Eley's Of Ironbridge Pie Shop in Telford and Wrekin

This was a very nice place to sit and have breakfast before taking a walk around iron bridge. The breakfast was good, but I would recommend getting in early, as it gets a bit busy.

We love this place! Its our favourite cafe in Ironbridge. The staff are super welcoming and friendly. The table service is efficient. The food is delicious! We had the BLT and it was one of the best I've tasted. Really fresh lettuce & tomato, flavoursome bacon and yummy mayo. Best coffee also! Their Flat White's are perfection! Very reasonably priced cafe also. Can definitely recommend!

Went in today and location is perfect across the road and in view of the lovely Ironbridge. Looking at the menu we chose to have paninis with milkshakes, honestly what was served was nothing short of daylight robbery. The milkshakes well, see picture was milk with powder milkshake formula and priced at £4 is absolutely horrific, we questioned this and was told it’s flavored mixture and not a proper milkshake… this should be detailed in the menu! The panini came with salad, small coleslaw and about 4 tortilla nacho chips all to grand told of £26… the panini was just bread which looked to have been microwaved with cheese and two small tomato pieces. Honestly I’ve been to so many places (check my other reviews) this was nothing short of absolute rip off and poor standard of food. The milkshak (by name) was swapped for small 330ml bottle of coke at same price £4. 01/05/25 - poor response, we raised it immediately with staff. The menu did not state you do two milkshake varieties so we ordered what was present on menu. The picture of so called panini shows it was just bread microwaved with cheese slice in. Proof is in the pictures posted, check with your staff it was raised initially to female member of staff who called a male member of staff over who came over and said all milkshakes were made with syrup, I beg to differ from taste but that’s mine and wife’s opinion. It was powder form taste mixed with milk, you can either own up or continue telling a lie.

What an amazing chilli pork pie! Fab lunch after cycling from Hereford on our way to Middlewitch doing Lands End to John O’Groats. Pasty was crisp, and buttery, pork and jelly super tasty.

We have been going to Eley's for years, love it, it's always our first port of call when we visit the area. It was regrettable on our last visit having travelled 5 hours to get there, excited as usual to eat there, and having spent 35 pounds on pies and pasties and drinks, that the older woman tutted and had an attitude when I asked if our dog could have some tap water! She said "and how do you expect me to give it to you?" I said "in a paper cup?" she said: "we charge for the cups!" She tutted again and looked away as she gave me the cup. This is a great example of how one miserable employee can tarnish the guest experience in an amazing place with a great reputation. She will not deter us thats for sure, we look forward to going again, and we'll remember to take our own water! Just ridiculous. ps. the other staff are all great.

Superior Breakfast and the service was excellent

"Darby's 1779 of Ironbridge" Stopped by for a coffee and a slice of cake. The coffee was strong and hot and the carrot cake was tasty. It was a warm day, so we sat outside and enjoyed watching the world go by. A lovely spot, thank you!

Good menu choices, nice food. Plenty of people coming and going. Atmosphere was pleasant - not such a buzz that we couldn't hear each other. Just took a little while to pay; staff were busy dispensing beverages!

Purchased a pork pie for my husband it was horrible. The pastry was dry and the meat was all fat. Keep away the worst pork pie he has ever had.

This is an excellent spot to eat. Prompt and friendly service. First class ingredients which produce a very tasty breakfast/food. A wonderful view of the bridge itself as you eat. We were passing through and would thoroughly recommend to anyone in the area.

Came with dog after website daying dog friendly. NOT DOG FRIENDLY AND PERSON NOT VERY HELPFUL. CORRECT YOUR WEBSITE. WASTED JOURNEY!

Honestly this place is lovely, the views are beautiful the staff are warm and chatty but the food was the best part! I had a prawn cocktail baguette which was fresh home made buttered bread, delicious prawns and the coleslaw on the side was amazing. Everything is homemade which Ioved you can definitely taste it. I want to come back and try the cream tea!

Clean, friendly, spacious café, with a nice view of the bridge. The coffee and tea were fine; the cakes were ok but on the sweet side for me. Unfortunately the room was way too hot and airless when we visited.

