I asked for our drinks after ordering on the app and waiting for over 30 mins. I was then asked to leave by 4 doormen who tried to intimate me with no avail. Eventually I got a refund which I asked for politely.,but they obviously thought that intimidation was the best resolution. Why I don't know because intimidation by 4 doormen was not appropriate. It did not worry me but if that is your policy to intimate your customers so be it. Yours P Quick

This place offers a cheap pint 🍺 That is all, I'm sad to say Ladies & Gents. The bar manager was stressed and his minion could have done a better job than him - sorry old chap. A good pint was served though, so kudos to the Wetherspoon empire. 'spoons service had gone downhill so much in the past 10-15 years, I'm sad to say, all. A cheap pint? Come here! 👍🏻 A welcoming atmosphere? Sack it off! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Really disgusted at The Union Rooms, Plymouth and their behaviour and attitude. Firstly, they have issues with their cellar, (fair enough, they can't help that, not their fault). So most pumps are out of action. No ciders, at all or lagers/beers (limited) this was yesterday 18th October 2024. Today, I was planning to go there to meet friends, I previously had phoned the pub to ask if the issue had been sorted, I had been told yes it has. I went in. Secondly, I waited about 5 mins to be served, after being told there was a queuing system (no signs or notices anywhere to indicate or inform customers) so was ignored constantly. Thirdly, I eventually start to get served by a nice young gentleman, who then tells me and my friend that they have the same issue as yesterday. I raised the point of issue one, two and three he didn't have a clue what I was on about, so I stormed out. Mr Tim Martin sort your poop out please. Especially in regards to Union Rooms as their customer loyalty severally lacks and the amount of times I've had to complain about the lack of customer service and being ignored at the bar, it's disgusting. Many thanks a Loyal Customer to your business.

I have visited here a few times over a period of a few years. It can be hit & miss. There have been some positive experiences and they have a great beer garden but there have been times when the food hasnt been so great e.g. they ask you how well you'd like your steak cooked and its unlikely to reflect what you ordered or there have been times tthey'verun out of popular dishes even on a theme night. There are worse places though and the wetherspoons app has made it so much better as you dont have to deal with some rowdy punters at the bar (usually during weekend evenings) or long queues

Went to this pub the beginning of July on 2 occasions as was visiting family in Plymouth. First visit, my brothers food was completely wrong. I took the menu to the bar and pointed out exactly what I wanted to order and had almost finished my meal by the time his was brought out. Second visit, I was on my own and the supervisor tried to take away my unfinished pint on two separate occasions. Once when needing the toilet and then when ordering another pint, I had a jacket on the stool where I was sitting and my glasses on the table. The same day, just before leaving I asked an employee, a girl with blond hair, who I'm sure was a supervisor too, directions to the station. Not an unreasonable question you would think as I'm not from the area. She made me feel very uncomfortable and was giving the customer standing next to me a look as if to say "why doesn't he know" The directions she gave me were " go out the doors and walk straight up" It was a fair walk but she could have been a lot clearer and friendlier. Definitely needs Improving on all levels

I think I've previously been spoiled by other wetherspoons because this one really missed the mark for me. The portions were very small, but honestly the part that killed me was I ordered a cocktailed and they poured it out of a can and put the saddest most bedraggled strawberry I'd ever seen on the edge. The server looked so upset my friend dining with me wanted to help them. They appeared to be massively understaffed resulting in the bar team being in constant motion to keep up with the people. Me and my partner frequent The Union Rooms every time we’re in Plymouth for their jugs - my partner is a particular fan of the BubbleGin Jug. However, upon our recent visit we were told they were off out of the Bubble Gin even though we could see it on the shelf behind the worker. We asked instead for Sex on the Beach and told they were out of that as well, even though, again, we could see the ingredients behind the worker. A manager walked past at this point and we asked why we were told we couldn’t have a Bubble Gin jug when it was there and was answered with “well the worker is new so doesn’t know how to make them”. We then asked the manager if she wouldn’t mind making one now she was here and she scoffed and walked away. We’ve never been bowled over by the customer service in this place, the security guards and the manager with all the facial piercings and Mohawk tending to be the only polite ones we encounter. However, to be openly scoffed at and walked away from was a new low.

There are now two eat in coffee and snack shops in this terrace, both doing well but to the extent that at peak times they can be full. That and the pressure on parking places means that you can be stuck and hungry but that’s where Friary kicks in because they do still have a good range pasties etc, sticky buns slices and all the rest. No wonder there is often a queue.

Disgraceful, never again. Been eating and drinking there for years. Took family there for an evening meal. Having spent over £200 pounds, at 9:15 we were told they weren't serving any more drinks, as they were closing and we had to leave. No apology and the member of staff walked away while we were speaking to her. This was entirely unprovoked, we had been quiet and polite all evening. It was purely because it had gone quiet, and most customers had left, not surprising if that's how they treat people.
