Clean, good meal at affordable prices. Very helpful staff and great location. You can have cold or hot meal or even make a special request.

The restaurant was laid out nice , but lacked atmosphere, only two members of the team serving which included the bar server, which resulted in delays of service. I had the buffalo wings for starters for around £9 three large wings which were dry and buffalo source none existence! Wife had cod and chips around £18 very punchy price and I had the double smashed burger which was a single burger for around £16, for what we have had not worth the money. However the staff were very friendly and helpful

Dont let the facade fool you. Completely overpriced to start with. They were out of 3 things on the already short menu, and didnt have the sauce we asked for either. We stood waiting for at least 5 minutes before someone came to find us a seat, only to be told they were “fully booked” and we had to Come back later. Meanwhile Im staring at a nearly empty restaurant. Strange. Once we finally got a table the service was just so slow. Food was bland. Im giving 1 star because Im hoping this place can finally be pushed to do better!

Stayed at the Future Inn, Plymouth, with colleague, and had dinner at the hotel's restaurant (the Fishbone). It was appalling!!! We asked serving staff for their recommendations - they said "Lamb Koftas" - so we both went for that. Ordered at 6:45pm. Food didn't arrive for OVER an hour. And it was really disappointing. The bread was dry and cardboardy. The lamb/lettuce bit was scant. Basically it had taken them an hour to toast a bit of flat bread, sprinkle it with lettuce, yoghurt and pomegranate, and heat up the lamb koftas. We both rejected the bread (It was so tough it was near impossible to cut with a knife) and even the manager even said "I told the kitchen not to use that bread, because it's horrible" - she offered us better bread, but by this time we had nearly finished the lamb/lettuce. The meal wasn't worth the money, and no recompense was offered either. I would avoid this place in future. There's a little Starbucks in the carpark - I wish we'd got a sandwich from that instead!

Stayed in the future inn hotel 4 night break However 1st night me and my family members ate food took a while only a couple of tables in the dining area very over priced for micro meals. However after dinner we decided to sit and relax in the bar before retiring to our rooms...only to be told that they called last orders at 10.30pm on a Friday evening. I asked if there was room service ....only to be told by the bar staff ...only if the night porter can be bothered. The hotel is great . But the bar and restaurant is a badly operated let down.

Ordered salad with broccoli pomegranate and endemane beans of which it had none of these ingredients. Dissapointing. Superfood salad. It did have so.e chicken peas and grains not worth 21 quid.

Same as another person. Here on business, asked if I had a reservation (I’m sleeping at the hotel). Told they might have a table - the place was empty and remained empty. Desperate slow service. Wishing I gone skip diving now.

Food was good. Chicken burger excellent, onions rings were delightful. Annie the waitress very friendly and helpful. It did however take over an hour for the food to be served which in a 'not that busy restaurant' was pretty poor.

Several times whilst on work duties down in Plymouth and staying at the Future Inn I have had the misfortune to experience your dining service and food. I say several times, but I can assure you there eill be no more times after my latest experience at your star rated restaurant! I ordered for a main x2 chicken wing starters along with some chips and explicitly asked if I could possibly have the chicken wings as a main. The reply was yes sir Well, what was served to me was x6 overcooked n dried out wings with hardly any meat on them to eat! The salad that accompanied the so called wings saved the meal along eutb the bowl of chips! When I challenged the restaurant person re the state of the wings and the numbers , wanting to confirm that if I had ordered just a chicken wings starter I would only be served x3 for £9..that's £3 for each pathetic wing I was served I was astounded!! Disappointed and disgusted! How you get your star ratings are beyond my comprehension!! But I will not be dining in your restaurant for evening meals in my future stays at that hotel.

Staying on site in the future Inn hotel, I thought I give the restaurant another go after a poor experience a few years ago. Mistake. It was even worse than last time. Should have guessed from the few people eating there, and even more scarce staff. The staff there were, seemed to spend most time mucking about in the kitchen judging by the noise. Not wanting the usual burger and chips, I decided to try the monkfish curry, after all this place claims (laughably) to be the taste of the West Country. It was dreadful, rice dumped, watery sauce, tasteless fish. No poppadoms , ‘ We’ve run out’. I think the waitress knew it was bad, she saw the look on my face and quickly offered an alternative. Service was very slow, nearly 50 minutes for the curry. Sadly Fishbone has not changed at all from my last poor experience.

