The Tythings in Bath and North East Somerset

If you are looking to hold a function here I wouldn't bother! Trying to charge the family of a regular who probably spent thousands in this pub over the past few years - over £800 to hold his wake here! And they don't even close the pub off for private functions! 😂 oh and they tried stealing the car of the man who passed away by hiding it at the back of the pub!

They advertise that they serve food and offer all sorts of deals on food through the week, like 2 mains for £15.50 and Fish and Chip Friday but the reality is that it's hit or miss, two weeks on the trot I've been in for food now on a Friday evening and both times disappointed, first time we arrived at 730 to be told they stopped at 7 so the next time we arrived at 630 to be told the kitchen was overwhelmed and couldn't take our food order. An okay pub if you just want a pint, the end!

Great place. Friendly staff. Management friendly and helpful. Fantastic food. Cosy and warm. Clean tables and venue. Definitely the place to go.

Lovely staff, always friendly and welcoming. Excellent service. The food is great and not too pricey either with a good selection of vegetarian/vegan options if required. Come here often but was blown away by the service on Valentine’s Day. Tables were laid beautifully and provided with table service which is not usually done. 10/10 recommend.

The service and hospitality is fantastic. Nothing is too much bother for the manager and staff. Will definitely be back, thinking of making this our weekly meeting place. It's safe, warm and friendly. Well done, keep up the fantastic work. Food is great especially the steak.

Looks great from the outside! But staff weren’t very nice, a bit rude. Manager didn’t care when I told him.

Mixed feelings about this place. Servers were great to us but not as nice to some others in my party. Food was pre booked but the manager didn't actually confirm it (apparently had tried, I call bull). Went in at lunch time, no soap in ladies toilets. £4.40 for a pint of coke (London prices in Bishopsworth??) Food was extremely staggered despite knowing a large party were coming. Pub itself was nice, clientele lovely and welcoming to other non locals. Probably wouldn't go again but I can imagine it being fine for a few pints.

The owners or managers are unprofessional, do not have time for customers constantly shut when you want some food, and today I go for food with my son and his food was great but mine chips tasted like cooked well before and Reheated and when I complain I'm told to wait 25 minutes and when you approach the staff they are to scared to stand upto managers and let customers down, I've had a meal with about six chips the smallest piece of steak... let's just say it was a child size meal for £12, managers need to go if there not willing to speak to customers and are happy enough to send out food of that Quality and might I add this is the lady management... shocking place whoever owns the pub needs to get rid of current landlords.

If you want to go here for food then please DON'T!! They have hardly anything on the menu because they have something broke in the kitchen which has been like this for ages! Such a shame, it's a beautiful pub and so cosy and warm inside and it has so much potential to be even better.

I had a bad pint, it did not taste like my desired drink.. I asked the boss to change it and he wouldn’t. £4 down the toilet straight away!!. All the staff are miserable and rude apart from one. Waited 45 minutes for food that wasn’t great. Lucky to get 2 stars.

Visited with family and boy were we Impressed the friendly welcome ✔ the food ✔ clean ✔helpful ✔ staff ✔ landlord and landlady ✔ This place is amazing 👏 this is now our weekly place to visit, eat and relax. They show sports, have events for kids, live music and even have spiritual nights monthly. Top marks 👌 to management ... thank you for the great experience 😀

We have now visited twice and have been really impressed with the delicious food and friendly staff. I've ordered the rump steak on both occasions and both times it has been cooked to perfection! Will definitely be visiting again and would recommend The Tythings.

Popped into this pub today on my way home after finishing work never drank here before and grabbed myself a cone of chips on the way as I was only stopping for a quick pint and didn't have time to eat a full blown meal in the pub as I have kids to collect from school. I went in grabbed a pint the pub wasn't busy so I sat onside on the bench minding my own buisness when the landlord very rudely came out and rather then asking or explaining that my chips couldn't be eaten on the premises he practically spoke to me like a piece of dirt. I told him that was fine but he didn't need to be so rude upon which he went to get the landlady who came out to tell me that he wasn't being rude (even though she wasn't even here at the time) and then started giving me the 3rd degree. I'm now sat at the kings head enjoying a lovely with welcoming staff !!!!

I have been here twice now and the first time the food was as dried up. Looked and teased terrible. When I reported this to the member of staff, she did offer me another meal but I was put off by the first one so declined. I said I didn’t want my money back but they should be aware of how bad it was, the young girl said, I’ll let the landlady know. However, the landlady didn’t even respond and avoid make no contact with me. All she had to do was apologise. The second time went just for a drink myself and my husband were made to feel, again by my he landlady, like we weren’t even wanted there and really unwelcoming. Just after that there were children running round the whole pub, being chased by the landlady’s teenage daughter. The landlady thought this was ok. I don’t recommend it to anyone and will never go back
