A lovely Sunday family lunch. A busy but friendly atmosphere. They were able to seat 8 adults and four small children comfortably. We had booked some time ago though. My wife and I had the Sunday roast beef. Lovely big yorkshire pudding and beef very good! My only complaint is that the broccoli was undercooked and it would have been nice to have more than two mangetout. Service couldn't be faulted.

Great food, lovely atmosphere. Edit, Had their Sunday lunch on 20th October, and it was exceptional, perfect roast potatoes, the veg cooked to perfection. The beef was full of flavour and the gravy divine. And the staff was attentive and friendly. I can highly recommend their Sunday lunch.

The Swan deserves to be Michelin star. The front staff were warm and welcoming with a friendly smile. We were guided through the bar area to the dining area which was dimly lit with dark wood giving it a golden ambience and made me look incredibly tanned. Our cocktail starters were worthy of the best London cocktail bars, and I've been to the voted best ones in London. Friendly attentive waiting staff were experienced and made us smile. My steak... Oh my god. I've eaten steak around Argentina, I've eaten steak in decent restaurants in Paris. This Kentish pub placed the holy grail of steak in front of me. Char grilled lines and a couple of mm of cooked meat with a spongy pink centre. Perfect medium rare how I like it and how I asked for it. The accompanying potatoes and mushrooms were of equal quality. I was in heaven eating this meal. We went for two desserts to share and again the quality was world class. I cannot recommend somewhere more. If you're reading this, book your table now. You won't be disappointed.

Really enjoyed our evening here at The Swan. The food is cooked well, presented nicely and most importantly, tastes delicious. Cheesecake was double decent! Food is priced sensibly, wine list is extensive and well put together. If I were to comment on anything, it would be that I would like a few more options on the "by the glass" list - but also completely understand as to why there aren't. This didn't detract from our evening and isn't a criticism, I just like having the option (I'm greedy)! Zac was our server. He gets it, he's a new age waiter, isn't scared to recommend or give advice on some food/drinks, or even have brief conversation (very refreshing). Service turns a good meal into a great meal - Zac certainly did that, thank you.

Spent a Saturday afternoon here drinking delicious cocktails and absolutely loved it. Fabulous range of cocktails for a pub, and all the ones I ordered were delicious, unique and beautifully presented. Decor is lovely, seating cosy and service friendly and attentive. Slight criticism is the as the afternoon turned into early evening service became overbearing as a member of staff approached our table persistently every few minutes asking if we were ready to order more drinks. There were only two of us and it was clear that our glasses were not nearly empty so it felt like we were being rushed, perhaps as they wanted to accommodate more patrons arriving. But I had a lovely time and would definitely return.

I rarely bother to post reviews now because they become devalued by the ludicrously stupid comments some people make. But now and again somewhere deserves credit for going above and beyond expectations. My group arrived for brunch 40 minutes late due to acute traffic problems. I arrived ahead of the others, took their orders over the phone, explained the issue to the very helpful staff who assured me they would time the food to arrive when the guests arrived (after the deadline for brunch). As promised, the timing was perfect, food delicious, drinks much needed. Everyone there seemed genuinely happy to help us celebrate and we all appreciated the welcoming atmosphere the staff created. Thanks to you all. We will definitely be back!

Just came back from what could have been one of the best lunches this year. Whoever creates/controls the wine list at The Swan is very good at their job because the wine list is varied and the two wines we tried were excellent examples. I'll start with the wines (as they were so good). Fo the white I selected the Sancerre, at £66 it was a tad pricey for a Sancerre but absolutely worth the money (one of the best examples I have had this year). For the red I went a little different to the norm and selected Barolo (£72 I think) and although it looked a little thin, it was absolutely perfect (yet again, congrats to the wine buyer). For lunch, I chose some Oscietra caviar and a couple of oysters, my wife chose the terrine and we both decided to follow with sirloin steaks, mushrooms, salad and green beans (no carbs). The down side of this experience at this point is that considering the starters are all cold, I had to ask the waitress for them (we had been sitting for about an hour by then and the Sancerre was nearly finished). The caviar and oysters were delicious (honestly, try them both) and I tried a bit of my wifes terrine (also absolutely delicious). Now for the main courses, to be honest, this is where it all went really wrong! The steaks ordered were medium and medium rare (I realise that lots of people have different versions of how they percieve this). Unfortunately they sent the steaks the wrong way around so the manager offered to cook two new steaks and sides (excellent service from the manager). We waited about another 20 minutes and the new steaks arrived, this time not only did they serve them wrong (I had my wifes and she had mine), the steaks were as tough as old boots and not seasoned (very unenjoyable). The manager took the steaks off of our bill (more excellent service from the manager). It was then time for the last course so I went with some cheese (with a nice port) and my wife went with something chocolatey (with a glass of Malbec). The last course was excellent, can't fault anything so while I was waiting for my wife I ordered a cosmopolitan. I took a picture of the cosmopolitan and sent it to all my friends asking if they could name the cocktail (nobody could). I spoke to the manager and asked how was it made and he spoke to the barman and then came back and told me the list but as far as I am concerned it was nothing like a cosmopolitan (missing the cranberry juice) and was more like drinking a lemoncello (although wierdly it tasted quite good).

