the owners and staff were very friendly and worked really hard to make it a good experience for me and my family i love coming here it’s a lovely pub

We were staying nearby and had dinner here on our first evening. The food was very good and well presented. They were busy but we didn't wait long for our food.

Food was basic but nice staff were lovely.

The best food so relaxing really enjoyed the atmosphere will definitely take the family there

Very lovely service and staff but food wasn't great, very fatty even for a pub meal scale. Had veggie burger and fish and chips.

First of all parking was a pain due to people blocking the car park access. Starter was nice, drink ok. However the sirloin steak was very gristly and fatty, at first I thought it was bits of bone, (was correctly cooked though). Bit disappointing for the price. Tables very sticky like they hadn’t had a decent clean in a while.

This is a nice pub and the staff friendly. Chicken burger was great.

Lovely pub, very nice staff that took very good care of us. Amazing to see gammon steak on Thursday steak night deal. The food was very good and served quite quickly, fresh and tasty!! Two very good meals over two nights that we stayed in a local hotel. If I'm ever around this neck of the woods again, I wouldn't hesitate to come back. Thanks, Unicorn team!!

The food was absolutely amazing the managers were so lovely and hard working. The pub is family friendly and welcome dogs. The food was amazing and presented wonderfully I would recommend to visit.

Great pub on the outskirts of Warwick. Decent food and well priced. Bit far from the town centre but the number 15 bus stops outside. Car parking available next door.

There were four in our party, all ordered prawn cocktail and 8 oz steaks, medium to well done. Told no prawn cocktails as the delivery hadn't turned up. So Went for 4 breaded mushrooms which were hard and very greasy. Girl was very slow and didn't appear to know what she was doing. Our steaks were a little under cooked with one totally inedible. We complained to girls and chefs answer was, 'Sorry. Will not be going there again

Really great place. We attended a baby shower here and the food was lovely we stayed for dinner as well and both myself and my partner enjoyed the food. Staff were friendly and the pub is well priced. Kids area was good and our son played here lots. Pool table was a plus too. Would recommend.

Really family friendly pub, went out of their way to offer to put a movie on in the kids area and provide colouring in materials. Food is of a good standard and reasonably priced. Friendly and quick service.

Hi, this is a message for management, in response to the review by “Penny Lane” below. I realised I recognised this person’s name, she has posted other reviews locally for different places with similar stories, so I’d take it with a BIG pinch of salt if I were you. PS - leaving 5 stars as although not been in for some time, I have always had good service and food whenever I do.

Second visit on a Monday lunch time. Yet again an excellently cooked meal, service and staff friendly, place quiet but steady. Would recommend the gravy should come with all meals 😋 znd the onion rings 🫶 Thank you guys 😊

We had lunch here last Friday have to give a massive shout-out for the staff who were delightful nothing to much trouble shame there was no air con it was a very hot day but managed to find a table outside in the shade had a lovely community feel would definitely go again 😀

Awful. Booked a table 4hours before arriving, however no record of said booking when we arrived, apparently as it was booked too ‘soon’ to the booking time for their system, Interesting. However we were asked to pick a non reserved table. Ordered food, waited and waited and waited and waited……wasn’t even busy when we ordered our food. Other peoples food who ordered after us had their food come out before ours, they even finished and left while we still hadn’t even had ours. We asked what the hold up was, they said they were ‘busy’ and told us ours was ‘next’ out….LIES. The table next to us then had his food come, so we questioned this and were told ours was ‘next’ again, why lie to us? Then we’re told ours really was NEXT. Eating an hour and twenty minutes after we ordered…..is WILD! If you anticipate a delay in food arriving at the tables perhaps give people the heads up?! Maybe your customers had somewhere to be, which we did! Food was ok, but couldn’t even try and enjoy it and had to rush to eat, also had to request cutlery! Come on now!! No one bothered to ask how our food was as well, proof no one actually cares! If you have all the time in the world then this is your place, if not don’t bother. Also no toilet paper in the toilets. Give it a miss.

