When this first started I went with friends and it was great. Went again on Friday it was a real disappointment. Too much batter, very little fish and both over cooked. Such a shame - sadly won’t be risking it again.

This pub has a new landlord (well a returning landlord) The pub is clean, welcoming with great beers and has a nice family atmosphere. The stand out for me though is their excellent food. They have started doing fish and chip Friday and Steak Wednesday. They are reasonable in price and extremely good. They put surrounding pubs to shame. You won’t be disappointed

Visited here last night and decided to have something to eat. Tgey normally just do fish and chips on a Friday but they had a special on Steak for £16.50 soI had the steak and wifey had the fish and chips at £12.50. Both were great. My steak was perfectly cooked and the fish was enormous. The Beer batter was light and delicious. Recommended but best to book.

Arrived to the newly managed pub and was met by Tim the friendly smiley landlord. Went as a group of 6. This is the second week of going for a steak. The first time was blown away by the steak which was made to perfection for us all. On the second visit it was the same "outstanding". This pub and its staff so welcoming and the food amazingly tasty. What a difference to the previous landlords dingy offerings. Keep it up Tim and staff you're doing your village a great service. Much better than the frozen rubbish from other pubs in the village too. It's a 5 star from me and I'll most definately be back for more of the same.....

Well returned after being closed went in on Sunday four adults asked for food and was offered roasts, Pork, Beef, Chicken, Lamb. We were seated in the garden patio where well kept garden and lawns, we did not book had the Harveys best and the Camden Ale great well kept ale and nice to see a lot of choice in beers. The food arrived and the portions were very generous and ample all fresh no frozen factory food here the service was good and table service was offered for more drinks and finished off with Hot sticky pudding and home made apple pie and custard. The interior was spotless and clean and antibac bottles on most tables and entrances and noticed staff cleaned tables as people vacated. A typical nice local pub with nice friendly staff support your local these pubs are hard to replace.

Visited this pub recently after covid restrictions had been lifted. Sat in the garden and was surprised how dirty and grimey the furniture was. Even more disappointing was the dried dog excrement (waste) on the grass by our table. The ashtrays and furniture were covered in cobwebs. Our bill arrived 2 drinks, 1 pint of beer and half a pint of cider. £8.60 ! The cashier could not work out the price of the drinks, nor was the chip and pin machine working. I questioned the bill and the cashier said "just call it £7 cash" It's a real shame as Hadlow is such a nice village having come from the City, and a real shame places like this exist, that have no pride. Will not be returning.

With its old association to hops and brewing you could assume Hadlow would have a great pub. Instead it has the Two Brewers. In the four years I’ve been in the village, I’ve seen the place run by new people each year, with no further investment from Harvey’s it would seem (other than the recent turquoise signage). I really want to see the Brewers do well, I want to visit a lot more than I do, but it always ends in disappointment. I was looking forward to my most recent visit, it was a sunny evening, pubs had just opened again post Covid lockdown and it had been a while since I’d sat in a pub garden with my wife. The garden was really tatty which I found quite surprising, but nothing compared to finding out that minimum spend on contactless card payment is £10, really? When contactless is the preferred method everywhere. Thankfully I had a fiver in my wallet which afforded us two tired tasting halves of Harvey’s. I will leave it a while before heading back again. If at all.

After coming to this establishment almost every Friday to have a pint and a chat with my colleagues(working at a finance company 5 minutes walk away), I was quite shocked today to be shouted at by the Barmaid/Landlady (unsure which applies) for opening a sandwich from the local shop. Please bear in mind we have done so almost every Friday for the last 3 months, at no point had this ever been mentioned as an issue, we had even put our lunch on the bar whilst paying for our drinks where the barman did not mention anything of the like. We have also asked about buying lunch from the pub before, but were advised they don't serve lunch.

This is a very nice traditional pub, new people taken over and brought it back to a pub with home made food, it has had a make over with soft furnishings and beer served from the cask at back of the bar, beer garden, dog friendly and events. Had Sunday lunch and very good portions and some music in the afternoon to top it off. Four real ales and selection of lagers and choice of wines with bar nibbles on the bar.

We had the light breakfast which was lovely good price. The beef stew was nice but was mainly meat not much else in it. I was told a selection of veg would be with it and only peas. Small size too. They had no kids menu available as they did t have anything thing for and I was told that we could have anything of the main menu for smaller cost. No jackets available so my 2 year old had a tuna sandwich with a tiny side of chips which was extra and I was charged more then the cost of a sand which itself. They charged me the price of a kids meal at £4.95 and the sandwich was cheaper. Nice staff and friendly atmosphere I just wouldn’t recommend eating there as it’s very pricey for what you get.

