The Union Rooms in Plymouth

I recently visited westherspoons and I was blown away by the fantastic service from Lenn. She was incredibly helpful when I needed assistance with my drink and really went the extra mile to make sure everything was just right, she hadn’t even started her shift yet ! It’s rare to come across someone so dedicated and genuinely helpful. A huge thank you to Lenn for making my experience so enjoyable. 25 mins for a drinks order using the app only to be told that the bottle of wine was unavailable. No apology- asked for refund and left. Shocking customer service. Also how can you order and pay for something unavailable?? Surely you have stock control?

This is a very friendly Weatherspoons with good beer and very good service, we had supper that was great value for money. and return for breakfast that again was serviced with a smile and again great value. If in Plymouth, the Union rooms are worth a visit.

Ordered food and drink on app place wasn't busy,took 35 mins for both to arrive. Beer was flat and warm so obviously had been poured a while ago and my wife's drink turned up in a bottle with no straw. Pretty poor service really.

A lovely time was had by all of as celebrating an 18th B'day. When we all ordered food and drinks it was good to see that every was served at the same time.

Worst Wetherspoons we have experienced. Friday 27th December 6ish.Tables available but no chairs. Member of staff managed to find a couple of chairs for us. Ordered food and 2 guest ales. 1 pulled ok other ran out. Ony 1 other ale available, which was a local to where I come from 200miles away. pout of a possible 15 hand pumps.

Awful Spoons. Very cold ex car showroom. I ordered a Korean chicken bowl but was given a child vegan half bowl. Door staff can't speak English so I wonder how that works out on a busy night. Avoid.

Definitely at the lower end of the cost scale, which was great. Good quality was pretty good too, some of it was a bit colder than I'd have liked but not worth complaining about it at the time.

Food was not up to standard. We ordered at 1715 and got served 1800 Childs pasta, minuscule not enough for a hungry 7yr old. American burger dry and overcooked small portion of chips, burrito salad rice hard, added chicken which was similar to the cheap chicken bits you buy for sandwich filler. Had no chance to complain and send back as we needed to be at the Theatre for 630. Would have had a much better meal at Macdonalds. Worse Spoons meal we have had. Will not return

Service with a smile. Sadly steak was overcooked. No real atmosphere. Could do with some background music

It was a great experience. I needed to unwind with friends and it was all encompassing though noisier than I had imagined but it was worth it.

Went for breakfast today. Advertised as having breakfast until 12pm. They had absolutely nothing except 'bacon butties' at nearly a fiver. Ordered one. Staff were great, very apologetic. Butty was awful. Stringy undercooked bacon between 2 slices of white bread. That's me done with Wetherspoons.

Went in for breakfast ran out of everything so waited for lunch menu ordered large ham egg and chips no ham two hard fried eggs with 6 chips, wouldn’t bother going in everyone on out table said there food was terrible

Got rejected entry because I wore a tracksuit, 2 hours before I was fine. This is actual pick and choose entry and unfair to anyone who wears a "tracksuit"

Usually pretty busy but the staff is friendly and well organised as far as I'm concerned. Good night out in the summer as well

What can I say? It's a spoons. Perfectly suitable if you're looking to bully men into buying you shots. (Also please enable app orders for outside !!)

Good place to go for some food and drink which is quite nice pricing and has nice atmosphere and very good servicing

Probably the worst wetherspoons I've visited, the food was shockingly bad, I ordered a meat feast pizza, which was burnt on one side and there was hardly any meat on it, also I ordered a side of garlic mayo and got a thimble full in a little pot full of water, I really wish I had complained at the time but I just wanted out of there.

Ordered food and drinks online the drinks came out fast,it took over 20 minutes for the food to come out and some of the food was cold. We complained and sent some back we waited another 25 minutes started to eat and the prats on the table next to us thrown something on our food. The staff wasn't really bothered but one member of staff was very sorry but she said she was arguing with the kitchen staff

Food seams to be hit and miss. . Depending on who is in the kitchen. . Sometimes I get 4 bits of toast with my breakfast. Other times. 2. And same with . Mushrooms. On day I get one other times. I don't. . Have sent food back b4. And asked for a refund. . That's mainly the steak. Its tough. Over cooked. And don't order it no more. . The tall manager in white shirt and tie. Was quite rude. About it. . But having. 38 years. In the prison service I've delt with people. Like him b4. . That's my honest opinion. .Will still go there. As its handy for lunch. .

Wow this place has gone downhill. Breakfasts were sent to us incorrectly multiple times, one breakfast had a raw mushroom and no egg, and when we sent it back it came back again with an extra sausage but still a raw mushroom and all the other issues. In addition, 4 plates were missed entirely and finally showed up after we chased it up with the FoH staff. When the food finally arrived correctly it was mainly lukewarm, with toast that was burnt yet somehow cold. On top of this coffee cups were given to us that were dirty. Very disappointed and should have asked for a refund to be honest.

