Nice food millionaire prices not value for money prices , we will visit again drinks only

70th birthday celebrations.. drinks took a long time... rushed to table... pre ordered food for 11 of us and it came out wrong and not all at the same time.. the bill was wrong, we got charged for the wrong meals that came out... then was asked to leave the table because another group was booked in after us. Small portions of food for the maximum they can charge.. I am sorry but food pubs are everywhere and you will only stay in business if you are good at it..

Very disappointing, this used to be my go to place for a nice, but not too expensive, meal, but not tonight, the pork belly was dry, hard and frankly on the turn, I was surprised the chef served it, to the point I even enquired if the head chef was in, as clearly it hadn’t been checked before it went out, the sauce had no depth or flavour at all, it used to be deep and rich and sticky and divine, genuinely gutted, I miss this place, they used to care about what they served and go above and beyond, this looked fancy, had all the promise, but had not been cooked with love at all, it had no flavour except for the chilli jam, which was lovely, but not what I paid thirty quid for. The restaurant was empty, I was literally the only one there, now I know why.

A fantastic visit to this lovely stylish pub / restaurant with rooms. Close to Telford hospital. I booked a room very last minute, arrived to a welcome reception. The team were brilliant they couldn’t do enough for me to make my visit go well. I had an evening meal and breakfast both were generous portions and delicious. The room was clean and comfortable with everything I needed. I would happily return to stay again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

A rare Friday night out for us. The food was excellent and Charlotte who served us all night was an absolute gem. She is so polite, attentive and wonderfully charming. It’s a shame her colleagues on the bar chose to use such vulgar language when we arrived and sat at the bar having a drink, but we’ll let it slide as we had a great time apart from that. 👌

We came for my mum's birthday meal, there was a big table of us, we had 3 course meals and the food came quickly and was absolutely delicious, the apple and cherry crumble is a must! Our server was Katie and she was absolutely brilliant, so polite and efficient, she always made sure we had what we needed, will definitely all be visiting again soon. Went today for my sisters birthday meal was very disappointed fish was burnt half the stuff has been taking of the menu staff behind the poor was on tik tok wen I was stood at the bar waiting to be served.When I went in august was lovely not sure what’s changed very disappointed

This was an amazing meal, beautiful setting and we left extremely full. A sensational garlic chicken roast finished with sticky toffee pudding and amazing chocolate brownie. Our server Lacey was amazing and offered suggestions when one of the puddings we wanted was not available. This made the whole night special.

We came here for christmas celebrations as our middle ground reunion and it didn't disappoint! Lacey served us and was just a delighted *even managed to get my friends Yorkshire pudding to land on my plate as she is GF.* We all had full roast dinners and the Beef was perfect. Also recommend the cookie dough for pudding!

The staff were busy but not very welcoming, the bar didn't have any brandy at all, ( my usual drink) the parfait was like moose and watery and the main course was too dry -had to ask for more gravy. The crumble was lovely but waited too long for it. All round, it was expensive and not very impressive. Will not be recommending the place

We had a starter and roast .. two courses for £24.. absolutely delicious and big portions. Our server Lacey was fab. No long waits and the order was spot on. Belly pork bites were amazing.

Had a really enjoyable evening here last night and our waitress, Harmony, looked after us very well. I would definitely recommend the Pork Belly which had been cooked to perfection and will be going back soon for more!!

An excellent evening in wonderful company complimented by a warm and pleasant greeting and outstanding service by the extremely diligent Harmony. The Manager Julie followed Harmony’s lead and visited us to also attend to our needs which made a pleasant change to other dinner experiences. The food was delicious, very well portioned and well presented. The atmosphere lively and enjoyable and the restaurant and facilities immaculate. Will definitely arrange to return very soon.

We went for our 40th wedding anniversary meal yesterday juile the manager was so lovely she went, above and beyond in looking after us makeing our anniversary meal so special.julie gave us that wow factor on our anniversary meal .we left very happy 😊 Thank you so much Julie xx

Such a lovely place, came for dinner and a catch up with the girls. We all commented on how it was beautifully put together, nice atmosphere, friendly welcoming and attentive staff, Delicious food and fairly priced for the portion and quality. Will 100% be back again with girls, and the parter, and the parents and any one else I can drag along for more excuses to go back more often! Highly recommend!