Only visited twice. Both times for the afternoon tea. One of which was a Christmas afternoon tea. We had to request a bag so we could take some of it home. As portions sizes were very generous.

I have just had an evening meal at the restaurant as I'm staying at the Future Inn hotel. I had the coconut monkfish curry. It was tasteless, couldn't even taste any coconut and it came with a very greasy poppadom. And for £22.50! It seemed like the restaurant staff weren't really bothered and they didn't even ask me if I enjoyed my meal. Maybe they already know the answer. Avoid at all costs, I will definitely be eating somewhere else tomorrow night. Just hope the breakfast is better.

The staff were lovely, but clearly, the restaurant is very understaffed. This meant service was slow, and food delivery wasn't great. The food was also overpriced for what it was, i assume to maximise on businessmen who stay there. Once seated, we were told 50% of the dishes were unavailable, which mainly covered fish. For a fish focused restaurant, this seems a little ridiculous. Or poor planning at best. The menu is fairly limited as well, which is a shame. Staff wise, they were what made us stay, as they did more than their best. But otherwise, I wouldn't go back.

This was for Christmas lunch, so a special meal and it was advertised as such . This meal was anything but special, considering everything was pre booked the kitchen and staff knew well in advance exactly how many meals needed to be prepared. On arrival there was meant to be champagne and canapés, yes the champagne was on the table and you helped yourself to it with no guidance from staff, but canapés never fronted. Waiting for one hour for the first course to arrive, edible but nothing outstanding. Another hour later the main event (the traditional Christmas turkey meal for our party) the meal was lukewarm and swimming in gravy not at all appetising and quite taste less due to the huge amount of gravy, do wonder what it was hiding! The dessert finally arrived after waiting yet another hour, again edible, but nothing spectacular. Finally tea/coffee and Christmas tarts - yes another hour later. It appeared the kitchen staff had whipped into Sainsbury and purchased a few packets of Christmas tarts on the way to work, they arrived at the table in the delightful silver casing and dumped onto the table, not even popped onto a plate. From arrival to departure it was over 4 hours, some guests had to leave before meals arrived due to work commitments, others cancelling arrangements due to the lengthen of time the meal took. The staff were pleasant, but totally lacked training. This was meant to be a special treat on a special day, turned into something that will be remember for all the wrong reasons.

Absolutely dreadful. Food was appalling. Service was nonexistent. The waitstaff were nice when they appeared. Atmosphere fine. It was an expensive joke how bad it was.

Service so insanely slow. Like 1 starter took nearly 45 mins to come. Main clearly just reheated and had clingfilm in! (Comped tbf). Bar waitress loudly complaining about customers and saying she "can't be arsed".

We came last year and so wanted it to have improved … sadly it hasn’t ! Service was very slow and the food was not worth the price . My ‘Cajun’ burger hadn’t seen any spices and was served with cheap mayo and horrible out of a supermarket tub coleslaw . Not impressed and we won’t eat here again 😕

Asked what drink I wanted then took 20 minutes to turn up had to ask. Dinner eventually turned up and school dinner quality chips. Asked if I wanted any sauce, and it never turned up. I’ve got another 2 nights here. I’m going elsewhere.

The food is very good but they are very slow From ordering to the table. The staff are helpful and friendly, a good atmosphere as well.

We went out for a pre-Christmas family meal as a group of 9. The service started badly when we asked to return a flat glass of coke which was very reluctantly replaced. The rest of the evening was fine apart from the service being incredibly slow. For example the time between being provided with menus for desert and the deserts actually arriving was just over an hour. All in all it took just over three hours to complete three courses. Having said that the food itself was reasonable and the only dish that wasn’t ok was an overly salty teriyaki salmon. The staff would benefit from some customer service training as this ruined what would otherwise have been a pleasant evening.

Always stay and eat here when traveling with work. Staff very nice and the food was good

We had the festive meal for a special family occasion. The meal was good and value for money. Manager Ryan gave excellent customer service. TY.