Disappointed. Very expensive.Ordered roast beef with the largest Yorkshire pudding. The food was cold, the Yorkshire pudding more like a cake and manufactured. The leek gratin was a teaspoonful, the broccoli one floret as big as my thumb, the grilled spring onion was three strands, one teaspoonof gravy, so had to pay for more, no horseradish offered so had to pay for that. Won't be going back.

From first contact the process was simple clear and helpful. I booked a room for 20 guests for Mums 90th birthday they make everything so easy and every one of my guests was impressed and nearly all of them have thanked and complimented me on my choice of venue personally today. I’m so grateful as I could not attend as I tested positive for Covid the morning of the meal and with 90 year olds that are vulnerable it was the only option they had a room to themselves from 19:30-23:59 the staff were attentive the food exceptional 20 very happy guests. The menu is different for large parties but still varied and customisable for dietary requirements. Overall I would say we got a posh restaurant experience and quality in a party environment for no more than good high street pub prices. 3 courses for £50 and the wine and drinks took it to £80 per head not counting those that were on soft drinks.

Lovely place, lovely staff. Chairs not very comfortable after a while. My starter (koftas) was delicious! However, I felt let down by my mains. Sea bass si overcooked it was dry. The crushed potatoes were greasey and just generally the plate had no balance to it. My partners lamb rump meal was equally disappointing. I get that lamb is best served pink but this was so raw it was not possible to cut the meat with a dinner knife. Again greasey crushed potatoes. Overall very disappointing.

Familiar story nowadays. This was supposed to have been a special occasion with excellent food. The roast was awful pre heated and basic. For 23 pounds I expected a lot more flavour and creativity. Pork dry and crackling soggy at 21 quid. Desert was just a disaster. I had roast pork. Beautifully cooked vegetables and tender meat. The biggest Yorkshires I have seen in my life! Roast potatoes, too hard for me, but that's possibly preference. Lovely food but very poor service. Lots of staff just standing around doing very little. No one asked if the food was ok, no one offered us another drink. We had to stop a staff member to ask for the bill and it didn’t come. We waited 15 minutes then decided to get our coats and go to the members of staff standing around to ask again. We then paid bill and they then asked if we wanted to see the bill. Of course we wanted to see what we had spent over a £100 on. I was shocked by the lack of care , service and management of the staff. Some members didn’t do a thing the whole time we were there. The food was very tasty but another coffee would have been nice. Went for Brunch as a Birthday treat - thoroughly recommend. Wide menu selection, for a cut above brunch. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Food delicious :). Even drinks are a little special - Mixed Berry Smoothie and Hot Chocolate both deserve a mention.

I went here on a Tuesday evening and I have to say that I had the best meal ever. I started with a crispy duck salad, omg this was so delicious, succulent and I loved it. Followed by a massive lamb chop with sautéed potatoes and broccoli. I drank the house rose wine which our attentive waiter advised was slightly drier than branded, and this too was lush! By the time I'd finished my main, the lamb was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth, the small strip of fat was perfection too, crisp and flavourful, I was suitably full. So much so, for the first time in a long time I had to decline a dessert. Highly rate the Swan, beautiful dining area too. I can't wait to go back!

My partner and I came in yesterday for an anniversary dinner and our evening was made special from the beginning, when our waitress wished us happy anniversary and she gave us amazing service throughout (unfortunately i didn't catch her name but she wore a pink jumper). The food was beyond excellent, the atmosphere buzzing, the restaurant is beautiful. We had a great time, we will definitely be back.

