This place is awful my friend has been throwing up because the chips were raw not cooked properly this is the second time this has happened ABSOLUTELY DESCUSTING

THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE,!! CHIPS TASTED LIKE CRAP AND THE FISH WAS HORRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY HERE. DIRTY PLACE.

I visited this shop on a Friday evening and decided to eat in. I was somewhat surprised that I was the only one there as the place looked alright. I have to say the fish and chips were edible but I’ve had better and what concerned me that it was run by a bunch of ‘kids’ that were bothered only in playing loud incomprehensible music and lagging and joking loudly. I saw four adult customers refused service as they were closing at 8.30pm. I can’t see this shop surviving and I was told there se better chippies nearby!

Very late lunch with family on a visit to Bude enroute to our airbnb stay. Can't understand the negative reviews. The two girls were pleasant, and our fish was freshly cooked and served with a decent portion of chips to go with it. Seating provided and an added bonus was that we were allowed in with the dog.

Absolutely terrible fish and chips compleat waste of money. 3 teenage staff doing nothing whilst dirty and empty vinegar and salt pots sit on the tables. A more suitable name would be the pits.

Using the word 'Ultimate' in your business name is always brave .... and brave it is! Popped in for a quick take away... we were the only people in the queue and duly ordered a pretty easy order. 2 x fish, 1 x chips, battered sausage, portion of chicken nuggets plus some mushy peas! Sat there for 36 minutes whilst about 7 other people came in, ordered and then collected and went.... another few people were turned away as they were overwhelmed with the volume of orders!! We got the order - minus the peas! Popped back to get them ... gave up. The staff member serving was concerned they were hard ... the other staff member needed to add water, but did not arrive to do so - wet/hard peas did not appeal so I left. We got home to find the nuggets were actually scampi!!! The food we had was pretty good .... I think whoever owns Ultimate (I am assuming it was not the two people abandoned to run it without much of an idea on the Friday evening we went in) really needs to learn about running a business, ordering, efficiency and customer service. A real shame as it could be great. It lets Bude down...... all a bit embarrassing really!

Absolutely disgusting, every order we ordered was wrong. Wasn't until we come from the shop we noticed. All we ordered was 3 kids sausage and chips and one large cheese chips. No cheese on chips and every sausage had batter on. Chips were absolutely horrible really greasy and seemed not cooked. Will not be returning.

Fish & chips on the beach is a bit of a family tradition. Portion sizes were huge & food was lovely. Writing this review so I remember next year where we went!

We visited for the first time today. 2 x adults and 5 children. Even though it was lunch time we managed to get a table, to eat inside. Lovely friendly staff. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and generous portions. Would definitely visit again!

The food used to be absolutely delicious but unfortunately since changing owners the fish doesn’t taste as good it is also much too Greasy the Chips are not Cooked.

While ordering a takeaway today one of the young ladies cooking had a incident with oil poping in her eye, the other two young ladies left working were both under 18 and no management seemed to be present during the incident

Gone Downhill - Awful Chips, overcooked and lots of black bits. Lots were inedible. Didn’t buy fish so can’t comment on that

Ordered gluten free fish and chips and normal fish and chips. When order came after 20mins NOT gluten free, this could have made my wife very ill. They did then do some steamed fish to replace. Chips also very poor half of them not edible. Avoid this chip shop!!

Very disappointed to day as was one of the best chip shop in town was very let down to day when got chippy tea Chips where very discussing Curry sauce was nice and battered sausage got hardly and batter on

Our first time here. We decided on takeaway. First impressions not great, a group of employees being very loud and messing about out the back. On ordering we queried the total price as it did not tally with the prices on the board above the counter. We were told by the counter assistant that prices had gone up as summer prices were now being charged but no one had time to change the prices on the board. Surely this is illegal re trading standards !!!!!! The food was ok. The chips, the mushy peas were ok. The cod seemed to be quite a good size but was actually very little cod and nearly all batter. I do not think we will be returning and if I have the time I might be contacting trading standards re the prices

Great chips, run by some great lads. Had a good chat with them and both friendly and personable. All considered they are the best in Bude by a considerable margin. Also the first chips that weren’t cooked to within an inch of their life! Fair portion size too which seems to be lacking these days Many thanks

Called in about 3 pm, having not been in the restaurant for some time it was great to see it freshly painted and refurbished.The owners were very friendly and the food was excellant.The prices were very reasonable and wish them all the best for the future Will definitely be back

As far as fish & chips go...this has to be one of the best places I've visited. The food was incredible. I got spoilt too, with some calamari, scampi, a lovely peice of cod and some incredible curry and tartar sauce.

Tried the Hoki. Fabulous. Chips were great. Only complaint, too much to eat. Lol Recommend a visit. Excellent.

Visiting for the week and we had cod and chips and their home made tartare sauce. Very friendly and quick service, despite being right at the end of the night. Extremely tasty and good quality!

Several of us had take away here last weekend, we were on holiday, we were able to order ahead of time and collect. The meals were ready very quickly , the meals were large, tasted delicious and were well priced. I would definitely recommend this company.

Would have rated higher as the food we got was actually good quality and decent portion size , unfortunately missing a piece of fish !

We went to this fish and chip place last Saturday just after 7.30pm had just got through the door only to be told that they are closed.Unbelievable.

The chips are great. The best part for us was we were able to sit inside with our dog, not many food places allow dogs. The dog got treated to a complimentary sausage and water bowl. They couldn’t have done enough. You seem to be able to reserve a table which could be a good idea as it was quite busy. Staff were friendly. Would visit here again next time we’re in the area. Weather was a bit rainy when we visited so to have a place we could sit inside which allowed dogs was fabulous.

Food was absolutely delicious. Was so fresh and piping hot. A huge queue on a Tuesday evening which says it all. Will definitely be back.

Very slow service, lady running the front desk was to busy talking to her friends. Mixed up orders. When she finally gave me my order she just smiled and didn’t even say thanks for your wait. Boxes half filled with chips and cold.

Best chippy in Bude! Delicious food and super helpful staff. Catered for our nut allergies, no problem. Highly recommended. P.s. the homemade Tartare Sauce is beautiful 🐟

This was a great find. Quirky place. You can sit in too which is great in this country! The service was really personal. Very friendly and came out from behind the counter to hand you the order. Great touch! We had large fish & chips and the portions were massive. Excellent chips!!!! We also ordered the tartar sauce which we felt needed a few more gherkins & capers but was still delicious. Will definitely visit again when in Bude.

Nice little chippy, friendly staff we ordered medium cod and chips 2 x batteries sausage and chips with a couple of curry sauce. Chips where the let down, another 5mins in the fryer defiantly needed, everything else was spot on

Good location , friendly staff , tasty chips. Unfortunately medium fish is rather small and half of the size it is coating. We will not back.