We used to be regular customers here and after my last experience I will never be going back. We ordered starters and then waited for our main order to be taken. We tried flagging the waitress down numerous times, but she kept looking away as soon as I made eye contact. We gave up for a while as she was in and out of the kitchen with food. When we finally did get her attention ten minutes later we were told the kitchen was closed, which I wasn’t really fussed about because I was rather full from the starter anyway, however my other half was not. I asked what time the kitchen had closed as we were trying to get her attention for a while. And the attitude that I got back was disgusting. She snapped at me and told me that I ‘could have gotten her attention at any time’. Clearly I couldn’t have. And ‘oh is that all you did, just wave your arm’. I told her that there was ‘no need to be rude to me’. To which she scoffed at me and walked off. Like I said we’ve been regulars here for years and the staff have always been so pleasant and helpful. But this new person is a disgrace! She knows who she is and should be ashamed of her attitude towards customers. I have spoken to friends who have had similar experiences with this person so I’m not alone. Such a shame they hire people like this now.

We went today for a Sunday dinner without a booking and they were super accommodating and were quick to find us a table. Lacey our waitress was absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to help keep our three year old entertained. The food was absolutely delicious and was quick to come out! Well one hundred percent be coming back! Thank you for a fantastic meal!

I went for the food not to stay and I was quite happy.

We went on a Saturday night after several enjoyable visits in the past. What had gone wrong at this place? Soulless atmosphere, place almost empty, lazy service and very poor food. We asked for a bottle of water for the table which was brought without glasses, asked for some and the waitress got 4 dirty glasses off the next tables and said that’s all they had! My friend went to the bar himself to get 6 fresh glasses with ice, wasn’t that difficult! Food generally poor all round, seems very pretentious now and either tasteless or overcooked. Very expensive for food that is lower standard than hungry horse.

Was considering booking our anniversary meal here, so decided to pop in for a look. A fairly large car park, and as a blue badge holder discovered that the one blue badge space they have obviously begrudgingly allocated is probably just about large enough for a disability scooter. Quite ironic as only accessible via a car. Won’t bother again!

Not sure what has happened with the UG, has it had new owners? We booked a table last night and when we arrived it was empty, soulless and no atmosphere whatsoever. Not the usual buzzy vibe as we expected on aa Saturday. The service was not great from to finish and probably the worst food we've ever had here. Don't think we'll be back here. Not worth the money in a taxi. What a shame.

We had gone for brunch few days back. It's lovely restaurant and has been decorated well for Christmas. The staff was very friendly and warm. We ordered Full English breakfast and Chicken and Waffle with Maple syrup. Quantity is pretty big, we were struggling to finish it. Quality of food was very good and cooked well. We also had apple juice and Flat white which was also good 👍. Overall we spent around 15 pounds per person. It's good restaurant to go to for a meal with friends and family, we had pre booked in advance, they have good seating areas as well , but I guess it gets busy later in day and have quite spacious parking as well. Addendum 2024 ☺️ I came here again for lunch and again' food top notch. We had fish and chips- which was massive and good quantity. Loved ambience.

Went for a Sunday Roast in the restaurant after Toby's were fully booked, the food was delicious and a decent sized portion Had the brownie for pudding and it was really tasty too

We've only just checked in and I'm already thrilled. Even from the outside, the building looks well-maintained and attractive. Everything inside is very pretty and tastefully decorated. People like to stay here. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, everything is very pleasant. The room is nicely decorated and everything is super clean. Also the bathroom, with shower-bathtub, opening window. Everything is just great!

Had a brilliant brunch here. Our bartender/server (I think he was European but didn't catch his name) was brilliant throughout and really made our brunch. The drinks were made to a fantastic standard and the service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious, as well as the decor and location of the pub. Will definitely be returning for another brunch.

We came here for a family meal. The location is amazing but that’s where it ends with the positives unfortunately. Sadly after eating here I have been very ill and frustratingly I noticed the pink chicken too late. Besides the food poising, the actual food was… dear I say… bland but salty. Bar service was good but table service lacked knowledge and professionalism. We weren’t asked about allergies (partner cannot eat fish or shellfish) so it was a roulette whether he would be ok. If the front of staff worked better with the kitchen staff it would have been seamless. Great style but totally lacks substance.

