Caffè Nero in Bath and North East Somerset

Very disappointed with the experience at this branch. I arrived at 3.30pm on a Sunday afternoon after an afternoon’s site seeing, hoping for a sit down and a nice cup of coffee in a proper cup and saucer. Unfortunately, the staff served my coffee in a paper cup without informing me first. I explained that I didn’t want coffee in a paper cup, yet despite there being numerous ceramic cups available, I was told that they were not serving with ceramic cups and admitted to me that it was because they were closing in half an hour and didn’t want any more washing up. The staff were two young girls obviously desperate to see the customer leave so they could close up (they close at 4 on Sundays) on time. Not at all a welcome atmosphere, I felt like an inconvenience to them and will not be returning to this branch.

Asistimos hoy 16 / 3 a las 4 pm - pidió dos tés para beber dentro y pidió tazas de porcelana - se les dijo que solo estaban haciendo tazas de papel para llevar, pero podríamos beberlo dentro - el té en una taza de papel simplemente no es el mismo gusto - las dos chicas El servicio estaba ocupado chateando y usando sus teléfonos móviles - no es una imagen profesional para su marca - diez minutos después de que nos atendieron un cliente recibió una taza de porcelana - Nos preguntamos esto al salir y nos dijeron que estaban detrás de la ducha, así que no querían darnos una taza - si su personal estaba haciendo, se les pagó para que lo hicieran en lugar de usar las redes sociales en sus teléfonos, entonces tal vez dos señoras maduras podrían haber tomado un té en una taza de porcelana - !

Excellent coffee and a wonderful in store atmosphere - staff were happy to chat and offered a range of dairy alternatives as I’m lactose intolerant.

Nicely tucked at the intersection of busy streets, cozy environment, coffee was great.

my favourite spot in town! perfect environment to sit and study or catch up with friends. the staff are always so lovely and welcoming and make the best coffee! in a student heavy city it’s so great to see a team full of young intelligent individuals who genuinely care for eachother and the job and have fun!

Staff are so friendly, helpful and kind. Lovely environment, so nice to see young people enjoying their jobs and getting along.

The staff were too busy talking to each other, one wearing headphones talking dso loudly we were all involved in her conversation. The crossword solving whilst customers queued was an interesting scenario! The toilets were pretty disgusting too. Not a great experience.

Llegué el 17. 02 . 2025 y el servicio fue más que impactante. La gerencia necesita mirar seriamente a sus empleados. Todos fueron ignorados por completo o recibidos con ‘qué quieres’. No estoy seguro de si fueron amigos o colegas de turno los que entraron, pero el personal estaba mucho más interesado en hablar con ellos. No por favor / gracias o modales del personal en absoluto. También vi a una chica con el pelo castaño amarrado y gafas hacer un comentario grosero y sarcástico a un hombre que estaba siendo perfectamente educado y estaba sorprendido de que esto había sucedido en realidad en un entorno de catering.

3 staff members preoccupied with talking to their mate all the time we've been there. Order made incomplete. Staff eating food while prepping order. Had to wait until they finished talking to ask a question. Slightly rude and obnoxious

Such a friendly workers especially Sydney who made our day trip great. Definitely deserves a pay rise for the service.

Relatively quick service and good hot coffee

Visited for Christmas Markets and place had a constant flow of customers and cannot praise Tom who was single handedly manning the counter and turning orders around quickly, efficiently and with manners and courtesy - watched him in awe as I sat and had some pistachio dessert (delicious!) and hot drink before hitting the serious shopping. Couldn't figure out why he was on his own but that was solved when someone came upstairs with trays of hot fresh pastries. Absolutely brilliant service and still, weeks later, cannot get over how nonplussed Tom was whilst faced with the constant flow of customers - this guy needs a medal and promotion.

Gran bienvenida a la llegada, personal muy amable y servicial. Desafortunadamente el lugar necesita una buena limpieza, se ve muy sucio y probado. El café estaba bien nada especial.

The staff are far too focused on each other to provide a good service. Their interpersonal skills are poor & there always seems to be some emotional disturbance just below the surface. Time for an intervention from the company & some training I believe. Additionally, the sandwiches are stale.

Went to collect a too good to go back before 6, went in at 5:45 one staff member chucked everything in the bin. Staff are totally rude and don’t bother about customers here.

The staff are progressively turning this once fine peaceful cafe into their own play area. Not somewhere any more for a quiet coffee , a read, and a respectful chat. Neros make a play on being a traditional coffee house. They were; this isn’t. Sad. Three days later. What a difference. Well done Tom. Endeavour to persevere.

