Clean wonderful staff couldn’t do enough for us food was hot well presented And tasty the two girls that were running lunch time were polite and very helpful need to hang on to them speedy service will be returning

Being local, I have been here a few times in the past but haven't been for a while because it could be variable in food and service. It's now under new management so we tried it again, and we're pleasantly surprised. The food was lovely and the service excellent. Add to that affordability and you have a place that is well worth a visit. I used to be a bit wary of recommending it but I would happily do so now.

Absolutely pitiful. Unfortunately after been a go to local for years, this pub has just gone down hill more and more. From sticky/dirty tables to unclean toilets that I can attest to, have had no change in the past 10 years. I would stay well clear. We had an issue with a 30% off voucher on mains, instead of trying to resolve any issues (with might I add regular customers & tippers) the current land lady became instantly defensive and borderline aggressive. It resulted in being shouted at and belittled infront of other customers before getting barked at to leave her pub (Also I must add I tried my upmost to come to an agreement with her, under no circumstances was I refusing to pay) There's constant confrontations between customers & staff, on a whole not a pleasant atmosphere, unfortunately now loosing some very loyal customers, although I am aware we are not the only ones. I might also add that you will see a trend in (Chelsea's) the landlady's response to any negative comments/reviews as she more than likely will with this one. It's almost as if she's forgotten that she's in a hospitality/customer service role and shows alot that no criticism can be taken on her part. And to be clear please see the photos attached in regards to the voucher, as she proceed to try and tell me that they are not a Marston pub and this is not there website. who knew 🤷‍♂️

Food was delicious and the staff were just so friendly and helpful. Jo served us and she was just fabulous and kind. My little granddaughter was following her around the pub! I have mobility issues and another member of staff, a very kind male, helped me to get to the car. Can not thank them enough and will certainly be going again very soon

As we walked to the door, it seemed as though someone had started to do some gardening and got fed up, bush clippings left lying around, not a pretty sight could be a trip hazard. Went in and first thing I noticed was the dining area where we had sat previously was now a drinking area, ok. We're told we could sit where we wanted, so found a table for two in the dog friendly area, ok we were the only two in this particular area at the time. Table looked like it had seen better days, varnish definitely worn off but was not tacky to the touch, always a positive. Our drinks order was taken and arrived and we ordered our meal. One sausage and mash, very tasty and hot, one lasagne was warned dish was hot well it's a pity the food wasn't it was luke warm also the top was very insipid looking as it obviously hadn't seen the inside of a grill to at least make it look appetising. This was returned to the kitchen by my sister, no staff available, and my sister knocked on the door. The food came back out, been put under the grill at least it now looked appetising, however this exchange wasn't gracious so we left. Even on our leaving the "manager"? still had something to say and we have now been barred.

Nice atmosphere. Jo and Ben were very friendly and attentive and put us at ease immediately. Great food at reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again.

This is a local restaurant for me and my family which we have frequented on a number of occasions. Yesterday at 7.30pm after along busy day we called for food. To be told there had been a supplier issue so no food available. No sign outside no apology. The excuse was not believable as on a prior occasion this happened the chef had walked out. So we found out later. They cannot keep staff and managers come and go quicker than food is served. Something very wrong here and the local community seem at risk of losing this commodity. Very sad . Another family walked in after us and had booked a table for the evening and had not had the courtesy of phone call. Marston’s need to get this place sorted.

We visited the Crown as a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children and had a wonderful experience. The setting is cozy and the menu offers great value for money. We were unsure on what to order, but the staff knowledge helped us to decide and when the meals arrived they were well presented, generous portions and tasty too. The staff were friendly and attentive and paid extra attention to the children, making sure everyone felt welcome. I would definitely recommend the Crown and we will be visiting again soon, next time we will bring our dog, as it's very rare to see a dog for friendly pub, so this was a big bonus! Well done team!

Went for a meal to celebrate my daughters birthday. Made the mistake of not booking a table on a quiet Wednesday. Were told they couldn't accept any more food orders. We usually visit once a week we won't be rushing back.

