Stumbled across this place and is now my favourite place!!!!! The place bought a smile to my face as soon as I walked in! Yes it's old in every sense of the word but it bought back memories of going to such places as a kid with my parents. Wish there were more places like this and less of the pretentious ones that pretend to be something they are not. Home cooked food by the lovely landlady and amusing banter with the landlord. Wish it was closer to become my local!!!!!

The Tynte Arms Inn, Enmore, Bridgwater. First visit to this hidden gem for lunch. A good selection of food for starters, mains and desserts, in a cosy, rustic country pub. The food was delicious home made and very good value. We will be coming back again.

I was so thankful to this couple. I called them Thursday to see if they had availability in their accommodation for that weekend (I was travelling to a glamping site to spend the weekend on a hen do… and found out I was pregnant :-l ). Thankfully Peter the landlord, and his lovely wife, were very accommodating and sorted me out with a last minute place to stay, giving me some respite from the drunken hens lol. They even done me a deal on my 2 night stay, which was lovely of them. The accommodation is basic, but warm, inviting, comfortable, and very clean. It had everything I needed for a weekend stay. I was a bit apprehensive at the thought of coming back and fore in the dark on my own, but was soon put at ease, and they took great care of me. Peter even called me Saturday morning to check how my stay went and if I needed anything. I also noticed my room was also cleaned again on my return Saturday afternoon, which was a nice touch. The room had a TV, coffee and tea station, wardrobe with hangers, lots of space, and a lovely sized bathroom. I was very pleased with my stay, and on speaking with my husband when I arrived back in sunny Wales I think we will be visiting again :-)

Visited today with two friends, I can honestly say that this was probably the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. The chicken was on the bone and looked like it had been boiled, so I asked if I could have pork instead. The veg was microwaved to death and tasted funky. The desert, well what can I say, none of us could eat this either. The landlord was so rude, making digs that because we were smokers, this was the reason we could not eat their food. He was asked to stop but didn’t. How they are still in business is beyond me. AWFUL PLACE

Before reading on, please bear in mind: It turns out that our experience wasn't unique, so yours probably won't be either... Having left Minehead in biblical levels of flooding, me, my wife, and our infant daughter made our way over the moors in challenging conditions and found ourselves in desperate need of sustenance and warmth. Driving through Enmore, we spied the glowing windows of a village inn, The Tynte Arms. With relief at the prospect of a warm and dry setting in which to take lunch, we pulled into the car park and then made our way across the road, huddled beneath a too-small umbrella, and entered The Tynte Arms. First impressions were of a very traditional pub that was some years past a needed refurbishment but, partial to the charms of a old-fashioned hostelry, I thought this was likely an aesthetic that worked for the establishment and took it in my stride (along with the musty aroma). However, I then noticed that the clientele had all the diversity of a Conservative Party Conference and were of an age bracket that made one think they'd happened upon the early-bird sitting of a Saga cruise ship's canteen. Nonetheless, we made our way to the bar, where we stood for some time before being "greeted" by the landlord. "Why the quotation marks?", I hear you question, dear reader. Well, "greeted" is a rather generous term for a person walking into your eyeline and looking at you as though you've just taken a dump in their porch. Especially when that person's sole objective is to be hospitable. Eventually, we gave in and broke the awkward silence by asking if we could order food. "No," replied the landlord, "we're fully booked". "Okay.", said we, glancing (confused) around the half full premises with no reservation cards in sight, "Can you recommend anywhere else, nearby?" It was at this point, unknown to him, that this landlord likely delivered his best service by recommending the Enmore Inn, found further along the road toward Bridgwater. Oh - he also let us have a wee, which was very gracious. In summary, visit The Tynte Arms if you're: 1) Out on a "Hot Fuzz" themed weekend: You can drop in here for a real flavour of Sandford's "Crown" pub and be told to bugger off for the "greater good". 2) In need of another way to highlight the exceptional service offered a mile down the road, simply pop in here and the landlord will oblige by raising any other publican's standards of service to god-like in comparison. 3) A masochist with a penchant for awful hospitality and dated decor.

Brilliant pub in a nice tucked away area. Owner was very welcoming and kind, 5* service. We really enjoyed our drinks and meal there and could not believe the value for money, contrary to some of the reviews on Google. All I can say is, take little notice of all the bad reviews. Absolutely lovely food, the best food we have ever had at a pub in fact. Coming from two people who are always trying new pubs! Proper homemade, high quality food. We came here after staying close by for a holiday and not disappointed at all. Brilliant service and very friendly landlord, couldn’t do enough for us. Only downside is that we wished we were staying in the area longer to pay another visit! I can see the rating of this place has gone down after some bad publicity however I am very pleased we still went here and saw past these reviews as it was brilliant. We were worried it would be a very ‘local’ venue where you walk in and feel unwelcome however was the opposite of this. We felt very at home and welcomed. Left feeling very full and the value was excellent. If we are ever in the area again we will have no hesitation in going back and will be sure to recommend to people we know.

Unless you experience something first hand you have No right. We had a lovely snack here and the host was the most delightful gentleman. Charming, funny and couldn’t do enough for us. We had arranged to meet some friends here for lunch. On arrival I sat at the bar waiting for service and when the landlord appeared he seemed perplexed. When I said we were there to have some lunch he replied that he couldn't do lunch today. This was despite the fact that the pub already had a few visitors eating lunch and there were menu boards all over the place advertising....lunch. There were even welcome boards outside, advertising....lunch. Plus, the smell of deep-fried food was wafting into the bar area from the kitchen. I was so taken aback by the reluctance to serve us that I didn't really know what to say and we quickly left. It was a very awkward and frosty conversation and despite the fact I love to support traditional local pubs I could not honestly recommend this place to anybody, A great pity.

Went here on a Saturday evening with my wife.No kids with us and no dogs with us.First thing the Landlord said was .. "You don't want food do you?!". We asked why and were told to mind our own business ...Hang on - we only went for a quiet drink and within seconds of arriving found ourselves being beaten up by an aggressive old man.We are a quiet couple in our 50's and did nothing to expect this behaviour. Never been before ...We left. This is a very odd place.