Update 10/02/2025. Still our go to when starting our Shropshire holiday. Bridge builder breakfast keeps you going all day, fabulous latte too. Lovely staff, reasonably priced considering the location and a great view of the bridge. Does get busy at peak times but worth a little wait. Definitely recommend it. Thanks to everyone there.

Absolutely gem of a place to eat lovely food and everything was freshly cooked also a good hot chocolate the staff are friendly and attentive so would recommend to anyone who wants to eat and drink and have a view of the Ironbridge at the same time .

Came here a few times during our week in Brockton, daily walks with the dog would take us to Ironbridge. Coffee outside in the sun, great location, wonderful spot, very friendly staff. On our last day had breakfast, no dogs inside but a very cute spot outside with heater, perfect. Great breakfast, amazing omelette and husband raved about the black pudding and again friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Was busy but food came out wrong . Long wait. Staff seem to reley on 1 pad with orders on it and no correct information given to chef. Had to stand at till 10min just to pay. Very disorganised. Won't be back.

Absolutely lovely warm welcome on a cold November lunchtime. Great service from Malvina and the food was delicious. Highly recommend.

Stopped in today for something light to eat and a hot drink. Had tea which came in a lovely pot with plenty of milk in a jug and a good variety of sugars on the table. There were plenty of options for vegetarians had we wanted a full meal, which is always a bonus. We opted for Cheese scones with red onion chutney. They came out hot and fluffy, with butter and a pot of chutney. The entire thing was perfect and so tasty. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the whole atmosphere of the place was relaxed and cosy. Add to this a view over the water and of the Ironbridge, which was lovely even on a rainy day. Would highly recommend the tea rooms to everyone. Thanks for a lovely experience 😊

We came in for drinks and the staff were very friendly. But absolutely disgusted at the ‘manager’ a man, who shouted at the staff while we’re were sitting there, i have NEVER felt so uncomfortable, his behaviour was horrible and we will not be going again!!! You should be ashamed of yourself. I will make a FORMAL complaint about today’s ‘incident’.

Found just over the road from the iron bridge. We stopped in here for coffee and the staff were lovely and helpful. Sadly the menu had no appealing veggie dishes this we moved elsewhere to eat. All in all a nice place to pop by.

Popped in for Breakfast after looking for somewhere online and wasn't disappointed. Everything was good, service, quality of food and the price.

Bit disappointed. Ordered apple and blackberry flapjack crumble. Received apple crumble. All the waiter could say was sorry.

Reserving judgement here, but lived 5 mins away for 16 years and only bought pork pies from here. Moved a couple of years ago, came back today, bought a pie and definitely did not taste the same. Tasted a bit lardy, less peppery taste... Hopefully a bad batch but please Eley's, tell me nothing has changed! (Ironbridge Pastie still amazing though!)

Easily the best port pie I’ve ever eaten. You’ll never enjoy a supermarket pie again without comparing it to this! Bought a bag of pork searching as well to share with my dog and they too were AMAZING. And a beautiful view of the bridge thrown in for free. A walkers paradise

Lovely place in a great location with a view of the bridge. Very friendly welcome & service. The bridge builder's breakfast was excellent quality and value for money as was the scrambled eggs & smoked salmon. I definitely recommend giving Darby's a visit.

Only had coffee and tea cake but loved the view and impressed by the friendly staff and top notch service.

Billed as " World Famous", I'd frankly never heard of them before, but as I was in Ironbridge, how could I not try one ? The first "Surprise" was the price. At almost £5 for what was described as a medium sized pie, I think I might have described it as small. But the this is about flavour at the end of the day and for something billed as world famous, I was expecting something special. That was my second disappointment. The flavour, texture of the pastry and seasoning was OK but wasn't the stand out I was hoping for. ( By contrast, my benchmark pies are the one sold by The Pork Pie Shop in The Shambles, York and The Pie Shop, Fladbury, both of which for me are ust perfect, with exactly the right amount of white pepper seasoning ) So, an average sort of pie, perfectly palatable, but very expensive and no standout flavour which would make me go back for more.