Food was lovely but very over priced, £18 for fish and chips is absurd, along with £6.50 for a pint of madri. I tried to book for 16:30 and was told it was full, I went at 16:30 to try my luck at 16:30 and the restaurant was empty, and was given a table. After requesting the bill I was left for quite a while and ended up going to the desk to pay.

Excellent food quality friendly staff bangin Sunday carvery 10/10

We didn't book and had 2 friends and 2 kids come join us in the evening for a meal, only to be told that they couldn't accept us as they had a party of 11 coming in and they had a staff shortage. We ended up sitting at the bar and having chips and onion rings, whilst the poor staff were running around stressed. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy for a Thursday half term evening, but given the lack of staff for front of house, bar, waiting and chef, staff managed to cope pretty well. We had a meal the night before and the food quality was good.

The restaurant was short staffed because a large group of travellers were staying at this hotel. They ran out of some dishes although it wasn't late. Main course was generous and tasty. Starter was disappointing - small undressed salad with a few slices of cold duck and a drizzle of hoisin sauce. Had to wait a while before ordering dessert. No waiting staff.

A busy bar with only 1 bar tender on having to serve bar area plus restaurant. Ordered 2 salmon sold out, resorted to gammon steaks which were more like shoe leather. On ordering meal ordered a bottle of wine, this did not appear until after meal was served and we gave a reminder, we still had to wait, Visitors either side of us ordered only to be told sold out. This was a 7.30pm sitting. Only 2 waitresses on, having to serve meals/drinks, serve outside area and collect plates/glasses with no time to wash their hands. Definitely not a recommendation

Situated on the ground floor of the Plymouth Future Inn this a good restaurant. Be prepared some of the meals are ‘American’ portions.Good food and friendly staff

Visited for Sunday carvery, staff were really attentive and couldn’t do enough. The food was lovely, fresh and plenty of it. Sam the chef came around and spoke to everyone which I thought was a nice touch. Will definitely be visiting again.

Another visit to the restaurant another POOR experience This is the 3rd time I have visited this restaurant as it’s connected to the Hotel I stay at on business trips. Every time I visit the service get worse and worse, the staff just ignore you when you arrive, they sit you down and then forget you and then when you call them they then tell you half the menu is not available !! Get some new staff that actually want to be here!

The servers were delightful and so welcoming. The onion rings were to die for. Large portions. Chicken burger was best I've had and friend said her fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce were delicious. Will definitely be back

Carvery: Amazing!!! A family of 8 today the meat was amazing thickly sliced and plentiful we had a choice of pork,beef,or chicken gravy , lovely roast potatoes parsnips swede was fantastic stuffing was fantastic I really enjoyed the good food ,Sam the chef popped out to say hello and check everything was ok and we where enjoying our food would highly recommend giving this place a try on a Sunday makes other carvery’s look insignificant!😊

Lovely carvery. I’m usually not a fan of a carvery but this one was great! As a coeliac I was well looked after and chef was knowledgable about what I could and couldn’t have! I really enjoyed it!

Unfortunately our dining experience was very disappointing. We ordered two sirloin steaks (£25 each) and after 10 minutes we were told that there was no diane sauce so we chose a different sauce. After another 10 minutes we were told that there was only one steak so my husband then chose ribs, after another 10 minutes we were told they had run out of ribs and the sea bass as well. I then chose the spinach, sweet potato and potato curry. When our meals finally arrived the steak was not rare and the curry was just salty and bland and I don’t know where the spinach or potatoes were. It was such a poor meal and certainly not worth the money that we paid.

The starter was very nice especially the soup but the roast seriously let it down the potatoes rock hard the veg was not cooked it was cold and the gravy was cold the only thing good was a pork cracking unfortunately we will not be returning

During our recent stay at The Future Inn we enjoyed two nights of dining, delicious burgers followed by perfectly medium rare steaks the second night, impossible to improve on the level of customer service or the quality of the food. Our waiter Ryan was wonderful and very knowledgeable, even checking on food allergies. Dessert was amazing Lemon Meringue. On a previous visit we enjoyed Sunday lunch, the Roast beef was perfect as well as the rest of the meal. Great selection of beers and wines. Chef Sam is fairly new to the restaurant but what a great chef looking forward to returning.