Called in here ‘and hoc’ for a a few drinks before going off to find an Indian restaurant for a curry. Despite not serving food on a Monday night the landlady, Nicky overheard us talking about a curry and she volunteered to go and prepare the most amazing beef curry ever! They took over the pub in July 17 I believe so reviews prior to that should be disregarded but these guys are really good at what they do. It is a very family orientated establishment and the owners Mum, children and dogs were in the bar but they were not intrusive in the least and understood customers space but if you wanted to chat, as we did, we were made most welcome.Got to say a big thumbs up for the food which I believe is going to be a lot of South African cuisine on the menu as this is where the owners used to live. Please give it a go and support your local!!

We have had two very good meals here but recently have twice been very let down. One Monday when the sign outside said "Food served today" having already ordered our drinks we were then told they do not serve food on a Monday. Today the same board was outside and when going in for lunch we were told they hadn't got a chef so no food today. Being Polling Day the village was busy and to have a sign up advertising food but not having any seemed extremely short sighted. Will ring next time before setting off.

We ate at the Two Brewers as part of a large party to celebrate Christmas. The meal was pricey and the portion-size bordered on mean. Several parties were taking place at the same time and the seating arrangements were uncomfortably tight. Mass catering, especially at Christmas is always a bit hit and miss and rarely value for money so when we were invited to try this pub again recently we thought we'd give it another go.Sadly, the prices are still too high, portion sizes still too small and the food is still ordinary and unexciting.

We called in for lunch after a walk around Hadlow village and were very glad we did. The pub serves real ales and we chose the Hadlow ale made from local hops. The lunch menu had the sort of traditional dishes that I like to see in a pub - fish and chips, ploughman's, soup, etc and our choice - pies. And what pies they were! Steak and ale pie with chips for one of us and game pie with mash for the other. Absolutely delicious. I particularly liked the unusual mushrooms in the pies and the side gravy flavoured with rosemary. Friendly efficient service. We'll be back again soon.

This is a regular family run pub and eatery, not many left now. My family, friends and I come here regularly and have had lunches, dinners and family parties here. Sunday carvery offered us a variety of meats last Sunday, including venison and a chocolate brownie to die for, for pudding. Plenty of perfectly cooked veg and huge Yorkshire puds. Don't know how the roasts were done but they were exceptional and so lovely and peppery. Beer is local and Harvey's of Lewes, plus at the mo' you can buy Christmas beers. Table wine decent and very reasonable plus a bottle of prossecco not dear either for party nights!Really recommend this pub, with its pensioner meals at a special price, Friday night fish and chips and ploughman's lunches, among other foods and specials. We have since visited for Sunday lunch, which again was fantastic value with great food. Having read other reviews it is a Pub with a restaurant that serves traditional Pub Grub. Establishments like this are so hard to find and it is refreshing that they are still out there. They have a fantastic selection of quality Beers and wines, the whole restaurant and bar is overseen by an old fashioned landlord and his staff. Long live the traditional Pub. It all seemed very well organised and we soon started to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere. There were six of us in our team and although non of us really wanted to order a full three course meal we asked a selection of the starters and a couple of side dishes which the Landlord was more than happy to oblige. The young lady behind the bar who also served was very very good, easy to talk to and a credit to whoever owns this pub. Due to the fact of our long wait she only charged us for three meals. She said it was the chefs day off and they had a young chef, I suspect just out of training school. He or she still has a lot to learn. Dined at the Two Brewers this evening on a Groupon Deal. On entering the pub we were given a friendly welcome and ordered our drinks from a very pleasant lady, the Italian Pinot was very nice and my husbands pint was good also. We chose the prawn starter which was served freshly cooked on a bed of salad leaves with a spicy sauce, we both enjoyed this and had high hopes for our main course. We were to be very disappointed, I ordered the slow roasted pork belly and my husband ordered the steak. The pork belly arrived and looked good until you tried to cut it either through the crackling or from the underneath it was so tough you could have probably soled your shoes with it! there was no way this was slow roasted, it was as if it had just been put into a very hot oven as soon as the waitress had taken my order, it was totally inedible. The waitress asked if everything was ok and I explained the pork was very tough, she asked would I like to use a steak knife!! I refused and just ate the vegetables which were ok, but I would mention the gravy was no jus it was made up gravy granules! My husbands steak was a good size and was edible but I am suspicious that it is 21 days matured, the chips were cheap frozen ones and the peas were like bullets. I purchased the groupon voucher to try this pub/restaurant as its only about half an hour from where I live, I did not pay a lot of money for it, but it reinforces my view that you get what you pay for. Had I paid £5,95 each for the starter and £13.50 for the steak and £10 approx for the pork this would have amounted to robbery, no way were these meals worth that. Outside the board states award winning chef I don't think so!. This is really a pub, and it should stick to its strength of being a friendly boozer a gourmet restaurant or a good pub restaurant it is not.