Went last year, excellent experience so booked for an anniversary lunch. I left very disappointed, service was poor very slow, meal ok. I won’t go into all the details and bore everyone but mistakes were made that just should not have happened. I have only one piece of advice for this establishment, if you are going to employ young staff make sure they know exactly what is on the menu, and they listen when taking an order. Don’t rush and then when you query the mistake patronise and treat people like they are idiots. After all we were supposed to be the customer! Meal was ruined and left feeling really angry. Won’t be going back. Would not recommend after this lunch.

Feedback on Recent Visit - Overpriced Non-Alcoholic Wine I am writing to share my recent experience at your pub, which, for the most part, was quite delightful. The food, service, and ambiance were exceptional, and I have always held your establishment in high regard. However, I would like to bring to your attention a matter that left me somewhat taken aback. On the 18th of January, my companions and I enjoyed a delightful lunch at your pub. As a non-drinker, I opted for a bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling wine, which paired wonderfully with the meal. The service, especially from the manager, was exemplary. The reason for my concern arose when we received the bill and noticed that the non-alcoholic sparkling wine was listed at £35.00. To my surprise, this was the same price as the Prosecco offered. I understand the importance of pricing in the catering industry, but given that there is no alcohol tax on non-alcoholic beverages and the retail price for the brand you serve is £12.99, I couldn’t help but find this markup quite steep. I want to emphasize that the manager handled the situation admirably, and I appreciate their professionalism in addressing our concerns. After conducting some research, it appears that such pricing practices are not uncommon in the catering trade. As a customer who values your pub and its offerings, I felt it was important to share my perspective. While I understand the need for profitability, I believe that a more reasonable pricing structure for non-alcoholic options would be appreciated by patrons like myself. Thank you for taking the time to consider my feedback. I look forward to continuing my patronage at your pub and hope that this concern can be addressed for the benefit of both your customers and your business. Best regards, Mike

This was a delayed 80th birthday meal due to ill health in December The room was very nice just right for 17 of us but would have been very tight for 20 people as was told could have held The Sevice was great the girls were very good. But roast could have been hotter, some peoples was cold , the beef was not the best we have eaten in fact was very chewy and hard to swallow and a good bit went back on the plates The chicken that only two people had was very nice and tender but was not very hot. The desserts most went back again there were stone cold. It was really only because we were a family get together that we enjoyed the day. Have had a lot cheaper 3 course at half the price other places.at £40 + pp would have expected a much better meal and hot . It was not till everyone got home that we found out just how cold and chewy their roast beef was, but no one wanted to complain thinking it was just their meal. Well not be returning and definitely not worth the £1,000 + it cost.

We chose to have a birthday celebration meal here, knowing it wasn’t going to be a ‘cheap’ meal out. The food was delicious, service impeccable and cocktails amazing. Wouldn’t hesitate in recommending and will return again soon.

Delicious breakfast- the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. Please don’t ever change the recipe! (My friend also agrees and we’ve not yet had another Bloody Mary that even comes close!) Excellent service and such a lovely atmosphere. Also come here for dinner lots. Never had a bad meal - always delicious food and wonderful service.

Very average food, and service, but above average prices. I object to paying £7.20 for bread, which consisted of four slices of very ordinary white sliced bread. We were given a small bowl of olives, which we didn’t ask for, and then charged £3.80! Two bottles of sparkling water came to £9.80! One glass of Chilean Pinot Noir came to £8.30! which was probably the supermarket price for a bottle. And finally £9.00 for a portion of Bread and Butter pudding And £5.00 for a portion of chips. The whole bill for 4 people was £178.09 which included a service charge of 12.5%. Greedy pricing, for average food and service. Definitely would not come back again.

We walked down from Birling as the Nevill Bull wasn't serving food, the was a large wedding reception on there but they were really friendly and still happy to serve us food. The menu was good and the food itself was similarly tasty. There was local ale available which we enjoyed, the staff were great with our kids and it was a really nice atmosphere in the pub.

Visited for a family birthday. Lives locally for year but never visited for some reason. Great choice on the menu. If you like pudding this is the place to go. We ate too much this time but will know for next time. Staff amazing and really attentive. Looking forward to my next visit already
