Popped into the Unicorn to watch the Aston Villa v Leeds match. I was warmly greeted by Tommy who said yes showing the game take your pick of screens. The music streamed sounded great just right for when you finished work on a friday. Lauren just served the perfect Stowford Press cider in a sparkling clean glass clearly enjoying her work and the music. Great place I will be back for sure.

Four locals independently pushed in front of us at the bar, without a single 'are you waiting'. The bar staff saw but seemingly didn't care, and then blanked us when it was finally our delayed time to be served. A local pub for local people - AVOID!!

Being in a prime position in Malvern, I would have expected a much better service and experience. We were visiting Malvern so wanted to have a drink locally, as soon as we walked in the place just smelt dirty, like a horrible smell of old furniture and dirty clothes! The bar lady was very uncooperative and challenged everything we said, the glasses were dirty and it was generally a very depressing and unwelcoming place, I would avoid at all costs.

12 of us visited (plus dog) to have coffees and drinks after a wet walk in the Malverns. We were greeted by a landlady who didn't want to have to walk upstairs to make coffee, had no hot chocolate so she said and was generally rude and unwelcoming. It transpired from the landlord they did have hot chocolate although the landlady thought they didn't have enough milk! One couple left as we entered leaving drinks undrunk; a second couple walked past us and recommended we not stay. We didn't need telling twice! If a business in the current climate doesn't want the £50 we were willing to spend on a soggy Monday afternoon then more fool them! A little politeness would have meant we chose soft or alcoholic drinks.

This isn't the first time I have been to The Unicorn. We first visited last year and I must say the pub was spotless and well kept. The two landlords were so lovely! But recently when we have visited I am met with disappointment and a very dirty place to drink. They'd be shut down if they ever served food. I remember the last time I went I was greeted by a lovely young barmaid and young bartender who was helpful with our drinks and very respectful to us! To my disgust I have seen the landlord speak to customers like they are an issue and shout at them when I don't understand what they have done wrong except for trying to enjoy there night. He does not know how to run a pub! I think it'd be a better place to drink and more welcoming if he up and left. It puts the history of this establishment to shame when you have someone like him behind the bar let alone running it. He looked clueless on our basic drinks and it was embarrassing to watch. What I can only assume was his wife was incredibly rude to some customers that was stood at the bar. I come from a very well known pub in Gloucester that I used to run and I know how a pub should be ran and well this place is a poor excuse of one if I am honest.

Having lived in Malvern most of my life and grown up in the Unicorn 40 something years ago it is truly disappointing to visit what should be an asset to the town to find it such a filthy unpleasant place to get a drink. I am truly embarrassed for visitors who come to Malvern and have the misfortune to step inside this place. The toilets are a complete disgrace , i shouldnt think they've been cleand since i walked out of the door all those years ago, with urine over the floor its bound to stink to high heaven. Regular cleaning would help the cause Mr landlord. The whole place could do with a complete refurbishment to be honest but a regular cleaning programne would vastly imorove the overall appearance of the place. In all fairness I blame the major landlord groups who have forced the decent hardworking tenants out with poor pay and conditions...if you're gojng to pay peanuts, you're going get monkeys ,and talking of food, if it's served i personally wouldn't go anywhere near it. This pub is in a prime location and as such deserves more than this dive.. !!

I called in for a pint and was served one of the shortest measures I have ever seen. I asked the barman/manager to top it up to be met with a point blank refusal. Apparently his practice was to serve beer with an "inch" of froth as "that's how I do my stock-take." His inch of froth was a generous inch and even then the top of the head did not reach the rim of the glass. His attitude appeared to be that he had my money so there was little I could do.

6 of us spent Easter weekend in a rental property in Malvern. On our first afternoon I popped into this pub to ask if they were a dog friendly pub which they are. Apparently the pub has had several changes of hands before the current landlord took over some 7 months ago. We heard he had barred a number of people and basically turned the pub around in a positive way. Our experience confirmed this. The welcome we received was absolutely first class. From the landlord, Ian, the guy who loaded the free juke box with some cracking tunes to Nick and Lofty who did the snacks and a whole host of great regulars. This is a sports bar so be warned there are several tv’s dotted about showing live sport. Which we like although may not be to everyone’s taste. A great pint of beer, at a really reasonable price, real fire, warm and comfortable. Great job Ian - see you again in the near future. Nick, I will return to eat, honest, and soon.

