Myself and wife went here for Sunday carvery it was £15 each and we was disappointed with the quality and the service, we paid for our meals via the on line system and the waitress bought us our drinks and our tickets to take up to the carvery counter, while we was waiting we noticed the chef who was cutting the meat was sweating profusely and wiping brow with his arm, when I got to the counter I asked him for beef and pork and he cut them about 3 inches thick! Far too thick to cut with a regular knife easily, and the pork had so much white fat around it, the yorkshires were disgustingly awful, the road potatoes were very hard and tasted stale, the squares of stuffing were very nice tho as was the buttered carrots and the cabbage, unfortunately the Swede was a bit tasteless and we had to scrape the gravy barrel to try to get some gravy out!! Overall a disappointment to be honest, even the table we was on was wobbly, also to point out as well it was very very warm in there. Unfortunately we won’t be returning, we might of just been unlucky because the pub was busy and is in a loverly location, so it might of just been a bad day.

Friendly staff and very welcoming. Unfortunately, we found there was too much butter, too much garlic, and too much cream, which tainted the taste of the food.

Had a brilliant lunch experience at the Tywarnhayle Inn on Saturday. Started with a lovely walk on the beach and pop in to Tywarnhayle Inn to grab a spot of lunch and quench our thirst and we were not disappointed. The staff were extremely polite, welcoming and helpful and the food and beverages were excellent and really great value for money. We will definitely be returning to try the Sunday Lunch and the other meals on the menu.

We can't fault the carvery but the manager was rude and unwelcoming. We popped in at 11.30 asking to book a table but told you couldn't do that.when we arrived at 15.30 it was very busy and at least six tables were booked out to Sarah Wood for 6pm.When I questioned this he couldn't give an answer. I understand loyality to the locals but just be honest.

My wife and I stopped at Tywarnhayle inn for a light lunch and refreshments. For the money we paid I was surprised at what we got. I had the cheese and apple pickle baguette with chips and salad with pint of Korev. My wife had the honey roast ham baguette with chips and side salad with pot of tea. Both meals were tasty and filling. Staff was very friendly and curtiouse. I would recommend this pub to anyone and if we are in the area again we will certainly pop in for food and refreshments

Great location, and a clean tidy place with a pleasant ambience. However, let down by the food. I ordered fish and chips, and a dry, almost dessicated fish with very thick breadcrumbs (not batter) served with mediocre thin fries left me disappointed. A long way from the fish-and-chips pub grub I had anticipated.

Came here 2 days ago, I had the fish and chips and my wife had the pie, my chips were basically skinny fries with skin on and the fish was over cooked, the pie had nice pieces of meat in but the pastry was pretty much inedible due to it being almost burnt black, had the staff bothered to clear our plates away we would have expressed our disappointment but that didn't happen, won't be going back.

We visited this pub on a Wednesday evening (wasn’t that busy). We had to wait 1hr 10 for our food - we chased it with the waiter and he kept fobbing us off telling us ‘we’ll bring it out when it’s done alright’. When it finally arrived the food was dry and bland. Will definitely not recommend. Such a poor experience which cost us £42 for 2x mains and 2x drinks!

Thanks for the reply owner but you weren't rammed,we watched how little came out the kitchen the time we sat there finishing our drinks, one lot of food in nearly half hour(I know how a kitchen works),so I'm guessing lack of staff or other was the problem not peak season.we haven't had to wait anywhere as near as long here for food anywhere else this week.👍🏻

You have to take it for what it is. What I will say is the portions are large. And the burger was an absolute surprise; the patty was from the butchers over the road. Taste was lovely. Although, bacon was dry and not crisp. And it required building yourself; they put all the salad for the burger on the side. Staff were excellent, absolutely down to earth and chatty. The burger was very tasty but required building yourself, skip the bacon.

The quality of the food was really nice. Had a few issues, Table booked for 6.30pm , apparently 200 people had a roast. Beef, Gammon, Turkey, what was on offer was beef and chicken. Instead of suggesting the carvery was low, we ordered, nothing was made aware the carvery was low, sign on on the way up was advertising Beef, Gammon, Turkey, unfortunately they just had beef and chicken to replace the turkey, the stuffing was burnt, dried up and been there a long time, chef said he could not do anything and offered me an extra few slices of beef. He said they could not take too much meat out, as this will cause wastage and the business will go under, specials for the day after, chef said specials was already planned. Lady bar staff said carvery stops at 7pm, but on website and big sign by main door clearly states to 8pm ? , 7.10 pm still serving carvery. Very disappointed. The chef should of beem in contact with staff to say low on meats. As it's a bit expensive, there's no offer of some money back, just a free pint pf coke.