Love this pub ❤️ Callum, Caitlin and Sally have done so much with this venue considering the last landlord left it in ruin. Food is fab. All drinks are reasonably priced. The customer service and atmosphere is fantastic ❤️❤️❤️❤️ keep up the great work ❤️❤️❤️❤️ outside seating too ❤️❤️🥰🥰 love it 😻

Had the fish chips and mushy peas lovely piece of fish beating any chip shop ,I've brought from lately , And a shout out for the young lady serving behind the bar always very welcoming and friendly!!

The food was excellent, I mean absolutely lovely level excellent. Most of all though I would like to extend my thanks to the very attentive, friendly and helpful bar person (a young lady). She was a delight, always smiling, nothing was too much trouble and she was so nice to my noisy grandson. We're already planning our return even though it's not exactly local to us.

The food and hospitality was beyond excellent. We wanted to go somewhere local for a quick bite and a drink as we're not local and just visited the castle. Staff very friendly and food waa brilliant. Price was reasonable, too! If we're in the area again, we'll likely visit again.

A welcome cool drink on the warmest day of the year so far. At less than 15 quid for a sirloin steak you're not expecting Salt Bae, but it was cooked pretty close to medium rare and tasty. The staff, despite being quite badly outnumbered, were friendly and very helpful and we had a sit down meal for not much more than takeaway prices. No complaints from the Scots-yorkshireman! Of course, no photos of the food. Rude, dude!

We've been coming to the Unicorn since moving to the area back in 2015. Over the past nine or so years, there have been issues here and there, it's changed management a handful of times during this period. So why the 5 stars? Because no pub or restaurant can operate flawlessly 100% of the time, and the vast majority of visits have delivered to a high standard, especially with the current management in charge. There's a respectable selection of drinks, you can tell the pipes are well maintained by their quality of draught beverages (unlike a couple of 'popular' drinking spots in Warwick town *cough*), the food tastes great and menu gives a decent range of options, for children and adults alike. I've found the staff to be friendly, attentive and are willing to go out there way to help and even rectify any potential mistakes, which may happen time to time because they're human beings. You may also stumble upon a rare issue of miscommunication when trying to order at the bar, this can easily be resolved with use of patience and common decency. At times it can be difficult keeping track of who's next, as a former barman (not from here) I can attest to this, don't expect them to be mind-readers, make yourself known and they'll serve you the best they can, simple as that. As for atmosphere, it's a nice quite location, a modicum yet sociable beer garden, one side does capture a lot of sunshine on the more pleasant days. It's always been a relaxed environment, kept clean and definitely serves the local community well. There is a previous review on here that has alleged a form of discriminatory behavior, one reason I felt compelled to write this review. I appreciate they 'felt' this way, but following a much longer tenure as a consumer here, witnessing all walks of life enter the establishment including my own family, neighbours, friends and coworkers, I believe hand on heart the events were completely misinterpreted and twisted through a sense of self insecurity by the claimant. I'll confess there has been a time or two the bar has overlooked me, it's happened in other pubs and restaurants, it's not a pleasant feeling. You know what I did? I didn't make such a strong presumption and stew in my own misery, I made myself apparent to the bar staff, and it was dealt with. Settled, done. I also loved they reference another person similar to them were receiving the same treatment, the tale of two demographics playing out on the same evening, by the same staff. Sorry, that did not happen, you may think it adds a bit more oomph to your complaint, it doesn't. YOU had a bad experience, again that is appreciated, but don't throw the R word around, and make such an egregious and hideous allegation. I know people of the same ethnicity as you who have used and continue to use this pub since the estate was built, I find the stretch to racism both baseless and illogical. It's a decent pub, learn to speak up for yourself at the bar and let's not make racial mountains out of personal mole hills.