This pub is not only very attractive from the outside but has a wonderful local history and is superbly placed in Malvern, which are some of the reasons why we have visited it in the past. Unfortunately our last visit was indeed just that, our last visit. Having recently changed ownership we noticed on entering last week that a dreadful and unsympathetic internal "makeover" had occurred to the building. The choice of beer was dire but luckily because our soon to be 21 year old Daughter didn't have her passport with her we had to leave. In fact the barman, who to his credit was sympathetic and following orders, recommended the Foley Arms where we had no problem. How a beautiful and historic building like the "Unicorn" can receive such treatment from corporate owners is very very sad. Please try and sort yourselves out or let someone better equipped do it.

We haven't visited the Unicorn Inn for a few years and had been told that it was under new management and had been updated and redecorated. We visited on a Saturday night and were met with blaring music and dark lighting with no sign, where we could see, of any refurbishment. The bar prices were overly expensive for this kind of establishment and its run down decor. It is a shame as the Unicorn has a historic past and doesn't reflect that in its design, the management doesn't seem to know who they want to cater for.The piles of furniture stacked in the "lounge" area add little to the ambience. Bar staff were without character and seemed to be going through the motions. I won't return, though I don't think the owners would be bothered.

One of the most welcoming pubs I have ever been too. The staff were all extremely polite and very accommodating. The place itself was lovely and I honestly could not have asked for more! Thank you again for your hospitality

Female pub manager is rude, aggressive & also likes to shout homophobic comments at customers! I wouldn't advise my worst enemy to enter the doors of this disgusting dive!

We went into this pub on Friday the 19th of August after a beautiful meal at the Red Lion with our 17 week old Pug as it states on a board outside its a Dog friendly pub.Me and my partner made friends with three other guys that were all ready sitting at a table having a drink,we had never met them before.we had just one sip each of our vodka and coke and the female manager was wiping down the bar area on the customer side of the bar and in a very loud voice she said can you keep our puppy Pug on a short lead as her son is allergic to Pugs! We actually thought she was playing a joke as saying her son is allergic to a Pug her son at home also it's a Dog friendly pub that she works in! I said to the manager you are joking she then said could we take our drinks outside.it was after midnight and chilly and said we are not leaving our table until we had finished our drinks, she came close to us and screamed in my face and said if you don't go outside we would be bared from the pub.she walked near to our puppy and kicked it with her foot and made a homophobic comment which I won't repeat on here and then five local guys stood up and forced us out of the pub,one of the guys got very close up to my partner face so I then called the police, within five minutes they arrived and asked us to walk home as they would deal with our awful experience. In 53 years I have never experienced anything like this and will be taken legal action for animal cruelty and verbal and homophobic abuse luckily we have three witnesses that walked us home safely.

I would like to thank the friendly caring bar staff for all there hard work & excellent customer service. Also the owner for being incredibly polite. Again as some people have mentioned they deal with quite a bit of bad behavior but remain professional to a limit. I do not blame them for the actions they take & sometimes this means removing people. Shame but it happens. I would also like to add the cleanliness of the place, Most defiantly over the moon with how thorougher the staff are down to every detail. Whilst on my visit, The staff pulled all the glasses from the sheves cleaned them & the shelves, Also made sure everything was decent for handover! THATS TEAM WORK. Loved having myself a boogie & the bar tenders wernt to bad there selves. Had some great company and everyone made me feel welcome. With every up there is a down & unfortunately people are quick enough to point out the bad but not quite so keen on parsing the up. So UNICORN'S Keep doing what your doing because your doing it so well.. SEE YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

This place is a fantastic gastronomic secret waiting to be discovered. Popped in, soaking wet, after doing the 5 mile Abberley Circuit. From the outside it just looks like your average village pub, but inside the first thing you notice is that it must have only been (tastefully) refurbished recently. Nice clean lines, using plenty of wood while still retaining traditional village pub features, such as its tables and chairs. A burning fire provided additional cheer. A snack was all we were after and, fortuitously, from the sandwich menu I chose The Beefy. The generous beef was to die for, cooked quite rare with a crispy exterior, sliced into chunks to fit, overlappingly, into toasted bread (probably sourdough). A fried egg on top, cooked to runniness, with a circular hole cut into the upper toasted slice to reveal the yolk. Accompanied by a delicate slaw and some fine skin-on fires. It was ecstasy. In addition, the service was charming. Alas I live 120 miles away so won't be going back even though I'd like dine there properly - several times.