We had lunch here and sat out the front in the pavement area. A little noisy from passing traffic but lovely nevertheless. The food was tasty and arrived in good time. The staff were friendly and happy to discuss small changes to the menu for our vegetarian options. Would happily return in future.

Lovely coffees but that’s where it ended. Arrived and sat at a dirty table full of plates etc which is fine but when it takes the staff 20 minutes to clear them then that’s not acceptable. Pouched eggs rock hard, poor quality ingredients used & toast was more like stale bread. Maybe if they did check backs once food was being eaten then they would care to know the issues. Lovely location.

Since moving to the area nearly two years ago, we have been regular visitors to Darby's. Absolutely love the food and the atmosphere. Service is second to none

I came here with my mum this afternoon and it was lovely. I could not fault it at all. The scones were warm and delicious; the drinks were perfect, despite accidentally ordering two teas when I should have ordered one coffee. However, this was sorted without any issue despite it being my error. The staff member was very lovely. My mum and I really enjoyed it here and will definitely be back. Highly recommend coming here!

Popped in twice for a morning coffee during a dog walk. First day ok as not with dogs second day visited with dogs a very hot morning. I asked for a bowl of water for dogs as i was sitting outside but was told no! I had to walk to another shop get a bowl of water! Slightly disappointed as spent a fair bit of time spending money on coffee! Oh and the milkshakes we had afterwards were warm and tasteless! Not sure can recommend highly!!!! Sad as heard a lot of positive reviews re Darby’s! If you want to encourage walkers its not hard to put a bowl of water out! NB we bought our water initially but as we spent so long here we ran out hence us asking for a bit more

Looks like a lovely place to eat and staff are very friendly but £2.85 for a cup of tea that you basically have to make yourself is joke. Could understand if it was a fancy branded teabag but it wasn't. Very expensive

Came in for breakfast. Great service, good breakfast menu. Was advised before ordering if a delay on food as they'd had a rush, which we had no issues with. Just disappointed that thr menu said 'vegetarian options available' under the breakfast, so ordered a veggie breakfast. Instead of bacon and sausages, the replacement was 2 small potato fritter type things and an extra egg. Asked about any veggie sausages and "they don't do them."

We Scots like a scone cold. They warmed it up without asking and then advised warming was necessary!

Popped in for coffee and bite to eat while visiting Ironbridge. Staff are terrific and made us very welcome. Definitely recommend the soup and bread option. Plenty of other offerings so should be something to meet most tastes.

What a lovely tea room. I arrived late Sunday afternoon - not long before they were due to close The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Amazing service and welcoming staff.

Stopped for a "quick" drink but the service was sooooo slow. Spent 20mins waiting for a tea and a coffee. Ok it was lunch time but there was only one guy behind the counter doing everything.

Lovely food 3 stars for service but I suspect this was due to how busy it was at the time. Staff were lovely. Loved the Old music.

My husband had cream tea and highly recommends the scones, light and fluffy. The toasted teacake was the best I have tasted in a very long time. Abbie was very helpful along with her colleague. Will visit again.

I was in Ironbridge and had seen the shop before so I decided to try one of the 'World Famous Pork Pies'. I was shocked at the prices, over £5 for a large pork pie that I didn't think was that large, but decided to buy one thinking the taste would make the outlay worth it. I couldn't have been more wrong, it was one of the worst pork pies I have ever tasted. For me the pastry was rock hard and far too thick on the base and round the side. The meat was too salty and spicy for my liking. I was left very disappointed and could not recommend the pork pie. On the positive side the lady serving in the shop was very pleasant and made you feel welcome.

Some staff very ignorant. Although food very good but the service is poor. Immigrants are not welcome there. That’s unpleasant. Shame.

A gem in Ironbridge. Darbys is a great café, with probably the best full cooked breakfast I’ve ever eaten. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We will return if we are ever in the area. Highly recommended.

Perfect view of Ironbridge and the best Cappuccino I'd had all weekend, friendly professional staff and a nice layout inside.