Have been here twice in the last two weeks with the family for Sunday lunch. The first week l had the roast and it didn't disappoint plenty of it and steaming hot. The second week they had fresh plaice on the menu so thought l would give it a try, cooked to perfection compliments to Sam the new chef and her staff. Go elsewhere. Food was average at best, chicken burger was barely crispy (advertised as such), and had a spice blend that was not standard and not mentioned. Fish and chips was fine. The batter they use for frying is bland as hell, did not taste good especially on the onion rings, no seasoning whatsoever. The service was specifically bad, we got a walk in table but turns out they were turning people away including reserved hotel guests after us due to low staffing despite 7 visible staff members throughout our whole visit (place stunk of bad management). Server seemed uninterested, took 40 minutes for only mains to arrive with no starter. No update at any point. Food came, as above, and the next time we were asked how anything was, was as we were paying the bill, which we had to ask for. This was the first time ever that I have paid a bill while our used leftover plates were still on the table. Think it gets better? No. I'm aware of people who complain without saying anything to the restaurant can be frustrating, but we said our food comments to our waitress when they asked, but again they asked how everything was for the first time as she handed me the card machine to pay to leave and that was that, no apology no nothing. The cherry on top was the glass that broke a few tables over, and rather than staying near the breakage and cleaning it up, one staff member brought out what was needed and when the customer who it happened to offered to clean it up while they "continued serving" she actually let her do it, he gave the broom and bag to her and let the customer clean up broken glass after leaving it unattended for a few minutes, you can smell the workplace accident waiting to happen. Came for the 3 course for £26 we got one course each and didn't dare stay for desert under threat of another 40 minute wait. One course each, 1 soft drink, and 1 side each came to over £40 for sub par quality. Really not worth it, you can actually have better food and service at a weather spoons.

Monday evening, only 5 tables occupied yet was ignored for nearly 5 minutes by 2 staff who were more interested in a laptop than greeting and showing us to our booked table. Staff were borderline rude and clearly untrained. Took our order and returned 20 mins later to tell us one item wasnt available. Food was mediocre. Asked twice for some bbq sauce and got HP brown sauce without comment. Do they know the difference? Placed drinks order from the table which never turned up. Also noticed this restaurant take no notice of less than 5 star reviews.

We came and had afternoon tea Louise could not do enough for us she was lovely. And the afternoon was one of the best I have ever had.would definitely go again

Very slow service and the team were not attentive. Seated@ 7:30PM, ordered straight away. Drinks took 15mins for a bottle of water, starter 30 mins, mains over 30 mins. Ordered MR steak and got well done. Sent back received MR this time. Didn't have puddings because we didn't know how long it will take this time. Will give credit for rectified steak. Foods were just edible. Only used restaurant because we were staying at hotel otherwise we could've gone somewhere. NOT recommend. Hotel was OK but slow WiFi.

Staying at the hotel and had breakfast, lunch and dinner. Good tasty food well presented. A minus was that when I enquired what the soup of the day was, waitress had to go and ask. Obviously poorly briefed at the beginning of her shift. All in all a good dining experience at each meal.

The service was slow, non-existent at times. Although some of the food was delicious, unfortunately, the slabs of cake we were given were vegan friendly, but we're not vegans, nor did we request it! It was the most revolting cake I have ever had.

Had a business meeting in the foyer with a coffee delivered to our table. Relaxed vibe, not noisy. Would try a meal here next time.

Went to this restaurant for a family birthday. The food was nice and wanted to say a special thank you to Sarah for looking after us. She regularly checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable.

We travelled to Plymouth for my brother in laws 65 birthday. Ee have stayed at this hotel previously so knew what to expect. The Fishbone restaurant is light and airy, great staff and lovely well prepared food. I will stay here again.

Had the Texas bbq burger special it was delicious the staff were really accommodating and were really helpful my main waitress was a young girl with a fringe she was friendly, service was quick and the positive atmosphere really added to the experience