All of the meals were exquisitely exacuted and service was extremely good and friendly. A great find and will definitely recommend the two brewers to anyone.

Its not rocket science!! With many pubs trying to re-invent the wheel when it comes to hospitality with numerous imported beers and wines costing the earth and meals that require a waiter/waitress with a language degree to explain the menu, it is refreshing to find this local pub serving well kept local beers and ales along side great quality well cooked pub food. No crisp white linen here but just good food well priced served on time and hot. What else does the dinner want from their meal???? Well if its a nice greeting and friendly staff then look no further! In these risky economic times more pubs should take a leaf out of this young couples book..........keep it simple, keep it affordable and they will come in their droves. The Two Brewers takes you back to the days of the good old local. The menu is simple but extensive with all the usual favourites priced from around £6 - £14 for a main course and special offers including two steak meals and a bottle of wine for £25 and two courses for £12.95 you simply cannot go wrong here. We like it so much we have visited twice in the last month.

On Friday I went to a London restaurant which had appalling reviews from Groupon users who had been treated poorly with substandard food, because they were using a Groupon voucher. That made me a bit nervous about redeeming our voucher the following day. What a completely different experience. My husband and I took my parents as an anniversary treat and what a treat it was. We had 3 different starters between the 4 of us. The king prawns, the mushrooms and the chorizo. They were all so delicious (not that there was any sharing, it was too good to share). For mains, my parents had the steaks and my husband and I have the steak pie. I have never had such a huge portion of pie which was chock full of steak. It was so filling (but not heavy to the point where you end up feeling ill) and the chips and vegetables were also prepared really well. My parents really enjoyed their steaks too. The lady who served us was really polite and welcoming, we got no different treatment as we had a voucher. All the staff were really nice actually and as a result I made everyone have desert (also half the price of other establishments) and we spent plenty at the bar because we wanted to. I would definitely come back as they prices are good, the food excellent and the experience enjoyable.

Used our Groupon voucher on our first visit to Two Brewers at lunchtime today, and after reading some of the previous reviews, we wondered what their problem was. This is a well run, clean, friendly pub doing excellent food and providing good service. My husband had chicken and chorizo skewer and I had tiger prawns in filo pastry starters which were delicious. Main courses were an amazing large, well cooked rump steak with trimmings and a scrummy steak and ale pie with vegetables. Portions were generous. The pub garden is delightful on a sunny day and the young couple running the pub are charming, eager to please and deserve to succeed. We will be back!

I went to this pub with my husband and parents after buying a deal on Groupon. We received a warm welcome from the staff, who were friendly, polite and attentive. This was probably the only part of the pub that was any good. The food was to be desired. The chips were like other reviews say, cheap frozen oven chips and the steak was not like a steak as you would expect, rather a thin slice of rump, which was well done as opposed to medium that was asked for. It all seemed rather cheap and definitely not worth the values the menu said each dish was worth. The desserts were not homemade, but the sort you would buy in the freezer department at any local supermarket. My mums lemon meringue pie was still frozen and solid in the middle and the rest was just cheap quality. I will not be returning to this pub. It wasn't even worth the money spent on the Groupon deal. The decor needs an update, the walls a lick of paint. To end on a positive note, the staff were friendly, polite and happy to help and the garden seemed nice!

We went on a Sunday at 3pm and the initial welcome was a little slow, but we decided that particular member of staff was new as from thereafter service was friendly and good.We asked to move from our booked table into the garden as it was such a lovely day, this was handled perfectly. The pub garden is small and also the smoking area but is a lovely sun trap, the pub itself is fine, the food is good and home cooked, high quality, freshly prepared and all requests adhered to. The only hint I would give is go a little earlier on a Sunday as by 4pm they had started to run out lf some items on the menu. We had steaks and they were wonderful, all cooked to each persons taste and of good size.We saw other peoples food and it all looked wonderful, in fact we would like to go back to try the burgers our neighbour had.Do check your bill though, it was an honest mistake Im sure but we were charged for drinks we didnt have and sadly didnt notice till we checked the bill later. Too late to go back.

I recently took my family here, we had a pleasant evening. The sarter of tempura prawns very good. Main of steak was good and they did everything we asked, even to my Dad's fussy standards! Pudding wasnt the best of quality but reasonable. Overall very nice pub, with very friendly staff, a relaxed feel and a good decor.