We visited The Union Rooms for breakfast after a night out, and it was exactly what you'd expect from a Wetherspoons—consistent and reliable. There was plenty of space to accommodate our group of seven comfortably, which was a big plus. The coffee was great, the breakfast was hearty and hit the spot, and the value for money was fantastic as always. It’s the perfect place for a no-fuss, affordable breakfast to recover and recharge. Would definitely recommend for groups or anyone looking for a solid start to their day!

Enjoythe place good service and fruebdly

I went for a breakfast and got stuck in a que. Because that made me 2mins late, they refused to do the breakfast. I told them I was stuck in the que, but they didn't care.. You know what? I don't care either.. I'll take my business else where..

This Wetherspoons is lovely, one of the nicest looking ones I’ve been in. But unfortunately that’s as far as it goes… one of the staff were a bit rude, rushing my ordering process because of being on a cash till. The lady with the red hair, was lovely though. Really good service from her! When the food came out, it was very disappointing. The pizza is the worst I’ve ever had and i always order the same thing in Wetherspoons. I ordered with no chili and ended up with (almost) no chicken and non of the rocket or whatever salad it is either. Also had with waaay too much crust on the pizza - the child’s one with it being smaller was awful for it… almost no edible pizza because it was so overcooked you couldn’t crunch through the crust. The mixed grill, the cuts of meat were very disappointing. Decent quality to a degree but size and was awful. And on I believe it’s called Korean chicken (with coconut rice) there were no chilis on this like there was supposed to be either. So maybe an ok visit for a quick drink but certainly wouldn’t recommend food here.

Much improved from last visit. Food, good as always. Tables clean and no dishes piled up in hatch. Still cannot get orange cordial for my brandy. Why?

This place always makes me laugh! 5 times in 10 days I've been here on my yearly visit to Plymouth and 4 have been an utter mess! Tables have been a joke..... Staff have looked like dressing is an issue and the gents toilet smelt so bad, that the hairs in my nose no longer needed clipping! And now on the weekend they charge to be allowed inside!!! I Just Can't! 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 All this said...... I'll be back time and time again for as long as I live!

It's Spoons! You know what you're getting! Food is ok. Drinks are cheap. Chip portions are getting smaller; Burrito bowl was huge.

Food blows. But even worse is the service. It's the worst I've ever witnessed. Even the bouncers bully those who enter. You're best getting the manager as soon as you walk in because you're gonna need back up.

Slow service as only 1 member of staff (about 10.30ish) taking breakfast orders, drinks and trying to fill the glass shelves! 2 standard breakfasts arrived - stone cold! Spoke to member of staff who offered a replacement. 2 replacement breakfasts arrived - stone cold AGAIN!!! Eventually spoke to the manager - offered replacements again. This time they were just edible but the occasion was ruined. Over an hour, 6 breakfasts, 2 edible - absolute rubbish. Never again!

Staff are clearly hard working, hats off to them, but what baffles me is how such a large weatherspoons is constantly and consistently out of eggs benedict. Infuriates me when I go down for a breakfast once a week and the only thing I enjoy is unavailable week after week.

Really nice place good friendly staff and good food very clean and tidy One worth visiting

It does what it says on the tin. A good value for money dining experience. Fish, chips, mushy peas and a pint, all for £8.20. Part of their Monday to Friday mid afternoon deal. Table service without too much of a wait. Better value than the golden arches me thinks.

Still tons of dishes piled high around the hatch. There was no tomato on our sode salad. This was explained after we had eaten our meal. No delivery apparently. The staff are always polite and cheerful and seem on the go all the time.

Came in for breakfast but left disappointed. Nearly cold food, egg was square and bacon was chewy. My first coffee was nice but the second one was only half a cup so don’t think the machine was working properly. No body was clearing the tables so you had to wipe it over yourself. Only plus was it’s cheap at £2.99 plus £1.59 refill coffee. It’s a shame as we’ve eaten some really good Wetherspoon breakfasts at other locations where they freshly cook your eggs.

Have come to this Wetherspoons a few times with friends over the past couple of months, however the more we have come the more we have noticed many issues. First off, I am still awaiting a refund from nearly a month ago for food that never arrived, though the money was taken, and I am still jumping through hoops to have this refund processed. On top of this, a general lack of hygiene is evident throughout. You can excuse the sticky tables and empty glasses everywhere so much, but when there is no nozzle on the post mix guns (to ensure the correct syrup ratio) and dirt that is supposedly ‘marker’ from the waste count on our pitcher jugs it becomes unacceptable. Why is waste being completed in jugs that are used to serve the public? The staff at the bar are lovely, possibly the only redeeming factor, however the management staff have been repeatedly dismissive of queries from myself and other guests, to the extent of being plain rude. The food is often alright, though the serving sizes very inconsistent, such as hardly any nachos paired with hardly any cheese, hardly worth the nearly £6 charged. Additionally, the so called ‘pizza’ is more of a burnt flatbread, black around the edges and nothing to it. There are many other local pubs in the city centre far more deserving of your time and money.

Menu is limited due to shortage of items including bread and butter. Some drinks were not available, mixing head for coke, soda, etc. not working. All in all, it was pretty dire for a Spoons. Staff were very welcoming and apologetic. I felt sorry for them having to put up with people moaning at them. It's clearly not their fault.