I visited with my partner daughter son in law and 4 grandkids . Service was pretty good unfortunately the food not so good. Lasagne was over cooked ,fish fingers were virtually black ,onion rings that over cooked in edible steak was not cooked as asked items missing off the meal . I can say I don't think would be paying another visit any time soon

Been here loads of times but never Friday night for food. It was busy and service was way too slow. Wouldn't come back again if I'd never been before based on that. Food was amazing though and such good value. Staff are really cool. I'm back with you again on Monday for dinner :-) Would highly recommend. Easy going, fun and cheap, great for families.

It has all what your local pub should have

I have been coming to The Unicorn in Warwick for approx 3 months. I come on a Tuesday and the food/service I receive is amazing from the bar lady with the brown hair. Thursdays at The Unicorn, however; I walked in and could not get served by the barman, I waited patiently while he served three people infront of me, which I patiently stared at him and watched him do until another punter advised him I was waiting a while. There is no reason why I should be treated any differently from anybody else in this bar, other than my skin is Asian. This is called a micro aggression and it is a subtle form of racism. Following serving myself he did not say thank you for your order, he apologised to the punter at the bar for his wait while I was still using my bank card. Following this I’ve sat watching an Asian man with long hair, trying to get served at the bar 3 times, and in the end had to get his friend to order for him as he could not get served either. I’ve proceeded to watch this racist barman approach tables of white people and ask if they would like any toner drink and serve them wines, he has asked all tables other than mine. My food hasn’t arrived and I am leaving without saying anything because I don’t deserve to be treated this way. I spend 30 to 40 pounds here twice a week, I won’t be coming again! Regards Penny Lane

When mentioned we were visiting meet with mixed feelings, didn’t have to worry ok it’s part of a chain, but no need to worry staff polite and friendly, varied menu easy to order at the bar and must admit food arrived quicker than expected all depends on how busy they are. Food looked fresh and appetising and tasted great, a good visit and glad we did it. Parking to rear of building.

We were there for our anniversary, had a lovely meal and drinks ,all the staff were really helpful and friendly, food was excellent . Will definitely recommend 👍 😀

Our regular work lunch go to. Its a toss up between here and another pub. The food here is better, they also have a pool table and recently got an xbox which you don't need to pay for to play which is nice. Also recently added a carvery for Wednesdays which was nice (but a more crackly crackling for the pork would be my only criticism!). Alcohol a bit on the pricier side for the ales but overall very good here.

Wonderful service. Food beautiful. I had gammon, hubby had mixed grill. Meat cooked to perfection. The place was packed and the food was still out in good time. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and it was a lovely night. Thanks team! Xx

Food was good, however, this place was not busy 6 pm on a Thursday. The majority of the pub was only drinking pints and we were one of probably 2 people eating. We ordered and we did not receive our food till after 40 minutes. It took much too long for basic food. It's a shame because the food was good. I had the spicy burger and it was cooked nice. The fries were good and the burger sauce for dipping was nice too.

Apart from a little cold inside , the place very clean , all staff very welcoming and smiling 😃 plus all very helpful.

We came for an evening meal,as we hadn’t been here for a long time. My husband had the mixed grill and I had the cheese and onion pie. Within 6 hours my husband vomited,had the sweats and diarrhoea. By the next day he was going to the toilet every hour,and was extremely poorly. He was admitted to hospital and put in a high risk infection ward. He was on a drip for 6 days. He had his poo sent to the microbiology department at UHCW. It came back positive for campylobacter-caused by food poisoning. He was extremely poorly. He is immune compromised already. It caused his heart to beat out of rhythm, needing further testing. It also affected the potassium in his kidneys and body needing ongoing tests. We have an official letter confirming the results and will be reporting to environmental health.

It’s very basic pub food, but we had great service and the food was delicious and well cooked and a fraction of what we would spend at other well know chains. Also a place our 5 year old son could chill out and play. Very family friendly and a good place for a easy weekend family few hours x

After a revisit, the food was spot on, Kallum the Manager was superb along with his team, Kallum has now restored my faith and will definitely be visiting again.

Came for Mother’s Day and it was appalling. By the time I got to the carvery there was no food left. Offered a free drink but didn’t accept. Went to McDonald’s on the way home. Won’t be back.

