Came a couple of years ago seems to have got a bit tired could do with a makeover I had a orange juice wife had a cup of hot water for a tea because they haven't got much choice at all and they charged us for hot water

I have visited here a few times over a period of a few years. It can be hit & miss. There have been some positive experiences and they have a great beer garden but there have been times when the food hasnt been so great e.g. they ask you how well you'd like your steak cooked and its unlikely to reflect what you ordered or there have been times tthey'verun out of popular dishes even on a theme night. There are worse places though and the wetherspoons app has made it so much better as you dont have to deal with some rowdy punters at the bar (usually during weekend evenings) or long queues

Staff were very helpful and the food was excellent

Quite a nice place to kill some time, reasonably priced but oh my goodness they need more staff. Tables were left with debris from the past customers and the tables were very sticky. Served by really nice girl just doing her best

Whetherspoons is the same no matter where you go. Food is pretty good. The carpets need a good scrub as the smell emanating from them isn't great.

Staff to busy chatting when waiting for drink

Went today after a long trip, not only did the food take ages to come out, when it did the chicken was burnt and the supposed gourmet burger, was not gourmet at all, more like a kids burger and the kids pizza was mostly cold. The drinks were nice, but took an age to be delivered, although it was quite busy.

Not the best experience or food. There is work going on so the building was covered in scaffolding. The app was not working and the food wasn't up to standard.

Went to this pub the beginning of July on 2 occasions as was visiting family in Plymouth. First visit, my brothers food was completely wrong. I took the menu to the bar and pointed out exactly what I wanted to order and had almost finished my meal by the time his was brought out. Second visit, I was on my own and the supervisor tried to take away my unfinished pint on two separate occasions. Once when needing the toilet and then when ordering another pint, I had a jacket on the stool where I was sitting and my glasses on the table. The same day, just before leaving I asked an employee, a girl with blond hair, who I'm sure was a supervisor too, directions to the station. Not an unreasonable question you would think as I'm not from the area. She made me feel very uncomfortable and was giving the customer standing next to me a look as if to say "why doesn't he know" The directions she gave me were " go out the doors and walk straight up" It was a fair walk but she could have been a lot clearer and friendlier. Definitely needs Improving on all levels

Great beer great food great price

Food is mediocre at best. Cocktails are more fruit juice then alcohol and the service is slow

Absolutely awfull, very poor food, would not visit again, infact I joked that the burger was still alive as it had eat all the chips, burger was tiny as well. Used to be good value food, now it's just rubbish and small portions with inflated prices. Soda drinks were sent back as no flavour either.......complete rubbish.... I used to like Weatherspoons.......

Popped in for breakfast as my car was being MOT'd, very quick service, the breakfast was more than enough, and the refill hot drink very much enjoyed. The staff were brilliant. They looked after all of their customers with curtesy and kindness, and I will definitely be back.

The Wetherspoon is a playground for Plymouth's youth. If you put your mind to it, you can eat reasonably well and, above all, drink cheaply... the food thing isn't really meant seriously...

Come here quite regularly the staff seem over worked on busy days and some are clearly not interested in the customers unfortunately although Julie always seems consistent and rarely stops she has brought drinks and food to me and my family a few times smiles and very friendly, and goes out of her way to keep everyone happy. Thank you.

Enjoyed good food and good service here. Parking was just outside and view was terrific.

It was OK and about average for a weatherspoons. Fish overcooked, chips undercooked but the food came out very quick from the kitchen.

It's a nice big pub with a nice garden which is also big. Good atmosphere. The only bad thing Is the lack of staff, the time you have to wait either at the bar or table service is ridiculous, staff try their hardest but there simply isn't enough.

Enjoyed a bite to eat and a pint and not expensive.

I bought mushroom benedict for my sister this morning 21st May 24. Eggs were hard, 1 very small, dry wrinkled mushroom per half a dried out muffin. Nobody asked if it was OK and unfortunately my sister was too embarrassed to let me complain. I've eaten at Wetherspoons many times before and know what to expect. This was terrible!

Service was poor. Run out of some drinks. Tables were dirty, covered in crockery and mess. There were staff wondering around but they didn't clear the tables. Didn't stay.

I think I've previously been spoiled by other wetherspoons because this one really missed the mark for me. The portions were very small, but honestly the part that killed me was I ordered a cocktailed and they poured it out of a can and put the saddest most bedraggled strawberry I'd ever seen on the edge. The server looked so upset my friend dining with me wanted to help them. They appeared to be massively understaffed resulting in the bar team being in constant motion to keep up with the people. It was not a great vibe, needs more staff to improve the experience so it doesn't feel like entering a rising water level in a video game

Great service, our server Alison was very helpful and friendly and even helped clean up a spilt drink on our table

Very busy, slow service, drink came after nearly finished meals, only q slice han, should be 2, and no chips with small brunch, tho menu states chips, will not be rushing back

We decided to have breakfast here before catching our respective trains home. Pleasant surroundings. Decent breakfast. I had the small vegan, and my friend had the large full English.