This is my refuge before work most mornings. I’m always greeted with a smile and provided with great service and delicious coffee. Phoebe, Sydney and the whole team make this, undoubtedly, the friendliest and best Nero in Bath.

Toilets out of action as was one fridge. Looked a bit run down and need of a refurbishment.

Frankly speaking, the problem with all Nero branches is lack of cleanliness The coffee bean is wiped with the hand while the straw is uncovered and the barista puts it for you with his hand 😞

Not a lot of room for pushchairs/ wheelchairs and no accessible toilet, but there's a fair bit of seating downstairs and the staff were lovely.

Este Caffe Nero tiene la entrada de entrada más PELIGROSA que he visto. La puerta aparece acuñada abierta PERO no hay cuña / mecanismo para asegurarla abierta. Entré por la 'puerta deooen' justo cuando comenzó a cerrarse y me golpeó a través del ojo izquierdo. El personal me dio un poco de hielo para poner en mi ojo + ceja, pero todavía está hinchando + obviamente me dio bastante choque con el golpe repentino. Reportado a la Administración

The toilets wernt working at all and coffee was awfull won't be visiting any time soon, and it looks very shabby

Lady with the glasses (potentially manager?) is amazing. I come here just to see her as she always brightens my day without fail, and knows exactly what I want. No matter how busy, she always checks in with me and really boosts my day. Love her, and the other staff are so nice. Love reading my book and enjoying a cup of tea here ❤️

Visited this afternoon (Thursday) for a coffee and cake, which was very needed after a long day of shopping. I was impressed by the selection available! Café was nice and warm, very cozy atmosphere and the two staff on were absolutely lovely- very friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

Feel they should show additional seating sign as you would walk by to elsewhere if you saw all the seats inside were taken. And really good seating area down stairs. Could have a wider selection of sandwiches and pastries. Service though was very good.

The barista was on her own yesterday in the morning but did an amazing job serving everyone with very little wait times . She had a super friendly attitude and really made our visit one to remember.

Didn't have food so cannot comment. Went in early, 8.15ish and it was nice and quiet, just how I prefer it. There 3 other coffee shops within 30yds of this but you can't beat Caffe Nero.

Ordered two single espressos, but unfortunately they don’t have coffee cups, only cappuccino. Coffee wasn’t good, I had to put two sugar sachets, outside tables were dirty and they don’t even a toilet. They advised me to go to M&S

The tables are disgusting and the trainee barrista was clearly in a bad mood. "Do you want chocolate on the top?" She prepared the card reader without telling me and then walked out of the café to make a phone call. I could have taken the coffees and not paid. Whilst she is talking on the phone the tables are still filthy. We had to have takeaway cups because the dishwasher wasn't working it is a shame she didn't explain it right at the start as we might have spent our money elsewhere

Disgusting dirty cafe. Floor absolutely covered in dirty bird feathers including under fridges and tables. Scruffy and unclean. Sign up saying all customers to drink take out only and no toilets available to use due to rain (?!) However lots of customers sat in drinking (? Out of date sign? ALL drinks were being served in disposable cups. Mine was so full it spilt all over counter when I place lid on top. One solo staff member doing his best under the circumstances but he clearly was overwhelmed with the duties of doing everything on his own. Nasty hot bitter coffee. Would not return

Popped in for a coffee to start the day. Friendly staff

We went in for some iced drinks yesterday to relax out of the sun for abit and felt as if the staff were totally rude and dissociated from the customers.

Coffee so bitter it was undrinkable, complained all i got was sorry, we’ll make another with our other blend but it will cost another 30p. I regularly use nero and never had a coffee so bad, won’t be going back.

Good food as always. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Disappointed that the toilets were not clean (pee spots and dust all over the cistern) AND the soap dispenser and lock on the door was broken... Sort it out Nero. This is a pattern ive seen in many of your cafés so pull your socks up already!

Having a trainee barista on her own at lunch hour with a full shop is beyond a joke. There was only 4 customers ahead of me, 10 mins later only 1 has been served and my lunch break wasted. Now I'm hungry and angry with no time to eat.

Excellent food. Good coffee. Good service. Friendly staff.

This store recently suffered from a lack of staff and was looking shabby however a new manager (Jen ?) has recently turned this place around ! Wanted to give her a big shout out as the place is now clean and plenty of cakes out ( most important! ) nice to give credit when it’s due ! Also so friendly even when ultra busy . A credit to Nero

Cramp, tired and very very slow service. Place really needs some TLC. Behind the counter looked an absolute state considering it was early on a Saturday morning. Looked like they had closed the night before and then re-opened without clearing anything. Staff also in own clothes and seemed very disinterested.