Very good food but one problem was it was mother's day and a table 9 as Nd ran out of beef and chicken for carvery very disappointed but food was hot but looking forward to carvery but some of us had burgers instead expensive for what we had will not go again shame as food was hot sorry

There wasnt enough fish for us to both have fish and chips and it was only 1pm, then we waited quite sometime for our food (pub wasn't overly busy) we chose this pub because it supposedly had children's play area (hardly anything was working) what was working cost money.

Good atmosphere lovely food the wine was good too..

Booked a Sunday lunchtime table for six people at short notice to celebrate a birthday and enjoy the carvery. A lovely welcome from the team on arrival and a beautiful pint of Guinness promptly ordered along with other drinks, pub was busy but thankfully no wait at the bar and our table was ready. The Carvery is really exceptional value and the meat was especially succulent this visit (I had beef and turkey), my kids have fallen for both their mash and also the cauliflower cheese too - two things they wouldn't touch at home! The roast potatoes were beautifully crispy and the red cabbage and sprouts made it feel like a little bit of Christmas. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

I was celebrating my 40th birthday with my son. We had a first class service from the moment we walked in the door. We chose our own table. Food was delivered promptly. The choices were superb and what we ordered was so tasty. We will be returning for sure. Felt very welcome and looked after. Thank you

The food seemed much better before, on this occasion, the food was dreadful, the Donner kebab was dry, over cooked, greasy and the amount of meat was next to nothing - must be the worlds smallest portion ever!!!! the baguette was hard and more like a mini baguette, the banoffee pie desert was small and had no flavor of banana what so ever. If you want to waste your monies then feel free to go, I will NOT be going again until I hear the food has improved. The table behind me also thought exactly the same thing.

Staff were lovely and polite, food is outstanding. We will be back soon.

From start to Finnish Great staff,very tasty Hot Food

The carvery was excellent, 3 meats, excellent choice of vegetables. Nice and hot, my Son had the Gammon, Egg and chips which he enjoyed, good value for money

Went today for a carvery, was the most disgusting Sunday lunch I’ve ever eaten. Every thing looked like it had been sat out all day, no yorkshires or stuffing, no pigs in blankets after ordering as extras. I couldn’t eat it.

What a great find, we had a lunchtime meal (12.30pm) from the menu, and it was a reasonable price we sat on table 24 (booth) food was delivered quickly and well presented, it was hot and very tasty we left clean plates, staff were attentive and friendly, glad we reserved as the restaurant soon filled up, we will definitely be coming back

Stop off on the way home from watching football, good food, staff very friendly, definitely stop again if up this way again

We booked the festive meal for 3 adults and 2 children. The food was very good, the service was a bit slow but that was due to staff shortages. We were in no rush so it didn't bother us.

Understaffed, service awful (had to find someone to ask for a kids menu and then again to ask for cutlery), table was sticky, carvery was a sight for sorry eyes, many tables were left uncleared the whole time we were there. Food was poor quality and took forever to come. Avoid

I been amazed by this pub . Me my wife and 2 children went to vosot Warwick castle . After visit we went to this pub and it was surprisingly great food and very kids friendly pub . There are kids play area , kids movie and toys we're available. Food was very reasonably priced and great taste . Absolutely recommend this pub and I will visit this place agagin

Came for carvery… Reserved a table. Advised me never if staff on arrival but told, just wait at the bar. Waited…and waited. Got seated, sadly there was none left.(carvery) so Ordered off main menu. Food average at best. Would not return

Sadly our experience here was of a poor one, our reserved a table was kinda given. Food was ordered and took 40 minutes to arrive when it did arrive it was wrong I personally ordered mixed grill and asked for steak to be rare it came out like a builders boot way over cooked, I was also missing the fryed egg so it went back to kitchen thankfully come back as I asked Barr still missing the fryed egg, nearly 15 minutes into eating my dinner it finally arrived sadly to late I’d almost finished. We won’t be returning here and I don’t recommend it.