Really poor choice of ales [either coming soon or run out.] Plastic glasses. Manic queues with few staff and piles upon piles of unwashed glasses. An endurance more than a pleasure.

Loved it here! Frank and Jake were lovely and helped us with your drink order. They were very kind and made us all night, great vibes ans will definitely be back! Love them x

Took an age to get served, would not recommend.

Just had our usual Friday lunch at Wetherspoons Union Rooms plymouth. My daughter is gluten intolerant so we were hoping for baked potatoes to be on the menu. No baked potatoes. So she had apple crumble. I ordered Beyond Burger and chips. After a long wait of 30 minutes this arrived - it was practically cold!! This is not what we expect from our Friday lunch times at Union Rooms. Usually the food is served within 15 minutes and is hot! And baked potatoes are on the menu. I did notice that the usual attentive staff were not working today - Friday 3rd May 12pm.

Me and my partner frequent The Union Rooms every time we’re in Plymouth for their jugs - my partner is a particular fan of the BubbleGin Jug. However, upon our recent visit we were told they were off out of the Bubble Gin even though we could see it on the shelf behind the worker. We asked instead for Sex on the Beach and told they were out of that as well, even though, again, we could see the ingredients behind the worker. A manager walked past at this point and we asked why we were told we couldn’t have a Bubble Gin jug when it was there and was answered with “well the worker is new so doesn’t know how to make them”. We then asked the manager if she wouldn’t mind making one now she was here and she scoffed and walked away. We’ve never been bowled over by the customer service in this place, the security guards and the manager with all the facial piercings and Mohawk tending to be the only polite ones we encounter. However, to be openly scoffed at and walked away from was a new low.

Called in for breakfast on a rainy Thursday morning. Definitely one of the nicest Wetherspoons pubs I've ever visited - and I've been to a lot in my time. Food was good and the staff were really lovely. Will definitely call in again on my next visit to Plymouth.

Alison is amazing person very lovely even when we spilled a drink on the table very bubbley made me very welcome.

Wetherspoon circa 2024, 7:32pm, Tuesday 13th of January, a dreary, miserable night, newly divorced. I was looking for some comfort inside the warm, homely walls that is Wetherspoon. Unfortunately, comfort is the last word I would use to describe the harrowing events that took place this night. Upon arrival, I was immediately flagged for expressing myself, I’m what you call a Therian. Everywhere I go I am met with evil stares, but Wetherspoon… I thought you’d be different. They asked me if my 14 foot long tail would be a problem for other patrons, I instantly bewildered. Who do they think they are? My therian senses tingled, a familiar scent. I slowly turn my head to table 106, it’s my furry fellow Thomathy! (xe/xem) (aroace) (pupgender). “Fret not, she’s house trained,” xey said, thank God for people like xem in this world. Xe practically saved my life. I was seated at table 106 and was ready to get ordering. I decided on my usual, kibble wrap in a dog bowl with Francesca engraved across the front. They were NOT respectful towards my wishes, I fell to my knees “n..no w..wait,” I howl at the moon, and what do I see across the table? Thomathy, cunningly tapping xer fingers together, “That was beautiful, don’t worry I won’t tell a soul.” I was aghast, xey unzipped xer therian suit and what do I see? The baker’s wife (she once robbed me, harassed me, rooted through my rutabaga, raided my argula) (that’s another story, never mind, anyway), a dreadful sight indeed…the once calm atmosphere now filled with despair, I felt an overbearing sense of forlorn as all the memories came flooding in, my stance strengthened as I readied to pounce; “I’m not letting you get away, not this time…” Her eyebrows furrowed at me, I could sense her growing rage 😡 Swiftly, before I could do anything else…A cyclist came crashing in!!!! Now if you know anything about me (Reginald) (owner of great Dane Chihuahua cross) (not bragging by the way) you would know, I have a sense to foresee chaotic events regarding cyclists. My attention shifted, I had save *EVERYTHING* in this room (it’s my duty as a Therian citizen) I did a 360 degree spinning hook kick (really hard karate move by the way) right against the cyclist’s temple. BAM! instantly KNOCKED! “K.O” I thought, no more pesky cyclists to bother me. I was thrilled, until I saw the glaring eyes of everyone in front of me staring back.. *gulp* “she’s right behind me, isn’t she..?” Suddenly, a blunt force conquered me. All those years I had spent trying to forget, all those hours I had spent in therapy, all those thoughts I had pondered so heavily… all for nothing. The cow head, IT WAS BACK. I grabbed the rifle from my back pocket, NOT THIS TIME, I repeated over and over in my head. Revenge is best served between served between two sesame brioche buns (like a burger lol), “DATTEBAYO!” I exclaimed, summoning the anime gods to come watch over me; 99 diet cokes fled from their generous, golden hands, all the fuel I needed. I quickly chugged the liquid ecstasy. THE 540 KICK! I once swore to my sensei I would never utilise this move, it was far too powerful for any sentient being, but the world was pushing my limits today… NEEDLESS TO SAY, she won’t be messing with me again. (By the way this move is really hard so don’t try to do it) Overall pretty iffy experience up to u if u wanna go here