As previous reviewer said, staff were friendly and drinks a good price. However the food was dreadful. My starter garlic mushrooms on toast (soggy bread) was edible! We had a groupon voucher, and the main selling point was the *Matured for 21 days 8oz rump steak* unfortunately they had no rump steak, so we ordered the alternative steak (I think it was Rib eye) When our meals arrived, the (frozen) chips were not cooked, the waitress took our meal away, after a couple of minutes she brought our plates back (minus the chips) as they did not want our steak to spoil!! The steaks were almost inedible, fatty and chewy. The chips returned (maybe the same ones?) they were dry and lifeless.Needless to say we complained., the waitress was very apologetic. The landlady said she would be speaking to her butcher. My husband was given a complimentary pudding, he chose bread and butter pudding with custard, it seemed to have been heated in a microwave, and was extremely tough and unrecognisable as a bread and butter pudding. , In all, a very unpleasant evening.

Bar lady nice, friendly and polite. Drinks a good price. Unfortunately that's the only positives I can state. Didn't have the starter or mains we wanted so had to choose again (not a big problem) but food served was not good and waitressing poor. Also lacking in ambience. Don't recommend. Our daughter had given us a groupon voucher for here as a thank you for lots of babysitting, so it was a shame it wasn't better.

There is a real problem with the food in this pub. We had a Sunday lunch and during the time we were there only two other tables were occupied. The reason is that if you have been the once you will not return. The starter we had described as tiger prawns in filo pastry, was infact 4 of the smallest frozen prawns you could find, with a few salad leaves and a spicy dip for the ridiculous price of £5.95.The main course of steak came with a few veg and frozen chips which were just warm. You could have used the steak to sole your shoes. This cost £13.50.

This is a proper old-fashioned pub in the lovely village of Hadlow which is now enhanced by the superb restoration of Hadlow Tower by the Vivat Trust. The pub serves food Wednesdays to Sundays and we had lunch there on a Wednesday. It was quiet and hence the service was very quick, and the food was very good - I had a steak and ale pie which delivered exactly what you would hope for, together with nicely cooked and presented vegetables. The local beer is also good and I would recommend this as a great example of a traditional country pub.

My wife and I visited this pub-restaurant outside of our area, because they had a promotion. The new management is keen to build up its reputation and I guess they are going the right way. Both the owner who served us and the chef, who came with an apology were pleasant. The service was good; the food OK but not great. The starter - too much mayonnaise in theprawn cocktail; the sauce on the garlic mushrooms was too sweet for my taste- but that is just personal. No complaints with the main (8oz, 21 day matured steak) - local ingredients, they said - but nothing extraordinary either.Ambience ok, parking behind. Yes, I would recommend.

Having tried all the pubs in Hadlow I can safely say that this is the best one. The beer is good, the service is good, the company is good and the food is good. There is a pool table and darts board and friendly locals to play with if needed. I will be returning to The Two Brewers as I had a thoroughly pleasant evening there.

We went to this pub before the new management took over, found the service to be verey poor an the food not great, so on hearing new people had taken over we returned, but sadly the service has not improved, we had to wiat some time before we were served, and the pub was not busy. when are food arrived it was cold and not that well cooked, the new management has got to raise its game if they are to make a sucsses of this place.

I'm not sure what Peter J's beef is but I too have visited this pub in the past and found it to be dirty, smelly, unpleasant and poor service, so on hearing about the new management decided to give it another chance...staff and service were very welcoming and plesant, and the general atmosphere was buzzing, maybe this was because it was their relaunch night but i have since been back and although not packed to the rafters it was a much more pleasant experience than the previous landlords, and the food was freshly cooked!...in true Arnie style "i'll be back"

Good; lovely fresh food, cosy decor, easy parking, plenty of menu choices. Bad; INCREDIBLY slow service. Arrived at 6.15 for our pre booked table, told it wasn't ready despite the restaurant appearing fairly quiet, we were then seated about twenty minutes later. It was about another 15 minutes before we got to order drinks and about another 20 before they arrived. One of our party ordered a water once our drinks arrived and it was again another lengthy wait. Our jug of water never turned up! We ordered food which again took ages to arrive. It arrived about 8pm which considering we arrived at 6.15pm was very late. When we finished our meal the waitress asked if we were finished, we replied we were but then she went off and never came back to clear our plates. It took ages to receive the bill and nobody came over to take payment so we ended up going up to the bar to pay. Overall some positives but the amount of waiting time let the side down considerably. Not sure we would rebook.

I went to Spoons in Tonbridge with my friends. We ordered 2 rounds and after the 3rd round the guy serving us says he refuses to serve us anymore because he heard that one of our friends lost her voice (she is ill). He said he was the manager on duty and had the right to refuse to serve us. That really shocked us! He weren’t even tipsy! He was very rude, unfriendly and disrespectful. His name is Chandler. He made us feel horrible and he made us feel very uncomfortable. Very rude! We were sat at a table, talking, and he started to treat us as some drunks! Chandler is a horrible manager with no respect for people! Avoid at all costs

Greatest "local" pub for miles around. Really good atmosphere and friendly staff. Good selection of lagers and loads of guest ales. Great place for a Sunday roast and really good live bands every few weeks.