Curry in resatraunt, 50 quid ish. Curry chips or rice nann pomperdoms and a pint £11.99. What's not to like and we were full after it.

The upstairs seating is nice, and so was the food. The atmosphere was very cosy on my last visit, and my food was about what I'd expect from any wetherspoons.

A standard wetherspoons in many ways, though this was a quiet Sunday, many food options were unavailable and there was nothing to advise what so alot of time spent trying to order. Service was OK though felt rushed.

Great food, but unfortunately, poor service. Too few staff to cope with the drinks orders. We waited just under two hours for an app order for a drink. Received a rude reception when I enquired after my drinks. I was then given two pints instead of two pitchers. To frustrated to complain.

Sorry - there are 4 Wetherspoons in Plymouth. I've been to all of them and from my last visit this is the worst, which is a shame because its a nice setting and quite roomy. The staff at the bar were giving priority to screen orders and not those people queuing. We had to clear dishes from the people before. We had to wait ages for our order and people who had come in behind us were getting their meals before us. When ours came the chips were cold and my burger was slightly burnt and rock hard on one side. We simply didn't have the time to send it back and wait for another. Won't be going there again. Prefer Mutley Plain or The Brit.

2 days in a row we have been in here and they don't have menu items. This morning they have no sausages, muffins and fruit. plus other items. Also they won't replace the sausages with another item. They expect you to order a breakfast, pay the normal price and just get no sausage. What a poorly run weatherspoons.

This place offers a cheap pint 🍺 That is all, I'm sad to say Ladies & Gents. The bar manager was stressed and his more junior colleague could have done a better job than them. A good pint was served though, so kudos to the Wetherspoon empire. 'spoons service had gone downhill so much in the past 10-15 years, I'm sad to say, all. A cheap pint? Great Spoons, loads of room, friendly staff and food and drinks fab as well. Nice friendly pub.

Used for the EV charging. Quite convoluted setup and wasn’t sure on parking/EV charging /idle fees once charged so it was a brief visit. Wish it was more simple.

Had a "gourmet" sirloin steak, asked for very well done, meat was still pink on the inside and chewy. No sauces were available ( they only had vinegar and tartare sauce left, and the steak sauces were also unavailable).

Pleasant environment, can often be a bit too busy and slightly slow service if ordering through the app, but ultimately a nice, cheap, easy place to eat and drink out!

This is the worst place to eat. The food was discusting. The tables full of dirty plates, food littered the floor. The chairs & carpets heavily stained with god knows what. But then it is a Weatherspoons it's cheap so what do you expect

Very enjoyable place for coffee and breakfast

The worst breakfast I have ever had gave us no beans when we clearly said one breakfast without beans . They gave us toast without butter didn't tell us before ordering won't of ordered was a very dry breakfast the egg were over cooked. Even changed the tea bags to weaker tea no happy sorry we are good customers and won't be back .

Southern fried chicken wrap is something else. Great place and affordable prices.

Had a mixed grill the meat was over cooked and dry. Although meal came with drink we didn't receive it. The people we were with had fish and chips which theysaid was very good.

It's a very busy Spoons, service really good but gets very busy. Lots of student's at night. Very Friendly staff and clientele. The food was better than most Spoons I've tried.

Visited for the first time to drop my son off to university. Multiple tables left with dirty plates and glasses which had not be cleared or wiped down. Slow service at the bar as only one girl serving. The food was very poor. America burger looked completely unappetising. Two dried up burgers in a burnt, toasted bun. The meat on the mixed grill was like shoe leather. On the whole not an experience to be repeated.

Nice looking place nice and airy

Yet another good visit, great value as expected from spoons, but also thought a good service really, as we used the app and had our food and drink delivered to the table it was reasonably quick nice and hot. Being a sat evening the place was lively and the younger crowd started to enjoy the sounds, which we also like.

Came a couple of years ago seems to have got a bit tired could do with a makeover I had a orange juice wife had a cup of hot water for a tea because they haven't got much choice at all and they charged us for hot water

I have visited here a few times over a period of a few years. It can be hit & miss. There have been some positive experiences and they have a great beer garden but there have been times when the food hasnt been so great e.g. they ask you how well you'd like your steak cooked and its unlikely to reflect what you ordered or there have been times tthey'verun out of popular dishes even on a theme night. There are worse places though and the wetherspoons app has made it so much better as you dont have to deal with some rowdy punters at the bar (usually during weekend evenings) or long queues

Quite a nice place to kill some time, reasonably priced but oh my goodness they need more staff. Tables were left with debris from the past customers and the tables were very sticky. Served by really nice girl just doing her best

Whetherspoons is the same no matter where you go. Food is pretty good. The carpets need a good scrub as the smell emanating from them isn't great.

Staff to busy chatting when waiting for drink

Went today after a long trip, not only did the food take ages to come out, when it did the chicken was burnt and the supposed gourmet burger, was not gourmet at all, more like a kids burger and the kids pizza was mostly cold. The drinks were nice, but took an age to be delivered, although it was quite busy.

Not the best experience or food. There is work going on so the building was covered in scaffolding. The app was not working and the food wasn't up to standard.