Great to find a place that actually stays open past 4.00pm. A simple, unpretentious cafe, a bit lacking in atmosphere but with good views of the actual iron bridge if you can get a window seat. Cake was a touch dry but tasty, tea was good. And don't miss the toilet - some wonderful photos and humour!

We popped in for some food. We were given menus & told to pick a table & that the waiter would come take our order. We chose our food & waited. The waiter took a little while to come but was pleasant. We chose cream tea each at £5.95 & has the menu stated that cream tea with Prosecco was £6.90, I thought why not. However, when paying our bill it came to over £18 we questioned the cost, only to be told that the £6.90 was extra not with. I would never have had the Prosecco if it had been worded correctly on the menu. The menu should say EXTRA not WITH as the £6.90 is extra to the £5.95. Very misleading & we won't be visiting again. Very disappointed

A lovely little tea room opposite the historic Iron Bridge and gorge. Very quick service and the food was very good and they do all day breakfast. Limited parking however some car parks nearby The Square car park being by the nearest but gets full quick, the Iron bridge car park which is across the bridge but plenty of space and the museum car park about 5-10 minute walk.

I went to Ironbridge and decided to stop for coffee. Parking is always an issue, but I was lucky enough to find a space outside the square. This is a really nice cafe with great food and coffee selection. The trainee served me and did an excellent job. They do excellent breakfast and delicious cake

Fantastic selection of food, hot chocolate amazing.

My husband called in for a pork pie to have in the evening, but then we noticed the cheese and onion pasties! He had his pie that evening, I had the pasty. We were going to Ironbridge the next day anyway, so we both bought pasties for the evening this time. As people who lived in Cornwall for many years, these were the best pasties from outside the county we have ever tasted! Well done Mr Eley!

We had a lovely lunch here. The service was friendly and food tasty. It was nice and warm on a cold day, with a nice atmosphere. A lovely view of the Ironbridge too!

Very nice, quick and friendly service

Although my pasty had a pleasant taste the filling was mainly potato with very little meat, and was overpriced. It is possible to buy pasties which are larger, have more meat in them and are cheaper, in a town not very far away!

I speak as I find and tell the truth... Bought a hot sausage roll - delicious. Medium pork pie - what a disappointment. Meat looked very dark in places (if you saw the meat in a shop, you wouldn't buy it) and the pastry was rock hard. No flavour whatsoever. Also the food is well over priced!!!!!! Shame but won't go again.

Visited today for a coffee and a slice of carrot cake - both superb! Wonderful outdoor seating with a view of the Iron Bridge as well.

We purchased a normal pork pie, chilli pork pie and 2 sausage rolls. All were delicious and very filling. My partner wishes he had brought more chilli pork pies on our visit!

Visited this morning as a birthday treat. First class full English breakfast for hubby and perfectly cooked poached eggs on toast for me. Pot of tea very hot and good quality. Good value for money and very pleasant service. Will be back!

I travel the local area sampling coffee shops and cafe's. This looked a good choice so I paid a visit. A nice tidy cafe overlooking the Ironbridge. I was met by a young lady who didn't seem too enthusiastic to help. I ordered a sausage and bacon sandwich and a black coffee which according to the chalk board was good strong coffee. I went to pay but the business won't accept card payments below £10. Arn't there rules about that ? Luckily I had cash and received £1.35 change. I asked for sweetener in my coffee when I paid. I was then told to wait outside like a naughty school boy when there was room in the cafe. After a fair wait outside in the cold another lady bought my order. First impression looking at the sandwich in its wrapping, was how small it was compared to the competition nearby. Sausage and bacon were tasty but the bread was dimensionally tiny and thin. I didn't consider it a decent sized sandwich. Then my coffee that was not strong and had no sweetener or sugar present. Too late to go back . In summary, disappointing and expensive. This represents a true personal experience.

we visited ironbridge on the way from telford shopping.got there for dinner and noticed elleys looked lovly the food couldn't be more wrong .we went in orderd 2 pastys to take home and bag of scratchings . got home omg hardly any scratching s a nd my wife heated the pastys never again thick salty pastry a d like baby food inside with the odd carrot and a bland taste once bitten i think mind the pun save ya money folks