We were greeted by Molly who was shift leader for evening and she delivered exemplary service. On top of that the food was great.

We went for a meal last night which mine was quite good, but my husbands meal very poor fish and chips there was about 10 chips on his plate not enough for a man. The meals have gone up in price but getting less for your money. It was also absolutely freezing in their I had to out my coat back on, even my husband said how cold he was, so wasn’t pleasant. Go there a lot but will have to re- think as last nights meal weren’t up to standard

Have not been for a while, but thought we’d pop in for a bite to eat. I must say The new manager is so polite friendly and welcoming, as well as the two other ladies on shift, nothing but smiles. The service was brilliant, food nice, hot and served in a very ideal time. The pub was busy when we came but the team just seemed so organised and nothing seemed to be a problem with any of the requests we could here being asked. Planning on bringing the family in the new year for a get together ☺️

Possibly the worst food I have ever been served anywhere When four days ago I was requested to pre order my meals little did I expect that it would be plated up at that time That is certainly the impression I had Soggy overcooked sprouts and broccoli mashed potato powder complete with dry bits, turkey which had died of old age been overcooked and was totally bland dry and very chewy One of our party had soup starter, having finished it took up to 45 minutes to get the main course and that had to be asked for Not one courtesy visit , not one offer of further drinks Table sticky with old beer tastefully decorated with a second had curled up tartan runner, three cheap and nasty crackers and three chocolate sweets of dubious origin

We really enjoyed lunch at the Crown, friendly staff, great service and tasty food. I recommend the rump steak, mixed grill and scampi. A very attractive pub, reasonable prices.

Came here for Sunday lunch which was good. The person i was with was very happy with it. Hospitality was very good and friendly, however my soup was not worth the money. I had less than half a bowl and the bread I had was obviously yesterday's heated up and reheated, causing it to be rock hard and I mean rock hard all the way through. It was ashame because the rest of the visit was OK.

Absolutely appalling. Arrived and had to ask them to wipe the table because they were all dirty. Only ourselves and one other table (of two) but waited an hour for our food! When food arrived I found a large piece of metal in my food. Thank goodness it wasn’t a meal that had been served to a child, this could have been very dangerous! Hardly an apology. Avoid!

Attended as a family of 4. Food was good however a bit of a lack of fresh ingredients which would be good to see to support local farmers. Would 100% return as a large variety of food for all appetites.

I’m confused by all the really positive reviews. We stopped by at 2pm on Sunday for lunch and the visit left us really unhappy. The restaurant was almost empty and there were plenty of staff, so I can’t excuse the below. We ordered 1 roast dinner and 1 vegetarian roast dinner. From the selection of beef, turkey and chicken, only turkey was available. From the 3 vegetarian options, only the pie was available. This wasn’t an issue but we were only told once we had been seated and left to read the menus. I ordered a large roast and my partner asked for extra stuffing as large isn’t an option on vegetarian options. My large roast included 1 extra stuffing ball. My partner also had 1 extra stuffing ball. There was no extra pig in blanket and no extra Yorkshire as in the menu. The turkey was dry and crispy, the vegetables mushy and grey and the yorkshires were rock solid. On top of this, a glass of Malbec costs £8.80 and arrived in filthy glasses. There were lipstick stains and finger marks on all glasses we were served drinks in. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, but the overall experience was really poor. I’m hoping this was a one-off but given the prices charged and the very tiny portions, quality and cleanliness, we are unlikely to return.

The Crown is absolutely amazing!! Popped in for some tea with a couple of friends last week, we ended up staying quite some time as the service was great and the drinks were amazing as well as the food. We will definitely be returning very soon.

The roast beef dinner was awful, I sent it back and refused to pay. Probably was processed frozen junk and heated in a microwave. Worst food I have ever seen in a pub.

Visited for the first time in a while, then it had a great reputation but it must be under new management because this time we were far from impressed. Meals were expensive then we realised there was a two for one offer(so lift it up to take it off) my granddaughter ordered milk to drink but they said they had none.....really??