Champagne and canopies on arrival, followed by a 4 course meal, the lamb was the biggest piece I have ever had and was so tasty. Shame they don't do bar tabs but no big deal. Also the app to order the food wasn't on so had to go to the bar to order. Again no big deal. The meal. The fish was top notch. Crispy skin and lovely and hot. The chips were really fried but still tasty. I would have liked mushy peas instead of garden peas and the tartare sauce seemed to be mayo and pickle. A bit tasteless. But all in all I enjoyed it. Going to come back soon to try their nachos.

Arrived on Saturday for the start of our week in Perranporth. Now I've been visiting for several years now and been here before (last meal was there Sunday carvery and that was bloody awesome) so the reason we chose to eat here and also dog friendly. I had the steak the wife had the burger. The chap behind the bar either needs to start smiling or find a job he likes because he wasn't very friendly. Food arrived and was very disappointed. Most sides were cold except the mushrooms they were red hot. Steak seemed like a very cheap cut, and the wife's burger was overcooked (dogs seemed to enjoy it though) certainly not worth the money. And not busy, so that can't be an excuse. Sorry, but we've avoided this all week now.

Food was really good, everyone on our table got different dishes and they were all lovely, reasonably priced as well. Only complaint would be that to use the disabled toilet you have to leave the pub and go around the building and it is in a shed in the beer garden, and when I say shed I mean a wooden garden shed. They obviously have to have disabled facilities, but it wasn't very fun having to help my family member around there in the rain between courses. Just an inconvenience to consider for anyone visiting who needs disabled facilities.

Not massively impressed, my partner ordered additional items to his meal (which cost extra) which he didn’t receive, my meal unfortunately came out mostly cold so I ate half of it and left the remaining. For 2 meals and 2 drinks which came to over £50 I was very unsatisfied. I don’t like to complain as the staff may have been up against it and the fact it was raining may possibly have meant they waited to bring the food out which meant that’s why it was a bit cold? The staff themselves were lovely so couldn’t fault them but sadly we hoped for better and to receive what had been paid for.

We enjoyed ourselves so much that we rebooked for the monday Quiz Night. When we came back, we had the nachos each, as well as the garlic mushrooms to share. We called in for a family carvery meal, the food was good (remember that) but the experience could have been better. I was given a regular plate for my large carvery (they claimed they explained this to me at the time, but I didn't hear/understand). When others in my party returned with larger plates, I went and asked what the difference between a large and a regular carvery was and I was told, by the server, it was just the size of the plate; nothing about getting more meat or anything. So I left with the impression that the amount of meat was the same between regular and large, and this created the feeling of having paid more than I needed to to get the same amount of food. I also thought £11 for a childs carvery was a bit too much. Will not be visiting ever again and neither I nor the owners will care.

What we experienced was one of the best roasts we have had anywhere. Also, all the staff, from servery to bar staff, and especially the managers, (Tjin and Carys) were so professional. We could see that they were really busy but managing things effortlessly, and really looking after the visitors. 10 out of 10 for everything!

I'm not sure if it's allowed to have crushes on breakfast staff, but if so, then the guy who served us this morning has officially won my heart! Seriously, though, he was incredibly kind and professional. If there are any awards for exceptional service, he deserves one!

The golden lion pub in St. Ives, Cornwall is a big golden lie. The only semi accurate portion of their image is the lion. All of the food tasted as if it was found inside the rotting, months-old carcass of a poached lion. The onion rings were wet and pustular, they tasted as if they were fried in the neck oil of the surly bartender who took our order. The testicular mushrooms were the best thing we ordered even though the garlic mayo on the side resembled a tepid bowl of curdled man-milk. The burgers were obviously cooked on a griddle that hasn’t been cleaned in years. The food had remnants of meals from years past. Giving it a vintage, nostalgic quality. The chicken was shriveled and flavorless with enough mayonnaise goop on it to feed a family of 4. While waiting waiting for the fhood, we had time to take in the odor of unwashed children and great-grandpas ashtray. The table we sat at had a stickiness that I’ve only felt on the gummy underside of a second graders desk. 3 hours later, while writing this review, we taste these rancid flavors once again through accursed burps. This truly remarkable combination of disgusting furniture, surly servers, and god-awful food has truly cemented this place into our hall of shame.

It’s not often you can see the boat that caught your lunch from your table. A real gem of a place. Sitting outside in the courtyard on a sunny Octobers day. If a fabulous seafood restaurant is your thing then you should try this. Delicious fresh crab salads washed down with a glass of Cornish brewed beer. Just the ticket thankyou.