This is a chain Coffee shop. We had Americano and cinnamon rool. The rool was dry and not freshly baked. The restaurant was filfy, even the bar where the food and drinks was made was filty and needed a good cleaning

Visited during Christmas market.very very bussy, dirty machines and everything behind counter. bottles with fresh milk next to bin on the floor. Even you busy like that you can still clean as you go..

Went for coffee outside rush hours, the staff I was served by was lovely but she doesn't have the appropriate training. The place is also very filthy, various machines used behind the counter looks like they could need a wash. By reading other reviews it seems to be a recurring issue with slow service and filthy work stations. Please do set aside enough time and support to train your staff, they're clearly customer friendly just makes awful coffee! I ended up at spoons having a cappuccino out of the automatic machine and that was far better than the one I was served at Nero today.

My favourite cafe, delicious coffee and cakes. Service was very disappointing due to one member of staff left to serve customers, clear and clean tables and cope with a a queue of customers. Poor girl hadn't had a break and had been there since 11.30am and it was now after 4pm......another member of staff team had gone off and not returned at the end of the break time. 100% praise to the young girl who kept her cool and carried on regardless. Hopefully it's not usually like this. Team work required. Would I visit again....... Yes!

Good for a quick snack. Soup was nice, sandwiches lovely, coffee delicious. Staff friendly and efficient.

Took a long time to get served and drinks were really poor

I loved how fresh the croissants were - flaky and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Coffee is also always very good. The floor though inside the shop could do with a good clean.

Nice lad running it, but oh dear the place was dirty, tables uncleaned, floor littered. When asked for table to be cleaned, a tissue was used to sweep the crumbs on the floor.

Certainly not a well oiled machine. Service was slow and a bit chaotic and it didn't even feel that busy. Coffee was good, as to be expected from the chain. As was the food.

We visited this Caffé Nero on a Saturday lunchtime and were very disappointed. First, the good bits : great location and good quality food and drink. Now, the bad bits: Some of the staff seemed to resent customers being there and getting in the way of their private conversations. One male member of staff in particular made a point of being unhelpful and clearly didn’t like serving people. There was a refusal to reward a loyalty card even though the number of drinks already bought was over the required amount, with an explanation it could be redeemed on a subsequent visit. Knives, spoons and serviettes were nowhere to be seen. The place wasn’t very clean; soap was lacking in the toilets and litter was seen to be lying on both floors.

Excellent coffee, great location in Bath. I was a bit cold with the AC on though. Helpful freindly staff.

Staff very nice but the place is filthy. Glass is filthy. The floors are filthy. Tables are in cleared and filthy They have the worst toilets I’ve been into in my whole life. They have no toilet paper or soap. I’ve been in developing countries where they have been cleaner. Heath and safety needs to close this place down. You have been reported.

Shop floor was filthy and glass counter was too. We left without ordering and went across street to a different shop.

Staff are really smiley and helpful. Drinks take next to no time without compromise on quality. In the dead centre of Bath too which is so convenient.

Krótko i zwięźle kawa super,lokal ok ale obsługa beznadziejna .Barman źle usłyszał zamówienie I już foch mu się wlonczyl. Zaczął żucać rzeczami jak podał kawę to pół spodeczka oblał. Ja tam nie wrócę, poszukam inne caffe nero.

Good location. Small on the ground floor, but there is also a basement extra seating room. Friendly staff, but coffee was too bitter for me. A sweet muffin helped, a bit, to balance the taste.

Looks nice from the outside and the area with the armchair is cosy. Then you go downstairs and there it's dark and not too clean.... Toilets are a disaster... No sure why as Nero is a chain and should be good for hygiene.... Well thats what you would expect. Coffee was ok but a little bitter.

Usually overcrowded...the toilets need remodelling and the place is looking tired. The staff are great.

Very busy not a big shop but had a few vegan options. The woman serving deserves a pay rise, she was rushing around but very efficient and still smiling.

Nice Nero, the picture at the back has a scary ghost looking woman in the background, so that's fun to spot...Had a brownie and swore at the server in excitement when offered whipped cream on it

Generally, needs a good clean. Door to bathrooms slam, making impossible to sit downstairs.

Coffee delicious and fab staff just the whole shop needs a clean up and painting for a change coffee shop with high end prices I feel this should be a priority!

Proper Italian coffee and quick service

Outstanding service for such a small store! Coffee was good as always, friendly staff, small store but plenty of seating available even at lunchtime! Food arrived piping hot without being burned (unburned food can be a speciality at some stores). Nero should be proud of their staff at this store, they are nothing short of phenomenal.