I find this a real shame to have to do as i love the food here, we go regularly, however for the last 2 months i have been trying to hire the place for my daughters 18th birthday party as its so pretty. Unfortunately its like getting blood from a stone, called numerous times and told its all ok but to confirm via email and Julie would get back to me, no response, sent another and again no response, my eldest daughter tried to be told she would get a call back and yet again no response. Such a shame but clearly dont need the business so we will take it elsewhere from now on. I will add that the young girls and lads are always very helpful, just seems the management arent as good UPDATE_ In response to your reply, I called after your last email, and you confirmed that i could book without food aslong as it was a minimum of £800 bar spend, which i said was fine, i was then told to send over by email to get confirmation with this so i could book, I did this and didn't get a response, I then called another time but you were at a wedding and I was told you would respond when you are back, still nothing, my daughter then called and asked to speak to you but she was told you were busy and would call her back, again no response

Food here is amazing, not a bad price either, friendly and polite staff.

Had a lovely lunch here yesterday for my daughter's birthday celebrations. The food was really good, staff went out of their way to help and nothing was too much trouble for them.

4 of us stayed in Telford and the venue recommended the ugly duckling. The drinks were great but unfortunately this is as good as it got. Padron peppers - awful just normal peppers grilled , no flavour. Bread selection - a loaf of bread would have been better. Just oil no balsamic and some packets of butter, menu describes it so much better. 6 tapas starters between us - just the pate that was edible. Duck, beef tacos, squid, sticky pork all terrible. Some cold and all just lacking in any flavour. Mains- 2 fillet steaks, worst fillets ever, like pulled beef from the taco. Chips meh, peppercorn sauce lumpy. Steak pie - again just very similar to the pulled beef tacos just with gravy, the best of a bad bunch. Pork chop - like it was deep fried , couldn’t even cut it properly, dreadful. Would have loved desserts but after spending nearly £250 on this extremely dissatisfying dinner we left without dessert. We would have complained but one member of the group wasn’t feeling well and I couldn’t be bothered with the argument over the bill & definitely didn’t want anymore food to be offered in return. I would avoid this place and have let our venue know not to recommend anymore.

Not one to review usually, but chose the ugly duckling for a special occasion. Chose the rack of lamb, but essentially it was 3 lamb cutlets... absolutely beautiful meat, but certainly not a rack of lamb....shame! My wife chose oyster mushrooms to start, these were over salted or too heavy on the soy! Otherwise, the fish and chips were spot on 👍, gratin was banging and the staff were even better. What a little treasure this place is.. beautiful well kept outdoor seating area with huge fire pit & lovely lights & a few egg chairs just to add... the pub/restaurant area is very warm & welcoming with lovely staff who aim to please, nothing is to much trouble. We stayed here overnight, the room was adequately sized & aesthetically pleasing with kettle & Tea/coffee/milk & a range of different teas & coffee choices, fan in the room was much needed as it did get very warm in there even though it wasn't a particularly hot day, bathroom with shower cubicle, hand & bath towels also provided again adequately sized. Food for our evening meal was beautiful, huge portions & reasonably priced as was the breakfast in the morning, all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would definitely recommend, I'm sure we will return ♡

This is a tough one to review because the venue is lovely and my meal was nice, but my meal was the ONLY option for a vegan. But at least it was mushroom tagliatelle and not 5 bean chilli! There was no dessert option - although they rolled out some vicious lemon sorbet. I say vicious because it was so sharp my mouth was sore, and overall it wasn’t good. My son who is a meat eater found a tiny fly in his gravy, which they swapped out with no questions asked. If you’re able to eat whatever you like from the menu then this place is pretty good, but if you’re a vegan there’s really no point making a second visit.

Back to one of our favourite local places for a Friday evening dinner lately with our daughters. After a couple of hiccups of late - they are back on track with good food, presentation & better service. There is always a good selection of drinks & the place is popular whenever we visit. Food choices were good & tasty. We like the idea of sharing small plates as starters & followed by mains. Another recent visit & a nice change of menu with some excellent choices such as pimientos padron

My wife and I called in for tea, the food went hand in hand with the whole venue as both were stunning, lovely atmosphere and excellent quality food. We will be returning.

Lovely meal tonight - I had Wagyu Beef and ale pie and it was one of the best pies I’ve ever had ! My 2 daughters had the small plates - good variety and generous portions and cocktails were great. Will definitely be back - only awarded 4 stars as could have done with more staff , waitress was really lovely but looked like she was on her own

A group of us came here for my friends birthday in April. Overall, the food and cocktails were lovely. I ordered a chicken and blue cheese salad for my main. For my dessert, I had the chocolate mousse. The food was very tasty. The only thing that let it down slightly was that we had to ask numerous times for the bill to pay.

