know, but if you were more honest you’d never have added onto our bill in the first place.

Lovely NZ Sauvignon Blanc too. Would be nice to see a greater range of draught beers but what they had was good. The staff were very pleasant but the service was too slow mainly, I think, due to wait staff not keeping a keen enough eye on the tables. It was a late lunch and no where near as busy as I've seen it in the past so it could have been slicker. Maybe the staff are a bit inexperienced - I didn't recognise any of the staff I'd seen in the past. Still, a nice experience.