Same food and drinks as in any other spoons establishment. The inside is a bit more fancy than the average spoons and the only downside of this place is that the food and drinks will take a long time

An excellent example of Wetherspoonery. Good basic food, fine Ale and good staff. Have eaten here many times over the years and it's never let me down. Free wifi too.

Last Wednesday me and my friends visited this pub and ally provided excellent service to us and recommended us what cocktails to order and they were delicious!! Thank you so much ally, we will be returning!!!

Quite nice during the day, nice cosy atmosphere, didnt have food, however the red wine I had is on tap, came out looking really cloudy, and didn't taste right. This is the second time I have had red wine from spoons, and thought it was awful, couldn't finish it!

Disappointing last time I visited last year. Thought I'd give it another try. I'm sorry to leave a negative post, but cold food on cold plates.

It’s a Wetherspoons so food is cheap and you know what you are going to get . The staff are particularly nice in this one .

Me and my family went to this wetherspoons on Tuesday evening. It wasn’t overly busy and many tables were available upstairs. However, the food took over 30 minutes to come despite saying it would only take 13 minutes. Staff were not friendly and did not talk to us, even when they brought the food or drinks out, they just put the stuff on the table anywhere. I picked my plate up and it was boiling hot, and staff had not warned me about this. Once we finally had the food, the chips had gone cold and my chicken was burnt and chewy. It was very obvious they had been left cooking for too long and then left to go cold. Very disappointed by this service as this wetherspoons is normally alright.

Met my family for breakfast, normally don't have a problem here. But this visit wasn't so hot, food looked a bit dried up and over cooked also it was Luke warm. Not impressed....won't put me off unless it happens again..

Wetherspoons is cheap and cheerful but you understand that when you go. That said normally Wetherspoons do have high standards. Yesterday 10 th went in the union bar service was very good and friendly. Went back up to order food again order taken very well. Ordered southern fried chicken basket for 2 with chips. Well from order at bar to delivery to table 6 minutes ( our table number number 8 ) The chips warm and had been left in the fryer basket. Different size in chip portions. Chicken should be 5 pieces 1 plate on had 4 pieces. Both plates of chicken dry and over cooked and became more chewy. Told the waiter and he came back with another piece of chicken exactly the same as the other ones. So this was all pre cooked and left to aid quick service. We left 3/4 of our meal.

Staff were good so no complaints on them but the burgers were tiny and got about 15 chips and was like £10. Spoons is just an absolute rip off now. It tasted ok and that's about it

Spoons is spoons! This one nicely set out with tables over a few levels. Quick service and good choice of drinks. Downside was plastic glasses (due to that day's footie match maybe?). Didn't have food so can't rate it

Ordered food and my wife food came out cold. So I went to the bar to tell them about it and one guy says I get the manager. Whilst I was standing there with the food. The manager was hovering around me and also I wasn't aware he had spoken to my wife and got her meal redone. I was still stood at the bar unaware of this. Whilst my food got cold eventually I spoke to another member of staff who helped me find the manager. Who had explained he had spoken and sorted out the meal but they never told me. When I came back to the table to eat my food it was stone cold. Definitely needs inproving on communication with staff and customers alike and food needs to be improved

My family and I go to this Wetherspoon pub regularly, usually a couple times a week. Consistently the measure of the pints (so called) have been reduced week on week; today, every single one of our five pints were centimetres below a full measure. Having garnered the attention of a staff member, after chasing up a meal which was not sent out, I informed them of the situation. This was not met with understanding, nor apology for the consistent error: just “ask for a top up when they bring it out”. I had accepted the laconic measure and only wanted the issue noted and passed on to the requisite bar staff, to avoid such poor practice in future. Henceforth, I will always correct the staff on first receipt of the pint; I will not consider it a momentary lapse due to human error.

This is our go to place when we are at a loose end and want a quick meal. It's large with plenty of space. Food is good value for money.

Food is alright nothing special service can be quick but when it gets to busy your looking at waiting 10 to 15 mins to get your drink

My elder daughter visited this venue in the evening for drinks, she was being harassed there by another female customer,when she tried to get a bouncer/security person to help her, he said he didn't and she was left there in tears, this should not have happened,awful behaviour

It is what it is, cheep and cheerful,not recommended if you want a decent meal