Fantastic breakfast with quality ingredients. We have been numerous times and It never disappoints. We have also been for Sunday lunch a few times now, again, we have never been let down. Cosy and comfortable pub with friendly and helpful staff.

Great welcome from friendly staff. Lovely modern room and great shower. The room was a bit warm at night even with the windows open. Otherwise, it would have been 5 stars for the room. Breakfasts were excellent, and evening meal was superb. Bar and restaurant staff were very efficient. The outdoor area is tastfuly done. We will definitely be back.

Two ladies with disabilities,at the bar we ordered 2 coffees,the girl behind the bar was trying to show a young man how to make it,the pub was nearly empty,about 11.30,I asked could we sit at one of tables where the chairs were hirer,no you can't she said,they all reserved for lunch,there are chairs by the fire,they very low once in I had a job to get off it,she had no manners,£4 each for a cup of watery coffee,she could have least given us 2 better chairs,I totally understand that she did not want the tables messed up,it certainly was not disability friendly,she had the manners of a gutter rat,we had travelled a long way,we were beyond disgusted and disappointed

As a young couple, don’t often go out for food so this was a special occasion. I have worked in hospitality for many years when younger so was trying to be understanding, however, in this instance I just couldn’t. It took 45 minutes to even get a drinks order. I asked if we could get our food taken as we had been waiting so long and worried it would take even longer than waiting for drinks. Our food came before our drinks. When I mentioned we were still waiting on drinks, there was no apology and was blunt saying they would get them now. They forgot to bring one of our sides and when asking for sauces and some water (was so thirsty). They did not return with any sauces, sides or water. The fish and chips was watery and no flavour and our burger was very basic. Was not checked mid meal so could not inform them and was so hungry at this point and working all day between us, we just ate it. Took awhile to get cleared and even longer to get bill. Don’t think I’ll be returning!

Absolutely fab brunch midweek birthday treat.....2 American breakfasts.. 1 pancakes and bacon (needed more bacon but thats personal taste) and one eggs benedict (my brunch really lovely however could have done with a touch more hollandaise again personal preference) Service was quick and the young lady who served us was lovely ...definitely would recommend but make sure you book...they fill those tables fast...xx

What a lovely Sunday lunch we had here! The place is beautiful, and the staff are lovely. Maddie was our waitress and she was really helpful and let me add extras to my dinner, and swap some things on our little girls meal… the food - simply amazing! The veg and side dishes for the roast were incredible, and the Yorkshire puddings were very impressive! There was lots of gravy, giving you an extra jug without needing to ask. Cannot recommend enough for a lovey Sunday lunch! Thank you!

We went to The Ugly Duckling for our Golden wedding anniversary as we stayed there on our wedding night 50 years previous. The service we got was absolutely brilliant and the food was top notch, cooked exactly as requested. The staff were lovely people and would highly recommend this place.

Very disappointed on Mother’s Day. Eaten here before and been lovely. The meal we had this time was poor. Scallops rubbery, beef very chewy and fatty, roast potatoes undercooked. One of the children had a burger which was not tasty at all. Had one glass of one at one price, upon querying £24 for 2 further wines of which should have been the same but wasn’t, it appears we had those expensive wines chosen for us without asking first and horrified at the price. Will not be eating here again

Absolutely loved our stay at the Ugly Duckling!!! Sunday lunch was spot on with lots of good veg and plenty of gravy. Our room (Obvertly Olive) was really comfortable and clean. There was everything you needed and the bonus of a jacuzzi bath which I took full advantage off whilst my husband slept. Breakfast was 10 out 10 with lots of delicious cooked breakfast options to choose from. My hubby had the full English whilst I had the smashed avocado, feta and poached eggs on sour dough! Every element of both our breakfasts was cooked perfectly. We’ll definitely return!

4 adults and a 3 year old went for a late lunch. Only one other diners there, so very quiet. Escorted to table, given menus, drinks orders taken and arrived promptly. Menu is not large but it is comprehensive and has some interesting small plates. All our dishes were very good, i had the beefburger which wqs enormous, beautifully cooked and presented=delicious. Service was good and professional. All our food was enjoyed.

Came here for brunch and brody did an amazing job on f making sure everyone was looked after. His charm and personality was on the money and he couldn’t have been more attentive and professional if he tried. Will be back for you brody lad!!!!
